[Q] Kernel to use with u8800-cm7 ROM? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi all
I see genokolar's latest cm7 rom for u8800 can't be used with franco's kernel. I use this combo now, on the v11118 rom. No doubt this'll get sorted soon, but...
If I want to update to 111128 now, or if this incompatible issue happens again, what can I do?
Does the geno cm7 rom include a "default" kernel?
If not, what other kernel options are there? Seems to be very few in the u8800 dev forums, and nothing seems to be actively maintained (note, not u8800pro!). Should I return to the stock kernel? And if so, how?
Thanks to all for the great work going on here, my u8800 would have been swapped for something else if it hadn't been for the awesome dev work being done.

every rom has its kernel...

thanks mate

Xperia Problems after ICS

Hey Guys ever Since Custom Sony Beta and The Official ROM I experince these Issues:
Phone Is on But never Responds to Hardware Keys to wake Up.
I have to Re-flash ROMs Sometimes able to get in both Fastboot and Recovery.
Using Doom's Kernel Mostly or Other Custom ones.
What's Wrong?
Using CM7 Stock is the Only ROM that works for me.
Front Facing Camera is Dead.
any help
As far as I know (I could be wrong) but I dont think Doom has done much in the ways of ICS, so I don't think his Kernel is made with ICS in mind if that makes sense. maybe thats whats causing some of your issues, Cmod7 is a GB rom right? which is the only one that works? with dooms kernel? Like I said I could be wrong and if I am I'm sure someone wont hesitate to let me know it lol I'd recomend reverting to GB if you can, try the stock GB rom and see if that works with Doom's kernel.

DooM released a ICS kernel too.
Beta means not ready, Release Candidate means Not ready but almost, Stable means ready , If you want a stable ROM, Go to Stock.
Try the Darkforest ROM with DooMLoRD's advanced stock kernel.

Best ICS Rom at the moment. Use the ICS kernel in the post instead of Doomkernel.
Also don't flash any CDMA stuff if on a GSM device

Just aquire a Ideos X5 and need some advice

Hi All,
I need your advice on what should be the most stable battery friendly Rom. I took a look on several forums, and there is several options out there, but nothing like a personal experience to help me going on the right way.
Also i know that there is a beta Rom (firmware?) that unlocks the phone regarding the SIM provider, but i don't if this will also limited the upgrade of future Roms. If that the case, then i will prefer to use a recommended site to get the unlock code.
Any help will be most appreciated... i don't want too much tweaked Rom or missing features, just need a very stable room, o preferably offering some kind mild OC and great on Battery life.
Thanks in advance.

i would recommend cm7 if you still have stock kernel - 2.6.32

I also want to try ezet's "CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC1-Unofficial .32 Kernel", and will install as soon as the new version is released. See here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527745
Since I'm still on .32 kernel, it will be easy for me to install it. But if you want to try a .32 kernel custom rom, you have to revert back to a .32 kernel official Rom first. Since it's quite tricky, i recommend you to read the related posts before attempting. For example, it's a good idea to backup your IMEI first, as losing it will make your phone useless!
Anyway, just read the posts before you attempt to do something.

[Q] ICS MIUI for Defy+ (GB Kernel)

Ok, I think the title is clear enough but, I'd like to know if there are any MIUI ROMs for the Motorola Defy Plus with a 2.3 (GB) Kernel. Thing is, I have Quarx's CM9 on Multiboot but I'd love to try ICS MIUI on it, but I understand I have to flash Froyo Kernel but don't know what would that do to my CM9 I'm so in love with.
I've searched all the threads on xda and the web but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.
Thanks!
Unfortunately Currently there is no miui build that works on gb kernel.

Thanks for the reply! Is there another rom that I should try? I don't really know about another interface for 4.0 but it would surely be great if there were one.
Edit: I have another question, is there a way to install a froyo kernel on multiboot so i can keep cm9 (GB) on my default boot? I already have multiboot but I'm not sure if flashing wiui, for example, will damage the other rom.
Look at the miui ics thread by sesme

Well as far as I know multi boot requires same kernel for the roms. I don't know if any recent development has changed it. You may check multi boot thread.

[Q] Changing from CM10 to Danik MS2Ginger 4

I´m currently using CM10 by Tezet, and I have flashed the GB kernel that Tezet put in his post. It all works nice and well, but I wanted to try Danik's MS2Ginger. Does anybody know if it works well without flashing the custom kernel from Danik? Can I just keep my current kernel? If possible, I'd appreciate the opinion of someone who has tried this.
Thanks in advance!
PS: On a side note, my current kernel (CM10) is named: 2.6.32.9- Jellybean, etc, etc. I had the impression that the Linux Kernel for Gingerbread (that is to say, the GB Kernel) was 2.6.35. Why keep the froyo kernel number?

I think you can keep your kernel but you would really benefit from the new one when using Danik's ROM. I haven't tried his ROM though.
CM10 has a thing called "2nd-boot" which allows us to boot custom kernels, from an already running kernel.
2.6.32.9 is the Linux kernel version (which btw, the number doesn't have anyhing to do with the Android version, but newer Android versions work better with newer kernels, that's why there is a WIP 3.0.8 kernel for the Defy). "Jellybean" is just the branch of code. That kernel has the ramdisk and init binaries (I think, kernel experts please correct me) necessary to boot JB.
Motorola has never actually released a kernel newer than that for the MS2, the "official GB kernel" it's an older kernel "built" for GB.
Hope it helps.
Thanks for answering!

[Q] Screen error after install any kernel

Hi guys, happy new year!
So, i'm testing the rom "Nexus 5 Experience (Kitkat 4.4.2)" and everything seems ok, i'm testing the version CAF Kernel. now i'm tryin install new kernels on this rom, but at every kernel I install i get the same error, after instal any kernel, I turn on my N4 and the screen seems very strange, colors flashing, sometimes when i start a game (or anything that forces the gpu) the screen is filled by one or two colors, but the touch is still working, is just a screen or gpu (i dont know) error.
I tryed to take some printscreens, but when i will check this on my pc, everything is ok, like if theres no error.
When i flash the rom again, everything works normally.
what i'm doing wrong ? I thought to change kernel is only flash him, is it wrong ?
i'm newbie, got my n4 yesterday but i have some experience in my old xperia..
sorry the bad english, im br
Thanks guys!!

I can't say what you did wrong, maybe you got the wrong version since many make 2 versions of their kernel, one for AOSP and one for CM.
I don't run CM ROM's so I don't know which kernels are out there. HellsCore is also another kernel to consider, I believe there are CM versions of it as well.
