With the HTC being the flagship phone for HTC, there seems to be many issues with this phone which seem very surprising for such an expensive phone.
HTC LEO or Nokia X5
Well, I haven't used an X5, but have had my Leo since thursday afternoon, been non stop using, installing new software / games on it, have not had 1 slow down, screen glitch, battery power has been exellent considering use of the phone I have done (WiFi always on, played games, watched movies music etc...)

Thank for your reply, very interesting I was reading that the phone is plagued with;
Extreme battery drain issues
Screen glitches
And SLOW performance and lag
ROM flash issues
SMS issues
Most of the problems have been niggles, though there have been a few major issues suffered by some people. It doesn't seem to follow any logical rules who gets one that has problems sending SMS messages, or maybe others that seem to dial by themselves.
All in all it is an excellent device- probably the best HTC have yet released.
Expensive? Not really in comparison to the cost of other SIM free phones when newly released. All the major flagship HTC releases have been in the £500-£600 in the 1st few months, but they do come down eventually.
More expensive means more features, more features means more bugs
But don't worry. HD2 is great phone. Best keyboardless Windows Mobile device. It still is Windows Mobile device, so be warned if you haven't had one.
But if you had WM device and you are looking for new one, and you don't need hardware keyboard, then HD2 is great.
Sure there is many complains here .. but that is what forums like this are for. It's not so bad.

Extreme battery drain? No- for a high powered device it lasts quite well. Cetainly better than my previous TG01
Screen Glitches: It is sensitive, but no 'glitches'
Slow performance/lag: Not at all
ROM Flash: Try and install something not designed for it and you may see issues. Stick to the official updates and no bother at all.
Finesse,
If you have seen and used the Nokia then I would go for it. As soon as you come to a device with the premise that it has a host of problems then your future good relationship with that device is lost before it starts!
Seen that so many times on this forum, hence my advice.
WB
I cant really speak for the Nokia x5 as I have never heard of it and dont know what operating system it uses but I have had my HD2 for over a month now with no problems at all. Everything runs smooth, screen looks amazing and games look fantastic.
If you have negative thought then steer clear as in my experience those people create their own problems to meet their own expectations but on the other hand if you are just curious because of other peoples negative comments then I would say dont pay any attention as overall its a fantastic phone and well worth getting. You wouldnt be disapointed and everyone else will drool when you get it out of your pocket. I dont know if you could say the same about a "nokia"

No, the only issue that really existed was the SMS issue but that's been solved with patches from HTC.
Screen issue can be solved simply by reducing sensitivity.
All the other issues do not exist. There is no extreme battery drain, no lag and no ROM flash issues.
I've had mine since Thursday afternoon as well and have been spending all day for the past few days playing with this phone, applying updates, and customizing it.
After the first couple days of getting used to it and getting everything set how I like it, I'm extremely satisfied.
This is clearly one of the best two phones in the world.
I would say it's tied with iPhone because iPhone has the best apps.
The HTC HD2 hardware wise is easily the best phone available right now.
I'm sure you meant nokia x6? If that's the case, the HD2 is a nice upgrade over that one...in every way imaginable.

Have you try taking picture of a white page ??? Do you notice a pinkish color in the center ?
Can you type 10 words with out faults ?
Has your phone Died? eg leaving it at night and next day he is just dead ?
Can you view an excel file in ful page, something that should be easy since both applications are MW yet Iphone does it why Leo cant ?
Are you sure there are no sms in your out box ? go in Traditional mode and check it out.
And sound while in a call is to loud, that ends up cronhing in your ears and can hear your own voice on ECHO.
Please take a look in XDA treads many people are talking about it since November
Ps I would love to be one of does who write nice things of there devise but in my case is impossible
I've had my Leo for about a month now and I'm really enjoying it so far. No battery issues and the speed as well as the display is phenomenol. It looks great and my only complaint would be the sensitivity issue, I still have problems with the keyboard but other than that everything works great.

No- you are one of thousands of 'lucky' customers. This sort of forum by definition focusses on negatives, of which there have been some significant examples, but they are in the minority overall.
To the OP- no-one can tell you what to buy. I don't know anything about the Nokia X5 (X6?) but rest assured that it will also have its problems, and the Symbian forums will be full of people complaining about this and that failing.
Try and get hold of a sample of each in the flesh and see which one most closely fits your requirements.

Do you mean the X6? If so, I tend to think of the Nokia as a polished phone with extra features like video and movie player tacked on. The HD2 (and other WM devices) are pocket computers with a phone tacked on.
A Nokia will need no tinkering and won't let you alter too much for that matter. It runs Symbian S60 5th Edition. A Windows Mobile device on the other hand.... complete opposite.
Any problems on the HD2 will be ironed out, either by HTC or by the guys on this forum who should work for HTC!
The number of times I've gone to work and had someone say look at my new LG "This", Samsung "That" or Nokia N97 and I say "Nice phone" and carry on my business. Then they say "Yeah it is... look it can do this, this and that...". I let them show off the phone, then hit them with my souped up Diamond and they go "Ohhhh..... Ahhhhhh....Woooowww!!!!!"
Then they say "That's too much for me, I could never use it!" lol Good luck, and I hope you choose what's best for you.
EDIT - Just noticed your phone list... it's quite varied and am a little surprised you asked the question! HD2 it is then...

Well mine has a slight pink blur when I take a pic of a white wall, but I don't do that normally, so I can't see it when I take a normal pic.
I can type very efficiently on the onscreen keyboard and very rarely make mistakes (I probably make less mistakes that I do on a real keyboard).
My phone has never "died" overnight, or any other time.
I can't really answer the excel issue, as I never use it on my phone, but that's nothing to do with the HD2, and that's what this thread is about. Get on to Microsoft for issues with their software, not the phone manufacturers.
My SMS messages get sent 100% of the time, and since I know the SMS sending problem can be sporadic, I regularly check the outbox and sent box so that I'm sure it's not happening to me.
The sound quality whilst in a call is perfect on my phone. It's exactly the same type of quality I've had on every phone I've ever had, so there's really nothing to report there.
As far as reading other threads to see what problems there are, you really need to remember that people (for the most part) only start threads when they have issues, in the hope that someone will be able to resolve them. If it seems like the majority of posts are about faults, then it is because there's not many people creating threads to say "nothing wrong with my phone". That's just the nature of forums, especially ones with a support style user base, like this.
Please remember that the people who have no problems are actually the majority. If someone comes on here and says that they do not have problems with their phone, it doesn't mean that they're saying you don't.
If you're that displeased with it, you should return it as faulty. You just make it worse for yourself by keeping it when it obviously makes you unhappy.

If you are experiencing all those faults then you should send it back under warranty for replacement.
So maybe this is a good idea, maybe not. But I have several questions for Xoom owners and thought I would ask them and create a thread for questions.
(Note: I do not have one)
Ok so some questions....
-How many points of multi-touch?
-Any freezing issues?
-Build quality: does it feel sturdy?
-If you have any cases, which and are they good?

1. I believe 5 point
2. No freezing yet and actually, not even a force close.
3. It feels very sturdy to me. It might be the weight that makes it feel that way though.
4. No case yet.

About 8 points of multitouch as tested on multitouch visualised app.
No freezing issues from the time I pick it up till now.
The build quality is awesome. Feels good in the hand. A little heavy though but I like it. Its better than using plastic. Very well built. I have tried getting the buttons to be stuck like some reviewers said.
I bought the xoom along with the portfolio case from motorola and man they're so nice together.
Bonus: the keyboard has big letters makes it fairly to use. Plus the battery on this damn thing is awesome. It just doesn't wanna die lol. But there's one drawback as far as I've discovered: the speakers are a little distorted when put on highest volume. Just one notch down would be fine.

Well thank you all. Very useful.
Final Question: I was playing with one at best buy and it kept FC'ing somehing called "My Apps" but it would do this even when it was just sitting idly at the launcher.
Any clue what that may have been?
My thoughts were it may have been because it was no synced to a Google account or that somebody took the time to root it apparently because Rom Manager was installed on it... which I thought was a bit odd for a demo model.
ROM Manager installed when I set up with the same account my OG Droid is on. Can't use it, because I'm waiting for the MicroSD and 4G update to be done before I root.

No problems so far. Still tweaking some. I use mostly in landscape so I setup pages for landscape mode. Been great.

The one thing i was experiencing when messing around with one at Best Buy was that it would FC what ever I was in at the time to start up the Verizon loaded demo app. It would close down what I was doing and start it up. My guess to like set a set amount of time for users to test out the xoom.
Solution?
I just went and uninstalled that stupid thing
Then I was able to use the xoom without any issue.
Now just to wait for the iPad 2 conference to end to see what they are bringing to the table. Although it would have to be something crazy with the iOS as I have heard they aren't planning much in the way of changes to the hardware. I'm seeing the hardware upgrades being equivalent to the jump from iPhone 3G to 3GS

Points of multitouch? I'm assuming some sort of technical question here, but as far as I can tell accuracy is better than what my finger can manage... i.e. maybe this matters with stylus type applications.
No freezing, ever.
Feels study.
No case, trying to find the stock Verizon portfolio to decide if I want it, so far sold out everywhere locally, I am carrying it around in a cheap but well cushioned HP zippered pouch that is perfectly sized I found at WalMart.
Wasn't sure which section to put this in. Did a search but nothing came up. Ever since update screen has been freezing when going to lock screen. Acer_A500_1.139.05_COM_GEN1 uk version 32GB. Wondering if anyone else has this problem? Could be an app maybe? Thanks

I'm starting to believe this whole sleep thing is a tegra issue. I'm just looking at trends here. This happened on the Gtablet in every ROM I used though very, very rarely with TnT Lite or the newest stock VS had on there before I sold it. Still, it happened. It happens currently on the LG G2x, on the Zpad, Advent Vega and more recently, Asus Transformer and Xoom - so seemingly on most if not all Tegra 2 systems.
Each user experience may be different, but for proof simply google [name of tablet] sleeps and won't wake up. You'll find hits on EVERY Tegra 2 based tablet and also the G2x.
I never saw the issue frequently in my A500, maybe once a week at most. I haven't seen it since the update, so I'm crossing my fingers. I feel 99% that I'll see it again, just hoping it's few and far between.
Obviously this is all speculation, I've based this opinion on observation, research and as I mentioned, trends. I'm not saying it's happening to EVERY Tegra 2 based device owner, but it is happening to many.

although I can appreciate your attempt to make a connection with this issue and some deficiency lol, google searches of "PENIS VAGINAS" WILL in fact give you search results of PENI and VAGINAS..... so I really don't know how valid your query is.
None the less I will say I have and work with a handful of tegra 2 devices and have never heard on the support end of things about this issue with the exception of the Transformer which, apart from the shoddy build quality issues, is very prone to this issue.

Well as I said, I owned a GTablet, I've played with a Zpad, Advent Vega and I have been reading up on several forums; pretty much every Tegra 2 device has this problem. It all boils down to the tablet's hibernation mode. It's either turning off, sleeping or freezing when it's not used for a long time and it's affecting these tabs (and phone) to different degrees.
Insofar as the search I mentioned, if you plug in most devices, you'll see they don't have an issue with waking up.
If you plug in the Xoom, TF, Iconia, GTablet, G2x, Avent Vega, Zpad...etc. you'll see they all have users reporting the issue - that was my point
I'm also hard pressed to find other android devices plagued with this issue. They have their quirks but waking from sleep and freezing on wake is distinctly Tegra 2.
Of course, it could just be some giant coincidence and the lowest common denominator is not in fact Tegra 2. I could be way off the bat.
I came from else where in search of a fix for this or at least to find the source of the problem. It's been suggested to do a factory reset, or might be weatherbug app or to use airplane mode with wifi and a few other things. So far it's only conjecture and guesswork it seems. Anyone able to confirm the problem is the tegra2 or perhaps the update? I thought it might be the device itself but according to other forums with the tegra2 it's a recurring issue regardless of device. Hope we get a fix soon, it's rather annoying.

Just to update. Screen still freezing. Its getting almost unusable now. I thought this latest update was specifically aimed at fixing this. I don't know of this is a honeycomb specific bug or what but it seems not everyone is suffering so I assume it must be hardware. Getting highly annoyed with Acer not taking my enquiries seriously. Anyone else frustrated to the limit yet?

I also recently updated to the 1.139.04 firmware and the screen has been freezing about 50% or more of the time when waking up even if I just put it to sleep a few minutes prior. I can barely use it all now. If the 3.1 update doesn't fix all these issues it's getting sold. I just don't have the time to fool around with a tablet that half works. I've also been having a lot of issues with the browser and market crashing or not responding at all. I'm starting to feel like I should have just waited for the 3.1 update before even buying it. =/

im still debating this tablet, but i want reeeeallly bad. so heres my background, i get easily frustrated when something doesn't work the way it should, im on my 3rd Samsung Infuse with in a month... but anyways, i was browsing the all 135 some pages and i see people having well, a lot of issues, chargers, screens, speakers (pop... whatever that is, seems to be known around the threads.) i read about people sending them in for repair. so i need to know what are the serious issues with this tablet. issues that everyone has recognized as a known issue,
This mostly happens most with 1st/2nd/3rd/4rd batch/shipment. I think new batch with the serial no# b5xxxxxxx or higher doesn't have noticeable issues.
B5 still have issues, but keep in mind that this is still a minority of people. The majority are enjoying a near perfect experience hardware-wise. A very common issue is light bleed, though in most instances this is very minimal. Mine had, unfortunately, the major issue of having an unresponsive area on the screen, which is why I RMA'd it.
I'd still choose this tablet any day if I had to start over again. Hell, even with the defective touchscreen it was still an awesome tablet Can't beat this screen right now, and the dock is great!

I just got my Tf a few weeks ago (and hey, it is a B5) and the worst problem i've had is there aren't enough hours in the day to enjoy it. Nothing like firing up GOF2 THD for a little while then reading same Douglas Adams. Oh, and then watching Hulu. I do that whenever stuff whenever i see an ipad user.

Yes. The TF has reported problems. Nothing is perfect much less new products. I count myself fortunate that my TF works pretty well. From what I have read android itself can be frustrating especially when one tinkers with it but then that is part of the enjoyment of android. Learning. Reading your post my first thought would be to suggest you wait. The TF, as most android products, can be frustrating but also keep in mind that you're not reading about the majority of TF users who either haven't had problems or have dealt with them.
Even a new Porsche can have problems!
im okay with the light bleed. and i know about the speakers not being even. but whats this speaker pop thing about?
I don't have any problems, I can tell you that mine is perfect. I don't care if you believe it or not

I can answer that question,
there are 2 kinds of popping sound from the speaker discussed in this forum,
the first one is with rooted user using overclock kernels.
occasionally the speaker would make a "pop" sound (when you get notifications)
but that does not happen to unrooted users, and in fact, the lastest kernel seems to get rid of that question already.
another popping sound issue if reported from people streaming music from the "google Music" app.
sometimes after a certain amount of time listening to music using the app, the speaker, actually the headphones, speaker doesn't have such issue, start to produce some kind of "impurity", a constant popping sound.
But the issue can be easily solved by unplugging the headphone and replugging it. I've tried jumping straight to Youtube app when I start hearing the popping sound, and it's not there in the youtube app. So i suspect its more of an software issue. Asus is already looking into it the last time I checked.
What about the dock issues?

There are a LOT of useless threads on this forum, but this one doesn't qualify. I can understand that, after a few months , it gets tough to know what issues are still relevant and which ones are a thing of the past. So this youtube noob reply was totally unnecessary.

My dock has zero issues. It charges, it registers the keys, mouse works great with USB ports, haven't tried the sd card. And the touchpad is amazing.

I promise you that 99% of the people complaining are just being the biological trolls that they were born as.
The TF is a great device and IT WILL do everything it was intended to do pretty damn well. The dock definitely takes some getting used to, especially if your not used to mini netbook type keyboard.
But it is really responsive and adds legitimate battery life and functionality to the device.
The few bugs that the TF does have are very minor and will be sorted out with time just like ever god damn piece of hardware in the world...For some reason people don't know how to do anything but complain on these forums. Don't be swayed by them, chances are they are very incompetent in real life and look to the internet to hear out there pathetic pleas for attention
I beg to differ @ previous poster. There are legitimate QC issues here. I've gotten 4 different units sent to me in the last two week and each had issues. The latest has a whole section of the x axis (in landscape) about a finger width wide unresponsive to touch all the way across the screen. Bull**** in my opinion. Also look at the beautiful RMA threads here. Really making me contemplate my decision. I love the device and its capabilities, but am discouraged by these shortcomings of the manufacturer.

This is hands down the best thing I have purchased in the last several years, I have to make myself put it down. Having said that, if you are picky then no tablet (android or other) will be good for you. Honeycomb is far from complete or polished and there are problems if you look for them. In my opinion non of them overshadow the experience.
My other devices are collecting dust.

There are a LOT of useless threads on this forum, but this one doesn't qualify. I can understand that, after a few months , it gets tough to know what issues are still relevant and which ones are a thing of the past. So this youtube noob reply was totally unnecessary.

Yes it does qualify. This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041502, is a stickied thread and has a complete ordered list of noted issues with detailed information about the issues. Oh and its up to date since the dates for changes are noted right there and all.
I linked this thread here: http://www.facebook.com/ASUS/posts/209779482398791
I don’t have the dock, so cant comment on that. Instead I’ll comment on the tablet alone. I have the 16GB model with Honeycomb 3.1 (stock no mods, not rooted yet), had it for 6 days, so these are more like my first impressions:
Pros :
Beautiful screen (very little light leak on mine so I’m quite happy. But has one dead pixel though, but not noticeable)
Good battery life (I can easily go beyond 8hrs with moderate use)
Everything (I have tried so far) except web browsing works as it should
Cons:
Web browsing is very disappointing to say the least. The stock browser crashes and lags to the point of being unusable.
Flash video performance in the browser is poor, HD videos breaks up and low res videos are blocky when viewed fullscreen, deblocking filters don’t work properly or not at all.
Video Playback isn't the best But Theirs Work Around (HandBreak and Different Video Players)
Flash in my opinions is fine but It can be improved
Music is awesome especially with Volume+ App
Games are Very Good. I play Spectral Souls and Galaxy on Fire 2
Screen Is Beautiful (Some Light bleed but all IPS have this problem yes even Ipads)
Overall Performance is Good (A Little Laggy with Widgets but ADW EX can fix this)
Browser is my Main Gripe. It Looks amazing and Loads Fine but Theirs Typing Browser lag and it Kills the Experience. Its not a Hardware Problem its Software. Its eather Honeycomb or Asus Custom UI. Idk which but it should be fixed :x
All in All its an Amazing Device and if The Browser Typing Lag gets Fixed, Then this thing would be BEAST. Theirs a Rumored Android 3.2 that fixes alot of HC Issues coming out in the next few weeks so thats Might be what everyone is wishing for. until then we gotta wait on Asus/Google.
Edit: I Should Mention thats Their is ONLY typing Lag in Browser and Not Writing Documents/Apps. Strange..
Hi,
I was looking at get the Acer iconia for university to take notes and play with.
Would you guys recommend it as a tablet? Are there any performance or screen issues at all?
The reviews I read were quite positive, but I find forums are always best place to get real opinions.
Thanks in advance

For me one of the main defects is the quality of the microphone, then once try, if it is possible before buying!
I haven't found anything wrong with the tablet itself, it's sturdy, looks good and works like a dream. I haven't tried the mic though, I don't have any use for such.
I've had mine for a month now and I can say, hand on heart, it's an excellent device. I believe that Android has some way to go before it can be described as a fully matured platform for tablets but it's streets ahead of anything Microsoft offer and in the useability stakes is not that far behind the iPad.
Its a good device - but the AC adapter just sucks (short cable, bulky, no power cable as we know it from notebooks)

On that note the tablet recharges really fast, though. I have no experience with other manufacturers' ones, but it takes only like an hour - hour and a half to charge it to full and then it lasts the whole day again.
Thanks for the replies. I'm personally not too fussed about the mic as I probably wont use it.
Based on the replies I will probably get it soon. At first I was a bit worried about the vibration during charging from a thread somewhere here, but it didn't seem like it affected many users.
Thanks again for all your help

Not to worry about the vibration I had it on one exchanged it haven't looked back. This is my first tablet so did a LOT of research chose this one & love it. Sure it has some faults but mostly because because of Google. Most of it should be resolved when 3.1 comes out in the next week or two. One thing I would suggest you do is read as much as you can on forums especially this one & don't be afraid to ask questions (not to me , I don't know enough yet).
Good luck & don't be a stranger.

The key issues seem to be screen-ons, weakish wifi and GPS radios.
Best to try the device out and see if you notice these issues. If not, the A500 rocks. I had two A500s with screen-on issues and they would not turn off the display unless the power button was pressed.
Suggest buying one and try it out. No issues, no problem. Were it not for the screen staying on and coming on unprovoked, I would have kept one of the two I had. Waiting for the issue to be fixed, or will get something else later.
added:
The only similar featured tablet in the near future is the Toshiba Thrive. A few of the hands-on previews suggest the display is washed out and soft, but no comparison to other devices to confirm if true.
Ive had mine for about a month now, and i was considering returning it, but im glad i didnt. Ive gone 4 days with out charging it, and when i do charge it, it charges in like an hour. The power adapter sucks, and it sucks that it doesn't charge by usb, but the sacrifice is worth it for the full size usb port. Hell, ive use the stupid thing as a back up charger for my cell phone (a Vibrant that has effing terrible battery!)
The only real complaints would be towards the software. It does like to hang every once in a while, and does still have the sleep death issue, but those things happen very rarely.
I am glad you are happy. I have spent a few hours looking at reviews and seeing what people were saying about this. I have to say this, in two days I will have some money and I am picking it up.
pros
The ports- buying factor for acer vs asus( tablet only)
Built quality- love the aluminium
Speakers- can party with them lol
Cons
Weight- a liiiiiiitlllle heavier than galaxy 10.1
Mic- gotta say its not the best but not that awful for me
Short cable for adapter- yes this really threw me off
I dont wnna talk bout bugs, all products have em. Asus gets the bleeding screens and 720p playback curse, samsung gets the bezel tearing and ipads lack a lot of things. Hope my opinion helps.
Thanks everyone for the additional comments. The pros all seem to outweigh the cons, so i will definitely get one. Thanks for all the input again.

All good points to consider and very true! I'll be keeping my A500 and returning the asus unopened.

Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.
I think A500 is a very good product... I own an A500 and an Asus Transformer and I have to say I do prefer the Acer. In my opinion the screen is better, more bright, more responsive and above all it get way less dirt than the Asus. The USB port is another plus, not talking about the led flash for the front camera. The only negative point is the weight as the Asus is lighter and has a wonderful grip.
Both of them have microphone problems but the audio of Acer is way more powerful.
To make it short, if I had to choose one of them I would buy the Acer... no question.

Hey....also something to consider....the Transformer has a DOCK turning it into a netbook.
AFAIK.....the Iconia A500 does not have this at all. The W500 does however.
