false positive market updates - Epic 4G General

Seems like every other day I get a notification that there are 2 updates for my apps on the market. If I click that notification, or go there manually from my apps list, everything is already up to date.
Here's the fun part - it does this both on my epic and xoom, so it seems more account related than device related.
What can I to do ferret out this weird market issue?

I've been getting that a lot lately too. Not sure how to get rid of it.

Use app brain app from market, but first try removing Google sac acct and resigning in

Went to 'manage applications' and picked market - says 0 data used, so the clear data and cache buttons are grayed out. What now?

Market download issue with root?

A few days ago I successfully rooted my phone to s-off status. Since then I have installed ROMmanager and ClockworkMod.
For the past 2 days, I've been having Market download issues where some apps begin and appear to complete downloading, but don't actually install. I've tried clearing the download manager and restarting, but that didn't work.
Anyone else seeing this?
Mine just recently today started force closing after every app I clicked update on. I would restart it, work fine then click on an app to update then FC. Thing is, the application continues to update normally and works fine. Its just the market is screwy or something...
Try clearing the data for market... Then reboot. I haven't had the issue with my 4g, but I did on my vibrant and that was the solution.
Worth a shot.

Thanks, unfortunately that didn't work. I even went back to a nandroid backup from 3 days ago...but androidcentral.com just sent out a tweet asking if anyone else has been having Market issues. Maybe it's not just me then?

Yeah, I am having issues. Mine will start to download, then it will just stop. Same with updates, I think it is a Market issue. Not a phone issue.
But mine just started tonight.
Edit: Woah, it works now.. Looks like my issue is gone, check on your side.
Edit 2: Stopped working again!
Edit 3: Looks like apps will only install when I hit "Automatic updates"
Edit 4: Scratch "Edit 3" seems to only work sometimes.. Looks like a market issue still, and not phone.
okay thought it was just my phone, i am having the same issue where it will start but then just disappear

Wow, you really took my brain for a ride. I think I need a vacation! ... I hate how these issues can come out of the blue because they're all server-side. I've had to swap my phone out several times before I got one without dust under the screent, etc. On top of this, my neighborhood has downed towers so the network is a bit spotty. All this started the day after I received my latest MT4G. This is the stuff heart attacks are made from!

It lasted about 15 hours. I hated it
But hmm. It seems to be working now. I will try to download a few more apps to confirm.
Yeah, it is working now.
I was just able to download a few apps consecutively, individually (not via update all), and they all worked. Perhaps issue is now resolved?

Not Receiving Market App Update Notifications

I've had this problem for months on all sorts of ROMs but never put much thought into it.
Is there a fix? I NEVER know if updates are available until I hit up the market.

Go to market, menu button>settings>notify me
I should have mentioned that I had that option selected. I've also tried clearing the cache, etc, with no luck.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I think the Market just sucks at notifying you. Its never been very good at notifying on my G1, mytouch slide, or the Vibrant, so its gotta be the Market.
I thought so too, but notifications work perfectly on my rooted Nook.

Go to menu> settings > applications > manage applications> market. Here click on clear data. Nyu may have a problem with broken links of ur apps. If that's the problem, above steps should solve it.

I've tried that before with no luck. What's really weird is that my market cache is always 0.0kb in size as well.
I wonder if I have an app or something that is blocking it. Right before I installed Bionix 1.3 I formatted my internal sd (just because I had never done so) and I received market notifications then and thought that maybe it was just clutter. But the issue is back. Super weird.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I also don't receive update notifications until I open my market. I just let programs update automatically, and check it every once in a while for manual updates due to apps requesting new permissions.

I think its a market issue. Its hit or miss for me. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I dont.
I don't know if this is a 2.2 issue or not but ever since i updated, my market has been acting iffy...along with a few other samsung widgets. I don't know if it's a server issue or something with 2.2 on our phones but i know a few people that started having that problem as soon as they updated to 2.2.
Same market issue here, hardly ever get notifications on updates. However whenever I open market all the notifications come up
I'm with everyone else, I don't think I've ever gotten notifications before. My gf's phone doesn't get hers either and shes using a MyTouch Slide. I do get notifications right after I close the Market, but never before.
I think its purely a market issue.

It worked perfectly on android 1.1 with the G1 back then, but since 1.5 its been hit or miss .... guess its been over looked by the OEM, when putting together roms for their devices ... Or it can just be an issue with google's servers .. I just made it a habit to check every day for updates ..
Mine works it seems to work every 3-4 days on notifying me. But, it hangs in the download so I end up doing manual update.
This method go to Market> type find updates or update apps then it seems to find them
The auto update is kinda flaky and unreliable
What's weird about it, at least to me, is that it works perfect on my rooted nook and with the honeycomb demo for my nook. At least I'm not the only SGS owner with issues.

Wait... you think this is a bug/bad thing?
OMG I'd be thrilled to never receive market update notifications, instead, I have to manually kill the service every reboot (even with "do not notify me" set) and often uninstall unwanted updates from my themed apps in /system/app until I have time to theme them.
Royal pain, I'd love to never have updates, lol.
Cheers, =)

A downgrade indeed... in terms of features. You can't view the permissions of the app before downloading now, updates don't seem to show up on top. There is a possibility that I might have missed those features since I'm new to this.
On the plus side, it's super fast now and there are more useful categories. I hope they bring back the old features if they've been removed.

But how about the updates? I know there's an app that has an update because I didn't grab it yet. Lo and behold, the app does have an update button in the app details BUT it doesn't show up on top of the list. Maybe I'll try doing stuff like rebooting my phone.
Oh, and one more thing. There's no longer the auto-update check mark like before. Is it really missing or am I just missing it?

My two updates are at the very top and seperated. And of course you can see permissions. Click download and a seperate page comes up to confirm and shows permissions and more clearly I might add.
Also its only showing the updates of apps actually downloaded from the market. I too had two that weren't showing but they did in fact have updates. The reason is those two were backups from like November and I don't remember if I got them from the market or here.

This is really a good update. I just need a wifi at my house so I can now rent movies.

So it turns out that all of the features that appeared missing (uninstall, auto-update, permissions section) were mostly caused by my apps losing their market links.. and being too quick to judge for the permissions one. After rebooting, the list of all my installed apps disappeared where they were in the "not installed" section before. So I think I'll have to find a way to restore them. It's either with market doctor in Titanium and/or clearing the market data, right?
I hear rooted users can not rent movies though the new market. Is this true?

Yup, rooted phones can't watch movies. I don't see them removing that policy because of piracy issues.
But it really sucks to be this way, maybe they should do what amazon is doing? Making sure that the movies will only work on the account that downloaded it?

Thanks EB for the link. working perfectly on SimplyHoney 3.9.1.
tried the market apk on the latest cm7 nightly, but when i try to open it i get the message "you must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to add one now?" so i choose yes but nothing happens i logged in to google thru the browser but no luck there either any suggestions??
After spending about 15 min with this, I have to say that this market is a nice improvement. The issues I encountered were all temporary (missing update button, security permissions lists before download, etc). Sucks that they decided to stop rooted users from video rentals. I can see why, but in the end someone will figure out how to bypass that.
If anyone has issues listing their installed apps in My Apps my solution was to use titanium backup to wipe the data of the market app clean + using the market doctor. I also had two accounts in accounts and sync and had to get rid of the secondary one to get to load up my default sync data.

You have to accounts and sync in the settings and add an account. Quite weird that you can't do it through the actual market. I never had an issue doing that in youtube!

Market update?

I an attempt to try to get GB, I have been accessing the Market, and trying to update firmware (no luck btw), and it seems that Market updated itself??? The Market screen seems more condensed. Anyone else seeing that?
FINALLY!!!!! An option to enable all apps to update by default!!!! NICE
I am on build 3.3.11 btw.
I keep a link to the market on the home screen, so I figured something was up when the bag icon changed. Update all is pretty cool...until your phone tries to update some big apps while you are out and about which kills your battery. You can default it to only update when on WiFi, which does help.
Also, if you have multiple google accts, you can change them on the fly from the market header bar. Maybe that's been there, but noticed it for the first time today. It was pointed at a different acct.
Hope this build stops the "false update" problem!

[Q] Not seeing installed apps in market

After restoring my apps with titanium I don't see any apps at all in the my apps section in the market. Although when I search for an app it says installed. I tried installing another app from the market but it didn't help. Then I tried doing the market doctor thing in titanium but it didn't help either. I then tried to clear market cache which was impossible to do from manage applications (because of a bug that shows 0.0b for cache and clear cache is greyed out) so I cleared cache partition in cwm but that didn't help either! What do I do to see my installed apps again?? Help!!

Stop using titanium backup and restore only what you can no longer attain from the market .... its always the best idea to fresh install your apps which is a pain but for the sake of cleanliness
Also when you do this you'll end up with a lot less apps because the ones you remember are the ones you Actually use

Last I heard Roam Control was no longer available through the market.
I've had it happen for both paid and unpaid. Usually I just wait until the app has an update and then it'll appear. I will sometimes use Titanium to resurrect apps that have left the Market, such as ShootMe, Roam Control, etc.

i have the same issue with the market after using titanium... no apps show up in my apps, but all of them show up as installed. the only way i have found that works to find updates for them without searching all of them is to use appbrain, and that will find updates for them. except roam control of course, but it lets you update it thru the app now. by the way MrGreg, i love roam control. it was the first app i paid for and was the only app i bought for a long time lol
