Is there a way for the volume keys to only control media volume instead of its default behavior which sets ringer volume?

When you're in a media app, the volume keys should control media volume.
Of course, I know that. But I want to control media volume at all times. There is no ringtone to adjust.
Is there an app I can use to remap the keys or something?
I would like this myself.

Keysmod will let you remap the volume keys but I'm not sure that will do what you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965023
You might want to check out Volume Control, which overlays a touch bar on your screen that can control media volume. There are several apps on Android Market called Volume Control; you want the one by BigRedPepper.

Doesn't look like it does, someone in the thread wants to do the same thing as I do.

Thanks, but that isn't something I'm interested in.
I'm interested in this as well.
thereddog, have you had any success remapping the volume keys to control media volume by default instead of ringer volume?

As the title says, is there a way to disable the ringtone volume control with hardware volume buttons ?
As i always accidentally push these buttons and lower my ringtone volume so that i cant hear it or the oposite.
I just want to adjust system volume with these buttons, and to adjust ringtone volume only in the sound settings on the phone.
Anyone who knows a tweak on this one ?
Thanks

Try AEB Plus. Works for me. Use link provided in previous post.

Might there be a registry tweak for the number of steps for the volume button? I generally listen to music with the screen off. If I want to change the volume using the physical button I am limited to 5 steps. However, the volume control for the HTC player has 15 steps; much more usable. Is there any way to change the button increments to 15?
Thanks in advance.

It looks like if you go to the registry you can change where you want the small volume control used in music player to appear and add it to other apps. So hopefully someone will be able to figure out a way to make it appear all the time.
Is there any way to control the sound volume for the keyboard keypress independently from the Media Volume? I can't believe Google didn't think about this, especially in Froyo.

Adjustable via the system volume control - bugs the hell out of me
Use a better keyboard like HTC IME or Better Keyboard or Smart Keyboard.
They all let you adjust how load the keyboard tick sound is
I've found a problem with this related to using navigation. If you set the keyboard volume at a sensible level then use navigation and increase the navigation volume it also increases the keyboard volume. When you exit navigaation it does NOT reset system volume so its annoyingly loud forcing you to readjust it manually. They should fix that in navigation but its been like that for at least 6 months. The fix I use is to get Sound Manager from the market and set a schedule to adjust the system sound how I want it at the start of every day. At least that way it starts out normal each day. Def a fix is needed for this.
hey guys, I use to use an app that allowed me to use the volume rocker buttons to control my music playback. Basically, the way it works is you quickly double click the volume up rocker to skip a song and double click the down volume rocker to replay/go back. You can use this functionality with the screen off and if you press the volume rocker at "normal" speed, it would control volume as usual. I used to use the app but since I switched to my N4, I somehow lost it and can't remember the name of the app in the play store. Any ideas?
Thanks!!
I was looking for one also and came across one called "Pocket Skip Track" on the play store.
Works great on stock 4.3 aosp. Hope that's what you were looking for!

If you are rooted, you can try any rom, all the roms here have that feature to change the song by long pressing the volume up button and play the previous song by pressing the volume down button.. I am on Slimbean and it has this feature so no need to waste the valuable space of our phones when you can get the feature in the rom itself.

Is there anyway to set volume to control both ringer and notification sounds? Seems they are separate for me.
Also, I can hear feedback on apps like xmradio through headphones. Anyone else hear any type of feedback?
