Samsung GT-I9000 Boot Loop Solution. - Galaxy S I9000 General

To begin I understand how frustrating it can get with a useless phone.
Hopefully this method should allow you to partially use your phone.
=====>THIS IS A NOOBs’ GUIDE<=====>HOPEFULLY IT HELPS<=====
This is not a fix, only a solution. It may only work in certain cases. However it is worth an attempt. I am not liable for any further problems that occur with your phone.
You will need:
A memory card (ideally above 2GB, I specifically used a Transcend 8GB Class 6 MicroSD)
Odin3 V1.3
A stock copy of JM8 firmware (Only the PDA)
A stock copy of JM1 firmware (PDA, Phone & CSC)
A method to connect your MicroSD to PC (ideally an SD Adapter)
Busted Boot Loop phone
60 minutes spare time with a very cool beverage
USB Cable type A to micro type B
Method :
For starters, your phone must be able to enter “Download Mode”
You are not required to know the firmware version. (I didn’t) (wink)
1) Run Odin3, Enter Download Mode, Connect to PC
2) Flash JM8 PDA Only with repartition/auto-reboot checked
If you are now in recovery mode skip to 3b).
3) Repeat step 1) Flash JM1 full including pit 512 with repartition unchecked & auto-reboot checked
3b) Wipe cache partition (two or three times –RAGEFACE- ). Wipe data/factory reset (few times too)
4) Connect MicroSD to PC (via your own method)
4b) Format to dedicated size and set “Allocation unit size” as default and “File System” to FAT32 (no name) and uncheck “Quick Format”
5) Remove battery from phone for 30 Seconds, Insert Battery and MicroSD
6) Repeat step 1) Flash JM8 PDA Only repartition/auto-reboot UNCHECKED
7) Pull USB Cable once in recovery menu (after fail warnings), Remove battery, Remove MicroSD.
8) Repeat step 4) Repeat step 4b) =>HOWEVER<= check “Quick Format”
9) Read step 10) first. Repeat step 1) Flash JM1 full with repartition unchecked and auto-reboot checked
10) Have your MicroSD at the ready (to insert) and keep your eyes on Odin3, Back to rest of step 9)
11) In Odin3, Once you have seen factoryfs and dbdata complete insert the MicroSD
12) You should now be done… You should get something along the lines of…
format_root_device: /dev/block/mmcblkop1format_r
fsdevice -> /dev/block/mmcblkop1
format_vfat_device -> argv[1] :-F
format_vfat_device -> argv[2] : 32
format_vfat_device -> argv[3] :-0
format_vfat_device -> argv[4] : android
format_vfat_device -> argv[5] : /dev/block/mmcblkop1
basically I only remember seeing argv for 1 to 5 (screen was too fast for me)
after this it read (well along the lines of)
--Installing package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Successfully installed package.
(I basically only saw --Installing package...)
The phone then booted with an S logo and graphics with sound. It stayed there with a glow. After say 30/40 seconds, another glow of the logo and the phone had turned on.
=>HOWEVER<=
THIS IS ONLY A SOLUTION
Storage barely works; Apps must come only from “Market” and there are signs which appear;
"Removed Internal SD Card"
"Can not mount External SD Card - Mount point absent or incorrect. Please unplug"
Remember, this is only a NOOBs’ GUIDE therefore if you are unsuccessful;
Persistence helps..
I apologize for wasting your time, although you did enjoy a cool beverage (smile)
& if you try the whole method say two or three times, you get to have the cool beverage 2/3 times more
I will attach the notes I made in a notepad file when I felt ecstatic about my partially live phone.

This solution does work.
if you are looking for JVM files go http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm register for free and get your files. i've downloaded I9000XWJM8.exe , I9000XWJM1.rar ,you will need pit file downloaded from that page too (pit 512 version)
i got my odin1.3 from google serach... Odin3epicv1.3.rar
While I was trying out the above, I have noticed a few things. First ... in step 2) it says check repartition&reboot. Unfortunately repartion checkbox can't be ticked unless pit was added(or else I got error msg) so I've done JM8 with only PDA file + reboot ticked. rest empty(or unticked).
When odin done its thing and rebooted, it's stuck at black screen(or battery charge screen if connected to live usb cable). pressing 3 button combo took me to download mode again. I flash with JM1 this time with pit + csc + pda + phone with repartition and rebooting ticked.
couldn't get to recovery mode up until this point with 3 button combo so skipping all parition wiping thing with recovery mode.
did all the micro sd formating thing as noted.
done JM1 odin run with extrnal micro in the phone.
took it out and quick formated it.
done JM8 with pit+csc+phone+pda with reboot+repartition
before the this run ends, i did put micro sd in, before reboot took place as noted in this tutorial.
after the reboot booted up to recovery mode by itself
i wiped both(factory reset and cache) and rebooted
and FINALLY, instead of samsung text and bootloop, it DID PLAY ANIMATION
and there was about 10 sec lag but booted to user interface as normal.
And now, as I can but the phone on debug mode, I will install adb and try to wipe partitions on internal SDCARD(GOD I HATE THAT WORD) as noted by
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1253036.html
and see if it's just parition fuked or actualy chip inside fuked up like bad sector problems in good old days with floppy disks...
To Hooolagon THANKS AGAIN for awesome tutorial and I will add more here if I got internal sd card work. cheers

best solution i found so far

final solution

this is very helpful, thanks...i read it just incase i get stuck in boot loop, after i try what im about to do.

theres an easier way to solve a bootloop, just flash darkyrom v10.2 re,then after that flash whatever u want

are you out of your mind.
Darkyrom cant be flash to phone due to partition damage/ and states during instillation as full memory therefore Darkyrom flashing is not advisable in this current problem.

hi, someone here still holding a copy of JM1 and JM8?
i've tried samfirmware.com the links are all in multiupload.com and the site is now blocked by FBI, where else can i get the firmware files for i9000?
or is there a new solution for bootloop i9000 caused by internal sd error?
thx
@Hoolagon, thx a lot for making of this thread hope it can save my i9000

Beginners GUIDE:Rooting a HTC Dream(T-Mobile G1) and Installing CYANOGENMOD 6 (FROYO)

So I spent about 5-6 hours a few days ago searching for a full tutorial of rooting a T-mobile G1 (HTC Dream) and then installing Android 2.2 Froyo on it (Cyanogenmod 6).
I could not find a full guide anywhere and I ended up using like 5 different sites, going though a million pages, and ended up flashing unstable builds like 4 times so it was a huge headache! So I am creating a full tutorial here for all newbs like me so that all the info is consolidated into one place. =)
I FOUND THIS TO BE THE EASIEST METHOD OF ROOTING A G1 AND INSTALLING A STABLE BUILD OF FROYO.
THIS IS DESIGNED FOR THE COMPLETE BEGINNER!!
I HAVE THIS ON MY G1 WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!
Rooting Your Stock T-Mobile G1 (HTC DREAM) AND INSTALLING A STABLE ANDROID 2.2 FROYO BUILD. (CYANOGENMOD 6.0)
**Please make sure your phone is completely charged before doing this**
**I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. Do this at your own risk**
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was pretty worried about bricking my phone, but it is almost impossible if you do this step by step and correctly. Just make sure to follow the steps!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prerequisites:
**ALL DATA/APPLICATIONS WILL BE REMOVED FROM YOUR PHONE AND IT WILL BE RETURNED TO FACTORY SETTINGS AFTER THE FOLLOWING STEPS. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SYNC SET UP FOR YOUR DATA SO THAT YOU CAN RECOVER YOUR CONTACTS!** (TO SYNC GO TO SETTING > DATA SYNChronization > make sure AUTO SYNC is checked as well as contacts calendar and gmail)
Here is what you will need:
1) Your Phone
2) A Computer
3) USB Cable
Download the following file onto your computer: (DO NOT UNZIP OR CHANGE ANY FILES!)
ALL THE LINKS TO DOWNLOAD THE FILES ARE HERE: pktos.blogspot.com
Original DREAIMG.nbh
Cupcake Update.zip
FlashRec.apk
Amon Ra’s Recovery Image
G1 Radio
G1 HardSPL
Generic G1 ROM w/ Root
CYANOGENMOD 6 ROM
GAPPS
ALL THE LINKS TO DOWNLOAD THE FILES ARE HERE: pktos.blogspot.com

6. Once the format is complete: drag and drop "DREAIMG.nbh & Update.zip files that you downloaded into the sd card. (DO NOT create a folder or anything, just put it right in the SD card)
7. Unmount your phone by going through the notification bar and then unplug your phone Turn your phone off. from your computer.
8. Press and hold the camera+end key until until you see a screen with colored bars, then let go. This is the bootloader. The screen will turn gray with blue writing on it.
9. Hit the end key to start the update. DON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THIS IS DONE!

7. Once partitioning is complete scroll down and select to "SD: ext2 to ext3" and then press the Home key. Wait for it to upgrade.
8. Once the Upgrade is complete hit the "back" button to get back to the main menu. Then scroll down and select "USB-MS Toggle" and wait for it to enable.
9. Now plug the phone into the computer again. Now transfer the files downloaded earlier: G1 Radio, G1 HardSPL, Generic G1 Rom w/ root, to the phone. (AGAIN KEEP THE FILES JUST IN THE SD CARD AND NOT IN A FOLDER OR SOMETHING)
10. Once the transfer is complete hit the Home key to disable the USB-MS toggle and return back to the main menu of recovery mode. Unplug your phone.
11. Scroll down and select "Flash .zip from SDcard"
12. Select the G1 Radio file (named OTA Radio or something like that) and hit the Home key to confirm. DO NOT SELECT ANY OTHER FILE, THE RADIO MUST BE DONE FIRST.
13. Once the Radio Flash is complete Press Home+Back to reboot the phone. It will then say "writing radio image" and then reboot back into recover mode (this will take some time)
14. Once back into recovery mode, scroll and select "Flash zip from SDcard" again.
15. This time choose the SPL file (named somthing like "Latest G1 SPL.zip") and then click the HOME KEY to confirm.
16. Once it finishes, hit HOME+Back to reboot once again. It will say "writing boot image" and then reboot
back to recovery mode.
17. Once again scroll to "Flash zip from SDCard" and choose the Generic G1 Rom file (Named something like Generic G1 Root Rom.zip) and click Home to confirm and wait for it to finish.
18. Once finished it should go back to the main menu and say"Install from SD card complete"
19. Now click on the "Reboot System Now" choice. (Home+Back)

4. Once enabled, plug your phone in and transfer the CYANOGENMOD6 and GAPPS file ito your SD card/phone. (again not in any folder, just in the sd card)
5. Once the files are transferred, press the Home key to disable USB-MS Toggle and return to the main menu, and then unplug your phone.
6. Scroll down and select "wipe" and then select "wipe data / factory reset" and then hit the Home key to confirm. Wait for it to finish the wipe. It will say "Data wipe complete"
7. Hit the back key to return to the main menu.
8. Scroll and select "Flash Zip from SDCard"
9. Select the CYANOGENMOD 6 ROM Named something like "update-cm-6.0.0-DS-RC1-signed.zip" and hit Home to confirm and wait for it to finish.
10. Once finished it will go back to the main menu and say "Install from SD Card Complete"
11. Go back to "Flash Zip from SDCard"
12. Select the Gapps File Named something like "gapps-mdpi-FRF91-3-signed.zip" and click home to confirm.
13. Once it is finished you should be back at the main menu. Select "Reboot System Now" and wait for the phone to reboot.
14. The reboot will take some time, (roughly 5-10 minutes) so don't freak out. Just put your phone down and go do something =)
CONGRATS! YOU have successfully rooted your G1 and installed CYANOGENMOD 6 (ANDROID 2.2 Froyo)

Thanks. Yah rebooting the thing didn't brick it. Still trying to understand why you are dropping a default ROM image, prior to going to 2.2 but meh....*shrugs* Got it. =) Thanks for the guide.
Awesome! Glad it worked for you.
Hi,
Thank you for those nice tips.
I just have a problem when I have to reboot in recovery mode. My G1 stays on my provider screen (Orange FR)
My G1 is rooted.
I tried to use flashrec 1.1.2 and download the recovery img from the web, and it works but i don't see all the options required to make the partitions you ask.
Have you any solution for me ? (Another recovery img ?)
Thanks
Hey,
So I did some research on your issue and was not able to find any other fix other than downgrading to RC29 (the Dreaimg.nbh file) and then trying the process over again.
Something must have gone wrong when you were flashing the recovery image.
I will continue to see if I can figure out how this may have happened and provide some feedback.
Awesome tutorial, dood. It took me hours to figure out the whole root thing when I rooted my first G1 and eventually the whole process ended being a combination of multiple tutorials. Took even longer to find a stable ROM I could use as a daily driver. Big-Ups, yo!
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
I think I found the problem ...
I made the all process again and the problem seems to be here:

Hey so after looking at the screen shot it looks like you have a Rogers Dream with an EBI1 (3.22.xx) radio. I found some info here: wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=RE-recovery-img
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4647751
Looks like you need this recovery image instead:
rapidshare.com/files/387561073/recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0R.img
Let me know.
Thread moved to G1 General.
Thanks
Worked like a charm. Thanks a lot. I followed all steps in exact order!

If you look at the CyanogenMod Wiki Page thats one of the first things listed to do.
Nice guide and all but the page has its own guide how to get there fully - http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Update_Guide_-_HTC_Dream
Good guide. I'm sure it will help out a lot of newbies. You should probably post his somewhere like the tmobile forums where more people will be able to use it. Just so you know, a few of the things you list are redundant and it can be shortened quite a bit. For example, with CM6 there is no need to partition the SD (for now), and swap is only ever helpful in Hero Sense UI roms. I'll help you cut some of the fat from it.

III) Partitioning and Loading the latest radio
It's redundant tohave an ext partition on CM6. No apps to EXT yet.

13. Once the Radio Flash is complete Press Home+Back to reboot the phone. It will then say "writing radio image" and then reboot back into recover mode (this will take some time)
Hard SPL? psssht. After the radio update, you should either install an engineering SPL like 1.33.2003 or 1.33.2005. Note that the .2005 SPL is called danger. If flashed with an incompatible radio img (any 1.x radio), you will brick your phone. The .2003 spl is safe coming from stock 0.95.0000, so you can flash that with or without the radio image. 1.33.2005 is more useful though because it had 89 MB on /system vs 67.5 MB on stock. This should be flashed through fastboot, part of adb (android debug bridge)
IV)Installing CYANOGENMOD 6 (Android 2.2 Froyo for HTC DREAM)
1. Once back into Android, turn the phone back off.
2. Hold the Home+Back keys to turn the phone on and get it back into recovery mode
3. Select "USB-MS Toggle" and wait for it to enable
From here I suggest navigation to steeings->CM settings and turning on CC, turn off dithering, and lower vm heap size to 12. Also, go to ADW settings->UI settings and check system performance. Reboot the phone.
CONGRATS! YOU have successfully rooted your G1 and installed CYANOGENMOD 6 (ANDROID 2.2 Froyo)
From here I suggest installing ADB on your computer. It gives you access to fastboot to flash dangerous files like DANGER spl and radio's safely, push files to the phone, make backups, run shell commands, and LOGCAT! If you get any FC's, run adb logcat and send the log to the dev! it make's finding bugs so much easier.

I think I removed enough things to make it a little shorter. I am not sure which SPL you are referring to as Hard spl. Can you reboot via camara+power and tell me what your hboot version is? Also you should probably look at firerats custom MTD partitions thread, it means that you don't need danger anymore.
Great write-up, worked perfectly - even for an android newb like me
Thanks for the help
Have a good one

Wait... you mean we don't need to go through all the angst of 'should I / shouldn't I' over DangerSPL any more, if only I'd known that 20 minuters ago, ( didn't brick anything, but I did worry somewhat ).
And I'll just go repartiton my SD card again shall I? Lmao...... Yeah, new(ish) G1, you'd think I'd have learned to search and read more by now huh?
Excellent guide though, as a complete G1 noob it got me though it with a little less confusion than some other guides, ( I mean how do you flash a radio if you never did it before, most other guides assume you know how, or do not explicitly guide you through that step, given DangerSPL's reputation, I'd have considered that almost obligatory).
Happily running my favoured CM5 again, yes I know the guide is for CM6, but I stepped off the guide just a little to go for eclair rather than froyo ( almost feel guilty saying it, but it's just the same as my Nand flashed Kaiser now, perhaps a bit faster).
Thanks and cookies (off to do a little userbar and sig work )
Curious about Hard/Danger
Is that right? CM6 works with HardSPL just as with DangerSPL? Same apps (not neutered at all)?
Gonna try this guide with HardSPL for the first time. I haven't found actual evidence of performance differences, so if I notice anything I'll post back. I had rooted and install CM5.0.8 on another friends G1. We'll see how this goes. Thanks for the guide.

No Hardspl won't work unless you use firerat's mtd hack.
Good guide! Im excieted to see so many positive posts.
I however have run into a problem.
During this step:
8. Press and hold the camera+end key until until you see a screen with colored bars, then let go. This is the bootloader. The screen will turn gray with blue writing on it.
9. Hit the end key to start the update. DON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THIS IS DONE!
Click to collapse
The screen does not go grey with blue writing. It stays light blue/white and gives the two options.
Do you want to start update?
<action> yes
<power> no
If I hit the end key it goes back to <send> fast boot mode and does nothing at really. Is this right? I left it for an hour and nothing has happened at all. I have no indication that it is doing anything.
Ok so I had to hit the action button instead. Sorry I'm learning as I go here basically.

Quick & Easy method to turn your tab to EXT4

Basically, make sure you've got a microSD card with about 650mb (or more if you have a lot of apps installed, check via Settings -> SD Card menu) free on it for the ext4 conversion before you even start.
Download the ext4 version of the kernel from;
http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-galaxy-tab-tab-modaco-com/330378/26-jan-r3-modaco-custom-kernel-for-the-samsung-galaxy-tab/
(You _might_ need an account on the site first, not sure)
Install the Samsung Kies software so you've got the USB drivers installed (or install just the drivers from:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201010/20101026044755031/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.3.350.0.exe
Turn your tab off, turn it back on holding the DOWN volume button until you get the big yellow triangle.
Plug it into your PC and run Odin. Make sure that one of the leftmost boxes lights up yellow and says "COM" in it (along with a number). If not, then it hasn't picked up the tab, try rebooting the PC and/or trying another USB port.
Click the big "PDA" button and select the "p1000-mck-r3-ext4-cwm.tar" file that you downloaded (do NOT extract the archive!)
Then press the "Start" button and cross your fingers.
If the tab seems to hang, give it 5 minutes before you hold the power button down and then turn it back on again. It should sit there for several minutes and perform the conversion.
Once you're done and up & running, you can save the full firmware/ROM to the MicroSD card, boot into recovery by turning the tab on hold the UP volume button, then using the "Select ZIP from sdcard" option to flash the firmware. This will WIPE all custom applications and settings you have installed! I'd recommend doing a "wipe data/cache" before flashing this just in case though.
The full MCR firmware is available from:
http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-galaxy-tab-tab-modaco-com/331479/04-feb-r1-modaco-custom-rom-for-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-with-online-kitchen/
There are also alternative firmware's (e.g. Overcome, Rotohammer) on this forum - they're all currently based on the same official JMI firmware with various tweaks. The MCR kernel seems to be the easiest way to start.
Full credit goes to Paul @ MoDaCo for releasing the kernel in the first place.
I typed most of this out for someone, figured I'd post it here as well in case it's useful to someone.
WARNING: Check the integrity of anything download from the MoDaCo server(s) before flashing as their server(s) frequently seem to have issues completing downloads.

Make sure you have sufficient space. In my case I needed more than 500MB. My system was corrupted because it tried to backup the existing system onto the microSD and I only had 639MB free, which was insufficient for me. Then when my system rebooted, I kept on getting force closes from Nook and Titanium Backup and some other apps.
nice work!
Hi knightnz,
Sorry for this noob question.
Does this means I can do it on my stock rom without installing anything or customizing my tab?
Is clockworkmod recovery required to execute this conversion?
Thanks.

You have to flash a new kernel, which will also flash ClockworkMod Recovery onto your device, so the answer to your first question is no, you can't do this without customising your Tab (new kernel, new recovery!), and your second question, yes you need ClockworkMod!
Regards,
Dave
Yup, on the Galaxy Tab the recovery gets packaged in with the kernel installation, so if you flash a zImage, you're probably replacing the recovery as well. (I'm sure it could be omitted, but so far it seems this hasn't been the case).
At the moment all SGT recovery's are based on ClockWorkMod (this includes the MCR kernel version).
As for "stock rom", well I'd class a complete filesystem conversion as definite customising. If you _just_ replace the kernel and do the ext4 conversion though and don't worry about replacing the main firmware, then you'll retain your existing system exactly as it was, it'll be snappier though, and you'll then have access to the CWM recovery should you ever need it.
I had difficulties flashing this as the Modaco server kept on stopping the download when incomplete. I had an hour of scratching my head when I saw that the download was 4 1/2 Mb when it should be 6.66.
It took me about 6 tries to get the full file and was sweating when I saw the following screen:
phone --- ! --- Computer
Keep an eye out for this chaps...
is there a way of going back to RFS from EXT4?

Yes, I already did that once. Go into the development section and find the Roto JME rom, get the full rom, the p1_hidden.pit, and a modem of your choice, and follow Roto's instructions to the letter, and you will have rfs, and your CWM3 will be gone.
I'm used to the speed increase now. Perf drop if i went back.
Ext4 is stable enough

Yeah, their "load balancing" server doesn't seem to have very good balance by the look of it, downloads fall over frequently.

[Q] Fugumod USB issue, XXJPN compatibility

Hi all,
I am on XXJPM with fugumod 2.2BE and I am sure it was just a fugumod what makes my phone unconnectable as USB device.Replug does not work, setting phone to ASK HOW USB USE does not solve it.KIES is piece of crap , so it is normal it does not connect. When phone is connected as USB device, sometimes drive letter is assigned, but unreadable, sometimes no drive letter assigned.
Any tips ?
Is Fugumod 2.2 compatible with XXJPN ? I am thinking about XXJPN and about Kyrillos 4.1 (hope he will make it with XXJPN too )
Now I am at higher level of some bubble game, so I am affraid of flash to lost all and start all from the beginning - trust me move and copy back 32 GB of data is ARMAGEDON
BTW, it there any way how to remove UNUSABLE TOTALLY GAY media files searching from phone ? It take soooooooooooooooo long and sometimes with fugumod it makes phone unusable. You cant access menu even after 5 mins on 32 GB microSDHC card ...
You must install driver properly.
I installed it properly, KIES NEVER connect, but sometimes USB is connected ... weird
BTW, did anyone tried I5800XXJPN firmware ?
I want to flash is via ODIN as usualyl, but I am affraid of this because I read at development section there are some bootloaer what can hard brick phone.
So now I have no idea if I can flash normally as one package with BOOT included or I have to uncpack tar content and flash only some of bin files

You can flash JPN normally... no need to worry.. Chances of bricking your phone is when something goes wrong during flashing. At that time if you close ODIN or unplug USB your phone will be hard bricked.
Removing bootloader and sbl.bin is recommended to avoid bricking.
You can download 7zip, what i use, open tar using it, delete bootloader and sbl and flash it

I don't think you can get rid of media files search process because basicly it's the way Android mounts the SD card (yes, it's done after system boots). And anyway, you probably keep some apps on your SD, so if you don't mount the SD you are not able to use them (or any files SD for that matter). Maybe 32GB is too much for our humble i5800
OK, I am on XXJPN now, I had problem reenable root access just because of driver problem - solved by reinstalling driver from superoneclick 1.9.1 release.
I discovered as at case of Galaxy S, if SD card removed from phone, then there are no problem connect to KIES.If card is present aphone, then I have no way to connect to KIES ...

My friend just brought a new one and update to 3.1,can I copy the rom from his unit to sd card, then use it on my machine.

Do you have stock or custom recovery?
If you're using CWM recovery, you need to make a modification to erase all data
see the CWM thread (OP) for instructions:

Just had a thought that might help you. On your tablet, go to apps, settings, privacy, and unmark "backup my data". Let it sit for a few minutes then hit the Factory reset option.
I do IIf that doesn't work the file you'll need is the "Acer_A500_1.141.07_4.010.11_COM_GEN1". It took me forever to find it and when I did it was buried in a post. "Search" XDA or google it. I can't upload it as the file is too big. Ive tried to find it again and couldn't. If I do, I'll post the link.

Seems like it don't recognise the sd card. After i remove the card and put it on galaxy it will add a folder name lost directory on my sdcard
Any idea.
Thanks
1. Did you try the unmarking backup method? Did it work?
2. Your SD Card should have at least 2 files on it: Lost Dir and android secure-which is a hidden file.
I cant remember if the Acer_500 file needed to be decrypyed or not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14209794&postcount=1
You need to pull the update.zip and put it on the root of SDcard.
Read these 2 posts. These are where I got alot of info. Thanks to all these reference posts and files.

[Q] Boot loop, unable to reach recovery, bootloader strange, Oxygen

Hello, I've spent several hours searching a solution for this problem, both on this forum as well as others. But still unable to find one I try my luck here.
This is the case:
U8800 bought in Sweden a couple of weeks ago. Installed SuperBoot r1 and CWM 4.0.0.5 Perfect Recovery from XDA forums. Installed Oxygen 2.2.2 r4, worked fine until yesterday. When it got stock at the screen lock. Pulled battery and then it was stuck in a boot loop showing only the IDEOS-logo. Tried to get into recovery with Vol+ and power. But still only gets to IDEOS-logo and then reboot after about 10 seconds.
I'm able to get into bootloader (pink-screen) by Vol+, Vol- and Power. Have tried to replace boot.img and recovery.img with others (original backup, CWM 5.0.2.3) in both Ubuntu 11.10 and Win 7). But still unable to reach recovery. And next time I start bootloader and check it's still the same boot.img and recovery.img as it was before I replaced them.
Seems like I'm unable to write to image folder somehow. It looks good when I disconnect it from the computer. Have tried "safe removal" in both Ubuntu and Windows, no difference. Also tried to rename the files to boot_backup.img and recovery_backup.img and then put the new files in there. But next time I start bootloader they are once again restored to how they were before (same file size as before) and the renamed files doesn't exists any more.
Have also tried to install B136 stock ROM via bootloader, looked good at first but when it was finished it said "Installation failed" (or something similar)...
Read somewhere modding the build.prop could cause boot loops, but I haven't touched that and therefore doesn't have any backup of it either.
Any ideas?
Yep, it looks like your bootloader may be corrupt...Do the following:
Boot the phone in Bootloader (pink screen) by pressing Vol+, Vol- and Power and connect the USB cable. Copy all the files you can find on that partition (this will be your backup) and format the partition with FAT32 file system, create a folder named "image" and copy the following files on there.
EMMCBOOT - http://www.mediafire.com/?lb6ifvgk72iru4a
AMSS.MBN - http://www.mediafire.com/?d6r45q6p5gew59v
Recovery.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?57njygc8oianjac
Boot.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?6d5i0714a7o9z97
Once you've done this, take the battery out and boot into Recovery and flash a new Rom (VOL+ and Power.)
Let me know how this goes...
Thank you very much for your help!
However when I try to format the partition windows says it couldn't complete the format. Tried both to right click > format and disk management > format. FAT32/std fast format as well as regular/slow. Neither work. If I do a regular format it goes at normal rate up to 100% and then says the disk isn't formatted...
I don't know if I dare to remove the partition and make a new in disk management, feels like I would screw something else up then?
Any tips?
Have tried to format in Ubuntu 11.10 as well, with the standard tool it didn't complain, but it didn't format it either. Installed GParted and tried that, it did seem to work and said it had successfully formatted it. But yet the image-folder still remains on the boot partition...
Run a systemcheck with the disk management in Ubuntu and it said the file system was OK.
I'm almost out of ideas now...
I don't think you're actually formatting the drive as the "image" folder should be gone once the format is done.
Try using a windows PC, I know that Gparted and Ubuntu can be a bit tricky sometimes...
Also, you've definitely installed the drivers for the cable?
On Windows 7 the drivers are being automatically installed, so maybe you should try that...
I've tried Windows 7 several times (the only Windows I use). It's very weird the files just wont go away. I have taken Shift+Del on the image folder several times and they are removed just as any other files on the computer. Then the next time I connect it the very same files (58 MB) are back! When I do a format the computer shows the disk empty, but when the error window comes up the files are back... In ubuntu GParted shows the partition empty, but after a re-scan the 58 MB are back...
Can try to see if I can make a screen recording to see if I'm doing it wrong somehow.
Thanks for your support!
I have a short screencast on screenr illustrating the problem, but unable to post a link I'll try to describe it.

Seen your screencast...it's a bit unclear. Sent you a PM, hopefully we'll be able to sort this out.
Same problem here h ttp//forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318647
The bootloader seemed to be beyond rescue. Nothing seemed to help, tried several drivers and computers. But the partition seemed locket somehow, couldn't replace the files. Tried to flash in stock ROM 136 and 138. Both failed unless you removed the cust update file. Then it succeeded, but still bootloop when it restarted.
So the phone is now returned for service.
Thanks katu2006 for all the help!
