at&t galaxy s ii north american stock ROM - Galaxy S II General

Ive searched these forums all day
but i cant find an At&t north American version Stock version of the ROM
ive checked the threads but theres not any anywhere,
can anyone point a finger to where one is?
I cant make any phone calls right now and its quite annoying

Yeah i second this

Are you talking about the Samsung Galaxy SII (GT-I9100) or the AT&T Version (SGH-I777)? The GT-I9100 aka the international version was never released officially by AT&T in the US and therefore doesn't have a stock ROM. If you are looking for the stock ROM for the SGH-I777 try looking in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1301
If you are just looking for a stock Samsung ROM for the GT-I9100 try looking in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Do make sure you know which version you have before you flash anything, flashing the wrong ROM will likely brick your phone.

Yeah I know old thread, but may help someone in the future. There are some cellular service providers selling the GT-I9100 phone for North American users. You can find stock firmware for the 9100 on the samfirmware web site under; Firmwares>smartphone>Andriod>GT-I9100>North America
Make sure your device is a true I9100 and not a 9100G,9100P or 9100T device since there are no stock North American firmwares for those models Some are Carrier branded and other are not. Choose what you need. Choices are limited though for us in NA and using the I9100. The UHKG7 rom works well on my phone. Nothing there for AT&T though, so the post above is probably your best answer.

n00b help: AUSTRALIAN Galaxy S (i9000T) Telstra - updating/flashing

Hey guys,
I have looked around here and mainly found peoples topics for the Galaxy S i9000T who are from a different country, need different firmware and have differently branded phones, hence this topic:
I have purchased a Telstra branded (AUSTRALIAN) Samsung Galaxy S.
BASEBAND VERS: I9000TDVJH3
KERNEL VERS: 2.6.29
BUILD #: ECLAIR.DVJH3
----------
From simple browsing I have determine 'TEL' or 'DV' just means TELSTRA (and T can also mean this). If looking at 'J' by itself it can be interpreted as OCTOBER 2010 (when i got the phone), but not sure what H3 is....or if it is read as JH3..
My plan is to jump onto a nice compatable version of Froyo 2.2, however I have NO IDEA which is the best and closest firmware to download and in case of any stuff-ups or compatability issues, if i need to claim my phone under warranty, I want to be able to flash back to stock firmware, which is this Telstra JH3 crap, and have no idea where I can find that.
My biggest gripe is nopt being able to have the FREEDOM to remove/uninstall/move certain LOCKED apps despite trying with various android apps and while i'm rooting/flashing, I thought I might as well get 2.2 since the "proposed" release date in Australia for it, and probably likely release by Telstra will be in December, or so I am told...screw that.
Can someone help me and direct me to the most appropriate version of firmware to download and, if available, the original stock firmware (if it has been replicated by anyone with the same phone as me?)
Thanks
RoOSTA
I've PM'd some Aussies to get attention to the post as i have nowhere else to turn to!
currently there are no safe Froyo 2.2 yet
even the original release in Europe got recalled, wait until mid November, then we might finally see some progress
for now just iron out whatever is bugging you with the current fixes, and live happy until Froyo comes out
is that I9000T a 900 band model or 850 band model ?

The Telstra I9000T is a 2100/850 Mhz model.
Yeah, OK...I'll wait til mid November, only a couple of weeks away...
Until then, what can I do to get the best/accurate/most reliable 2.1 (UNBRANDED) that will still work 100% on the 2100/850MHz bands? I want to be able to delete ALL the crap that is apparently "system locked" apps from the phone...
RoOSTA
i have i9000t latin america versión
and i have made this flash "[HOWTO] Froyo FW I9000XXJPM: Upgrade via Odin, Root, Recovery 2e, Lagfix!"
with a unlocked csc from canada
first of all I made a backup with the rom manager, because i cannot find anywhere the galaxy s firmware of my t model
maybe you can do the same
so whats the optus ones? just i9000? funnily enough im on jg3 with optus.. where as the op is on jh3.. my phone was also delivered in mid oct 2010.
So maybe I'll just try rooting the phone to de-brand it (keeping on 2.1) then when a stable official froyo 2.2 comes out, hopefully MID NOV, just update to that?

Rooted the phone using auto method from the tutorial on these boards with ease, installed Titanium Backup which downloaded the latest or most compatable busybox (1.16 for me). I have managed to delete some "locked" apps, but a lot of Telstra's BIGPOND apps remain (downloads, movies, sport, etc) - they are much harder to find when browsing the list appLIST in TBackup - I jsut got the free version, but impressed with how much easier it has been to customise even still, as a branded phone.

@roosta...im a noob, plz can u tellme the step to step guide i soo wanna get rid of telstra apps and i wanna completely debrand the telstra galaxy s phone without installing any lag fixs like voodoo etc, i just want to instal the original eclairs or froyo from samsung for its galaxy s i9000, but im not sure how to go about because i have the 850mhz next g galaxy s from telstra. Can you help me , thanks in advance
Hi mate, as the reply I made above states, i used the galaxy S "root" tutorial,. i havent debranded hthe phone, but i have been granted rights or access to delete specific apps I dont want, so follow that. I won't FULLY debrand the phone only because I havent got the telstra stock firmware to download and REINSTATE at a later date (if i needed to for warranty purposes)
RoOSTA
@roosta, i wud really appreciate if u cud post the link, i cannot find the thread u mentioned in your reply. and secondly any idea when telstra wud be releasing 2.2 for sgs. cheers

Hi mate,
Is there any chance you can upload your stock rom, I stupidly flashed my i9000t without fully understanding the 850mhz network and now I am stuck with a custom rom and no way to access the nextG network.
If there is a way and I just missed something, please let me know.
Kindest regards,
All you need to do is root the phone which you did, and then get hold of Titanium Backup. Use that to uninstall the junk that Telstra pre-installed. But before you do anything use Titanium to make a full Backup just in case. From what I gather your phone is exactly the same as the American AT&T captivate so whatever roms/fixes they use you can use on your phone. If you notice a lot if not all phones from AT&T usa work fine on telstra as they both use 850mhz (NexG rebranding) while the rest of the world like Optus/voda/whoever uses 900mhz. 850mhz is actualy better as it penetrates walls and buildings better but problem is that only 3 Telcos that i know use it is AT&T, Vodafone NZ and Telstra so they can be expensive for data. But on a better note you can use your phone on any network as it also has 2100mhz(very congested) 3G too.
Always willing to help out a fellow aussie here you go mate

So 2.2 out for Optus, but STILL nothing yet for Tesltra for the JH3 firmware and 2100/850 bandwiths!?!
That's ridiculous...

Hey Roost,
Just wanted to check in and see whether you had any luck mate? As far as the GTalk thing goes I had absolutely no idea about that, but sounds like your only choice here is to flash back to stock Telstra 2.1 and then redo your modifications and reflash to your custom ROM.
I agree with you completely in that the delay for Telstra updates is ridiculous, but this has always been the case. Even right back to WinMo 6.5 on the TP2 and TD2, they've always been three or four months behind the trend. To best of my knowledge there's still no news on Froyo yet, which is just ****ful.
I'll keep checking your post to see if you turn anything up. Hopefully you do and it's manageable. Good luck mate.

Hey all,
Just updating: As per another thread on this board - Telecom NZ have released Froyo 2.2 available via kies. Using registry, i spoofed Kies into thinking my phone was i9000T from NZ, so have since updated to 2.2 wiuth no issues;
For me, no lag fix needed, swype works perfectly, all gps/maps work fine with accuracy and 850 band fully functional. I'd also recommend doing this ahead of Tesltra AU since i've gone from about 15+ useless LOCKED system banded apps to TWO on Telecom NZ; one being internet and the other for 'account status', so very happy with the recent update...

I think TNZ have pulled their 2.2, at least that's the last update I read a few days ago.
I've got an I9000T as well, and am on Telstra. I've flashed Docs V4 JPU ROM and it's working great on the 850 band.
So it looks like the JPU CSC does support the NextG frequencies
Do you think you might be able to list some of the useless telstra branded apps you removed? im having trouble knowing whats what the way its itemised and named in Titanium Backup.
auldar could you link to the ROM you are using at please.

Hi all,
I have recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G on the Telstra Network here in Australia. I've searched this forum completely (well to the best of my ability) and cannot find the info that I want.
I would like to get rid of the Telstra bloatware on the phone and install a custom rom from this site. I cannot find anything to do with this particular model and don't want to stuff this up so any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any info on this little baby
I would not like to lose the 4G network if updating not sure if anyone here has done any testing on this model. Its not been out long and I've only had it for a week.
cheers
you best go to this forum and follow it, since its just released and the cpu is different from ours, 1.5 dual core, snap dragon i think

Doubt you'll find much (any ?) custom firmware for this phone. Only sold by one telco here, only works (as intended) on one network. Not a lot of incentive for devs (most of whom don't live in AU) to develop for it.

[Q] Why does samsung update their firmware based on regions?

There are many samsung firmware builds, just for i9505 and i9500 itself there are many different firmware variations.
From what I understand, different regions uses different modems am I right? If not, then why do Samsung update their firmware based on different regions?
When Android 4.3 was released, it was released as per region and to Russia first. Why cant they just send out one uniform update OTA to all devices of that model? If its because of the modems, then why dont other manufacturers like HTC do the same? They are able to push out one HTC update for all international HTC phones...

it s not always because of bandwidth traffics
sometimes they release firmware for test if someone find bug and then solve it for another region (and also with minor update for first regions)
htc released update for htc one world-wide But how u compare samsung with htc

Actually the purpose of this post is to gain some knowledge on how Samsung update goes on... I am very patient I am not rushing to the point I need to flash a custom ROM. So you are saying that each region has their own Samsung tech guy that will work on the initial release to fix bugs before passing to another region?
There are not just more variants of firmware in s4, but also the same for any samsung phone. Does anyone else have their opinion on this matter as well? I would like to get feedback on what people think behind samsung's update procedure.
I'm also interested in having an answer on the subject. If I can flash a firmware from another region on my phone, what's the purpose of having several firmwares...Besides some tweaks apparently.
Wouldn't it be more interesting if all the developers from Samsung focused on the same firmware to eliminate the bugs more rapidly for example? I don't really see the link between several firmwares and the number of users. Ok, the S4 sold by millions, and?
Thanks.
What difference does it make.As long as your getting your updates, why would you care about any other region.
Are you doing a Samsung case study or preparing a lawsuit; otherwise email CEO of Samsung.
I can post his tag if needed..lol

The time discrepancy its coming from carriers. Most of them wants to integrate their own bloatwares in their phones. And some are doing faster than others. That's why there's so many region specific firmwares when its about Touchwiz. You won't see region specific firmwares for Google Play Edition.

[Q] Galaxy S4 i9507 4.3 update

Hey guys, i've searched through the forums and as yet I havn't ran into anyone with the same problem. I bought a Galaxy s4 from gumtree, and it turns out its a i9507 with optus branded firmware. I really want to update to the new 4.3 software, but cant do that as optus hasnt released anything (and wont for ages). I'm wondering if any of you had the link for an unbranded version of the official samsung firmware, so in the future i can simply update when samsung releases new software. I've only ever found i9505 updates, and seeing though thats not my exact model number i've restrained from updating (as i'm not sure of any possible issues associated with this). I've attached a screenshot for reference, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
WAIT!!!!
WAIT!!!! Even if you find a firmware DONT DO IT!!! I have the galaxy S4 I9507, it's the newest version and only released in Australia and Hong Kong. I have an unbranded one (through virgin, which are owned by optus but you usually get a non carrier specific version)
It's not otus that isn't releasing the firmware, it's samsung, they have for other versions yes, but the I9507 has a different speed processor than all of them and a different processor all together than the earlier versions.
Unless you can get an unbranded firmware specifically for the I9507 (not I9506 or I9505) you could possibly damage your phone and definitely void any warranty or insurance.
I wan't to update to 4.3 but it's samsung that has to release that update for this model, optus can't do anything until they receive it, by which time we will have already found it without the optus branding elswhere.
You can maybe hound samsung but I doubt that will get you far, I am going to kee on it though, will let you know if I get anywhere
Forgot to mention: because it is only a AUS and HK version the only place it could possibly be released before here is Hong Kong. I doubt Samsung would wait long if at all to release the AUS firmware if not at the same time as the Hong Kong. Meaning as soon as the update is available it will be automatically notified to you through kies or an OTA update. Unfortunately there is no getting it quicker from elsewhere as there is no elsewhere right now.

Advice on flashing to official (but non-telco) ROM

About to get a phone on contract with a major telco in Australia...
In theory, it's fine* to flash to another country/regional ROM that isn't telco_branded, so long as it's an official Samsung ROM, right?
Hoping to flash to an official Sammy ROM for a country/region that usually gets major Android updates far quicker than Australia or Australian telcos.
Thank-you.
*by "fine", I mean it won't trip Knox

I was on Telstra 4.4.4 then flashed to the Australian 5.0 on Sammy and knox tripped. There isn't Telstra 5.0 yet so I used the Australian one. I'm on N915G but the phone is a company phone so I'm not overly stressed on tripping knox. I think flashing a Telstra 5.0 on Sammy when available or OTA update you might be OK. Anyway went back to 4.4.4 I was missing Xposed to much among other things. Xposed for lollipop didn't play nice for me.
Sent from one of my Notes.
Damn it. Someone told me that; so long as you're flashing to an official Sammy ROM, it shouldn't trip.
What if I flashed to country/region other than Australia, & what if I went for a 4.x ROM instead of 5.x?
I don't care about root, xposed, & all that just yet, happy to be on a 4.x ROM...
Want to be on a stock one though not branded, & ideally one for a region/country that gets updates sooner & more regularly/reliably.

Not sure how the other poster had that happen (on their Note Edge I assume?) but anyway, you can't flash another region's Note 4 firmware like the good old days.
Samsung, for whatever reason, has made 20i-sh variants of the Note 4 and Australia has the N910G model. This G model is also used by India, Sri Lanka and Singapore (but Singapore has a different boot setup or kernel for some reason).
Your best bet is to flash XSA firmware which is Australian unbranded firmware, this will get updates quickest and it will remove any carrier bloat. Flashing this in Odin will not trip Knox, I've flashed it several times and even loaded the Indian firmware once and there were no issues but I've gone back o XSA. As soon as unbranded units start receiving the Lollipop OTA (reckon maybe another 6 monts? Sigh) you'll get it too instead of waiting for Telstra to delay it another 2-3 months.
Here's the link to it on Sammobile: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/39199/N910GDTU1ANK3_N910GXSA1ANK3_XSA/
Thanks mate,
So you reckon none of the countries in our pool*, will get it substantially -or even mildly- sooner than Oz?
If yes, what do you base that on?
Thanks again!

Doubt it! There's only been one real update in nearly 6 months and that was just after release date...i think India got it slightly earlier? Can't really recall! If you check sammobile.com and look at firmware for N910G you can see that these are the only countries. Any updates after November 2014 are carrier specific ones, but nothing for the unbranded models so it's hard to work out a trend of which country gets the updates earliest.
Don't even bother with Singapore because of the difference in their hardware, it's either India or Australia you have to pick from. And if you flash the Indian firmware you'll get charged for a stupid international Sms message to India when you first boot that it doesn't warn you about.
I asked the same question over at Sammobile and indications are that it won't trip Knox by flashing the Indian variant on an Australian phone. I haven't tried it myself though. But quite close to taking the plunge

So it looks like the LP OTA came out much sooner that you were lamenting!?!
Just in time for me, as I only got my Note4 last Wednesday evening
Still debating though, whether or not to go for one of the other variants listed here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910G/
Love to know if any of them have a track-record of getting it several wks (or more) sooner than Oz.*
Finally....
What do I need to proceed, just Odin & then away we go? Is it available for OSX , or is it Windows only?
I have access to a Windows env, so no "biggy" either way...
*I don't care about a 1 off international SMS charge, I'll also steer clear of Singapore ofc
I've since determined that yes, Odin is all I need, I think, & it's def. Windows-only, I think.
Main thing holding me up now, is this...
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2382726&p=40#r786
Several more posts back n forth after that one.
After all that's done, I'll be good to go with installing Odin & Kies in my Win10 VM, & then proceeding with the flashing.
But only after I've decided that I def. want to go for the Aussie ROM, or one of the others (excluding Singapore).

It was still about a month earlier! But not as bad as I was predicting You'll need Windows, I've never had luck on my macbook using variants of Odin designed for Mac, it's just too much hassle IMO.
You don't have many variants to pick from, India got the only two main updates that have been released for the 910G model 2 out of 2 times quicker than AU or Singapore so if you want the quickest updates and also want your gallery pics to auto-rotate along with being able to share to an email client from an image in the gallery then you'll be happy with the Indian ROM.
Just need to download the firmware, run Odin, turn off phone then hold Vol Down + Power until it loads 'Download Mode'. Press Vol Up to continue, plug your phone into PC, Odin will detect the phone (which you can tell if you see a port number appear) then click on the 'AP' button and locate the unzipped firmware file and flash. Takes a few minutes.
What about Sri-lanka, or that "Unknown" variant?
Hmm that last paragraph, little too vague for my liking, you aware for any detailed step-by-step tutes?
Thank-you!

Wouldn't bother with them! Actually, the steps are better explained on Sammobile under the download link. So this would be your preferred firmware along with better instructions.
They're not really detailed because it's a lot easier than it sounds, but if you're worried might be better to watch a youtube video first to get a visual i.e, https://youtu.be/Ulz-1UYzHBA
That vid shows it being done for the S4 but Odin is for most samsung phones so the steps are the same.

I think tryfound has a pretty good idea of what he's talking about, no need to "LOL".
He's from Oz too, a regular at WP (Whirlpool) no less...
Read all the posts again. You've missed one of the main points being made;
Hint: it's nothing to do with not being able to flash some CV's that are official Samsung fw.
