Voodo brightness contorls are on MIUI but not Darkys? - Galaxy S I9000 General

I used to use MIUI and it came with a Voodoo Sound/Control app that had settings for the intensity of each colour for the AMOLED screen.
I'm running darkys 9.5 now And I still have the Voodoo sound app but I cant figure out how to be able to adjust the brightness like I did on MIUI.
Anyone know how I can do this on Darkys?

You need a kernel with voodoo color support to do what you want. I'm guessing the rom you use doesn't have a supported kernel (I don't use darkys rom so I'm just assuming).
I'd recommend flashing talon kernel.

Thanks. Thats it. Are there any Kernels that are compatible with both Voodoo colour and Darkys 9.5?

Kernal for jvp

Which kernal are you guys using for jvp.
Could you answer the following:
1.quadrant score on third run with and without ext4
2.extra support eg.sharpness fix bln etc?
3.does everything work with it, no bugs?stable?
4.custom rom or stock?
Thanks, need some help making my mind up.
First (everytime such a thread comes up)! Its your decision!!
I recommend Semaphore Kernel which is based on Chainfire's initram.ds and has voodoo sound v9, OC/UV (up to 1.2Ghz) and runs flawlessly on JVH,JVO and JVP (on every ROM/Stock FW)

I also recommed semaphore kernel.
I also recommend semaphore kernel...
my quadrank score on third run with OC to 1.2 Ghz and Ext 4 is 2756
even without any custom kernel, 2.3.4 rocks the quadrant!!
alng with this, u get Voodoo V9

Now I´m going to try semaphore kernel, all the people said this kernel it´s awesome.
I always prefer the stock roms
dark core is pretty nice too, has lagfix, voodoo 9 and everything.
Thanks guys think I will give semaphore a go, so many recommendations. Jvp is a great leap forward in rom development for our galaxy.not sure about overclocking at the moment, feel like I dont need it. btw currently on ramads deodexed jvp with cfroot and juwes ram script.

for now semaphore kernel
Actually stock and supercurio's kernel are the only ones with fixed autobrightness but you have to leave overclock, sharpness fix, voodoo sound etc. With supercurio's you get ext4 lagfix + hacks, this is my choice, waiting for a fixed dark core 2.x.

Choosing the right kernel

Hi all,
My Galaxy S i9000 will arrive tomorrow and I'd like to be prepared how to and which kernel to flash.
I'll probably just flash JVQ, the latest official Gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM. But I can't decide which kernel to use. My main priority is the performance and safety (by this I mean recovery options).
I have found two kernels which might fit my needs.
First of all SpeedMod Gingerbread. It has EXT4 lagfix and sound improvements etc. It seems good to me.
There are no instructions for this one, but my guess is to just flash the .tar with ODIN as PDA?
Second I have found CF-Root. There are clear instructions so I don't need help how to, but is this a good option as a kernel?
What kernel do you think is the best for the Gingerbread ROM JVQ?
Also, what about CWM? How do I boot into this recovery? Does it replace the default recovery?
Sorry for the noob questions, but as you see I'm quiet uncertain about these things, though I've read alot.
Thanks
Stock JVQ ?
Why won't you flash a custom ROM ? For example you could install Insanity's, Darky's, etc... which are sort of "packages" containing everything you are looking for.
Each one of them have a specific forum in Dev, with flashing explanations.
As for kernels, if I ever needed to change, I'd go for Glitch.
I would wait and use cf root when its released and if your not happy with the speed then use an oc kernal.there are many packages that will be available for all the mods you want in the themes section.this way you will be as close to stock as possible avoiding any unwanted issues
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've considered Darky's 10.1, but I dunno, I don't like the green colors and everything.
Insanity and glitch look cool. I must have overlooked this ROM, I might consider it. Thanks for the tip
Stock with CF-Root seems to be the fastest in Quadrant. I'm in doubt.
bro i think u have to keep Cf-root i install jvq and put Speedmod in it but u cant image it doesnot contain Superuser and cmw after that i install Cf-root it really better then speedmod this time not always.........i hope u can go with cf root
Have you considered other kernels like Semaphore, Galaxian or Talon?
All of these have OC/UV capabilities, EXT 4 and more performance tweaks than CF-Root itself.
Speedmod is currently undergoing major developments (less stable versions being tested). You can wait until it has a stable version before flashing.
And you can buy Voodoo control plus if you want great sound.
I know Talon has Voodoo sound v9 built in. So, take your pick
For stock JVQ I recommend to use stock kernel until the custom kernels have updated JVQ initframs.

I'll look intro Talon. I won't overclock my device as I want it too last as long as possible The Voodoo stuff seems interesting. Would it work if I just flashed it over CF-Root? Guess not. I would have to flash the stock kernel and then Talon again?
With the latest stock JVQ I'm getting 1400 score in Quadrant, kinda low. I'm now attempting to convert to ext4, but the system folder has too less space, trying to move some apps.
Edit:
With everything converted to ext4 I now have 2300, that's better I'll leave it like this I think. I'm fine. Thanks for the tips
In that case i would recommend to use Talon 0.3.1 without OC.
try galaxian kernel for jvp and feel the speed...

absolutely flying
yep, use Stock JVQ 2.3.4 (not deodexed! many errors: phone and browser fcs) and galaxian kernel.
My SGS is flying with that combination
damian kernel flies with jvq and has what you want scores of 3500 to 3700

Sure. Patiently waiting.
Actually after downloading my own post and looking, it will work for your phone. It only flashes the zImage and keeps your current ramdisk. So ya that should work but here is one that flashes the whole boot.img (attached)
Future reference: zImage + ramdisk=boot.img
So...any kernel that just flashes the zImage will be advertised as working on any rom.
The zips that are for GSM or NS4g specifically will most likely have the boot.img in it as opposed to just flashing the zImage. It flashes the whole boot partition.
For future reference the paid app only requires root, not a custom kernel. Show support and buy the extremely well made and maintained app.

Valuable info there. Thanks for the heads up!
And the paid app doesnt let you change the color profiles. Only has voodoo sound improvements. Bought it already.
Flashed it. Everything looking good. But I cant change the gamma and rgb values in voodoo control. Does it have the older voodoo drivers? All i want to be able to do is set custom rgb and gamma values on the stock kernel. If you can help me do that i'll be grateful! Thanks for all you've already done though.
Color profiles isn't available to you in voodoo app?

I can only select color profiles. Screen RGB multipliers and Screen v1 gamma hack aren't available. Would like them too.

Last time I checked the paid app doesn't have the color settings, as soon as these settings are added I'll buy it for sure

The one he made for you includes the pre 2.2.3 colors. That kernel will not allow the rgb and gamma hack. The pre 2.3.3 colors are awesome anyways.

Exactly. I was asking him if he could possibly make one where I can change RGB values and Gamma. No fret otherwise. The pre-2.3.3 one is running awesome.
Personally that's what i was looking for...one small problem though...i cannot connect to wireless anymore...in settings under wireless it says error and i can't even turn it on...ideas?

Hi - Is there any chance someone could make a 2.3.6 GRK39F kernel with the pre-2.3.3 color drivers that works on I9020T? - Thanks in advance!
I think the Lucid kernel is quite close to stock. It has Voodoo + BLN + UV. BLN is deactivated by default if you don't install the BLN app from the market. UV is applied by default, but this kernel is known to be one of the most stable kernel anyway, so I don't think UV is a bad thing.
You can save a lot of hassle by using the Lucid kernel rather than asking someone to compile the kernel for you. There are both NS and NS4G kernels, and pre-2.3.3 and post-2.3.3 colour profiles, a total of 4 types of kernels to choose from.

I looked at that. Problem is a) it doesn't support 2.3.6, and b) it's not the stock kernel. I don't want undervolting or BLN or any of the other tweaks contained in that kernel. I'd rather just have the pure stock Google kernel with the pre-2.3.3 drivers, and no other mods. To each their own.

It does support 2.3.6. I'm running it with Oxygen 2.3, which is now based on 2.3.7. I understand people might not want to use BLN and UV, but I don't understand the logic...
These may be part of the kernel, but they don't get in the way of normal use if you simply ignore them. But anyway, each person has his/her own choices.

kernel sound modul

Hello
Is a kernel sound modul exist for iconia a500 ?
I wan't to test VOODOO but, it asks me i must have a custom kernel modul
TIA
Same here, I tried voodoo control plus also and no dice (mine's rooted with Thor's kernel). Maybe contact the Voodoo developer and see if he could make a port or add the kernel to one of the custom roms. I'd totally get it.

[Q] Possible to run Gingerbread rom and have Voodoo sound?

I'm not sure how to ask this, I saw there was a new rom, and the last I ran, Voodoo Control didn't support it, and there was no voodoo kernel. Is anything different now?
