I've already posted questions about network speeds so...
I've read about issues with apps showing up weird due to screen size. Does anyone have issues with common apps such as Facebook, tapatalk, other popular apps? Will I have full access to the app market?
I plan on ordering from Handtec, has anyone used them? Who honors the Samsung 2 yr warranty that comes with this device?
Is there anything else I should know or be concerned about when picking up this device?
I thinks that it's still up in the air. I'll most likely just get a Squaretrade warranty and be done with it. Have had great luck with them.

I recently bought a used HD Touch T8282 for around $150.
However the more I read and hear about the T8282 Model, The more it sounds like it wasnt the best idea, Especially since I'm in the US.
How far can get making this phone fully functional with US services?
Or should I just forget about it and put it up for sale, Then buy another phone?
Thoughts?
Alright,
After diving into and reading a 37 page thread~My questions are pretty much answered and I have a headache.
Looks like I made a bad investment...
I'll try and recover money by selling it, Then look into purchasing an 8285 or Droid Phone.
Depends on what you are after. Many (Many!) people want the Smart Phone WITHOUT the Data Plan - if that is your goal, you are right on. You do not have to load any "special" programs to hide your Data Access from AT&T. That is my situation, I want all the features of the Touch HD but the Data Plan is just too expensive. I have Wi-Fi in most of the areas I transit so I do have the Net available for the most part. However, if you want access to the WEB from where ever you have a Cell Signal you did, as you say, made a bad investment.
I purchased a Nexus 4 off of craigslist which was purchased originally from Koodo. After 4 months of the phone working fine, buddy reported the phone stolen to get himself a new hardware upgrade(*&@#*^@). Now the phone cannot access the cellular network. I'm curious as to weather I can in any with remedy this lockout with root access somehow. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

1st questions get posted in Q&A, not in the general section. people dont look for questions to answer here.
2nd if the phone was reported stolen, and they had the imei blacklisted, then most likely you are left with just a wifi device.
You could try to find a network that doesn't use that blacklist. I'm pretty sure you can find one that won't check. Else, you might have to seek other methods that can't really be discussed on this forum.
I'm not very familiar with Craigslist, but I'm guessing they don't have the buyer protection that eBay does.

Craigslist is on-line want ads and this is why I will never buy a phone off anyone who advertises on it.
Thanks for the information folks, I'm going to keep looking around to see what I can do about getting on another network. Its just so frustrating when people take advantage of a person like this. =/
Ok, so I hope in my searching I didn't miss the answer to my question.
I'm looking at getting the S5 Verizon Developer Edition. I contacted Samsung (no, I don't know why I bothered). I wanted to know if download booster was blocked like on the regular version, what their return policy was, if the electric blue would be an option, what unlocking/rooting would require, etc.
My main question was about the rooting/unlocking and the download booster. Does anyone know what it takes to root/unlock the developer edition? I know it's not locked down like the normal version...but I don't know if it's an option you can just select or if I'd have to find a root/unlock here on XDA.
Any/all info on what the developer edition differences really are would be greatly appreciated!
I contacted them again today to ask. They are now telling me they do believe that Download booster is enabled. BUT...they're telling me I can only return the device if it's new and unopened. I am worried what if I have any issues with activation (which would require me to open the box...duh). They have transferred my call to 4 departments, and no one is sure if they would allow a return under those circumstances. I really don't want to spend $600 on a phone that I can't do anything with.
Does anyone here have any experience with the S5 developer edition??
Not sure if anyone reading this thread is interested as I've gotten no posts, but I did get an official reply directly from Samsung's offices (from the President's office to be exact).
Hello Mr. ____,
Thank you for your inquiry. Please see below responses to the concerns you have inquired about:
“does Download Booster work on this device as Verizon disabled it on their version?” -> The software on the device behaves the same as the consumer version of the Verizon GS5.
“does unlocking the device void the warrantee?” -> The device comes with an unlocked bootloader, the warranty is a 30 day hardware warranty or until the device has been modified beyond factory specifications. If the device requires service we will be able to provide a service estimate on repairs requires outside of the 30 day warranty period.
“My question is if I get the device and Verizon is unable to activate it on their network (which would require me to open the box to test this), can I return it?” ->For this reason the restocking fee can be waived on a case by case basis.

Thanks for going through the trouble of contacting Samsung on this. I am generally concerned with the ability to root, and of course activate on Verizon network (???). I never thought activation would even be a question. Do you have anything that instigated that concern or are you just being thorough?

No, I didn't have a reason to think the activation wouldn't work other than being cautious.
I just know that when you buy an item and there are no returns once opened, I get worried that when some other company gets involved, it'll become a blame game and Verizon would say "We didn't sell it".
The more I play with other peoples S5's, the less I see a need to upgrade personally though. I'm running a great ROM right now on my Galaxy Nexus. I just want a phone that as everything, and his (and all phones) seem to be lacking in a few areas. I really wish I could just call them (Samsung, HTC, etc.) to tell them what I want in my phone!

I am surprised that you can live with the Galaxy Nexus. I have one as well (with Verizon's extended battery), and the battery life is completely abysmal. the GS5 is a new world of long battery life and I can actually turn on ALL of the features I wan't without being chained to a charging cord. I had a retail S5 for about 3 weeks before selling it to pay for my Dev version. It was a monumental upgrade over my GNex in every regard, except I missed rooting too much to keep it.
Yeah, I hate the battery life. I have 2 of the extended batteries, and I keep one in my pocket at all times. The batter life is a joke...between waking up and leaving the house an hour later, I can be down to 70% battery life fairly often.
I do want the battery life of the newer high end devices (S5, M8), but I'm hoping the S5 active has everything I really want (3 GB RAM, image stabilization, Snapdragon 805, replaceable battery, memory card slot, etc. etc. etc).
Thinking about buying one at best buy tomorrow to use on t mo.
Is it worth it from a long time Samsung note user?

thank you, been reading about connection issues.
May be changing my mind.

I have Tmoblie and have no issues at all with connection or speeds. As for bugs there are no more or no less then you will find on ANY other cell phone to include LG, Samsung and HTC.
If you are not on Tmobile or AT&T then you are defiantly going to have some trouble with 4G as the CDMA carriers haven't green lighted the phone yet so people that complain about being VZW and having issues is their own fault and not the fault of the phone.
Do I like this phone? Yes
Would I buy it again? Yes
Is it worth it? That depends on the carrier and personal needs. For me it's a Yes.
I would say yes if ZTE actually provided the basics expected which means:
- Unlocked bootloader or easily unlockable without the BS voiding of the warranty (which I'm sure wouldn't stand up in any court in the west if any of these companies were challenged on it).
- Stock images, seriously, what kind of company doesn't provide these? So far it's only available for the CN and EU variants, those of us in NA are SOL.
The lack of software support has lead me to not unlocking/rooting the phone yet which I never imagined would be this INFURIATING. Without root I can't properly block any ads. The internet is absolute AIDS if ads aren't blocked. 80% of my data is eaten by ads, and the ads make me just not want to use the internet on my phone, not buy the ****ty products they're advertising.
So only buy it if you're willing to officially void your warranty to unlock/root it, without a stock image being available if you're in NA, to properly block ads.
I've been looking into this or the N6p and I am on T-Mobile. I've read a lot about reception issues but does best buy allow you to return for a full refund if you don't like it? I've never bought a phone from best buy so I'm curious

$35 restocking fee.
I have T-mobile, no problems with connection or speed at all. The warranty runs for 2 years so you have plenty of time to send it back should a problem occurs. As always, people who do have problems with their Axon 7 are more likely to be vocal about it compared to those who don't.
As always, people who do have problems with their Axon 7 are more likely to be vocal about it compared to those who don't.
Two observations:
1. Lots of people here who don't have problems with the A7 are telling people who do have problems that they don't have a problem and telling potential buyers that there are no problems. Meanwhile there are zero people with problems telling people who don't have problems that, actually, they do have a problem.
2. There are 45 reviews of the A7 on Amazon Germany of which 11, just shy of a quarter, cite problems with cellular reception.
Perhaps people who don't have reception issues could regard people who do as unfortunates hoping for a fix via an update rather than as fifth columnists dissing the glorious product.
Amazon reviews are hardly scientific but it's not impossible that there is a quality control issue with this phone. Publicising the problem, especially on forums like this, which manufacturers DO read, is more likely to encourage ZTE to make better devices than telling people to suck it up.
Ok, I'm done

Depends on the issue.
The no VoLTE & simultaneous voice and data issue, yes Verizon is to blame.
The CDMA issues with carrier name, MCC-MNC value, roaming indicator, etc. are issues with TelephonyManager, which is something that ZTE has to fix, Verizon greenlighting the phone wouldn't fix these underlying CDMA issues.
Hi guys. So my mother in law needs a new phone. I was considering getting her the Amazon ad version but I'm curious how it performs and if the Amazon bloat effects anything. Any input appreciated
Well I guess no one has one lol. I got it for my mother in law and it seems to perform just fine. Finger print however does take two scans instead of one scan. The first scan brings up the ad screen so there's no way to bypass the ad screen
I was searching for a YouTube of exactly how the amazon bloat ware looks, and I never really saw a good one- but YouTube is where I would search for your question.
I bought the 32gb version and I've had some force closes and hangs on apps- but from what I've read that may not happen if one buys the 64gb one with more ram.
The amazon suggestions are very minor, if your do a double tap of the sensor, all notifications go away. I never paid any attention to what they were. I can't even recall any.

Has anybody unlocked the bootloader and flashed the stock (non-amazon) rom to the phone?
I know this has been possible with ad-supported amazon phones in the past.
sorrry..moto g5 plus amazon version has locked bootloader, can not be unlocked...i returned mine in favor of non amazon version..work beautifully
