MikG - Sense 2.1 3.0 v2.60 - EVO 4G General

I tried to post on his thread but don't have 10 posts. Just wanted to say thanks and that this ROM is amazing. Very fast, awesome battery life and no issues yet.
More Freedom v0.9 kernel
SetCPU running at max 1113600 - min 245000, scaling on "smartass" and no profiles.
Over 40 hours on Ebay 3,500 mAh battery, light usage but 3G, GPS and WIFI on as well as a live wallpaper.
Waiting on a new HDMI cord to play with full mirroring and downloaded tasker but need to read some tutorials.

A few more from today with moderate to heavy usage. GPS, WIFI and 3G on and about 45 minutes of navigation and 6 hours of Audiogalaxy. And I also forgot to switch SetCPU back to "smartass" from "performance" so I was running at 1113600 all day.

Yea,mikg is a great rom,i was getting great benchmarks and battery life is ok,im on TN Xplod right now, which is also a great rom,now xplod has great battery life.

I'm using mikeg as well. Good rom, just wondering what the best/most stable kernel is for it. This is my wife's phone, so rather not have it mess up on her out in the wild.

She should do just fine with the stock HTC kernel that comes with the rom. It is the most stable and has good battery life.

ROM & Kernel with the best battery life?

Hi, so far the only rom I have used is CM6, and the battery life is just absolutely terrible. Maybe its just my nexus, maybe not, point is I want a new ROM.
A ROM that you guys have tried and decided to stick to.
Battery life is VERY important to me.
Try IntersectRaven's CFS kernel, best I have found for CM
For ROM try Enomther, battery life pretty good on that one

I had been using CM 6 for a while and just recently switched over to Enomether's latest TheOfficial ROM. The battery life is now DRAMATICALLY better. Just looking over the Juice Plotter graphs shows that the standby time overnight is almost flat. Say 3-4% drop every 3 hours or so. With CM6, the battery level is on a constant and steeper decline, even when not in use. I didn't take any records, but my N1 on CM6 would be down to ~45-50% overnight if I forget to plug in the charger (from full). I heard that SetCpu will help, but I don't think it worked out for me.
Enomether has its own CPU Governor and while it doesn't offer as many features as SetCPU - the ROM's default settings work well right out of the box - no tweaking is needed really for the CPU governor.
I too was having really poor battery life with CM6, losing about 50% within 8 hours after charge, without even using the phone much! I'm trying out other roms right now just for fun. I'm using Evil's Nxsense but with the kernal posted by Autinhyeu (post # 8541 in that thread). So far seems to be holding battery extremely well. About 5 hours since charge and about 90% battery.
LeoFroYo Rom is pretty good with battery
try the leofroyo rom latest beta. i get great battery in standby with the stock kernal that it comes with. 2.5 hrs per 1% battery. typically in a day making calls and using the internet, i lose about 30%-25% battery. not too bad.

2.0.1 beta 3 is the latest version that i'm using

cm sucks when it comes to battery life in my experience. i tried the 6.0 version when it came out (first stable release) and battery life was horrible.
5 hours since charge? only standby or some usage?

That was mostly standby with setcpu profile setting cpu to minimum when the screen was off. But even with those same settings on CM6 my battery would be about 70% after the same amount of time.
I just reflashed cm6 but with that other kernal so I'll see how well it works today.
MIUI has the best battery life of any ROM I've used on my N1.. idle drain of about .5% / hour when using pershoot's kernels from droidbasement.
I'm using shadow rom2.1 stripped down and I get about 16 to 18 hours usage.

I'm using CM6 and my battery life is great. I got rid of my Seidio extended battery to get an Otterbox case and the stock battery on CM6 is awesome.
My phone has been off the charger since before 1pm and now at midnight its on 46% and thats with heavy use of Angry Birds, text, emails and web browsing !
My battery life is also acceptable on cm6. Not amazing but acceptable. Then again I put mine in airplane mode overnight and get about a 4% drain, which I kind assume might be something to do with my Widgets.
Okay, so I decided to try one of these two ROMs:
Enomther
LeoFroYo
not sure which one yet, and not sure what kernel to use with the ROM I choose.
I hate switching ROMs cuz of the wiping and restoring and all that crap.

[Q]Best Battery ROM

Hi guys!
My gf just got a HTC Magic but i don't know much about this phone so i would like you to give me a few tips. I have a N1 so i'm not a totally newbie to android and the ROMs thing.
I've installed CM6.1 into hers phone. Also i've installed and configured Pershoot kernel with setCPU:
Install SetCPU 2.x (by coolbho)
Autodetect, Min: 122, Max: 576, onboot, ondemand
Do not enable or setup Advanced

but i'm not liking the battery life of the phone right now. I let it during the night with 64% battery life and in the morning (8h later) it was at 60%. It looked great for me. The problem is that like for each 5min using it 1% of battery drops. It is just not normal! Is it the kernel? Or CM6.1 or...?
So, my real question is: Is there a "combo" of ROM-kernel-radio-cpu-whatEverElse to get a great battery life? Should i stay with CM6.1 or change to a another (based or not in CM6.1)?
Thank you all
Make a new profile in SetCPU for when the phone's display is off. I use 176mhz max 122mhz min, and 590MHz min/max (performance profile) during the day.
I normally use my phone for ~an hour a day during school and maybe another hour when I'm at home, battery is always around 50% by the end of the day. Which I consider to be fine, I can use it two days without charge but that's a bit of a stretch.
Anywho, radio and SPL combos aren't an issue, forget about them. ROM & kernel is what's important. I don't flash ROMs very often but I'd highly recommend t-mobile's Froyo build, it doesn't contain any bloat, unlike CM and becuse of that seems to perform even better.
I have ran cm 6.1 rc1 and the battery life is not the greatest. In my opinion cm6.0 stable has better battery life.

I have been in cyanogenmod foruns and i found that more people arent totally happy with cm6.1. Looks like that the last kernel (35.x) has some problems. There i read that the kernel 34.x doesnt have this problem. Im testing that kernel now.

ok guys!
i think i found a way to get cyanogenmod 6.1 working with "good battery"
i only installed ezterry kernel (that i found in this post) and now i get much better battery life.
i believe i will get a steady 3days with with some wifi usage

Using CM7? You must read this! (Correct post)

Ok guys. I have to admit, I was about to give up on CM7 due to battery issues and what seemed to be memory leaks progressively making my phone lag more and more throughout the day. I have found something some of you may not be aware of and I wanted to share this amazingly helpful kernel with you.
Using x99, Scary, and stock kernels regardless of governor I seemed to maybe get 8 hours of battery life with moderate to heavy use. I am proud to say, using bcnice20's kernel I have had my phone on for 9 hours with 60% battery life today. This is incredible, even with lighter use on the other kernels I had NOWHERE near this amount of battery left.
Most of you may not have seen this kernel because it isn't posted. (as far as im aware) Let me help you out. First, go into your Market and download Kernel Manager. There is a lite version in there that is free. If you have an extra buck or two donate to the developer for making a neat app where you can download kernels in a convenient place by downloading the pro version.
What you will be downloading is called bcblend SIO tinyRCU kernel. I have not tried VR tinyRCU kernel yet. Not sure what the differences are, if someone could elaborate that'd be appreciated.
Regardless, I find the sweet spot for this to be at 245MHz min and 1GHz max on Interactive governor to work really well. The phone does not seem to get laggier throughout the day and consistently performs well, snappy, and just way better than the other kernels. (No offense to x99 and Scary, I appreciate all you've done!)
Give it a try and let me know if you all have similar results! I have heard that AOSP gets less battery than Sense ROMs from people on this very forum, and this may be the kernel to put that little debate to rest.
Oh, and be sure you have the latest CM7. I am on 7.0.2.1 trying this out.
Thanks ima try this out

Well with CM7 and the x99 kernal seems to give me the best battery life with the SMARTASS governor. About 20 hours with medium to heavy use.

There is no link at this point, you have to do it via kernel manager. I'd upload it but I don't want to without bc's permission.
I haven't use any other "controllers" other than the one built into cm7... can I use that or is there a prefered one to change governers and such. Thanks!

Since CM7 lets you change governors right in its settings I uninstalled SetCPU for now, in theory I would think it would cause more battery drain but I don't know for sure. But yes I just changed it right in CM7. I changed the governor to interactive and set the max cpu frequency to 1036MHz.
Gonna try this out. I love CM7 but the battery is killing me. I pray this works.
Android system & cell standby seem to be the battery use culprit. I will give this a try though but don't really think its in the kernel. Ill report back...

This kernel seems to be really good about not sucking the battery while on standby for me, that seems to be the crown jewel of it all. Right Now I am at 14 hours off the charger with 29% left.. remember I was lucky to get 8 hours most days before using this kernel.
This is off-topic, but along the same lines: which kernels gave the best battery life for Sense?

It seems to be true. I'm def getting better battery life. I also calibrated my battery but I've done that before without any major change. So far I have 5 hours of quite a bit of use and I'm at 71% I would normally be around 55-60% by now. I wonder what the main difference is with the kernel...

[Q] best rom and kernal for battery life

i am sure there is a thread on here already for this but i can't seem to find it i am looking for the best kernal and rom combo with the ultimate battery life with also o.c. supportive as well i am wondering what is it that i can do or flash i am currently running g.b. stock rom with a cynobenmod kernal i am wondering what everyone else best experience is also batteries ext. does anyone have a great cheap battery that extended there life on the evo i use tethering about 5 hours a day and i really need that to work to last all day and making 6-7 phone calls thorugh out that day just so you know i am using a evo 4g
if you don't mind AOSP-based ROMs, try Deck's ROM ([6-21-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [1.2][2.3.4 Stable] - xda-developers) and then flash a Tiamat kernel (I've been using the latest and its been great) ([Kernel][AOSP] Tiamat | 2.6.38.8 | 6/6/11 -xda-developers). You can also try viperboy's undervolt mod [MOD]viperMOD for AOSP Kernels - v3 beta RC2.4 |Updated 6.14.11|*App in Progress!* - xda-developers on top of the kernel...helps out with battery life. Try the -100mv first then step down gradually till your phone is stable again
I agree with cg about decks and viperboys script. I personally get better battery life and performance with savagedzen. Also try underclocking down to 691....I do and notice no slowdown.
I have been using MikG v2.15 and battery life has never been better. Also it is far more stable than the custom kernels with voltage tweakers in my experience.
+1 to what Ronnie said. I like leaving as much stock as possible. I am running MikG 2.2 and never have to worry about a charger.

I've used MikG, Synergy, KingsROM, etc. (essentially all of the GB Sense-based ROMs that were 2.1/3.0 hybrids). And yea MikG had the best battery life compared to the others but I would only get maybe 12 hours out of it. What are your settings??
I'm with the Deck's crowd here. I use Deck's with Tiamat 3.3.7 (too lazy to try the newer versions), and I don't usually hit 50% battery life till about 18-ish hours off charger with constant texting/Tweetdeck/push notifications and a few phone calls.
I am not using any special settings or tweaks. Using Google sync to access 4 email accounts, etc. Also I unchecked the Always On Mobile Data setting.
It has been 100% stable - no stalls, connectivity issues, or anything like that.
Nice thing about MikG is that it uses Sense.
Decks and the latest tiamat sbc w viper boy....2600 mah battery I'll get 40hrs
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Try MIUI's newest release...not sure what it is off the top of my head. Definitely the best battery life I've ever gotten. Get a solid 15 -16 hours with medium to heavy usage. (fbook, youtube, calls, texting, web browsing, downloading).
Im with you - Im on MikG now I love the ROM but I do not even get 12 hours with a 3500 mah battery. That is on a heavy usage day on low usage days I get 18 houirs. Not horrible but not good. Was actually looking for a sense based ROM with better battery.
Cyanogenmod 7 with tiamat kernel, stable version gives me great performance and stability and GREAT battery life.
Check my sig for my setup, I am currently using my AOSP setup. I get at least a day with heavy usage, stock battery. I use Juice Defender too, it seems to work well, especially with AOSP ROMs.
Radios matter too, if you have high Android System usage or cell standby, flash some new radios.
NANDROID.

Best Battery Life..

Hi, let me first say sorry for this post. I know there are a million..
I do not have a Inc but my daughter does, last time I messed with it, I put CM7 rc3 on it right when rc3 was released. ever since then I have not read one word on the development of this phone. The phone runs good but battery life could be better.
Is there anything better than CM7? looking for the best battery life possible. Please suggest ROM/Kernel. sense or senseless.
Thanks,
Coming from an avid user of Sense I would say CM7, MIUI, and OMGB or OMFGB are the "best" with battery as they are stripped of Sense. If you don't get good battery life with any of those AOSP roms, kernel combo or not, there isn't much more anyone can do.
I only use Sense roms but I know if battery life & Senseless were my thing, I would have an AOSP rom. Not sure on kernels, the crowd can fill you in on their experience.
Best bet would be to flash incredikernel, and then dl incredicontrol from the market. Stick with cm7, use the underclocking app of your choice, and then use incredicontrol to lower the voltages at different frequencies...if it reboots, go one back until its stable.

I would suggest flashing the newest CM nightly. There have been some changes and kernel tweaks since rc3.
I'm on 10 1/2 hours sitting at 70%, albeit light use, but still I usually get at least a day and a half with moderate use.
I'm a big fan of Jermaine's In-Sensitive Minimalist ROM. It has by far been the fastest and best on battery life for me.
I'm on the latest cm nightly. I use incrediblekernel with aggressive voltage. I have CPU set to 128 min and 664 Max. I could last all day plus with moderate to heavy usage.

I can overclock tinys to 1.113, minimum 245, and its very stable, very fast, and i get a good 12+ hours with HEAVY use. Thats on a stock day one battery. Ive got about as old a dinc you can get, been rooted longer than i can remember, and flashed atleast 3 to 4 times most weeks. Tryin out newts new runny rom now, dont know about battery yet on it. I'll second this. In-Sensitive Minimalist takes out almost all of the bloat of Sense, but leaves in the framework and the best apps. With Tiny's modules and SetCPU you can basically get it to run for days with minimal usage and 24-30 hrs with normal usage on a 1500mAH battery, which are $10 from Amazon.com and a good deal.
If you want to stick with Sense, that's the ROM to use. Otherwise, CM is a good choice.
