Battery Life - sense 2.0 vs sense 3.5 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

hey
i used moto mytouch4g and got nice battery life around 40hours
and now with sense 3.5 got around 24hours
anyway to make it last longer ?
i did same uninstillation of apk i dont need, is there apk that drain more battery ?

sense 2.0 will definietely return a longer battery life. Its less heavy on the hardware and the ROM is smaller(the size). So booting up time will be lesser, also in the name of battery life. For apks, it depends on what apps are they. If they constantly run in the background or if they are Android processes, it will hamper battery life. Also, the more apps you have, the longer the boot time will be,draining more juice. As you should know, our HD2s will not have the battery life of stock Android phones like your moto,so yeh 24hrs should be your benchmark.Back to the verdict, for battery life, the sense 2.0 ROM will definitely fare better. Anyways, although the devs have done an excellent job to perfect Sense 3.0 roms, its still a bit 'sluggish'.So its your call.
Hope this helps man.

Best ROM for battery life...

Well, I know that most ROMs claim to have better battery life and yada, yada, yada. But which one do you believe is the winner? I have only tried Fresh other than stock and I can't complain. But for you, which one do you feel offers the best battery life performance?!
Thanks in advance...
I got great battery life in DamageControl, but I dumped that for CyanogenMod.
This may not be the exact answer you were looking for, but I've found that using an underclocking kernel I get great battery life, even with the latest cyanogen nightly. You might want to try using SetCPU if you haven't done that already.
DamageControl
DamageControl v3.2.3 using DConfig with the profile set to battery Saver. My battery last for days (moderate use).
I believe t0ast3d de1ight has the best battery
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
All very subjective but I've been reading that Baked Snack is specifically geared towards battery life.
like above poasts state, rom does not matter, undervolt kernal + setcpu/phone setting settings does
cm heavy usage > 18 hours regular use 36 hours idle for days
Best I had was baked snack 9. 7 I got al most 24 hours on a charge with normal usage
Ava 2. 2v3 I. Got 18 hours
Cm6 barely 8 hours
sent with my evo from a secret place

I second this. I was using this setup before updating to official 2.2. I was getting about 5-6 hours of usage(I.e. When you're actually using your phone--Screen on browsing the web, using apps) plus around 20 hours of "Uptime" (standby, screen off).
I am getting equal or better battery life with the official 2.2 update. I am surprised I'm not seeing more people mention just how good battery life is with it.
BakedSnack with 3rd kernel did miracles for me

I also have been having good battery life on the official pre-release, just about on par with what I had running baked snack 9.6, which underclocked a good amount for battery life. Very pleased with the new release, I haven't had any problems going from a fresh wipe to this update.
I would bet most people haven't really noticed how good the battery life has been because they've been busy trying to restore backups, apps, and test out the camera functionality.
Best battery life I had was DC 3.2.3 with Battery config, SetCPU w/ undervoltage kernel, JuiceDefender, and Autostarts configed. Got about 26 hours moderate usage. I still get excellent battery life using the same setup on CM6, around 20-24 hours.
I'm getting great battery life with the leaked, stock 2.2
I think it is almost impossible to prove a rom has the best battery life when there are so many options/tweaks that can be done to every rom and all phones won't necessarily act the exact same.
Choose a rom based on functionality and features that appeal to you and then figure out how to obtain the battery life you want through different tweaks/usage. They all can have great battery life.

I believe people that have tried multiple ROMs can accurately assess which is better/worse in terms of battery life. Obviously there can be variations due to tweaks, apps, and usage, but it isn't difficult to get a sense of where you stand. I know I noticed a drastic increase coming from stock to Fresh.

True, what I should have said was without testing yourself and keeping variables the same, you can't just take the word of others.

problem: Dialer using 82% of battery power?

What the heck?
I noticed recently that I have battery drain, and now I noticed this in the battery stats window...anyone have a clue how this comes about? (I am using stock 2.1)

I have to ask.... Why the F are you still doing on 2.1? REALLY? 2.2 improves battery life 2-5x faster application speeds and much-much more!
Sorry for being blunt but common! It's FROYO!!!
I have another Evo which i put 2.2 on and I found differences in terms of battery life and speed to be marginal at best.
Also there are more posts about people losing functionality with the custom ROMs than I can count...
I had been getting around 24 hrs of use between charges until this...
only thing lost moving to froyo is 8MP cam down to 3MP cam with the custom kernel, still takes good pictures though.

Mine came stock with 2.1, after loaded 2.2 I noticed better application execution times out of the gate. Battery at least a full 8-10 hours of use hard core use (non-4G) 4G coverage here is not that that great so it kills the battery fast. I then opted for the 3500mah batter for the evo and no longer worry about the battery but every 3 days or so...

[Q] Battery Issues? Sense the culprit?

I recently picked up the G2, and quickly rooted it and flashed it with the MoDaCo SENSE ROM r2, I love me some sense.
But it seems my battery life is horrible, maybe 4 hours of a little bit above normal use, maybe 5 hours of regular use. Even tried forcing just 2G for a day, to see if that helps, and same results.
Is Sense that much of a battery hog? Is my battery defective? Any other ideas about why the charge lasts so little?
Yes, Sense is a battery hog. Switch to an AOSP ROM for the best battery.

Not sure why your getting such poor battery life with sense. I average about 34-38 hrs with sense using CPU tuner, pershoot kernel and some other minor tweaks. That is with moderate use aswell.
Sent from my CyanogenMod powered G2.
That bad tho? I mean its the same phone as the DesireZ, and I have a hard time believing that a stock DesireZ only lasts 1/3 of a day.
@Utorrent76 - I haven't messed with kernels yet, maybe thats where my issues lie?

Dinc Battery Life improved with new ROM

Well, like many of us Dinc users...we struggle with battery life. I could barely get my battery to last more than 8-10 hours of light use....even using battery managing apps, etc.
If you haven't tried the MIUI Rom....download the latest and give it a try. I've always loved MIUI...but the latest version added some really cool features. EVEN BETTER...MUCH better battery management. For the last 10 days, my battery has been lasting at least 24 or more hours of light use. 12-13 hours of mod to heavy use. I couldn't believe the difference, but the update to MIUI 1.6.17 is the only thing I've changed.
Hope this is helpful....

Never flashed MIUI because of the Iphone look. Since I use Launcher Pro, though, maybe I'll give it a try today. In any case, thanks for the info on the battery. We'll see........
Been trying MIUI out lately and while it's a great rom, not being able to have the Swipe down opening up my notification bar is a feature I can't go without (case makes it hard to grab the top of notification bar). While I could simply switch to ADW for the feature, I feel using ADW takes away from the feel of MIUI.
In my experience so far with MIUI, the battery life seems the same as it was in CM7 (my daily driver), I average about 14-16 hours with CM7 running incredikernel
One ROM I would recommend is the SkyRaider 4.1 ROM! It has incredible battery life! Lasts me a whole day with 3G on all the time! Definitely check it out!

What's up with the battery on ports vs stock?

I thought my battery was doomed.. Until I tried a Note 7 Port. For some reason I get MUCH better battery life on the ports than "stock" custom roms.
On ports I get almost zero drain and 1-1.30 hours per 10% and that is while my phone is even in the pocket most of the day (low standby drain). On the other hand on every stock rom, after the same day, same usage and same apps I have around 45min SOT and down to 70%.
I think Android System is the culprit, but there are still people having amazing battery life on "stock" roms. So how do you stop this Android System drain? It's clearly fixed on the Note 7 and there might be months before we get the updates where the note are now.. But I like stability by far, so would like to go back to stock, if I could stop the drain.
Thanks in advance
