why moving apps to sd card via titanium cause usb probs - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I am so confused as to all of this and I am new to android and this is what happened with me
The story annoyed so much it took me 3 hard reset until I figured out the source of my problem
My story began when i noticed how poorly my note sounds on my car stereo using a 3.5mm cable so I decided to plug into the car stereo via usb as that will enhance the playing music on my stereo via usb cable.
Anyhow I bought the titantium pro from the market and ran the batch that moves all user app to sd and once I do that I noticed that my car stereo does not recgonize the gnote as a storage device and also I noticed the phone truns off once I unplug the usb cable.
So when i used I thought about moving all apps back to internal memory via titanium and my problem was solved.
Can someone shed some light on why this is happening and how to solve it, as I would like to be able to move my apps to sd card via titanium without affecting the phone's connection via usb

3.5 to usb - will it work?

I have a usb connection on my car music system, the idea is to play toons via a memory stick as opposed to cd. it recognises wmv and mp3. so, my question is, if i can get hold of a lead with a 3.5 jack on one end and a usb plug on the other, will i be able to play the music on my HD2 on my car system via the usb socket on the car player?
Mike
is not possible.
USB cable handles digital files (bit), your car recognizes the pendrive as hd2.
the jacks 3.5 is a analogic audio, you should connect it to aux to play the car radio and HD2.
therefore there is no possibility of having a USB / jack 3.5
excuse my English, is a google translation
thanks for your quick reply
its a shame it wont work as it seemed a quick fix.
am i right then in guessing that a lead from 3.5 on the phone to the aux socket would work?
Mike
Well, what I dont understand is:
Why go so far ?
I would guess that the music on the HD2 is stored on your memory card, and not on the device itself.
So - Just connect the HD2 with it's usb cable to the car USB port (where you connect the disk-on key thingie), and select "DiskDrive" mode on the HD2.
It should work just the same.
Enjoy
(And - report back)
Another thing - if your car has a USB port, I would guess it has a 3.5 port (AUX) input.
Try connecting the HD2 3.5 port to the car's 3.5 port (the 3.5 to 3.5 male-male cable is not expensive)
ok, usb does not work. you do get the option of active synch or data when connection but neither allow you to access music.
have ordered a male to male 3.5 jack lead to try that connection cos the car sound system has a 3.5 out and says that it is iphone ready.
fingers crossed and will report back either way.
Mike
well, I tried it with my car.
I copied an mp3 to the storage card (to the root folder of the card) and connected the hd2 to the car's usb port.
When the hd2 asked I selected "Disk Drive" and the car read and played the file.

thats interesting, i didnt think of putting a toon into the root folder. all my music is in albums in the music folder on the card. guess this is why it couldnt see it.
having the music as separate tunes in the root not as albums wont work for me but may for some, which is great.
still waiting for my 3.5 to 3.5 male cable and will report back when it arrives. as the music ctr in the car is ipod enabled my hope is that i will be able to select album and tune via the phone and it will play through the cars system.
either way its another great use of the HD2

I have all my audio in folders, many 2 or 3 folders deep, and the HD2 plays them on my car stereo with no problem.
Technically, when you choose Storage mode for USB, it emulates a USB-ATAPI device. Generally, these USB MP3 players require you to insert a standard USB-ATAPI device that is formated in FAT16 or FAT32. Some USB MP3 players support other file systems as well.
Honestly, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

what connection are you using?
Mike
happy to say the normal usb lead from phone to music system works fine. as has been previously said, simply choose the storage/data option.
stating with a bit of a blush here, i was not patient enough for the system to find the music on the storage card so assumed it was not working.
yay, can listen to me toons now. what a great phone this is.
Mike
For future reference for anyone. Use the FM TRANSMITTER.
Weird, i just connect my phone with the USB cable and chose disc drive and the car stereo finds all my music thats on the phone.
EDIT: Aha, you've got it to work now

USB Mount

Not sure what fixed it, but the CM on G1 allowed me to mount my SD using my car stereo's USB (JVC KW-AVX820). Native G1 and none of the 3 USB modes on the Vibrant work. Any idea what file system feature did that?
Reuven
Same here. My Genesis Coupe keeps showing either 'Media Connection Error' or 'No Media Connected'. It even rebooted my nav/stereo this morning and then froze it on the FM screen with no audio. Had to turn the car off, then back on for it to be fine. Not sure why the Vibrant would have issues like that.
Actually, with my G1, I hadn't got USB Mount notifications for awhile. Other rom's however worked fine. My wife's MyTouch works no problem, so I know it shouldn't be the car.
I don't know anything about car computer usb, but I'll share one experience I had working with a copier at work: USB running in a mode that simulates a USB thumb drive works. USB running in a mode that shows a micro SD card READER (as opposed to a single solid-state unremoveable drive) does not. That discrepancy could be responsible for what you are experiencing.
Make sure after you select mass storage you then mount the usb (its a two step process)
But also, it still might fail as I've noticed when you do this the device is actually mounted as well (oh that glorious 16gb of onboard space!) so the stereo might not have any idea of where it should be looking.
You need to go into settings and enable USB debugging
I think it's under settings application development
that didn't do it
Try disabling USB tethering

W7 PC won't see rooted NC anymore

I rooted my NC from 1.1.0 using autonooter awhile ago and it works pretty well in general. I used to be able to hook it up to my home PC (w7) and my work PC (XP) with no problems. ADB worked (usually), the drives showed up, etc.
Everything still works on the work PC, and another W7 PC I tried it on.
Now, for some reason, neither the NC nor its SD card show up on my home PC when I plug it in! The NC shows the normal "USB Mode" screen when I plug it in, and my PC makes the USB Ding sound. But no new drives show up.
The only thing I can think of that changed is around the time it stopped working, I replaced my old USB Card reader with a new one (old one didn't work with SDHC). I also renamed some drive letters to reorganize them, since the card reader always shows 4 drive letters in windows.
I don't see the USB controller entry for the NC that I used to see in Device Manager either.
Check for NookcolorUMS app
I was having some bizarre connection issues with my PC, too, and they seem to have been corrected (at least they haven't recurred) by using a USB extension cable. It makes no sense, and I didn't do it to attempt a fix, but just noticed that the issues seemed worst when plugging into the top-side 'convenience' USB ports, and had an extra extension cable sitting around, so I plugged that into a rear port to make access less awkward. Since then, the PC consistently mounts everything just like it should.
I'm still using the NC's data cable, just plugging it into a maybe 1' extension cable rather than directly in the slot.
my XP based computer won't see the rooted NC either, however I will have to try using a port on the motherboard as opposed to one of the front mounts and see if that does the trick. I just kinda gave up on it as I didn't really need it too bad (I only use my nook for email, web browsing, and to control my DVR).
Well I unrooted my NC as I had planned anyway to upgrade to 1.2, but the problem hasn't gone away.
I tried plugging into an extension cable I have that goes directly to a MoBo rear port, but no change.
I can't run the nookcolorUMS now that I'm unrooted. Maybe I'll try it when I re-root eventually.
The thing is, it works on every other computer, so I can't figure out why it would stop working on just this one. It seems like it must be a windows issue, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.
I don't bother with usb
USB connectivity is so unreliable that I don't even bother with it.
To move files around I use File Expert/network to access the PC via wireless from the device.
It's easy, reliable, and FAST.

That's a good tip. Unfortunately you have to use USB for certain functions, like manual nooting, or synching with Calibre (I suspect).
Once I'm rooted again I'll probably start using wireless for small stuff, but if I'm moving a gigabyte movie over, I'm not sure how long that will take, or how much battery it will use.
Does anything come up in device manager when you connect it? If so, did you try deleting anything that does come up, disconnect and start over? Worth a shot....
You don't have to guess--if you see a USB device that might be the NC, open properties>details and from the dropdown choose "hardware ids." If the number 2080 is in the id, it's the NC.
Nothing new comes up in device manager when I plug it in. It used to...
I experienced a similar issue and this was what causing it.
1. I have 2 front USB connections (nothing connected to either)
2. External Power USB hub connected to a rear USB slot
On Win 7, whenever I plug-in the NC via USB, I got a device not recognize error. I tried plugging it into different ports and pretty much either got no detection or device not recognize. Here is the kicker, as soon as I plug it into the usb hub, window recognize and mount it right away. This also happen to be true if I remove the usb hub altogether.

USB Mass Storage for Car Stereo

Just picked up the G2 a couple days ago. I've owned an Android before but never got into the rooting and rom flashing process. My problem is mostly that I used my iPhone in my car (a Kenwood head unit) for the stereo. I was able to control the music and sounds via the phone. However, the G2 doesn't work this way. Most I can get so far is the ability to select and play songs via the headunit, which with 1000+ songs is extremely inconvenient. I owned a Samsung Infuse years ago and that was able to work, but it was done by selecting USB Mass Storage I believe. I've done some research but I can't seem to find a straight answer on how to go about enabling that. Is there any way around this? It be awesome to be able to use my phone in the car.
What's the model of your car stereo? Maybe you can connect it with an AUX cable or Bluetooth, if your stereo supports it.

It's a Kenwood MP345-U. It does have an aux cable, however there is sound quality loss with that. Bluetooth I'm honestly not sure whether or not it has, I've read somewhere I can purchase a Bluetooth USB that the phone can connect to. My main concern was I was able to charge my phone before along with it pausing the music during a phone call, etc.

Since the phone can function only in media player mode (MTP), I don't think you can play it any other way than through the AUX cable. CWM recovery has the option of mounting internal storage as USB storage, but that's a highly, highly impractical solution.
You CAN do this but it is specific to CM ROMs. Probably 10.3. I don't know if its working on CM11 KitKat yet.
Its called USB Audio or something.
I'd also check out a Bluetooth solution if it would work. Then you could just plug in audio and use an NFC sticker to turn on BT and launch a music player. If you have a Verizon, you can also do wireless charging, so you can just drop your phone down on a mat and have everything just start working automatically.

There is only quality loss with anything OTHER than AUX. The AUX and only the AUX on this phone is capable of delivering 24bit audio. The downside is, well, 2 cords.
Problem Using Bluetooth
The problem with using Bluetooth is that you can't use voice commands to pick tracks to play.

I did that. I enabled MTP fix rebooted and plugged in,what I did notice is that it seems to mount for a second or 2 sometimes and then it unmounts right away. I tried it on 2 work computers also and under my computer, the LG pops up as a drive for a quick second and then it un mounts. What the heck is going on.,I have screen shots of what is happening. It always pops up on the top of the screen with SD Card Unmounted when I tap the widget to mount. Something is causing it to Unmount it appears, any ideas?Since I Rooted the phone, when i hookup the usb cable it says that i am connected as installer, could that have anything to do with it?

Android M Adoptable Storage Question

Hey everybody, surprise surprise...I found an issue with the new adoptable storage feature in Android M on our beloved nexus player. I used an OTG cable to connect a 16GB Sandisk flash drive and the player recognized it and I was able to format it as internal storage.
I then installed The Walking Dead game to test out performance. I was actually surprised to find the performance to be more than acceptable so I downloaded all the episodes of the game. While the last episode was downloading my nexus player said it lost connection to my wifi. I checked and my wifi was running fine on every other device in my house so I figured I'd restart the nexus player to see if that cleared up the issue. It rebooted and I was connected again, however this is where I found the problem...
The game had disappeared as if it had never been installed. It wasn't on the homescreen or in the settings under Apps. It had completely vanished. Even under the Storage settings, the flash drive showed 14GB instead of the 12.9GB it was showing after I had installed the game originally.
I reinstalled the game and then restarted the nexus player to test. It happened again.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, is there a reason that things just disappear after a restart? Is it a user error?
Please help if you can as I was excited about the possibility of actually having an adequate amount of storage on this device. 8GB is a joke...
It seems your USB is it write protect mode. You may need to have it forget the storage, reformat it on a computer, and then reinsert it into the nexus player. Ive encountered that issue on other operating system, especially if I formatted a drive so it seems android isn't an exception
I'm having all sorta of issues with external and internal storage. I have a USB otg cable with multiple ports I have 32gb flash drive setup as internal storage and a 1tb harddrive as external storage. When I plugged the flash drive in it connected fine, and set it up, then connected the harddrive and it instantly said the flash drive is not connected. So for some reason it kicked the flash drive off. I got the both to work by disconnecting the flash drive then reconnecting it. If I restart my nexus player, the it will boot up and the hard drive won't remount to it. But if I disconnect the power cable then it reboots and the hard drive stays mounted. But settings always says its not responding and asks me to exit it or wait.. Soo buggy. Pretty ****in redicolous its been around this long and its been buggy from the start.

For me everything is working, except for one issue - that might be happening to everybody: Once I reboot the Nexus Player, the USB storage doesn't automatically get re-mounted. I need to physically remove the USB stick and/or OTG cable and connect it again (while the Nexus Player is turned on). Since I usually don't reboot or shut off my Nexus Player, this is acceptable, but it's still not great. If this is designed properly, it should automatically remount it on every boot, as long as its connected.

I'm using a 64 GB drive (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LLEODCK) with this OTG cable (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J631SU8) and don't see any issues. The problem that I am facing is, Nexus player doesn't recognize the drive if I connect it via a USB hub.
