Verizon modem - Galaxy Tab General

I live in a area where sprint is not so good but Verizon is blazing fast.anyway I can use Verizon towers or maybe get there modem so I can be fast also.worth a shot to ask
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA App

If you're on the Sprint network, you can only use the Sprint towers. Modem changes won't change that. Modems will control how your device interacts with whatever network it connects to. You can try different Sprint modems to see if that helps, but unless you change carrier, you're stuck with Sprint.

Thanx for the reply any suggestions on where I could find different sprint modems

I don't know how. I use another carrier, but in mobile network i can't find see place to set 3g????
What carrier are you on? It's difficult, but not impossible, to flash a verizon phone to certain carriers. You cannot simply take a stock verizon phone and change a setting to switch it to another carrier though.

If I remember right it is M.IP in QPST.

I used Sfone in VietNam, it's very good, but not use 3g. can you introduce detail for me! thanks
I got working it for my cdma carrier (iusacell) with qpst (2.7.323), do you have voice services and not data? this was my case
you will need your MIN, MEID, MDN some other information from your carrier and create a profile with qpst

Hello,
Marquicus is there a way you could share those values? I am also want to enable 3g on the Fascinate using IUSACELL. Right now is working only voice, or can you point me in the right direction where you found the answer?
Thank you

It's all you. You will have to download an evdo prl to flash on the phone. Then you will have to set mi p and ppp um/am configurations in qpst. I am not sure what your carriers settings are but you'll have to find them on your own. It's not easy and requires alot of research and patience.

How about Verizon Fascinate to US Cellular? Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

You would have to first start with flashing a prl, then getting US Cellular to accept the esn. Once that's done, you will have to request from someone that has a US Cellular phone to pull the values of MIP and PPP as well as users. Then it's a matter of replacing your number with there's and plugging the values back into qpst and writing to the phone. Essentially, you will be using a "Flashed" phone on their network.

Carrier IQ question

If you flashed an epic to a different carrier who would be receiving what info about said phone through carrier iq.....
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I Believe the company that originally sold you the phone
ex. for the epic sprint would get the info because they had CIQ installed on it.

most likely, no one.. although, if CIQ simply connects through any data connection and reports back to sprint (via one of their IP addresses) then Sprint would get the report... although, again, if CIQ is disabled, and you're not on Sprint's network, then Sprint can't enable CIQ... see the connection ?
and this is just speculation.. I don't know that much about CIQ, but common sense dictates my post here
I figured that much but sometimes ciq can be a tricky beast lol
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
CIQ doesnt send any info or log any atm, but if it was enabled it would goto sprint. thats who pays carrieriq for the service, and ip traffic is ip traffic regardless of the network. now how they enable it? not sure, if its ip based, they could still. if its cdma based they couldnt.

Virgin Mobile now has 4G

Virgin Mobile has now rolled out a 4G phone. For us Epic 4G users running on Virgin Mobile, I was wondering if it was possible to call up Virgin, find a nice support technician, and squeeze some info out of them. Perhaps get them to add our mac addresses to the system and clear us for 4G use.
Since the price points aren't changing, I don't see what the problem would be. All they have to do is add our mac address to the system and we should be able to pick up the networks.
I'm not expert at this, and I may be missing something. However, that's what I at least think should fix the problem.
I may give this a spin sometime, just have to get an understanding technician.
What are your theories? Any ideas? Something you have been working on?
I doubt they use WiMax

Boost does. It may be how Sprint is trying to make up for it's losses on Wimax since they switched to LTE.
Sent from my SPH-D700 CM9 ANDROID 4.0.4
Is it LTE or Wimax?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
It's sprints Wimax... They invested too much in Wimax to just toss it out the window so they opened it up to us boost Virgin users to get some extra life out of it since sprint will be rolling out it's LTE soon.
And don't trust sprint or boost or Virgins site for Wimax coverage... They have switched on a bunch of Wimax towers that don't show up unless you look on clear.com
Like here in Lincoln Nebraska!
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, they are using Wimax..
If you go to epic's virgin Mobile tut, Brooksysx talks about the whole she-bang in length, it's possible to use, but tedious to the average noob nonetheless.

It can be unlocked to work on Tmobile in some markets depending on what frequencies are available where you live. I am currently using my SPH-L720 on tmobile in PHX AZ . Some users have reported Net10 working and others ATT but I have never investigated this. If you want to see how it works I have compiled a guide that outlines the steps I took to make it work on Tmobile. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530610 Also look in the International SIM unlock thread in Development and the GSM data thread in general for further tips.
Also I'm sure it can be flashed to boost you just need the PRL file to flash. Check out this thread.

I asked the store rep if Sprint is working on a fix, but we all know the Sprint reps are usually useless answering these questions (by this I mean at the store they are only trying to make a sell). Her answer was that Sprint is working on a fix that will fix all phones with an OTA. My next question was is this a hardware or software problem which she responded that it is a tower problem. I looked online for an answer but all I could find is that Sprint responded with a weird kinda lame answer that didn't really say if they are working on a fix or not. On Sprint's Forum a rep says they are, but they say a lot of things on the forum that aren't correct also. This seems to be a very frustrating situation actually.
Does it matter to you?
It does to me, but at the same time it isn't a function I use all the time. My only reason that it has helped me, is that it has greatly helped me with work a few or more times.
I am kinda forced to buy a new phone for framily / billing reasons... huge bill without it. I am sorta thinking that I will upgrade the phone but at the same time keep my S4 handy in case I hate the S5. I went to the store today and I have to say it actually surprised me with it's new version of Touchwiz- even though I usually hate Touchwiz.
The only real reason I can see me upgrading is the camera and battery algorithms for power saving.
I call crap!
I've had none of these issues personally, and you can just turn off Spark.
I spoke with sprint today and they said it would be fixed when spark opens up nation wide.

Spark is crap!!!
The reason you can only use one at a time is the triband antenna in the phone it can only use one signal at a time. It may be fixed once sprint starts using voice over LTE. Plus spark is just a unborn baby right now, not even full deployed. The sprint map says spark coverage is in certain areas on the sprint coverage map on the website. This is not true, the sprak network is 2.5Ghz radio head on the the already existing towers(have not be built or not on-air yet). According to sprint Alcatel-Lucent and Samsung towers are the only companies that are contracted to work on spark networks. Ericsson is looking like they will not be apart of the upgrade. This means there will be 1/3 of the sprint market that will not have spark. Sprint has the the companies split by markets and only two of them have contracts to build in their area.
Here is an article that will cover a good about of that info.

NSN will be the contractor for the Areas served by Ericsson for NV 1.0. The reason you can not get SVLTE is because they do not have multiple pathways for 1x and LTE. Here it talks about it. The S5 was not the first phone to have this happen, All tri-Band Phones will most likely be without SVLTE from now on.
S4gru has a few pages explaining it better.

Yes, I forgot to mention it is not only the S5, but all Triband phones. I mostly wanted to put this out here in the open for feedback and other peoples knowledge when contemplating the S5 as an update. I would have been absolutely pissed if I found out after the fact.
It's being discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712240

Now that Sprint has wifi calling it seems like it would be easy to use the same service over LTE. Then 1X voice wouldn't be needed and you could use data+voice simultaneously.

Having sprint spark doesn't mean your going to have best speeds unless your connected to band 41 or band 26 which is the newest bands. With those speeds you have there i wouldn't be surprise if your connected to band 25 which is the 1900mhz which yea its loaded with majority of sprint customers which is going to give you real slow speeds.
Here some speed test on band 41 i took yesterday morning when i was heading to go play some basketball.
