Hello. I've recently been searching around and haven't been able to find too much information on my problem. I recently flashed my HTC Hero to CricKet (yes... I'm sure my phone is yelling "kill me!" lol). I brought it to a shop and they were able to get me setup on a NON-Android plan. They flashed a DamageControl ROM, which is OS 2.1, and I was getting data with it and of course I wanted a newer ROM so I started exploring. I flashed CM 7.1 and now data isn't working... The "About Phone" says "[email protected]" and my research tells me it should say "[email protected]". Could this be the problem and how would I go about changing it?
BTW: I did make a NAND of the DamageControl working data ROM and if I restore it data DOES work. But if a factory reset/wipe got rid of it, then it can't be too hard to get on another ROM right? Doesn't this mean it's just a user setting?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
if you still need it I posted on cricketusers_com a copy of how mine was setup

Hi, using a custom ion rom on my vodafone magic (unlocked).
Recently ported my number to t-mobile uk and today put the sim in.
All my apps broke and lost settings.
I did a wipe hard reset and I am still missing the gmail app (shows a box and says app is not installed).
Anyone else experience this?
Factory wipe.
If you've done this procedure already.
Might I suggest possibly ROOTING your phone for the sake of being able to install a custom ROM...not to mention being able to have that GMail application pushed to your phone from that packaged update.
Just a suggestion.
As for the SIM card switch being the potential cause of that issue. That is highly unlikely that it would REMOVE or corrupt the application. However, your SIM card is linked to the service, the service links the data, and the data is used by Google to forward their servers to a mobile device. It could be a number of things really.
I would try and wipe, reboot, and then go from there.
Hi, the phone was already rooted.
Anyway, I decided I needed something working so flashed a Hero ported rom, and lo and behold it is pretty slow.
Guess I'll be looking for some ion/magic roms.
[REWORDED]
My Phone:
...Make: Dream
...SIM Card: Unlocked
...ROM: CyanogenMod Latest (as of Jan 04, 2010)
...Other Applications Installed: PhoneFusion
...Service Provider: T-Mobile
When Issue Started: 1 week prior
User's Phone:
...Make: Samsung (unknown model)
...SIM Card: Locked
...Service Provider: AT&T
-----
Issue: User cannot call me. It rings once and then disconnects. User can call any other T-Mobile phone in my area. I have no other issues calling or receiving
-----
Troubleshooting steps that have been performed:
...Turn off both phones for 2 hours - fail
...Take out SIM card and put back in - fail
...Kill any call forwarding on phones - fail
...User goes to AT&T store and receives new SIM card and phone - fail
...Checked for possible billing issues or blocked (banned) numbers - fail
...Wiped back to factory defaults (with the original ROM included that had the telnet vuln) and followed the steps to upgrade back to the latest version of CyanogenMod rom - fail
* Fail means it did not successfully resolve the issue of me not being able to receive the user's call
Anymore troubleshooting suggestions?
Maybe the att user cant call tmobile users or their phone is messed up?

Topic is fine and is defiantly not filled with any misconceptions:
dilemma - is a problem offering at least two solutions or possibilities, of which none are practically acceptable.
I would try another rom. As recently as yesterday my friend had a problem with his hero (CDMA) where he was unable to sent a text message to his girl friend. I fixed it by rooting and installing a custom rom.
First, I would unroot and get the tmo OTA update and see if it works (you could also try the custom stock rom with root here if you don't want to.
Second, try a different rom and make sure you don't install any applications.
Third, what SPL do you have, and radio for that matter.
Upgrade to the 26I radio in my sig to make sure it isn't something that easy. Remember, if you flash the nbh file it will downgrade your radio as well.
If all else fails, I would try the 1.33.2005 SPL, be sure you meet the requirements both board type and radio before flashing.
Hey Evilkorn,
Thanks for responding. Ace had posted that comment before I reworded the post. I will admit it was kind of confusion.
I am actually not sure of what I have other than CyanogenMod 4.2.12. Is there someplace I can go to find which version I have. If it would be easier to start from the beginning, as far as rooting and then updating everything from the factory defaults, I wouldn't mind. Time to me is not as important as getting the issue resolved.
I just saw on the homepage of Cyanogenmod.com that they released 4.2.13. Wonder if that would fix my issue. CM Updater isn't finding the ROM update yet so perhaps I should manually download and flash.
only thing I could suggest tell your friend to block the call (*67) and make sure that the caller isnt blacklisted, open the contact and select edit, make sure they arent checked to send call to voicemail
I went through the same thing a month ago, after it was all said and done...By mistake, I blacklisted the friend(which it turns out, can be easy to do if you have "fat fingers" when answering a call lol)
AT&T had thought the same thing. Actually, I just upgraded to 4.2.13 and it fixed my issue. There is a good chance that if I wiped ALT+W and then re-applied the previous .12 CyanogenMOD ROM that that could fixed my issue.
I never really though it was the ROM since I could get a hold of everyone else. How odd.
Thanks for all your help!
So, I got this 6800 from a friend of mine along with a 6700 ( with a very bad battery ), figuring that I am going to develop software for 6.0 I went with the 6800 for the Rom Upgrade. I had the original Qwest Rom on here
Software Version 2.13.656.2
Firmware Version 1.39.00
I went ahead and followed the Ryan Mogul Cricket flash info ( yes i plan to flash this to cricket also ) however sadly before I installed his cricket ROM, i went ahead and followed the instructions for the NUERom2_5049 and after the flash ( done via laptop/activesync connection ), the phone seemed to be bricked. I tried every trick in the book from using the 1G MicroSD card that I have with the ROm on it ( considering the 4G wouldnt work at all ), and couldnt get anywhere.
I also tried flashing Sprint/Alltel/VZW Roms without success, I finally came across the Stock Rom ( Upgrade ) frm Qwest, ran it from Laptop, worked like a charm.
OK now for the questions... Here is some quick info about the new rom. It is Software Version 3.35.656.2, and the Firmware Version is 3.37.20 . At this point I am considering a couple of options.
1. leave the working rom on here and just play with the registry, settings, software, etc.. to get my goal accomplished.
2. Flash this thing over to Ryans Cricket Rom for Mogul ( Hey Ryan if you read this... Is that compatible with the Qwest Mogul?) and go ahead and start the service.
3. Custom Rom, and find a way to get the Cricket info in there.
Also I am using PRL1039 from CK right now, working like a charm so far, I am also wondering if this unit will work on cricket as is if I change some settings.
Just a few things im trying to figure out right now. Along with the ability to get the device to become a Portable Hotspot/ Wireless Adapter ( I now finally have this working as an internet connection....Laptop to PPC via USB Cable, PPC to Netgear Router via WiFi, and im online! Thanks a bunch for anyone with any suggestions, I look forward to seeing what I can do with this device. Also I have the SPL 1040, should I chance it for Cricket?
Thanks in advance!
First thing you want to do is re-do your PST settings to Cricket as the stock ROM changed all of that. Including unlocking your MSL/SPC code to all zeroes and loading a Cricket PRL on there. Follow my Cricket PST settings thread for that. Then you want to remove your memory card and boot up your current ROM into windows mobile and connect to active sync. Make sure its connected you should be able to access the files on the device through your computer and sync icon in taskbar will be green.
Now flash the unlocked bootloader Olipro2.40 exe. You can find that in my htc unlock tools directory on my share site, link provided in my PST settings thread.
After that is all said and done you can flash any Custom ROM including mine. If you use my Cricket ROMs all you have to do is activate the data connection and enter your [email protected], password cricket, blank domain, check save password. Done.
If you use someone elses NON cricket ROM you can always use my Cricket WAP or WAP and Arcsoft CABs to set up the Cricket information for you. Hope this helps.
already redid the spl stuff, still cant seem to get the msl back to 000000 but i do have the correct one. Just got the unit working as a wireless adapter so thats a plus, i need to get this thing over to cricket next, so I can get my account set back up. right now using Skype for phone service sicne I have WiFi. I will try your rom again, Ryan , as soon as I get things going with this again. Thanks for the tips, they seem to be coming in very handy ( been googling your posts for help with this device ) I know the 6700 inside and out but the 6800 seems to be a new dog right now, been playign with it for a while, got alot figured out, but still more to learn. Thanks again
ok just to update a bit, ive made a few slight changes, got a few new accessories, and tweaked out a few settings, however, all this and i still havent gotten the MSL back to 000000. Any ideas at all, tutorials, walkthroughs, hits, tips, tricks, or otherwise step-by-step directions so i can get that back to 000000 insead of the 6 digit code it is now, then maybe *2/228 will work and i can actually use the data features. Thanks in advance.
-I recently installed Cyanogen's new rom 5.0.8 Stable.
-After doing so I was unable to get any kind of network connection other than Wifi.
-I tried doing a nandroid but the file was accidently erase. I tried to flash the SPL and Radio again to see if there was a glitch. I tried reverting to 5.0.7 and still no data. I thought maybe if I went back to the begining I would be ok and could just update my way back up. I loaded the Sappimg.nbh from cyanogens wiki to my SD card and ran it through the volume+down method.
-After installing this I still have no wireless connection but I also have no 3g no recovery and I can't get passed the google log in screen. Also my SPL was revert so I can't do fast boot. Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
-I have tested my sim card in another phone and it works fine.
-Please help if you can I can't figure what to do with it and I think I am only making it worse if I haven't Completely broke it.
-Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think this is an easy fix mate. Just go into mobile network settings and check the radio button next to your network provider. This will issue the relevant APN settings for your network.
Hope this fixes your issue.
I found out it was a bad SIM card cause by something in Cyanogen 5.0.8 ds stable. There has been a small number of people with this same issue that have been posting on the Cyanogen forums about it, I got a new sim card but a little weary to install the rom again... Then again most people who replaced thier SIM are up and good so...
Thank you for your help though man
Hello,
I'll start from the beginning so maybe someone can figure out exactly whats going on with my Galaxy S4.
So my carrier is Telus and I had just a rooted 4.2.2 and everything has been fine since day 1 of rooting. 2 nights ago I noticed the stock Google Edition ROM was out and I decided to give that a try. I flash the 4.3 Google Edition ROM which said Canada (Bell/Telus/Rogers) and I was using that for about 24 hours. Everything was great, however I noticed I lost my 4G/LTE connection. So without being connected to WiFi I had no data plan basically, everything was on, carrier was selected all the APN settings were correct so I was lost. Completely confused as to why this is happening I just decided to restore to stock, unroot and start from scratch. I used Oden to restore the stock ROM from Telus back to android 4.2.2
Now, once that came back, still the same problem and what I noticed was it installed all the Bell Mobility stock software and when I plug the phone into Kies it's listed as a Bell Mobility device. How is this possible? I used the Telus stock ROM to restore, once that I've used before without any issues at all.
Any help would be appreciated, if you have any questions let me know.
Thanks.

I'm wondering if the 4.3 rom managed to update your EFS or CSC data... I'm no expert in these areas (and I'm on AT&T), so I don't think I can be much of a help. But this might be something to look into. Also be sure you wiped data too (you didn't mention it).
Also, I'm wondering if you have the correct Odin file for your carrier (if there is such a thing as a difference?)? I know with older handsets, it was possible for AT&T to push out APN settings, etc. from the carrier's end, forcing updates to your handset. Not sure if that's still possible or not.
If you have a nandroid backup of your ESN partition, you might try to restore that. Don't try to restore someone else's backup, or you'll mess up your IMEI and such.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention some stuff. I have wiped data and factory restored before flashing the stock ROM in Odin as well as wiped everything again as soon as its complete. Right when it boots up the APN info is all wrong. I have data now if I set it up myself but its just sitting on H+ rather than LTE/4G. Also it seems to install the Bell bloatware rather than the Telus bloatware, so something within the phone still thinks its a Bell phone. I'm stumped, so is the Telus guy who was trying to help me with it today. I know I'm using the right .tar stock file from Telus because I've used it before. Man this really stinks!
EDIT: I'm not sure if this is valuable info to add but I just noticed when doing a factory reset it says the CSC that's applied and its labelled as BMC which is Bell Mobility. This is a Telus phone so I'm assuming my problem is somewhere right from there.
ALRIGHT!
I fixed it... I found a tutorial on how to change the CSC with the key command
"*#272*Device IMEI#"
Then it showed a list of carriers and I chose the right one, rebooted and it restored everything and presto. 4G/LTE is back on.
