Hello!
My thing is I love sense, but I prefer the AOSP battery life and that its so customizable.
But here are the stuff that sense has that keeps me trapped!
1. The contacts and calendars that link to Facebook, I can see the birthdays on calendar and on contacts I get to see their profile picture they have on Facebook.
2. The HTC_ime keyboard, its hard for me to find a good keyboard on AOSP because I can't add Spanish (mexico) language, and there are some I can add it but they don't have dictionaries (no autocorrect and spelling check, etc)
If someone can help me with this, is be grateful with him for life, and ill be always on AOSP :3
Thanks!

Your issues are easily solved with a few third party apps.
You can use FriendCaster to sync your contacts, etc. You can also use the official Facebook app, but FriendCaster also gives you a direct link to their profile inside contacts and it's better than the official app.
There are plenty of alternative keyboards available, as well as the HTC IME for AOSP. I use both Swype and SwiftKey X, and both have options for other languages and are better than the stock keyboard. If you search the Market I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. I have a modified version of the HTC IME somewhere. I'm not sure if it supports different languages like the stock one, but if I can find it I'll post it for you to try out.
Good luck!
Also, for birthdays in calendar, there are apps that will do this if FriendCaster doesn't. I synced mine a while ago before FriendCaster added syncing so I'm not sure if it will. Once your contacts' birthdays are synced to your calendar you can uninstall the app that synced them.

Does anyone know if there is a decent Facebook app out there? So far I've tried the default one that came with the EVO, Bloo and Facebook Touch and they just don't do it for me. Is there a Facebook app that is as good as say, TweetCaster or Touiteur with a decent widget?
Cheers...
Not one that I've seen, unfortunately.
You're better off sticking to the browser. Facebook on Android blows.

I know. If there was just one that was as good as TweetCaster... that would be tiiite.
I am fairly disappointed by how many options there are for Facebook, and how poor they really are. I find myself using the full website more often than not.
I still open the official FB application first, just to get a quick look, and if I'm still bored, I'll open up the site. The friendstream stuff, and the feed updates on contacts are pretty worthless, IMO. By default, there are like 3 different services pulling FB feeds, and there should only be one. I liked the way my Palm Pre worked, where everything was integrated into the OS--even FB chat.
Just use the browser. Another option is "FULL SITE", which gives you the desktop version of facebook.
Too bad they can't get the developer who created the facebook for iPhone app.
i read back near the 1.0 release notes that gapps was added. so i just flashed my first flash of royalginger 1.6 [mild applause!!] and found that i didnt have gmail anywhere. i downloaded it from the market and it works. my questions are:
1) if gapps was included (since RG 1.0 ?) why did i have to dl gmail?
2) why does gmail not respond to pinches to zoom in and out? it just pans, no zoom.
thanks
PS: super duper rom. thanks to teamroyal. posting this here instead of RG thread since i dont have enough posts yet...
The Gapps package nowadays only includes apps that can't be downloaded from the market. This is mainly the Google signin backend, the "News and Weather" app, and the Market itself.
Anything that can be downloaded from the market is intentionally left out - Gmail, Maps, etc. Otherwise, when a new update came out, you'd end with two copies, one in your /system and one in /data, which would take up space unnecessarily. Also, some people don't use Gmail, etc. so these apps would be bloat for them.
anyone know why i cant use multitouch on royalginger 1.6 to zoom in and out of gmail? (browser app and other work fine in zooming)
Apps have to support multitouch. Google never got around to adding this to the Gmail app.
well that makes sense, and i never thought that google would have left that out... i could have sworn my stock mytouch from t-mobile had pinch on gmail... would t-mobile have "sensified" the app to add pinching? i have to check my wife's stock, but i'll take your word for it. thanks.

Seesmic is the best! And it integrates Twitter too!
I use Friend Me as well, but I installed FB 1.6 without issue.
Download the APK from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142676
Email to your Gmail account. Open your Gmail app on your tab and you'll be presented with the option to install it from the App. No root necessary.
damn i was using friend caster and didnt really like the UI but i took bbeelzebub's advice and tried friend me and i prefer it much better than friend caster. thanks!
I was also using friendme and noticed that if you have friends that block 3rd party apps, you will not get thier status updates in your feed. This is not the case with the official FB (1.6) app
Does anyone know where I can get the notes widget for sense my 4.0 rom. It comes with notes preinstalled but lacks the widget. I really really want it and I have looked everywhere and I can't find it. I have tried taking the apk from other roms but it says application not installed when I try to install it.

From what I saw, Sense 4.0A's Notes is a wrapper of Evernote (shown in the Account section as Evernote for HTC Sense,) but apparently incomplete as it lags behind the official Evernote app in terms of features, one of them is the lack of widget (Evernote has a dedicated widget app in Google Play, but it works with the official app only.) Different ROMs' apks probably based on different versions of Notes, thus they will not work in your ROM.
either stocks weight ,i think your ROM is sense4a port one V.if you really want notes weight, you can flash sense 3.6

hi guys!
i'm just curious: which browser and mail app do you prefer?? excluding chrome and gmail app for ics/jb (i'm on gb)
i'm using gmail app but it's so ugly if compared to ics/jb version..
and dolphin mini browser! it works really good but i miss the sync feature from chrome or jb stock browser..
any suggestion??
thanks!!
I'm running CM7 with GMail & Boat Browser
GMail is quick enough for me but lacks some features like sending out an email to a group which I have made up in gmail but doesn't transfer into contacts for the phone. Anyone with some email app suggestions, I'll be more than willing to listen.
Boat Browser is perfect for me. minimalist browsing but with enough features when I (uncommonly) need them.
The screen is fullscreen for me: no URL bar or any overlay except for a thin blue loading bar atop the screen.
When you press menu you get all the extras right in front of you: URL, search, Tabs!!! for each window, bookmarks etc.
Much of my minimalist browsing is my own preference settings, ie show title bar(URL etc) when scrolling: Off. Always show Title Bar: Off...
Not sure if it has any feature to sync with google and Chrome.
Just grab it and mess with the settings and see if it fits!
Thanks!
I like the tab style in boat browser but I prefers the theme in boat browser mini.. I have to decide!
I originally installed both. If I recall correctly, it was the extra functions of the full version that made me drop the mini.
i'm trying maxthon mobile browser and till now it's the best! give it a try
thanks guys

thanks but i think opera is too ugly
has k9-mail push mail? because when i tried last years it hadn't..
Using both K9 Mail and Mail Droid. Both cope well with multiple accounts. Mail droid has good rules and notification settings.
Dolphin Browser and trying the latest Dolphin Beta.
I'll be honest, haven't used any other email apps except for the Android Mail and GMail. Both were crap for CM7.
Unfortunately I've been trying out CM10 and there are so many improvements to gmail... still a little too feature cluttered (visually) but at least it has features I needed. Unfortunately CM10 also took away some of my favorite functions that were standard on CM7! I''ll have to make up my mind...
FYI, Boat browser also allows for tons of settings. I just found out I can edit that quick menu bar! Also has volume rocker as an optional "switch between tabs."
