Possible Voice Talk Security Issue - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I'm not sure if it's just the particular ROM I'm running or if this is a general issue but with Samsung's voice talk enabled (with the default double tap home to bring it up) or even before it's setup, if i double tap my home button while the screen is locked it bypasses my Android lock pattern and goes straight into the Voice talk app, which if you close leaves you right on your home screen, could someone on a stock ROM check this?
disabling the double tap home setting of course fixes it

When lock and I hit the home button it wakes. When I hit it twice I get voice app.

Im not having any issues with it.

Turned out my unlock screen was unlocking no matter what pattern you inputted into it, I had never restored anything but apps with Titanium backup before, Restoring my system settings with it apparently had this effect.

Try to setup the lock pattern again.
When I was using i9000 I had the same problem, seems it is because the lock pattern was restored from titanium backup. Just try to go to setup the lock pattern manually should help.

Deactivating Lock Screen Swipe

Hi There,
I needed to set up a VPN on my Tab a while back that worked fine. Before I was able to set it up my Tab made me activate a lock screen swipe. I now no longer need the VPN and have deleted it but I can deactivate the swipe. Can anybody out there help. My settings menu doesen't seem to have a disable button.

Not sure what ROM you are running but if you go to setting, under interface or system (depending which ROM) there is a screen security setting, from there change to which ever lock screen you wish.
Not sure why the disable lock screen option isn't available to you, but you can use an app that disables it. I think these apps might require root, but I can't remember. Search the play store for an app called No Lock

Go to screen>lock screen, tap on screen lock, confirm your saved pattern. This brings up a page that gives you the various lock options.Hope this helps!

[Q] Swipe and pin lock?

Is it possible to have both a swipe lock and a pin lock? I want to have a pin lock if the phone hasn't been used or unlocked for 30 minutes and a swipe lock to avoid accidentally unlocking the phone. The pin lock is a requirement for accessing a corporate Exchange account.
It worked on my old Nexus One with CyanogenMod 7.2. But I haven't figured it out on my Nexus 4 with CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly
I'm sure this would be possible using tasker if you have any experience with that app. In fact tasker allows you to pin lock only certain applications which may come in handy for you. You should look it up if you haven't heard of it before.

I was able to set a pin lock with Tasker using Secure settings. But I'm not sure what will happen if I disable the pin lock and switch to Swipe lock a hundred times a day. Perhaps the corporate security admin will wipe my phone :silly:
Could it be solved by using another lock screen than stock?

Installing Widget Locker solved my problem :good:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker
Switch between swipe and pin (or pattern)
Has anyone found a possible solution?
I LOVE swipe lock, dashclock, and quick apps etc. But at work, I would prefer a pin. When I don't want the pin anymore, instead of diabling a lock screen all together, how can I set it to revert back to a swipe lock screen?
***side note unrelated (don't hate me) ****
share a related thread?
I have been searching forever for a way for Tasker to realize im driving and change settings etc because Im going say 20mph (even just for a few seconds) would indicate that I am likely driving.
*********thanks for not hating me***************
Here are some resources for lock screens:

Possibilities:

Thanks!
IDEA: at location 1 --> enable pin at location 2--> disable pin
A toggle as listed above for random situations like a baseball game etc.

Lock screen stuck on swipe to unlock despite fingerprints being set as the lock type

I've had the s6 and the lock screen would actually set the way you wanted. I've set up my fingerprints and set the lock screen type to fingerprints, but it still shows the stupid "swipe screen to unlock" lock screen and ignores the fingerprint setting. I checked the smart lock settings and none of those are active. Any ideas what to try next?
Use your finger. Don't swipe.

Settings > Quick Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure lock settings > Secured lock time > Instantly with the power key or when the screen times out
Basically it is defaulted to not lock the phone until it has been off for 10 minutes, meaning you do not need to use the fingerprint to unlock it if you have recently done so.
Set it as I said and you will be required to use fingerprints every time (or a pin, pattern, or whatever secondary method you chose) and it will unlock directly to your homescreen.

Really? Why did you bother with that?
On the off chance you're being serious and not thread-crapping, the screen will only unlock via swipe. no matter the actual setting, it still acts like swipe is the lock screen setting.

THANK YOU! That is possibly the stupidest, least secure default setting they could have chosen! I like Samsung, but they make it hard sometimes. How stupid. Thanks!
I am having same problem & have my phone set to lock immediately. Frustrating bcuz I want that security feature & it's not working.
update: smart lock and my gear fit watch together, were the culprit
Take off all lock options on your s7... then download gesture lock screen from the play store and set it up. It gets rid of the swipe and you can also customize it a lot more. I just got the s7 and was about to return it, especially after seeing so many threads with this problem, but gesture lock screen works perfect for me. Good luck.
Was having the same issue. Would ask for swipe motion after locking if I attempted to use phone by pressing home screen button. As soon as I disabled Bluetooth it started to prompt for finger print again.
it works...

Thanks S7EdgeGirl, it worked fine after I turned off my bluetooth option...now its asking me for the finger print to UNLOCK..
Crazy..........................
thaks a lot..this helped me out...
Issue for me was the Samsung smart watch was listed as a trusted device in Smart Lock. Turn this off and now it locks immediately as intended.
Hey guys, i have finally got the solution!!!! It is happening because of the smart lock option. Please disable it. What smart lock does is, when u unlock the device it remains unlocked until its with you for emergency kind of thing. If you disable smart lock it will prompt you for entering pattern or any other which you have set. Thank you....

I have the same problem with c9pro
Guys please help. I already set my pattern and fingerprints lock in my c9pro but when i locked and immediately switch on the screen, my phone can unlock using swipe only
I already set Lock screen setting > secure lock setting > lock instantly with power key is ON
But still only need swipe to unlock
What should i do?
Thanks
My s7 stuck on swipe. BT off set for fingerprints initially restated phone went through "new" security measures then after first fingerprint opening reverts to swipe. Changed to no security restarted then 're set up still no good. Figuring it was fingerprints changed to pin set up still works as swipe....frustrating

Major security issue

Can anyone else confirm that while the phone is locked, you can double-click the home button to launch the camera, wait a few seconds, hit the back button, and the homescreen will appear without a fingerprint scan or pattern unlock?
Not on mine, I go back to the lock screen.

If you double tap the home button it tries to read your fingerprint while you are doing it.
If you give it the split second to read it, when you back out of the camera your phone is unlocked.
Try the same thing with a finger you have not registered a fingerprint of and you should always go to the lockscreen.
If that is not the issue, check your secure lock timeout settings.
Settings > Quick Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure lock settings > Secured lock time > check that it is set on "Instantly with the power key or when the screen times out"
For some reason Samsung has it set to default lock only after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Not a Security issue. Look a little deeper here.

I'll thank you when your solution isn't to disable a feature I use all the time.
I think it's more likely what the other poster said about my fingerprint being read.

Most recent update breaks screenoff + fingerprint

Before today's update, I was running Nova with double tap set to the app screen off and lock. This allowed me to double tap the home screen to shut the screen off and lock the phone (I prefer this to clicking the power button). After the update, I can still do this, but it will no longer work with fingerprint unlock. If I try unlocking the screen using fingerprint, it forces the pattern unlock. Does anyone know a way to fix this?
Thanks.

It's a Marshmellow thing and was like that before the update (at least there were many reports of it, I don't use that feature of Nova).

I'm not familiar with that, but it was definitely working for me before the update. It's not really a Nova feature; Nova just supplies the double tap gesture function which can be used for anything. I think it has something to do with lock screen security, but nothing I tried worked. Thanks anyways.

It's a Marshmellow thing, not a Nova thing. It doesn't work on 6p, or 5x, or any other variant of the s7. Or with any other apps that lock the screen. Seems like it may have been a fluke if it worked on yours. It has to do with the apis for smart lock and Google's fingerprint api.

Same thing with me. The update messed mine up as well. I use this app now with Nova double tap and its working good. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iwashisoft.screenoff&hl=en
It doesn't lock the screen it just turns it off but it will lock when the setting you have it set for times out. I have mine at 30 seconds.

Its in the phone settings> Lockscreen and Security> Secure Lock Settings> Lock Automatically> pick one
No it doesn't... FUD

I use a different tap to lock screen and it now makes me use the pattern all the time. If I use the power switch and wait the 30 seconds the fingerprint works. Try that and see if it works not using Nova.
It is third party lock/screen off apps that cause the enter pattern always function.

Thanks for the reply, but it works now. You just have to use a different app that turns the screen off but does not lock it. With the new app, the phone will lock itself after a few seconds and then I can use fingerprint properly when I turn it back on.
Installed the update from last night, after the phone rebooted the recent and back capacitive buttons are not working. I just did the repair software tool with verizon and that didn't fix it. Crazy...
