Scoop On CNET that Sprint Has something up there Sleeves....Any Ideas?
Figured I would ask see if any buzz is going on and or around......Always Curious!!
They're going to add another $10 fee for Network Vision?
Maybe a new phone, I don't think it will be anything major.
Galaxy Nexus?
LTE roll out? you know they only get 2 new phones a year (evo and samsung galaxy of the year) lol

I love the waterproof, ABOUT DAM TIME some one starts making portable electronics/cell phones that can take the most abundant fluid on the planet!
Hope its a phone with 800smr band, g block lte, 1x advanced, ics and of course a keyboard. I can care less if it is quad core or 16 cores. As long as it is as fast or faster than the epic I am fine.

Oops didn't mean to thank but yeah just because it's waterproof doesn't mean it won't sink lol
And Washing Machines. My EVOL One put the bed sheets in the washer when the dog peed on the bed. Even with Insurance cost $200.
Well, considering there's no way Google lets Verizon have any more than 1 month exclusive on their baby, I'd say Galaxy Nexus.
If the Dec 8th/9th rumors are true for the VZW release, January 10th is exactly 1 month away.

Probably announce they've made some sort of deal with Clearwire, then they'll be shifty and vague in answering any questions or giving any details.

Back on topic... I wanna hear more about this Kyocera device because the previous one was the pinnacle of mobile computing according to the marketing efforts when Sprint made "history" lol

Sure...
I spoke to sprint advanced tech support and he hinted that it would be a Sprint iPhone, though he admitted he would not put money down on that.
It will NOT be a Sprint iPhone. if it is I will cancel my service with them immediately for two reasons.
1. An IPhone for Sprint = not an industry first (people aren't seeming to grasp this one, though its not necessarily your prediction just what a rep said)
2. The iPhone 4 is already a device that is on the brink of obsolete. In a world where dual cores and 4g are becoming standard, the people buying iPhone for Verizon are asking to get left behind. If Sprint, who has been doing a great job of staying ahead of the game, decides that taking two steps back and calling it an "industry first" is a wise new game plan, I may as well throw in the towel.
Remember, a vast majority of sales reps, really don't know what they are even talking about.

May have been slight exaggeration... but, innovation and making that tiny effort to stay ahead is the main reason I go with sprint. The fact being that the company has been doing a great job leading the game without being the biggest in sales or subscribers would make all this fuss over an obsolete phone, instead of putting that money to better uses, would definitely make me question if I should go to Verizon or ATT for their soon to be superior phones (atrix, bionic, thunderbolt) if that makes sense.
It would be a huge letdown to me if all this hubbub was over a phone two other carriers have.
I really don't think the announcement is going to be the Iphone. I doubt Sprint will even get Iphone on there service until the Iphone 5 is out with 4G and a dual core. Anyway this thread was meant to be a joke. See, the OP said that Sprint's big announcement will be that the Steelers won the Super Bowl, which would not be making the impossible, possible. I hope the Packers win just because they beat my Eagles and the Eagles actually should have won since they lost by 5 and the Pro Bowl field goal kicker missed 2 FG which would have been 6 points and the win. I guess I could take a little more pride in losing by so little to the eventual SB champs.
I highly doubt Sprint is going to spend the money to get the Iphone on their service. Just Google how much Verizon will spend on Iphone. If Sprint does just expect some serious rate hikes on your next plan.

The thread was a joke... and I got myself a chuckle from it haha. Mostly because steelers=black and yellow, sprint = black and yellow, and.my music player = wiz khalifa "black and yellow" all in one glorious moment of things adding up just right haha.
My posts are simply at my infernal irritation at people desperately clinging to hope that its an iPhone (which I admit to being a very biased, avid iPhone hater), and the relentless "My sales rep said...." comments. Odds are, if anyone in the public REALLY knew? EVERYONE in the public would know. It's called a leak champ. haha.

that would be a first but they can't even get Qik to work right. They need to enhance the service before bringing some phone with a hinge into the mix. EVO's screen is big enough WTF am I gonna really do with 2 and 3D don't ever go there. I need a 3D phone like I need a hole in my head. I can put my foot on a hinge while Sprint wears some 3D glasses and kickem in the face. This is upsetting.

Well just an FYI.. the plan im switching to on Verizon is only $10 a month more than what im paying on Sprint. And I get LTE inside my house so its worth it to me.

EVO 2 and WiMax are on hold right now, with Sprint's ongoing saga with Clearwire. It's at a point where they are thinking of going complete LTE, and just move away from Clearwire/WiMax. Clear could avoid this death wish, by using Sprint's Network Vision and calling it a day. Both companies will make an substantial amount of money, and your 3G speeds will be back to normal.
The only way the EVO 2 debuts at CTIA, is if HTC/Sprint rehash the Inspire 4G/Thunderbolt/Desire Z for Sprint, and call it the EVO 2. It won't be close to the actual original EVO 2 designs(Sabor wasn't either), but to appease the public, that is what may happen. By the way, HTC/Sprint's love child has been in the works a year and a half before Engadget leaked the news. "Supersonic" wasn't even the original codename for the device. News did leaked months before the device dropped, but that info was late too.

Id switch if I could do it cheaply. I am a year in almost of the 2 year with my Epic. If I could upgrade for like a hundred dollars I would in a heartbeat. Not paying 600 or more for this phone though out of pocket.
Hm there might be two variants of the gs2 one with sammys processor and the other with the tegra 2, any chance they hit the drawing board again with the "epic 2" in mind as one of those variants? Considering someone did a device search and came back with "D710" ?
Just a theory, seem valid? Lol

I'm not quite at my 12 month point yet and got an early upgrade 'scheduled' for when i hit that mark..
now the new phone might be "WiThin" reach (pun intended)
WiThin will not have Tegra! It has Mali GPU and Tegra phones have GeForce GPU. I guess that means SPH-D710 is WiThin. Amazing that on Nenamark, the top 8 phones are GSII. BTW here's the link
http://nena.se/nenamark/view?version=2&device_id=593
It's SPH so it's definitely sprint and it's got Mali so its probably the GSII and performs like the other ones do on the test. Also, it got WIFI certified in May if that means anything.

No, I still like my epic. But, I'm bringing my wife over to sprint and I need to find her a phone to make her get rid of her iphone.

Big mistake I think. If she loves her iPhone she will not like switching to an android phone. Goodluck to you sir!
I've heard early August, which would be one year after the Epic release but yeah, I'm on that phone when it's available. Will definitely pre order too
So today i seen a review of the new kyocera rise. Whats very baffling is that the rise has the same specs of the epic and yet it has 4.0? its a shame that samsung has to lie to us.

Samsung never stated our phone cant run 4.0 It needed to run mtd and there would have been too many issues with that official update. Get yo facta str8 gangsta

Besides, forget specs, it was 100% an economical decision. Why allocate dev hours to a 2+ year old phone that isn't selling on store shelves any more?
Nah, this is some McBullshiz. Hehe.

I assume you meant isn't, but sprint. Com is still selling our phone. For the same price as the galaxy nexus with new 2 yr agreement. lol.

Bubble now burst
Samsung only promised owners of the SPH-D700 (Epic 4G) ... wait for it ...
Froyo
Everything beyond Froyo was lagniappe. Threads such as this are pointless.

Haha, you're right =] ...on both accounts
However, does it really and truly matter? We have 4.0, we have 4.1 as well as others. Why? Because of the developers in this community that keep our phone from fading away. Who cares if it's official or not. If it was, don't ya think it would probaly be loaded down with bloatware and nonsense to begin with? Official means more stuff i gotta delete to make room for apps i will use! lol.. Just my thoughts on the thing. I love my OG Epic.

No doubt, I have a buddy that went from his Evo, to an iPhone 4s, to a Nexus, and now back to a 4s (work required him to switch this time).
I told him I was running Jelly and he didn't say anything at first until he remembered I'm still rockin' the Epic 4G, then he flipped. Haha he said "my theory is that you'll have that phone the rest of your life". Maybe he's right =]
Just hoping something fails before December so I can make claim for a new refurb before my insurance expires =]
What is BS about our phone & samsuck. Is the fact the GPS is kinda useless. GPS will not work/get lock outside of CDMA coverage. IMA that makes GPS useless! Drive from New York to LA & tell me that its all 100% CDMA covered:banghead:
Not to mention if you take your epic out of North America and want to use the ****ing GPS on it your **** outta luck
**** SAMSUCK!! I love this phone but I still have NOT BOUGHT one thing samsung after finding out the GPS is just totaly ****ed on our phone & there seems to be no fixing it with software.

No that does NOT WORK! I did a lot of testing with that.
If you Jam the radio bands for CDMA you can not & will not get a GPS lock. Samsung sucks ass! I mean how about if WiFi or bluetooth just refused to work out of CDMA coverage zones!

If you are say out on Lake Michigan or the Ocean or you have the Epic 4G with in a Jamming field of CDMA bands used in the U.S. the GPS is rendered useless. That is proof that the GPS is somehow tied to the cell radio reception and is not an independent true Sat based GPS.
Samsuck ****ed it up totally & never admitted it's falt:banghead: IMA its wrong to say the SPH-D700 Has GPS the Epic 4G's GPS is only going to work in parts of the world that have CDMA so forget trying to use this thing some day as a backup nav unit on a boat, survival bag, in the middle of bum **** NV or AK WI or Off shore, maybe an Oil rig or a fishing boat to log you fishing trip fun in the golf.
