Thanks for the heads up on this app... looks interesting.
ezPDF Reader (https://market.android.com/details?id=udk.android.reader&hl=en) has the ability to annotate PDFs.
I just use it as a fancy PDF reader (love the speedy page flip) but this is probably what you need. They update regularly so it's worth the money imo.
I have ezpdf reader ( was free in amazon app once ) and repligo reader.
ezpdf - has ability to use the pen
repligo - better to read long passages. Cannot directly use the pen to annotate.

+1 RepliGo is very good at least with the fingers. Dont know how versatile it is with the Note stylus though...
yup, ezpdf works great with the pen.

Thanks, ezpdf looks great. But----I am looking for something where I can use the pen to annotate pdfs in handwriting. The HTC flyer has a program that comes with it that allows this (the pen is much less exact with that device though). Any ideas? Also interesting that Polaris Office on the flyer allows handwriting with pen but the on the note does not.
No comparison though on how well the pen works for control and handwriting--hands down better on the note.

Ezpdf does allow handwriting for pdf annotation. I use it for my medical school stuff all the time.
Joker-- great but how???? my stylus just controls and I cannot find a pen button or setting to make it handwriting in document (not recognition, but handwriting in the pdf is what I want)

Old thread, but just managed to do this in a word doc.
1) Open the doc
2) Menu -> Edit Mode
3) Menu -> Insert
4) Choose drawings..
5) Draw on your word doc and save
Yes! for free too
Hi,
Yesterday only I installed 'smartdevice pdf reader' from samsung apps for free.

yeah Adobe Reader is not bad. Like what ayanamirei33 said, it's free, and got a number of features recently including annotations. You can also try ezPDF reader or Docs To Go if you want more functionality. There was the recent 25c app sale that had Office Suite pro on sale, but I don't really like that one..
Aldiko is pretty good too

Are you when using your Note 10.1?
Alot of times i feel i fall behind others while trying to 'setup' my Note for intake(i dont know how people type so fast on an iPad). in class, getting slides or document with s-note side by side, i see people faster with just printouts. This is compounded when the prof. switches between multiple documents/slidedecks.
the same goes for meetings. I often find im trying to format and i miss half of what was actually said.
It may be the fact im not really great at taking notes anyway, but i still feel after a month of use, the experience is uncomfortable and is often subtraction by addition. I never was productive with my iPad either, but i see people typing very quickly with theirs. I just would study powerpoints on it.
My Note 1 same thing. A big post-it pad work much more effectively when walking up to a coworker. Maybe its the looking down/at a screen effect.
Maybe someone can come up with a training course/regime to help people like me to be more productive. i mean, thats what i bought it for.
I use my Note for everything (Love this device). Most importantly, I use it in all of my engineering classes. So, I'd have to say that I'm turbo-productive.
Same here. By the time I could dig a pen and pad out, my Note and stylus are already rockin. I do nearly everything on it and feel resentful if I have to use my laptop for anything.
I think i spend too much time looking at the screen/making sure my words are being converted correctly(im not a great speller).
Any tips?
Do handwritten notes. That's the best way. I as use sugarsync so I can have all my scanned class handouts accessible even when my computer isn't on. It also autosyncs so I don't have to so much. I also have a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard but I have yet to use them. I have only used one piece of paper since school started. The note's advantage over iPad is its pen. If you don't use it why did you buy a Note 10.1? For a typing tablet the Transformer Prime Infinity would have been the tablet to get.

I am constantly reaching for the Undo button when Im not using my Note. I do my physics labs on lecture notes, my calculus notes as well, and my french homework. I find that the only thing missing is a full Microsoft Word (next year?) but Office suite suffices. I also have to convert my Physics teacher's power points using MS as I haven't found an app that can do it without messing up the slides so the only way to do it is before class. All my teachers' presentations are available online so that helps with being prepared.

I second using handwritten notes vs written-to-type or even typed notes, unless you connect a physical keyboard.
My only other issue is how with my writing style s-notes still zooms in from time to time with my palm

Have you tried to zoom on a new note with your fingers while in pen mode but with the pen unlocked? For me this gets rid of the red box and then I lock the pen and no more zoom.

I was the first official US purchase. I have tons of meetings with banks and work and in class two times a week.
A tutorial / training program might help some of us improve our skills.
I did just do my HW by cropping the questions from a PDF scan of textbook and posting into s-Note side by side. I just feel when time is tight I seem to need to pay more attention to what the device is doing. Alot of re - writing words.
Thanks anyway all.

Hello. I'm creating this thread for us, users of the Note 10.1 (doesn't matter if it's the wifi version, 3g, etc), to discuss about how to be more productive and making a better use of our tablets. There isn't any thread like this, I guess, but you can see plenty of threads giving advices, so I decided to create one to concentrate all great information. In the second post I'll edit with relevant stuff and will put the credits. Oh, and questions are also welcome.
Please note: don't reply with "thanks", or "great", hit the thanks button of someone's post. If you have any note, something additional, reply, I want this to have a high density of information. If you think that this thread is useless, don't spam it, report to a moderator and let him do whatever he wants.
Examples: use S-Note on portrait mode; Lecture Notes is better/worse and why; xyz app is great for "something".
-nothing for now-
I use the Galaxy Note 10.1 along with the ezpdf application to read PDF. it gives the A4 size and we can use annotation just like we do in the real book to highlight or mark points. In case of test papers which has answers in the next page. I answer the test on ezpdf and open a small window of polaris to review the same pdf file for answer comparison. Later i remove the annotation to use it later for revision.
Use GDM s-pen control, makes your life easier.
Off-Topic
I really don't understand why people use anything other than Adobe Reader. It opens huge files, saves the place you have left on, has annotations and great design for tablet. But best part is, that it's free!
Adobe Reader doesn't have multi-window support, and it's bad, since there's a lot of people that likes to divide the screen with a PDF file and S-Note/whatever. I also bought ezPDF Reader, it's very fast, quite fancy and provides some cool tools, but was a bit useless for me, since I normally take notes on S-Note.
Oh, and most of the apps I like to turn the tablet to portrait mode, because it offers a better quality to read and write.

i dont use SNote any more, just lecture notes, i like it more.
and with PDF i like adobe reader, more performance, and use the Multi Windows Manager
Project management
I use the Galaxy note 10.1 for business purposes. I purchased the webplan Franklin Planner app for note 10.1 and use it with S-notes to keep current with weekly task, meeting notes, and schedule. I Sync it with my Google account. I am a long time evernote user from owning a HTC Flyer and continue to save my S-notes to evernote. I prefer using the share as text option in the S-note menu to save it to Evernote.
I recently added a samsung slate PC digitizer pen to use with the Note 10.1 due to its erasing ability. I find this is a nice enhancement for productivity.
How are you guys dealing with the lack of spellcheck/autocorrection? I tried the workaround posted awhile ago in the themes/apps section for the note 10.1 but it doesn't work for me in split keyboard mode (not sure exactly what mode that is called but it is where you have the keyboard break in half to type more easily in landscape). The split keyboard is a feature I used quiet often so the mod not working in that mode was kind of a deal breaker in using it for me. I've tried other keyboards like swiftkey but none of them provide that spellchecker red underlining functionality present in stock JB or CM. They simply autocorrect things and that often leads to them being wrong and me not noticing without careful proofreading.
Needless to say, I am having real difficulties being productive with my 10.1 because of this lack of red underlining spell check and being able to tape the underlined word to view a list of possible corrections. How do you work with this issue? Having become accustomed to how CM's and stock JB's spellcheck/red-underlining work on my nexus 4, it's a disappointment typing and trying to be productive on my note 10.1.
*I still like using my note though because of the great spen functionality but having a fix for this problem that one of you could recommend would greatly improve my productivity.
I just got my Note 8 and loving the size and pen. I'm hoping to use this for taking notes at work but is there a writing app that can be shared to a Windows pc?
Looking for a good app to start using this Note. Mostly for work purpose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best writing app: Lots to try
I bought my Note specifically to use the active stylus as a writing tool and wanted to take notes using a OneNote or Evernote type approach. So I have a wide array of opinion on the matter.
I assume your main goal is handwriting, as if you were writing with a pen on a piece of paper. Another thing to consider is writing-to-text conversion. I have only found two apps that really do this well: the Note software itself (you can write using the stylus and the Note converts to text) and Mazec 2. One really nice feature of Mazec 2 is that if you use NoteAnytime and write in a text box - but not convert on the fly - then you can convert at a later time. This is nice because conversion isn't always foolproof and it tends to slow me way down when I try to correct the mistakes the software makes. That said, I find that the Samsung software works better for me.
As for direct handwriting applications, I have tried many.
LectureNote gets really good review and I like its flexibility and power. But it isn't free, and its power comes at the expense of being more difficult to use.
I really like NoteAnytime. Its controls are intuitive and fast. It doesn't have line or shape tools - let alone shape recognition - like S-note, but I like the file system better.
LectureNotes is bitmap while NoteAnytime is vector graphics, so you can write really, really small when you zoom in and it is still legible.
Quill is okay, but I didn't stick with it long.
I like Papyrus, but NoteAnytime's controls are quicker to use. Papyrus is vector graphics, too.
Pensupremacy gets some good reviews, but I didn't see anyting better in it than other apps and when I imported it into Evernote the image was fuzzy.
Antipaper notes doen't do well if you place your palm on the screen, so I got rid of it quickly.
Write looks like a neat app, but when I'm taking notes I don't typically need the "word processor" features of it, so I don't use it much anyway.
One thing to mention is what I still have on my tablet. If I deleted it, I guess I didn't like it. If it is still on the tablet, I guess I like it enough.
Still loaded: Papyrus, Evernote, NoteAnytime, LectureNotes, Skitch, OneNote and Write. (Yes, Skitch really isn't a writing app, but it does really well in marking up photos.)
Here is another thread that contains a TON of info. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474744
Hope this helps!

I;ve never tried Mazec 2, but the Handwriting to text recognizition is awesome much much better than S-Note.
Owing to mbze430, i came to know the app called Stylus Beta by the same developper.
The function ans usability of handriting-to-text recognition in Japanese are awesome in both MyScript Note and Stylus Beta, with no comparison to Mazec2.
I cant wait for Stylus beta to be non-beta.

I say it's not because I still consider it nice to have. It has a lot of features and advantages that my other PDF readers don't have. However the advantages aren't so great as to warrant a purchase so I'd be sitting here always toying with the idea of getting it but then never get it because I could never justify the purchase.
I'd go into greater detail I doubt anyone is really that interested.

Far best is s note if you don't mind converting ur pdf files to images. LectureNotes is far from user friendly. You have to prepare a list of resolution tables for different size of files and your calculator to determine the dpi for import.

@earthtk: I expected that users both decide for a paper format for their notebooks and import only PDF files of a given paper format, in which case the resolution is fixed. The next version v2.3.12 of LectureNotes will come with an optional auto-adjustment of resolution for multiple pages PDF import (`import PDF as new notebook´ and `import PDF as new pages´).

That's awesome! Just wondering why you guys code the app to deal files as images instead of pdf as text? Saves all the trouble of resolutions.
I hope it future you will have such function and I don't mind purchasing it as another version. :good: good job nevertheless.
@earthtk: PDF is a quite complex format. The PDF reference is a book of 750 pages (see http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf/pdf_reference.html) and a PDF library is not something that you code for fun on a rainy afternoon; a PDF library contains several person-years (if not person-decades) of hard work.
Unfortunately, the Android API does not contain a PDF handling class, hence apps have to bring PDF handling with them. There are PDF libraries with GNU licence (such as the MuPDF library that PDFView is based on) as well as commercial PDF libraries. I could include a commercial PDF library into LectureNotes, but the license fee would rise LectureNotes' price beyond a level that users would be willing to pay for a handwriting app. This is why there is PDFView based on the MuPDF library, which is published with GNU license.
