What's the difference between CM7 rom and Virtuous rom???
Because I'm thing about updating from virtuous to cm7
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
One big difference is that CM doesn't have HTC Sense, but Virtuous does.
Also, CM is based on 2.3, whereas Virtuous is 2.2.1

Best thing to do is flash and see for youself! Look at the specs of the roms and flash! That's what I do.

I agree. I was doing the same thing as you trying to find the difference between two different ROMs and I found that it was just easier to flash and try them yourself. Plus it was fun flashing different ROMs
I really like Roto CM7 rom So far out of all of all the roms I have tryed and it seems more stable as well as fast. but I am flashing B#54 because it has the tethering in it. seems he has taken it out after that and since I do not have Internet at home anymore... Moved and have not gotten it.... I tether...
Hey,
Well Virtuous is based on the stock rom (therefore it comes with sense). On the other hand is CM which is build on top of vanilla android (therefore it can use 2.3).
If you like the look and feel and the bundled apps of the desire z with stock rom, you will love Virtuous because its just an extension.
If you think the stock one is overloaded and you like the vanilla android experience, CM is the way to go.
In both cases you get a custom kernel with a lot of nice features.
I use CM on my G1 and Virtuous on my G2. And I like both! well more the G2 but that has nothing to do with the rom

Just curious and wondering what is the best sense rom in terms of batter life?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
I have virtuous running on one of the phones in the house, it runs great.
Lol just try the roms for yourself my friend and see which one you like

I could do that.. but id like to hear what the general public says before adventuring into the world of sense roms. I'm running virtuous Rom right now. It's okay. Seems little laggy. Should be faster on the g2 then the evo which i have in front of me as we speak. Id like to say the G2 is much faster than the evo.

I use GingerSense 2.3 but thats just me
id say the best is TeamVillains new one!

Are you using the standard or advanced kernel, and if the latter what are you OC'ing your phone to? I'm using the standard kernel, and my phone doesn't seem laggy at all. There are the occasional moments of slowness, but nothing to the point where I would consider it troublesome to me.

I'm using the advanced kernel, overclocked to 1.0ghz. I like the TeamVillian Sense rom, cant stand the bugy landscape mode..
Does anyone know of a Sense-based ROM which has the Bluetooth A2DP bitpool size problem fixed?
Andre
Virtuous ROM 1.0.1 with Standard Kernel @ 1GHz for me. No lag what-so-ever and working great! lovin' it
The best Sense ROM is the one that uninstalls itself and loads CM7 or some AOSP variant
I'm using gingersense 2.3, so far so good

Id wait a few days as now Sense and Gingerbread work together so there are going to be alot of releases based on that.
does anyone know if there is word of a stock update to Gingerbread 2.3 for the Desire Z. and if there are going to be roms made with Sense and Gbread, will they be available in ROM Manager. I am very interested in this GingerSense. where is it available.
Thanks.

HTC said that the Desire family of devices would be getting an official update to v2.3 in June or July.
Hey xda,
I just got a HTC G2, straight of ebay. I'll be following the tutorials posted to perma-root, CID unlock and S-off (not using visionary).
My only question and concern is, just because I am new to this phone, apart from CM being at the top, what other roms are stable? fast? and reliable? (decent battery life, not too many fc's etc)
I'm very much interested in something with HTC Sense, but meh, am willing to compromise if its too buggy. I've been reading here and there that there are tons of problems with scaling etc when phones switches from portrait/landscape etc.
Any suggestions will be great! Thank you for reading this far!!
Sorry, but you're going to have to do what everyone else does. Try them out and decide for yourself.
Hello and welcome!
My suggestions:
If you want sense, look up Virtuous 1.0.2 for froyo. If you want sense 3.0, look up Virtuous Fusion 1.0.0.
If you want stock android, look up Virtuous G-lite 1.0.2.
All of the above ROMs are by the same dev, are very stable and I have used all of the above. Currently using G-lite because as much as I love sense, it does take alot of memory.
As posted before, try the ROMs for about a week each and see how you like them. It's all personal preference.

insertcoin is a nice mix between sense 2.1 and 3.0

I couldn't agree more; as far as ROMs go, rmk's are the most stable. CyanogenMod7 is actually extremely buggy still on the G2 (at least, when I used it a few weeks ago). While CM7 is probably the fastest ROM I've used, there are lots of little things that don't work correctly, and newer builds sometimes will break things that worked on older builds. I'm currently running G-Lite and I'm extremely satisfied.

Cm6.1.1 is nice and stable with decent battery life. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the myriad gingerbread releases but it gets the job done and can be tweaked to appear incredibly 'speedy' by using spare parts from the app market and Launcher Pro.
Ill throw my vote in there for Pyrorom. Its fast and is based off of CM7 if I remember correctly. I had tried a few, but as soon as I booted Pyro, I knew it was the one.
Good luck anyways.

virtuous g-lite is faster than cyanogenmod... check it out.
Try a stock rom! Or dive in and before you know it you will be flashing new roms every other day.

fwiw I have yet to find another ROM as stable as GingerVillain 1.5 with the 4.02.17 radio. Everything works perfect and I can get 18 hours battery life.
Tried Glite 1.02, super smooth, great ROM with the 4.30 radio BUT could not get the bluetooth to pair. Plus a few minor quirks with the camera flash not working. This is mostly due to the hw differences between the G2 and desire Z. I have a bell Can Desire Z
if u don't want sense...
If you have a G2, go for Glite 1.02 otherwise GV 1.5 is stable and can't be beat ..yet imo
Cm7 has been the only rom I stayed with. I tried sense roms and wanted to pull NY hair out, I simply just cannot stand sense.

I 2ND that.. pyromod 2.0 is the best... no force closes and faster than a Russian prostitute just check out the video for the rom. I've been on it forever (currently awaiting 3.0 which supposedly drops tonight/soon)

If you're looking for a sense rom, I'd recommend insertcoin.
I'd also recommend trying out Miui and vanilla based Roms

In time, yep, will be flashing around here and there and i'll know for myself. I just wanted to know which ones are the best to start of with. I remember when i got my Milestone, man, i flashed all the bad roms first, had soo many problems.
Especially when ROM threads exceed 50 pages, Yikes!! Takes forever to go through them.
Thanks though!

I saw the video review of it on Youtube and it looks solid! Thank you!
Just finished rooting my Evo 4G for the first time and was wondering about the different ROM available. I haven't rooted since i had my Hero a year ago. I had fresh on my Hero and loved it. However I mainly use launcher pro and wanted to get away from a sense based ROM as I wanted to use full HDMI out and bluetooth HIDS and from last time I heard a bug in sense prevented this..is this still correct?? I was looking toward CM7.
So does anyone have any recommendation to start off with?
Thanks,
-Stephen
Sense does have the broken Bluetooth stacks, yes. So AOSP-wise? Whenever I actually use AOSP, I use MIUI with latest Tiamat kernel. People complain about no 4G and how it looks like an iPhone, but it is so customizable and it has some great devs.
Other than that, I would suggest SalvageMod or Deck's.
MIUI>SalvageMod>Deck's. All with the latest Tiamat.
But I am a Sense guy, so you know.... Full HDMI mirroring works on Sense with latest Freedom and Chopsuey kernel, if you are interested.
And if you need a refresher, check out my guide in my signature. It is written for Sense but it should apply universally.

thanks, ill look into those. Also what recovery do you recommend CM or RA?
Amon Ra by far

My recommendation would be Team Nocturnal Xplod 1.2 with Tiamat 3.37, it has bewn very smooth for me and AOSP

My recommendations :
CM7.1.0
ICS themes from market (both cm7 and adw.)
Set screen density to 200.

i recommend amon ra, and if you are interested in learning about aosp roms/kernels click on the link in my sig it's a guide that will explain it all to you with download links to all the roms and download zips to all the kernels. and if you need help installing your rom/kernel i put a link there to a guide for that
Thanks everyone,
I'm gonna start w/ CM7 stable. A few quick questions. What would be the best kernel to go with this. Something to increase battery, trickle charging.
Also do i need to flash a radio with this??
I went with Decks. From what I read it is a striped down version of CM7. What are the main differences? whats has been removed?

Decks is the way to go with aosp roms. I read people praising salvaged zen all the time, but I always have issues when charging my phone on that kernel. I go with.Tiamat. I like the idea of an aosp rom that is still being updated.

The one thing i can say i didnt like about Cm7 is the way it links contacts .. sense is amazing at linking contacts

yea the contact link is the 1st thing i noticed. Don't like it at all but i can deal with it. Main reason I'm going w/ AOSP is to use bluetooth HIDs, as sense doesn't allow this.

Can I just flash the Tiamat on top or will i have to reflash the ROM again and start over?
I just flashed the tiamat kernel. went w/o SBC as i have read that can be risky. Do I need to adjust any settings to help with battery life or does the kernel take care of that? Should Id be using setCPU?

I have tried a bunch of roms, asop and sense, I by far like the aosp roms much better. I am currently digging the latest Xplod rom by Team Nocturnal.
Team Blaze Roms with Sense 3.5 you cant go wrong with Blaze

I've seen these on different phone forums and it got me thinking what's the best combo for our phone?
I'm currently running the latest "Eating Poptarts and ****ting Rainbows" rom with v6 supercharger + Tiamat kernel with Shot of Awesomeness.
That's a pretty awesome combo in my opinion, but I was just wondering what other good combos there are out there. I suffer from that ORD & I'm constantly looking for bigger and better things lol
I don't know about which is the fastest ics Rom, but the fastest kernel is the bfs kernel made by collective Imo.

I can't for the life of me find it. I only find thread talking about it but none with the link
I've been using CM9 Inferno with Inferno Shot and it's working just how I'd like it. Only been using about a day. I'm curious what everyone else thinks. I almost made an identical thread to this.
I'm actually gonna flash inferno shot in the morning after a full charge and see how that goes. I'm curious to also try the bfs kernel mentioned above.
