Voltage settings with OC - Galaxy Tab General

I just loaded the Inintial Contact Rom on my Sprint Tab. I found the voltage control/OC utility and was wondering what settings ya were using. I have searched these forums extensively and have found nothing on what people are using on these tabs. Thanks again

Anybody got a sprint tab with this ROM?

I haven't seen your ROM or Kernel (which is the far more important component when overclocking) so I'm not sure what it's capable of but you can see a couple of people (including me) share settings here.
Overcome can go up to 1.6GHz so I usually leave it on 800-1400 MHz as a general rule, with the same cascading voltage scheme I shared in the link.

Thanks that somewhat of a baseline to go by. This ROM just came out a few weeks ago and i just got the time to load it. I am running a kernel by rodderick. Fastest I can clock to is 1200mhz.

Yeah I think that's as fast as that kernel would let you Oc I have the exact same set up.

Overclocking on intial contact
After you move it up to 1200, save the settings. Close the program. then go back in. You should be able to move it higher? I'm pretty sure that's what I did. I flashed initial contact today. I'm keeping mine on 1200 for now... I don't feel like being too risky yet.

CPU Boost

Hey guys, so i have the seeArms JL2 Rom installed with the speed mod kernal.
So my question is. How do i set the values for the cpu boost. All the values have K's at the end not mhz or whatever lol so id like to know what the K's mean.
And also i follwed the instructions for the kernal and the rom so i enabled all the tweaks and lagfix options so thats all done but i just need to sort out the cpu boost values.
Hope this question makes sense.
And lastly with the lagfix whats the difference between the options ext 3 and 4. And with binds and without binds whats those all about
Thanks in advance

And whenever i set the cpu boost, the values dont stay, they keep going back to stock

How about reading forum rules + reading original post of speedmode + posting in actual speedmode kernel topic?
Sure i will do that Sir. Thanks for the tip

Hellllll with tv screen off animation and setcpu!!

Screen off animation help and setcpu with cm7!
My tv screen off animation worked for probably 1 hour before I downloaded apps... idk why it's gone but I would love to get it back without widgetlocker.
Also I have read people getting 15 + hours of battery life using setcpu I just want to know what I should set it to and if I should use screen off addition. Thanks

I have min set to 264 for pandora to work and max at 748. You may need to play with max since every hero can run 691, but not all can go higher.
hmmm, i had same problem with the tv screen off animation. i don't use setcpu i am using kifno's tweak. he has two, one for more battery life and one for more performance. reason i mention it is that when i flashed his tweak, suddenly my screen animation came back and has stayed.
Yeah ill try his tweak. I'm gonna go with battery rather than performance. Will I lose all my apps? It says I have to wipe I'm pretty sure

Do I flash both MP and BL?

No you will not loose any apps. Mp= More performance and Bl=more battery life. Don't flash both. Just read the thread carefully, choose one and flash from recovery.
Yea it's Me Again With The

I just flashes battery life. I'm going to wait til completely dead but I see absolutely nothing different so far... is it just like signal strength and little boosts like that? And battery of course. Should there be another application? Something in my settings? It just seems too easy

Also tv animation is still gone :/

Also, I use autokiller memory optimizer. It doesn't say anything in the description but let me know if it's bad for it

You should really take the time to read the whole thread or as much as you can to understand how you are modifying your phone setup. The risk/benefits will/should be posted by the OP. Also user experiences and feedback will be posted there as well.
With that being said.
The BL mod will take time to setup you will not see an immediate extension in battery life untill you have properly calibrated your battery. However you should experience a boost in 3g dl/ul
speeds. This will be minimal compared to the Mp mod but should be better than stock.
The Mp tweak results should take effect immediately hence the name of the mod.
Basically you can't have both. Its either one or the other. I run the Mp tweak and it might help with your animations. This is my understanding of the mod. To gain a better perspective hop over to the thread and read or Pm the dev. He's on break now but I think he's answering Pm's. He's quick to respond and is a cool dev.
Well Good luck. If you want to try a mod and have read upon it and need any help let me know if I can I will.

Alright thanks. I'll tell ya how my battery life is. Still looking to get that tv animation back so if you find out let me know

question about over clocking

i'm using "Toxic Baby" FF KB5 2.9.2 I897/T959 Captivate Rom{Toxic Heroes) 4/17/2011. Maybe I mis read but i thought that you can set you clock speed in there and i'm just not finding it. Also if i select one of the "launcher" how would i change it to Launcher 7 if i wanted to later
Download setcpu for oc. Use app homeswitcher to go back to other launchers.

To over and underclock you need an app to do so (maybe there is another way but I've never seen it) here is a link for SetCPU a simple to use overclocking app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
before using this you should read the ROM forum and make sure there isn't a specific overclocking app you're supposed to use, and check your app tray and make sure there wasn't an overclocking app preinstalled.
i've looked all over at all the apps and settings and i couldn't find an over clocking app. Thanks for the link
You have to download one from the market.

[Q] Overclocking guide for above 1.2 Ghz

Is there one or as simple trial and error kind of thing?
Thanks

Just trial and error. I would start at 1.2ghz on stepping 5 and increase by 50mhz being sure to thoroughly test each clock rate.
Do NOT use the set on boot option until you are sure it is stable.

I ended up testing/benchmarking in 25mhz increments. I know it was a bit more time consuming, but I found that my NC could handle 1275 while using multimedia intensive apps, but a friend could get his up to 1325 running benchmarks and not rebooting.
I think we got in one or two runs at 1350, but it definitely wasn't stable. Broke 4200 in quadrant, for whatever that's worth.
I have it set at 1300 and performance and get 2582 how do you get 4200?

This was a fresh install with no other background tasks running. All we did was get the CM7 ROM loaded, OC Kernel and gapps.
I'll get some screenshots of his quad scores when he gets back from helping a buddy move. I think we took screenshots of everything 1250+. I might try getting a full reload working and see if I can break that barrier.
I'm running 1325 and the best score I can get is high 3100s.
Can you guys tell me what settings you have under performance menu?
Sent from my NookColor using XDA Premium App
I got similar scores to them and I used the default settings In performance... I think its a matrer of what you have installed and your device. Also don't worry about quadrant scores they are not that important. If your nook runs smooth what does it matter?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Each machine will have to be trial and error. Different device..even same hardware are really all different to one degree or another....example...I have 2 nooks..both running the same version of cm..and kernel...my second one never gets past 3200 on quadrant...go figure...same exact software running on both.
I did this test with benchmarks back to back on higher cpu frequencies, and i ended up with 1325 being the highest stable i could go. Very low 3000's for benchmarks in quadrent which dont mean anything of course, but there ya go. Runs like a champ.
Sorry for the ignorant reply...but what will overclocking actually do? I have a NC with a dual boot CM7 SDcard. Didn't do it, bought it from Jonathan on Ebay, works great!

Overclocking

Is there such thing as a safe overclock speed? Will my phone blow up for running it at 1.2 on a daily basis? (I searched for this topic but couldn't find anything specific to the glacier)
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
The cpu in this phone overclocks well. 1.2 definitely won't hurt it. I've known people who ran everyday at 1.5.
I have an excellent cable internet service, with wireless. As such, I don't notice a real difference when I'm on WiFi. I wouldn't want to overclock anymore than 1.2 to 1.4

I was wondering the same thing

I'm just referring to the overall speed and performance of the handset. I haven't noticed any better performance with my phone being overclocked...isn't that the purpose of overclocking, to increase speed & performance? If not I am misunderstanding the purpose of overclocking?
I was just saying that with browsing and overall usage on my WiFi connection its hard to notice any changes whether I'm running at 1 GHz or 1.5 GHz ....

Overclocking doesn't speed up internet service though. It just speeds up scrolling through pages, windows, opening applications and overall performance within the applications and device.
I would get SetCPU, then you probably are fine up to 1.4 ghz. I really can't recommend pushing it higher because there isn't a noticable performance increase. I use SetCPU and i am clocked at around 122Mhz-1.3Ghz with a screen off profile of 122-768Mhz and a temperature profile of 32C> 122Mhz-1.0Ghz.
I know, a lot to take in but i get really good battery life with that stuff. If you get SetCPU, experiment.
Also, here are the take away messages.
1. USE SETCPU, ITS AWESOME
2.DON'T PUSH IT TO 2GHZ. YOU WILL FRY YOUR MOTHERBOARD
---If i have help, well you know the button to push---

I have been running at 1.2 for a year now and no problems whatsoever. Actually, what I have found has helped performance was to set the minimum CPU a little higher. It allows for a little less lag while your CPU is "spinning up." (I mean at 230, not at 500 or something)
1.2 is a very stable Overclock. You shouldn't run into any problems with that setting. Anything above 1.5 I wouldn't mess with, and you probably wouldn't see much of a real world speed increase from it anyway.

Not to mention battery life goes in the toilet at high clockspeeds
