This is the continuation of watsa's discontinued Apex ROM. Now with even more SGS2!
Apex no longer includes Adobe FlashPlayer because the newest version fails when integrated into the system ROM. Please download it from the Android Market if you need it.
Apex also no longer includes SamsungApps by default. It can be found in the extras section.

Known issues:
Screenshots sometimes include a faded Phone Options menu, even though the 1.5s delay means it's long gone from the screen. I have no idea how to fix this.

i wouldnt call tw aplha sort as known issue. the tw on i9000 roms lack this feature for some strange reason. you can try tw from latest kk2 leak or else people have appzorter as a solution. let me know if u need help in solving other known issues
Does this rom support BLN? That seems to be the only feature really missing from the latest crop of i897 roms.

BLN is a kernel support issue, not a ROM issue. Talon definitely supports it, and I believe DarkCore does as well.

I actually left that one out because the existing one is in keeping with the SGS2 theme. All you would have to do to replace it would be to open Mms.apk in, say, 7-zip and drag in a new ic_launcher_smsmms.png.

It is the JVT browser with some minor tweaks. Assuming that the JVT browser is hardware accelerated, so is this one.
I install, the first time I can use TSM setting, but after that, I wipe all and when setup complete in first boot, I can't go to TSM setting ( Deluxe ) again, it forclose! any tip for fix it? or I need reflash rom again?

This is not an Apex release. 9.0 is the official version out
Reason for keeping it ODEXED:
In layman terms deodexing on JVQ+ roms seem to break browser.
In theory deodexing might be breaking some other functions too but browser is most noticable.
Once this process is fixed we will start getting wonderful ROMs with fully working browser and what not.
Since this is odexed rom MODs are much harder to implement. However it seems to be noticably smoother.

I have not found any benefits yet but I also have not found any major problems. I am using the Darky R kernel and it is smooth.
I had to reboot for the phone to allow TiBu to root but that is it. Install all apps with no problems.
Not sure how much messing I will do with it since it looks like not much will be done on this ROM for a while... and I do not use the alarm clock

I will keep it on for a few days. Let me know if you want something tested. I use it mainly for exchange email and phone calls, with 10 or so texts a day. Use both WiFi and AT&T. Watch movies on the home TV not the phone......

There was a slight glitch in this build and the Android Market was not included. Installing the latest GAPPS fixes this.

What this ROM is: A super slim, super fast Gingerbread AOSP ROM that is geared towards the best performance you can get, while not sacrificing battery life.
What this ROM is NOT: A Sense ROM or a themed ROM. You get very close to a vanilla experience without any themes or Sense to slow it down.
What about bugs? This ROM has been in private testing for about a month now and is virtually bug free. The LTE, Wifi, GPS, Camera, BT, etc. all work perfectly. The only real "bug" is that at the bottom of the Settings application it says About OMGB. I had to borrow the Settings.apk from OMGB. The correct settings application will be included in V5 if all goes well.
How to install this ROM:
Flash the 2.11 leak CDMA radio and LTE combo from here.
Wipe Data and Cache
Install the ROM from Recovery
Install the latest GAPPS from here.
Go through the setup wizard
Allow your phone 30 minutes to an hour to sync and create all caches for maximum performance.

Out of curiousity more than anything. This ROM have swap option? I normally like to try without then compare to with it enabled.

No gapps are needed. The Android Market is included with the rom, and you can download any other gapps you may want on there. This way you can be more selective about it.

2.3.4. I started testing before 2.3.5 was out. That shows just how thorough the testing really was.

Ummmm...I've had gapps 2.3.5 installed for a little while now....what issues should I look out for?
Does this support auto-dock-mode when inserted in the HTC desktop dock? That's the main thing missing from CM7 for me.

Is there anyway to get this with the normal home back and menu buttons? I'm not a fan of the ones the rom comes with, but i do like the other things.
Oh yes very nice, downloading now and going to flash in the morning since it 11pm here. Love the theme. Have you had any issues with losing root permissions upon start up? I seem to have issues with that until I install an older version of Superuser.apk and end up being okay and not losing my setting in system tuner. Might try out the nofrills cpu app that is included, can it undervolt? Looking forward to giving this rom a run for its money. Thanks for this and also the My Rom that you posted as well.
I think I fixed the superuser problem, and no frills cpu just lets you change clock speed and governor basically...
nice rom. One question, I installed spb shell 3d, everything works, except the flickr picture of the daym always gets the loading failed error, which didn't occur using the other rom, could you try and find if there is a bug?

I'm Loving it! Hulu works, everything is stable, and its fast. I am having better luck here with my Gen2 than I did with Honeyvillain's rom.
I got exchange service FC and cannot configure exchange account.
I get some weird **** happening with thors kernel both stock and the others......lines, like dead pixels, every time th screen changes plus wifi isnt working

I dont have an Exchange server to test against, but I just configured a non existent account and no FC here...try clearing the cache maybe?
hulu is not working. It says it is not supported on this platform. Tried in dolphin hd browser and stock browser. Any suggestions?

First off, this rom is amazing, really plain though. So if you want a fast simple rom use this one. Porting is usually easy, just change the kernel and edit the updater-script to delete the build.prop check

Speed is good if you want you can flash glitch kernel, download nstools and then overclock.

You don't need to flash glitch, AOKP 23 has built-in overclocking which is working quite well. Settings->ROM control->performance.

ı dont see new version. If ı have time i will update both slim ics to 2.6 and MIUI asnet to 1.4.1...
Working Battery % Mod...Does anyone know how to add just the Galaxy S Settings app?
The Slim_ICS_2.5_Battery_Percent Mod from the i9000 thread works on the cappy with no problem.
So does the Slim_ICS_2.6_Removed_Apps_Google_Addon.
Does anyone know how to add just the Galaxy S Settings app?
I'd like to only add the Galaxy S Settings app (AriesParts.apk), and have tried removing everything from the Add-on package and then flashing it. It does seem to install, but then I get "Unfortunately, Galaxy S Settings has stopped."
Edit: Figured it out. Had to leave the "lib" folder.

Go into build.prop under /system and edit it so that LCD_density=240

Found it:
settings/ASS/GeneralUI/LCD Density.
gives the option to change it to 240 and reboot. Everything looks "normal" now
Is there a minimum CWM recovery version you must have to flash this ROM?
Also, has anyone got Touchwiz launcher working with slim ics?

i think 5.5.0.4
It doesn't require the version as it will be replaced when you select to flash the ROM! have fun on this ROM

if normal is big fat fonts , i am a 182DPI guy, looks better IMO. But thats the beauty of customization, you change it to whatever you want.
I kept getting status 7 and errors installing this ROM. Work-around is installing THS build 16 first then your good to go

Go to the link in OP and then scroll down till you see the slim ics base and the captivate essentials, flash base 1st followed by the essentials pack for captivate.
