Hi all!
I just got my Acer Iconia and i'm very pleased with it, but the email client only gives me access to the last 1000 emails or 30 days.
Is there a way to get pass this? I would like it to show all my emails I have.
In outlook I have created folders for diffrent things and the native email client just lists everthing in the left menu, is there a workaround for this so I get folders and subfolders like it's in outlook?
Or I need another email client? been looking at K-9 but it has 30 days too.
best regards

Hi there...
Anyone know a smart way for moving mails between outlook and other mailacouts on the universal ?
I often have mails in my suynced folders, and need to forward then while been out of the office, I cannot find a way to move the mail to my "mobile" acound, to be able to forward it.
this is a lousy bug in wm5 :-(
You cannot choose from which account you want to send a mail, unless you were in the right folder when you clicked on "New" mail ! :evil:
If you save it as a draft in one of the mail account folders, you cannot move it to another mail acct....thats plain stupid of MS....
you got to live with it, no other go! copy/paste the text....and create a new mail The only way!

This is just one of things that used to frustrate me to no end with a POP account.
Two months ago I switched to a hosted exchange account, and it has been nothing but joy. Now email, contacts, calander and tasks work the way they should.
Check out www.4smartphone.com they have a 15 day trial.
I do agree with you, but my company use pop3, so i'm stuck..
The other problem with sending mail and it cuts of the content (text) within the mail are even worsh for me....
No problem with you're company using POP, 4smartphone will PULL it off their POP server.
Sorry I've got no ideas on what is happening with your email being truncated.
I have just received a Vario11 and setting up email I see there is no setting for this in the same way there is in Outlook desktop versions or Outlook Express.
Searching the forum and wiki, there are lots of posts about this, but they all seem to be inconclusive.
My only experience so far has been with a Dell PDA winmob5 and I'm sure it had this setting.
I am using pop3 email from an account the same as you would get from Freeserve and many others. I want to be able to ensure all mail received on the account gets to the desktop at some point, and only when travelling with the Vario will it be downloading email and replying/sending. Sent messages would be nice to get onto the desktop as well instead of having to copy the email to myself.
Testing it; I just tried downloading an email on the Vario and a copy seemed to stay on the server which I have been able to download to the desktop. So maybe it is default set to always leave on the server.
But what happens with active sync? I'm reluctant to test this without more understanding of what goes which way and what happens if messages are deleted on either device.
My desktop Outlook pst is approaching 1gb, so maybe I need to achive and tidy it up before I sync?
Is there a comprehensive post anywhere, or a good website that spells all this out?
Any other recommendations for use in my situation would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi, I use gmail, and there is a setting on the prefrences at the gmail site to keep messages on the server and most by default do, I don't use active sync to sync my mail, so I get mail on my tytn with gprs, and if I had a home pc connection, I could just run my mail client on the desktop to check my mail, and I would have all the same messages, not sure if that was what you were wanting to accomplish or not.

I found that downloading leaves email on the server. However, deleting mail on the HTc TyTN, also deletes the mail on the server at the next download.
My work, unfortunately, uses Groupwise and I'm gonna get no support in getting a Groupwise mobile server or anything setup, so I'm stuck with syncing local for contacts and appts and tasks. I am, however, using and IMAP access to get my emails, and this works pretty well with the default Pocket Outlook email client.
One thing missing is that I have a couple of subfolders where I have rules that automatically direct emails from like my Boss or other people into the folder so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle of other stuff. However, I'm not getting notification when new emails are pulled into those folders. If I go into my email program I can see that I have new emails there, but I get the buzz or message icon that I have new emails. Is there anyway to make it so when new messages get pulled into the subfolders that I also get notified?
Ideally I'd REALLY like to stick with the default email program as I'm also using Mobile Shell and mobile shell apparently only integrates with the default email app.

I would like the same.
I have never found a fix to this issue and IIRC it is a limitation of the software.
I am using gmail so I just set up forward rules and dummy accounts. So I had account X with sub directory Y I have the email intended to Y get forwarded to account A and set A as a separate account. I dont know if this would work with mobile shell ( if it only looks at the outlook account)

It is indeed an Outlook issue. It only sends alerts on mails in the inbox. On my exchange server, the emails are redirected on the server before Outlook ever sees that they touch the inbox and thus no alert.
The only solution is some sort of third-party app, that would be nice.
If you're using Groupwise as your mail server, what is the email client you run on your workplace computer? And your workplace computer OS?
If your accessing Groupwise mail through Outlook on your work computer, your rules can be setup as client side instead of server side rules. If Groupwise behaves like a MS Exchange then your client side rules would only process when you're logged into your Outlook client. So when you're not in front of your PC, you wouldn't move your mail from your Inbox. Thus making them invisible to Pocket Outlook.
Or you could setup some special notification or delayed move rules. Again assuming you're using Outlook. Ornic InboxRules can be used to create some complex rules if you go that route. I haven't personally used it, but I used the predecessor to it called CaTrap to parse the sender, subject, and parts of the body into a another email and forward that via SMS to my phone.
If you can manage to get stuff to your Pocket Outlook Inbox, there are a few good tools that will give you advanced notification options on your phone. See this thread for details. Hope this helps to get you started.
You can see on http://www.magica.ro/pda_pocket_checkmail.php an application which solves your problem; it works together with ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile in order to alert users about unread mails in Inbox and Subfolders.
You can test it by downloading the demo version.
We published version 2.0 of CheckMail application.
New features are:
- displays messages on "Today Screen";
- audio alert when new messages are received;
- audio reminder if the new messages where not read (the interval when these verifications are made is selectable by user);
- by taping on CheckMail application, user can open Messaging application (Outlook);
- user can select in CheckMail application not to check Inbox (only subfolders).
Visit http://www.software.magicashop.ro/pda_pocket_checkmail.asp to see details and demo application.
whenever I upgrade a ROM I reinstall my BB software and everything works. Prob is I can never see older emails than the moment I install the software. I would like to see, say, the last 2 weeks worth of emails (in all folders)
Anyone know how to do this?
I am not familiar with the blackberry applications...but Is this a pop3 account or other based email account? If so I have had problems in the past with my phone or outlook not saving a copy of the emails on the host server. It would delete them when it checked my mail.
Maybe a setting in the way your program is setup to check the email?
I can't figure out how to refresh IMAP folders in the mail client. I created a new folder in my desktop mail client. I actually want to do a subfolder too. But I refreshed on my phone and no new folder. Go to accounts and refreshing is no dice too. Force-quitting the email app and reloading in/refreshing doesn't work either. I haven't found any advice on the web either, except that HTC Sense does it better.
Anyone figured out a way to refresh your IMAP folders?
I found that after trying for 20 minutes, then installing K9 (which failed for exchange support), I came back to the default mail client and it had refreshed, with the sub folder working even.
I guess it decides to refresh on "it's own damn schedule".
