I have update my DVP to 7740 using the offline update tool posted in Windows development and Hacking, But there has been no changes in the software just that the phone now shows 7740.16 instead of 7720.
Has anyone else updated their phones, and if there has been some changes in the software they have noticed, please post here.
You sir are my hero for pointing me to that offline update tool. I was able to not only update my DVP but also add my mother tongue as a language (dutch).
Having said that, other than the different version number, I have not noticed much change from before. My DVP still has difficulties connecting to my wifi AP... Compass is still broken as well (to be expected).
Yes the compass is still broken, but i am having no problems connecting to my secure wifi .
7740 only fix voice mail notification and Exchange server connection issue. No tethering, no compass fix.

no tethering... SIGH!
Tethering is likely never to come to the DVP. It was never promised.

@rishabmittal
Could you be more specific which offline update tool did you use (I don't want to brick my DVP cause it's far away from US where it was bought)?
Or perhaps you could share with us the entire update procedure.
My DVP is unbranded (generic) with Mango 7720 and recently Chevron unlocked.
Thanks!
you can update your dvp visiting the link given below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
download all the attached files and download the 7740 attachment and do as given in the forum.
The above method doesn't work anymore

I can't find a wp7update tool on internet, its says its unsupported by the developer and no link for the files ... ...
BTW does this work on a bricked dvp ?
I'm trying to flash a firmware onto it, it's basically missing the original SD card so it's saying Storage Card Not Working ... ... or is that simply the case of using a nokia phone to flash the card and hopefully it will update on zune ?
Please help ^^

For you DZ hunters out there, the official Quantum (AT&T) DZ name should be LG-C900AT-01-V11f-310-410-JUL-27-2011.
The internal rom name is: LG-C900-V11f_Final-JUL-27-2011-2250-7720.

Any news on the Quantum Bell (C900B)? I have the leaked 7720 ROM, but I think that one is missing some drivers.
That info would have to come from a C900B user who's on Mango. They'd have to go into the MFG to get the info as I have for this.

flashing help
I tried updating my Quantum a few weeks ago to software version 8107 using instructions found here. The backup failed, but since I didn't have any important info on the phone anyway, I proceeded with the update attempt. My phone lost connection during the upgrade process and was bricked.
I was able to hunt down the factory Quantum ROM for my AT&T Quantum. It took several attempts, but the flashing was finally successful. I went through the first 2 software updates successfully through the Zune software, but my phone lost connection during the Mango update and was bricked again. Whenever I try to flash the factory ROM now, my phone will reboot when the flashing is finished, but it will hang on the LG title screen and won't ever boot. Does anyone have any suggestions for what else I can try, or know where I can download the Mango ROM for AT&T's Quantum? The only link I've found online says the file has already been removed from the hosting site.

Repetively checked via zune since we first heard about the 8107 and still says its current with 7740 Factory unlocked AWS 16GB DVP in Canada.
Hoping that this update would bring meaningful features but alas, it'll probably be a letdown. Really want to like the DVP.
Also, no 8107 update yet on a TMO HD7 either.
No update on Europe Stock Unlocked DVP 8 Gb too...
The update will eventually come. Just be patient.
No problem for waiting. This minor update doesn't contain importang things, just little bug fixes, that I don't see at all...
Anyone have faith in their carrier requesting the update?

not that the disappearing keyboard is a serious issue?
Is there anyone willing / able to put together a .cab sender package to force us from 7720 to 7740 and then from 7740 to 8107? I don't have the confidence in myself when digging through the different updates and language packs. This would be a donation-worthy effort. Hopefully someone can bundle it together. If not, lets see how TMOUS plays this one.
I'm always hoping in tethering...
I update my DVP with Cabsender and official cabs to this update. Everything is ok, but this update don't good for my DVP.
I don't see any improvements, everything is work good without it. Only visible change is switching between 3G and Edge.
I use it 2 days and has 2 bugs with phone part. One time programs don't see mobile Internet, while "E" is showing and when i need to reboot.
Another time I can't recieve and dial calls and sms, but cellular signal strength showing full. Also need to reboot. Looks like a new RIL driver incompatible with old Dell radio firmware.
Of course I did backup of my last 7740 fw, and returned to it.
P.S.: Before this update I use my DVP more then one month wirh 7740 and don't see any problems with phone/RIL part and i think this is not mobile operator or SIM issues
7.10.8107 Update for DVP?
Has anyone got the 7.10.8107 Update for DVP without any hacks? Or is there any force update method like previous methods without the cabsender etc?
Still not even received the 7740. I know that operators can skip only 1 update as per MS and hence if they skipped 7740 which they did, they need to compulsorily provide the 8107 update. I have read there are a lot of fixes and hope they provide updates at the earliest.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the disable network while checking for updates hack in Zune just worked for me with the 8107 update. Unlocked DVP in Canada if that matters.
Updating right now.. will confirm if tethering is included but really now, not holding my breath.
EDIT: update nothing worth mentioning =( no tethering... only thing I can notice is the drop down selector for 3G and E.
Well, I guess AT&T users won't be getting this anytime soon. Not that it matters I guess, as long as the phone works.
tried the force update using disable network and does not work at my end. Still at 7720. Your phone is up to date.
Tried multiple times and after around 30 seconds get error 80072EFF any suggestions? I also tried Windows Phone Support Tool and says your phone cannot be restored.

Is there a way i can force a 7740 update?
Please help me out
So far the only way to update our TMO specific phones is the cab sender method. The generic DVP's have already gotten 7740.
Hopefully TMO will push out the 8107 update as they seemed to have skipped the 7740 update. Per MS, carriers are allowed to skip one update. Hopefully this holds true.

Could you please show me how/direct me to a link on how to do the 'cab sender method' ? I'm new to all this
You might be able to acquire the update via the "disconnection" method. I don't know the exact name off the top of my head, but it basically involves disconnecting from the internet in the middle of the update process and reconnecting your phone to receive the update.
There were a couple of pieces written on it, I'll try to find one that properly explains it.

The disconnect, or force method, won't work on T-Mobile/AT&T specific Venue Pros. I've tried numerous times on different computers. It only works on the generic version.
Here is the link for updating with the cab-sender tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415. Take your time and read through it. It can be very confusing.
I wonder what would happen if you used cabsender to force update your rom to be a 00EU or 00US rom, which have recieved 8107.
What're the odds it'd actually work vs bricking it?
Someone posted the list of files downloaded from
<some version i forget> -> 7720/219-33 (ie tmobile)
and the only device/carrier specific file that was sent was the one to install 219-33

Mobility Digest put together a download link to batch together the files needed to update phones from 7720 -> 7740 -> 8107 using cab sender here: http://mobilitydigest.com/windows-phone-8107-manual-update/
I did it last night and it updated me without a problem and in less than 10 minutes. No promises it works for everyone. I have a TMOUS locked DVP. There is a "read me" included in the download.
8107 has completely cleared up my disappearing keyboard issue. It also seems to run a little more smooth than before. Best of luck if you want to try it.
I would expect pushing the OS itself would work fine, I'm talking about pushing the firmware/driver/ROM/device specific (whatever you want to call it) portion.
The FileSonic download link on the MobilityDigest article no longer works, probably from the chill of the Megaupload suit. So I can't get at that easy readme file.
Trying to learn this method straight from the xda-devs threads - not easy - has left me a bit uncertain about which cabs I need to send to my TMO-US DVP (now at 7720). Posts in the other thread say that you need to update every language on your device or else you'll end up "Walshed", i.e. future automatic updates won't work. But without the ability to run homebrew xaps, I'm not sure how we figure out exactly which lang packs come preinstalled on the device, and therefore which cabs we need to grab for the updates.
Everybody keeps saying that the force updates method took them 10 minutes. Great. Can we describe the 7720-7740-8107 process and list all required cabs to get everyone on the same page, especially now that the MobilityDigest instructions have disappeared?

Hi All,
I manage a number of Samsung Omnia 7 handsets (Optus branded) and during an update to 7.10.7740.16 it fails with the error number of 80180048.
I have tried almost everything to try and get these handsets to update, but I keep on going round in circles, I contact Optus, they tell me to contact Samsung, who in turn tells me to contact Microsoft.
And no one seems to be able to tell me why these handsets are failing to update.
I've gone through every support site I can find, and I have no idea if there is something wrong with the handset, or something wrong with what I'm doing.
If any one has any suggestions that would be fantastic.

Hi Osso,
which fix?
The fix is here:
Microsoft Support
If the fix doesn't work you can update manually with CAB to the 7.10.7740.16 here:
[CAB] Official WP7 Updates List: 7.10.8107 + ALL LANGUAGES complete + OEM updates

I'll look at that fix, but if it involves "unlocking" or "rooting" the handset, I won't be able to do that as these are handsets that my company has deployed to one of our clients, and we do not wish to void warranty as of yet.
Thanks Osso17 anyway =)
No unlocking needed for CAB sender, it's just a way to push updates to your phone.

You didn't capture the URL so we can all download it too?
Please can I ask a big favor of you?
If you could restore your phone (it will rollback to before the firmware update, but still have 8773) and download Wireshack and monitor you internet connection in promiscuous mode. Enter filter: "http.request" (without the double quotes). Start to update your phone. You'll see all the webrequests it makes. You'll also see the cab file for the firmware update. It will look something like this: http://download.windowsupdate.com/m...1/02/oem_update**********.pks.***********.cab
That's the address we all need to know in order to download the firmware update on our phones (like mine) which aren't receiving a notification on Zune.
EDIT: If you're not willing to do the above then please just tell us about your phone (what country, whether it is branded with a mobile phone company or unbranded, etc).
No updates today here! Does anyone have the option to send voice memos through MMS after Tango update? I can't even export contacts to SIM.

Thanks, now the question is: can we flash this OEM update on unbranded phones?
Thanks very much for posting that.
So its the fabled April 2012 update, in this instance its the unbranded Nordic (localized) retail release. It should work on all unbranded handsets. I would expect that it will be coming to all retail phones fairly shortly?
So I guess we should recieve it via Zune after all... sooner or later!
