Its gingerbread but with optimization for dual core support. Imagine gingerbread with a little honeycomb on the side.

True. You should still care about updates though. They can't do anything until there's either a rom dump, or source is released to AOSP. Hence the reason that there were already some Gingerbread roms out before Cyanogen released the first nightly.

I use an old HTC Magic with a modded version 2.2. It works to test my app, but often my memory seems to be almost full

actually i thought there would be more people on 2.2 or 2.2.1 in the samsung vibrant forum i see maybe almost half still on those builds since we still are having trouble with our gps in GB

There was a rom that had a booting honeycomb, but it was abandoned, basically because it wasn't practical.
So to answer you, no.
The thread can be found in the dev section.

you may want to wait until Android 4.0 codename "Ice Cream Sandwich" is released, as I'm certain there will be ROM's created for the EVO and other devices. It will be for both phones and tablets, and it will be nearly identical in appearance for both.

Honeycomb is only for tablets.

BUT to answer your question....NO, the HTC EVO will not get an official 4.0 update.

Thats why our developers here on XDA will provide for us. Check the forums for an ICS Alpha build. That's the closest we will get to an official 4.0 for EVO 4G

Cm7 is because bubby323 was banned here since he takes peoples money and uses them and barely develops for phones and did nothing to contribute to tmo sgsii when he got that donated.
Cm9 is on xda, by sbrissen.
Miui is by T.C.P and I've been working with him to improve it and fix stuff. You guys should have a miuiv4 soon.
