[Q] weird multi-touch. Is this normal? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I've made this video to illustrate what's happening:
youtube.com/watch?v=sRTykAIuK7c
Does anyone else have the same problem?

Noop, not normal. Have you tried it with another app?

yes same problem.
i found out something wasn't quite right when i tried to play some games and the controls were acting funny.

+1
happens the same to me, on miui. But after some time it starts to work fine.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk

exactly what happens to me. after some time it starts to work fine, but if you put it to sleep after o turn the screen the problem is back.
And another thing i noticed is that if you plug it to the charger the problem is completely gone.

I'm also getting this problem on my U8800pro. If I use GO Launcher's function to end all programs, then the multitouch works fine until those programs automatically start up again...

it seems that the cpu isn't working with a speed capable of processing the touch inputs

Touchscreen issue may have found temp fix.

Sorry if this should be posted here but Ive been switching around with all the builds and I have found that with all the builds if I disable auto rotation in system setting I do not get the touchscreen issues ever and Ive been running them for like 3 plus days with heavy texting. However, when I turn it on I get occasional freezing. Just putting this out there so others can try it and see if it works for them too.
Interesting, I've seen other people reporting similar things, going to try it! Thanks!
What is the fix?

Maybe its a rom and build combo plus the auto rotate that makes it work similar to the robot voice
Wow, this one actually worked for me! My screen had stopped registering fast swipes, but I checked this off and now it is! It's even working when I put auto-rotate back on. (It'll probably crap out again, but we'll see).
EDIT: I just noticed that this is the HD2 board :O I have a Sensation. It still worked though. Thanks!

Slider unlock sometimes doesn't work with incoming call

Once in a while when trying to answer an incoming call the unlock slider won't respond. I will slide my thumb to unlock and ...nothing. When this happens the call will just go to voicemail . The workaround is to touch the power button to turn off screen , then touch it again to wake it up ,then the slider will work and I can answer the call. Sometimes this takes too long and I miss the call.
This is not a deal-breaker as it only happens 5% of the time , still it is annoying. I have tried different roms with no real difference. Anybody else have this problem? Any advice other than get a new phone under warranty?
Ditto. And I always act as you did to work around the issue, only difference is, I haven't missed a call due to this.
In any case, based on experience, the chance of this happening could be minimized (if not eliminated) by always locking the phone from the "desktop" (e.g. do not lock the phone when an app is running).
BACK STORY:
I remember this happening (more than once) when someone called me up after a train ride. And the last thing I could recall is that I have locked the phone while playing Angry Birds / Fruit Ninja / Zenonia 2, etc.
But it still sucks that it happens.
I guess my real question is , are all Nexus s doing this sporadically , even rarely , or is my phone defective?
question... are the phones plugged in to a wall charger when this happens?
Nope. Only happened to me when I under clocked the CPU with Setcpu using the powersave profile (I was just testing things out).

I'm not sure if everyone's having this, but I'm with you on this. I'm on stock but rooted 2.3.3. Experienced this since 2.3.1.
EDIT: My wife has this problem too, since 2.3.1 until 2.3.3 (not rooted).

Mine did it stock , I rooted and loaded roms to see if that would fix the problem , lessened but still there
My nexus s (i9020T) has exactly the same problem. I've also tried to flash different ROMs, including CM-7rc2 and stock 2.3.3, and the problem remains.
I tried to bind Multi-touch Visualizer 2 to long pressing home button, and found the when screen is unresponsive, it can still detect press near edges very well, but not the center. While I press at the edge and drap across the center, it keeps tracking my finger correctly. In addition, Locking and unlocking the screen can solve the problem temporally. I connect my phone with adb, and tried to "cat /dev/input/event0" The behavior confirms what I see in Multitouch Visualizor 2: the when the center of screen is unresponsive, nothing can be read from the device node.
I read the mxt224 touch screen controller doc, and it seems the chip features self-calibration, and thus I believe the "lock & unlock" will trigger the chip to tune it self in some way. I've also read the driver code of nexus s, htc incredible and moto droid x, all using the same controlling chip. Both HTC and moto would send calibrate command to the chip during resume, but sumsang does not. I guess this might be the reason, but I'm not skilled enough to port the drivers
I experienced it twice so far i think, but only have the device for a little more than 2 weeks.
I am on stock 2.3.1 currently.
Beside the lock&unlock method, I discovered a new way of getting screen back to work: rub your hands a couple of times and touch again... Anyway it seem the screen is not well calibrated.
problem seems fixed with my customized kernel
Last night, I modified the touchscreen driver and mach settings a bit on the source of netarchy's nice kernel, and compiled a kernel of my own. The screen now seems working well with my new kernel
Never have experienced this on the nscollab rom which is cm7 and kernel together stable. I suggest give it a shot

I would like to bring this issue up again (after so long) as I am still randomly experiencing this exact issue even with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 (Stock & Custom ROMs). Any fix yet?

[Q] Random Touch Screen Issues

hey guys, I´ve been having some strange behavior on my M2 lately, everything was normal till last week but now the phone started registering random inputs on all over the screen... its like I am touching the screen madly... I´ve already tried flashing the retail brazil SBF and everything still the same... I can´t even answer the phone straight!!!
any ideas? maybe my digitizer has gone crazy...
Take a look at this vid. It's mine. It is happening when i'm scrolling fast. I think I will send it to a service.
I get this when my phone is on the lockscreen connected to my pc.

this happened to me a few times before. once was when i typed a really long email using my keyboard. when i shut the qwerty it started behaving crazy. a few other times was also after i used the keyboard.
then i realized something in common. the problem only occurred when i had 'words' running in the background. i uninstalled 'words' and i have never had the problem since
perhaps u have a really buggy software. try uninstalling one of ur buggy softwares and u would be grand.
if u cant locate the buggy software, turn off the screen (short press of power button), turn it on again, and unlock, and things should be back to normal
well... it look like I gonna have to send it to service too... I´ve already wiped it clean... I´ve done a clean flash of the brazil retail SBF and everything is the same... random issues all over... bad luck right?
thanks for the support guys!
I have not experienced this problem...maybe because I'm running stock ROM?

FroyoBread v12 - My problems

i have a lots of problem since i updated it to v11 and v12.. but most of it is on v12..
Problems:
apps:
* Astro File manager - Astro's app backup is not working properly. especialy those apps that in SD ( I think). also, the astro operates very different on FroyoBread now. i have troubles in exploring files, especialy when pressing back key.
* handcent - since i update my x8 to v12, in Conversation list, subjects does not appear anymore... i also have a problem with the LED Flash Frequency, i need it to flash fast., but the ROM settings makes it blink slower, even i set it to FAST... then, when i play Asphalt 5 HD, and there's an incoming message, my phone ask to force close the Game, even when i uninstalled the handcent... it also ask to force close the game even when i didn't opened it at all. but i don't know if it only happens in this rom.
ROM:
* Proximity sensor - when calling, the sensor works fine, but even the screen turns off, the end button is still functioning. i mean, what was the proximity sensor are for? it disables the screen so, it won't accidentally end the call when it touch our skin or some **** like that. .. i know that you guys know that.. i wanna be like you someday.. hehe..
* X8gesture - does the X8Gesture v007 included in this rom? i also tried it, followed the instructions,.. but still, i can't get multitouch.(not a real multitouch)
hmmmm.. i think, i forgot some of my problems..
anyway, tnx For the rom doixanh..!
Edit: no more problems with these things..
Use an another file explorer - Try ES file explorer.
I assume that you use backup to return your apks. Try reinstall. Try use GO sms pro instead Handcent.
Prox sensor work just fine, and about x8 gesture - it works just fine... maybe you got cypress?
I use Adao File Manager, i also tried using Astro but never tried to use backup/restore feature
I dont use 3rd party message app
I dont have problem with proximity sensor, i tried to touch while screen is off, and it is locked as it is supposed to be
X8 gesture works fine with me, maybe you got a cypress digitizer
than only problem that i encounter in this rom is that, sometimes when i play chuzzle it lags very bad or it will exit itself, need to reboot the phone to play that game, after that it will be fine
Oh.. ok.
When i call, i just lock the screen, so i wont accidentally end the call.
But proximity sensor doesn't work..
Yep, cypress.. what about it?..
What is cypress?

There are two kinds of digitizers in X8's, one is from synaptic and one is from cypress. The X8gesture is Syanptics only, so if you have cypress you're out of luck. If you still don't know what I'm talking about just think of it as two kinds of screens.

It's the game that's bugged. I had the exact same problem with asphalt and all the roms I used (including stock 2.1).
Edit: Also use Root explorer, it is WAY better than Astro.
I have no gaming issues. however i felt v12 is slower than v11 and had more FCs. so came back to v11.
My issue.
Phone.apk wont notify when a call is waiting by the other party.
cannot connect to WiFi N routers. i had to set my router work in B/G only to get wifi work
still this is a awesome ROM. and very fast
i can't get mp4 video recording
I dont experience any of this guys. This Rom works like a charm to me..
Tryfull wipe. just back up data. Messages use sms back up and just save ur apks then intall all your apps again
i have the proximity problem too
just that in my case the screen just doesn't go off
almost every call i accidentally mute or put on hold somebody
furthermore, alarm goes off randomly after pressing "dismiss"
for example, i have an alarm that goes on every day at 18.15 besides sunday.
today, i pressed dismiss (*100% not snooze*) and at about 21:46 it went on again (same alarm label)
I dont have any of the problem that occur from others member...everything works great on my phone..but one thing that is pissing me is that i have battery drain issue on floyobread v12 from dx..dunno if is my phone prob or the ROM have some bugs or ram leaking...
thus anybody have USB mount issue?
i can't browse my sd card through USB on my phone..
maybe because there's a lot of pass on my SD?
is this problem also happened to a normal Froyo or in other roms with app2sd?
or just the froyobread?
Only problem I am having with v12 is that the phone won't charge via PC. Sometimes it will charge but most of the time it won't.
I've already tried full and battery wipes, none worked.
Anyone having the same issue?
for me wifi doesnt work on any froyobread rom
Wifi works ok, but bug seems to be when someone calls you screen stays off for 3-4 seconds and after that period shows up whos calling.
About not charging, try to delete sony ericsson usb driver under device manager under usb devices

[Q] Touch screen not responding that well

Hi!
With my HTC HD2, whenever I try to, for instance, type a message, the keyboard on my HD2 barely reacts or hits the wrong key. Installing a swype-like keyboard like TouchPal may solve this but for some apps like games this may get an issue later on.
I'm running tytung's NexusHD2 v2.3-HWA, which runs fine (thanks!). Just this issue.
No idea if this also occurs in WM6.5, but not going to switch back just to check that
How can this be fixed?
Aside from that, is there any way to speed up the ROM? It's fast enough as of now but speed is always useful
Thanks!
Was am issue with my ROM, flashed another one and now it works fine!
Sent from my HD2 using xda app-developers app
Try disabling the keypress vibration or sound when typing. It helps ALOT for me.
same problem for me
i had the same issue with ROM,after flashing to another one it works great
In the future, just run a ROM from SD and see if that changes things, that way you don't lose your current ROM.
But yeah glad you fixed it
From an SD card it's even worse, lmao

Most likely you won't be able to fix this(unless you replace digitizer, but it's not 100% solution!).
Sometimes, it's true very rarely, some HD2 hardware is not fully compatible with android(more often touchscreen function related!), but could be fully working on WM.
Even it seems a bit hassle, you should flash a WM and see what happens!
Thanks for your reply.
It works fine now, so I am not going to fiddle around anymore
