Sorry for bothering, but I haven't been able to find this particular issue, or at least this issue being referred to somewhere on the site.
I have an HTC Incredible on Verizon and have the 2.3.4 4.06.605.3 update applied. It was causing me a number of issues, so used Scotty1223's thread to back it down and gain root and S-Off on the phone. I played around with a couple of ROMs, but when they came out with this new update I wanted to get back to stock.
I restored my initial nandroid backup on the system thinking that would be enough. The update did not take on the phone. I saw that you have to have the stock recovery so I went to pvillecomp.com and put the stock HTC recovery back on the phone. So it is now running with Stock Recovery & the original 2.3.4 4.06.605.3 software on it. FYI, the Radio that appears to be on it, is Baseband version: 2.15.00.07.28 which is where my S-Off is if memory servers so I haven't messed with it yet, and don't know if that is my issue. I don't have the ability to do a screen shot with this software, but will happily provide any additional information that might be requested.
Ok. when I attempt to apply the new patch it reboots the machine, I get the green progress bar, and it goes maybe 1/3 of the way across then I get the Recovery screen. By hitting the Volume Up + Power I get the recovery information which says:

You will need to do an ruu to 4.06.605.3 as a PB31IMG.zip thru hboot. Then boot the phone and it should prompt you to update to 4.08.605.2
Or you could just put clockwork recovery back on the phone and flash Wildstangs stock ota 4.08.605.2 rom found in the dev section. It is compleete stock except for being rooted and deodexed.
Thanks, that is what I was afraid I was going to be told. I was hoping not to have to rebuild everything to get a nice solid backup.
I appreciate the information.

Hello,
For the third time in one month, my G1 device hangs on the boot screen.
I've send the phone to tmobile two times and they fixed it.
When it comes back, it has firmware 1.5 CRB43.
But now the problem:
After a while, the phone comes up with an notice that a download is ready
(1.6), i choose install, the phone reboots a few times and then gets stuck on the boot screen. I don't know how to fix this or what is causing this problem.
I never rooted the phone, just using the official OTA updates.
I just don't understand why the official OTA 1.6 update is causing this to my official Tmobile G1 phone (bought in the shop).
Anybody who has an idea to get my phone to work again?
I can acces the recovery mode, but reset doesn't fix the problem.
You would have been better off getting cyan rom if you have root, since ota 1.6 is laggy like hell.

try manually flashing the OTA. you can download the update from here
http://getyourdroidon.com/builds/ota/signed-kila-DRC83-from-CRC1.c41b93c1.zip
rename it to update.zip and place it on the root of your SDcard
boot up your phone holding Home+Power
Press Alt+L
Press Alt+S
(it should say something about updating)
your phone should reboot automatically
pm if you need anymore help/clarification
@B-man007,
Okay, i've tried the file you said.
It says (in this order):
Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
Installing update
Installation aborted
So it doesn't install that file, really quick after the installing update the screen flashes and it says installation aborted.
I have an dutch (european) phone, your file looks like an usa update.
I also tried an EU version, but it gives the same error.
The problem is, i don't know which firmware version is on the phone right now.. I guess something between CRB43 and DRC92. Or maybe it has no firmware at all because it just hangs on the opening screen.
@Ace42, i don't have root, never had. Just using official OTA updates.

I've tried that website, but it's not working in my case.
Trying to install the original SPL gives an error (no signature files found).
I also can't install the Original DreaIMG.nbh file, it keeps saying:
00028002 not allow in bootloader.
I have a prejudice google nexus original one I tried vodafone EPF30
since the OTA update did not come to the nexus is one of Frøya
by check in the code or through manual update, but there was
nothing to do the upgrade in both cases is not aborted
I understand why.
through check-in download the update occurs smoothly,
but when it goes to install the toolbar update stops in the middle '
appears and the android with the triangle and exclamation point and then nothing
more.
however, if you carry some manual dell'update the error
shows:

Rename to passing.zip and load via bootloader. I dunno what derivative that one is, I assume the US one though.
Thank you I know because my Vodafone N1 and 'Italian works even if the steps on my device.
I remind you that my one and nexus' original mounts as the build EPF30.
Thank you

If you have rooted, then tried to un-root the phone and get the above error there is an easy Hardwire upgrade option without having to RSD to a lower firmware, then updating. If your OTA/SD card option doesnt work, go to the following Moto site to hardwire update. It takes about 25 minutes, but will work easily.

I was getting the same error when trying to update. After I went in and 'defrosted' everything - my unlocked Atrix updated without a problem.

by hardware do you mean via the SD card or the hard wire cable? You wanted to use the "Automated Update".
Before i get to the point of this thread here's some useful information you may want to know:
- I have a Nexus 7 3g (Tilapia) Device
- Bootloader is UNLOCKED
- Im ROOTED
- Im Running Stock Rom with Custom Kernel ( m-motley kernel (a36))
- I have Beats Audio Driver *root Installed - (I think this is the Problem But am not sure)
Ok so im trying to update my nexus 7 3g from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2. When i try flashing the official update zip using CWM v.6.0.2.3 i get an error during the installation saying:

So can anyone help me?

Yes.
You can help yourself.
Search for "Status 7" in this forum. Plenty of recent reports and solutions offered to the endless parade of people that think that OTAs are meant for updating customized (non-Stock) devices.
Bottom line is that the beginning of the trouble is listed in the very error message that you reported - that sometime between the time you rooted and now,
/system/lib/libSR_AudioIn.so
got modified or removed.
Note that there is NOT a single "Status 7" problem - there are hundreds of files (and the boot or "kernel" partition too!) which are checked for correctness before the OTA begins. If the OTA finds a problem with any of them, it bails out without having touched a single thing in your modified ROM. That also means that there could be more problems with your ROM (including use of a custom kernel) which will cause the OTA to fault out until they are corrected.
Anyhow, vast amounts of hot air have already been expended on this - use the forum's search feature, and start reading.
I am unrooted running a stock B180 right now on my PLK-L01 Honor 7 device. I have over the past few months waited for Marshmallow 6.0 Upgrade as it was promised that it would come over OTA the start of this year. Though it hasn't so I decided to manually upgrade the software so I downloaded the latest full version firmware of B320-330 from the hihonor UK website. The software installation goes fine up until 60% then suddenly I get an error message saying "software failed". Why am I getting this error message when the firmware is correct? I am located in Sweden and the closest region to mine is UK so therefore I got on their website and downloaded this firmware. There is only 1 firmware that applies to the Europe region because there is no firmware that's particularly for Sweden itself.
Funny thing is even though I get an error message "software failed" the device still reboots and the Android v.6 works perfectly. If it does not install properly, marshmallow shouldn't even be working! Guys what could be wrong please help! I want to do a clean installation without any error message.

this is normal!
Now you can redo the update process with pressing vol+ & vol- & power button for more than 3 sec.
After than the update process starts again! This time it should be finished with 100%.
Thanks for your reply,
Really? That's strange. This is the first time I am to believe that even after an error message something works just as good. So just after the error message shows up I need to press vol+,- and power button at the same time so it will resume. Didn't know that. Instead what I did was I did a rollback to B300 and then updated to B330 this way I didn't get any error message. Very cumbersome.
If you are on B330 now, you should know this code too: *#*#2846579#*#*
If you enter this code, you will see a new service menu! This you need to manual update in the next future!
To manual update, you have to copy the update.zip into folder "dload" at your ext.sd.
After than, you use menu point 4 to have the possibility to start the update process manuay.
So don't forget this code.
Yes I know that code but honestly it doesn't matter whether you use that code or do a forced upgrade it still results in error message. Yes I did exactly as you are saying even before your message that's how I did it.
A question I have to you. If sometime later I regret and wanna go back to b180 can I do so and still get the marshmallow update OTA? Like going back to the stock b180 software which I had earlier or before I did any manual upgrade at all.

this should be possible. -> Rollback B300 -> reboot -> now you are on B300! -> Update B180 Full rom from the Honor page -> reboot.
If all is going right, you are back on B180.
During the rollback, all datas will be erased! So make a backup at first!!!
See my signature point 1 & 2!!!
BTW: I think there is no difference between the manual or OTA update becaus e it is nearls the same procedure and it has the same file.
Maybe it is possible to extract the B330 update.app with honrorextractor. Than you have to flash most of the extracted files with fastboot.
(Boot; Recovery2; Recovery; System; Data; Modem; Cust; *.img files)
After the next reboot (fingers crossed!) the update procedure should finished without errors.
Yes that's the way I had imagined it to be, doing a rollback to B300 and then downgrade to B180 however will this be the official stock firmware? What is signature point 1 & 2, I don't understand?
Also, where can I get the honorextractor from? Never heard of it besides flashing and fastboot all refers to when the device is rooted and mine is not. I am familiar with these terms as my previous phone was rooted so. I don't understand this boot, recovery, data ,modem, cust part etc its very confusing
