[Q] power widget - Acer Iconia A500

Hi! I installed "Power Widget" app on my Acer Iconia A500 but apparently it doesn't work. Does anyone have experience with "Power Widget" on A500? Does it work on A500? If not, is there any other good similar apps that will work on A500? The reason I need this app is to disable G2/G3.
I am going to take a long international trip and the battery life could be an issue. Is there any external (backup) battery pack/charger available in the market?
Thanks for the help.

Theres pleanty of apps similar to this one. Extended Cotrols is one I know of the top off my head. Just search the market and use trial and error.

GPS notification icon in taskbar

Hi,
After searching for days i'm giving up. Please help ?
What i want:
I wanna have a notification icon in the taskbar, just like the BT-icon:
"if GPS is active then show GPS-icon".
I understand that the trick is to monitor the use of the GPS Intermediate Driver. Who can and will help?
Thnx!
I hate to kick this, but please, can anyone of the developers enlighten me?
I'm gonna join the bandwagon for this, I would also like this feature.

Thnx! I hope more will join us, and more will dive in to this to actually get a solution
That's one of the things I'm missing!
Or maybe flash the notification light swiftly 3 times every 10 seconds to symbolize GPS activity.. My previous phone had such led and it was great to actually be able to see what's happening, or that what should happen actually does happen.
I still want this! Is there any developer....?
I want it to
I found it here. It worked on my Topaz but it would be nice if the icon is a satelite instead of just a red/yellow/green dots
I have contacted the author and hope he responds
Hello everyone.
I too needed an application like this and since I had no luck finding one on the market, I decided to write the app myself. You can find on the market by the name GPS Monitor Free by Illyrium. What the app does - it activates itself as soon as GPS is in use and deactivates when GPS is no longer in use. While GPS is in use, the app shows a notification icon with the satellites in view. For the moment this is all that the app does, but I am working to add some other features to it.
The app is free for the moment - and will be free (even the pro version) for everyone that helps me by sending me bugs/features.
If you have any ideas, you are more than welcome to pass them to me an I will try to implement them as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Adrian

[Req] Autostart App on USB connect

Hi
I'm looking for an app that autostart my Deskclock app when i connect my desire to usb especially when i put it into my dock!
is there a possible solution for this?
bumb
does no one know of an app that can change a profile or do a Dock connect when i plug in the power ?
I'll bump this, too.
This is something I've wanted for a while, too. I did a quick search on Cyrket and all I see are low rated apps that somehow need location & internet permissions, etc...No thanks. Not for a desk clock when I plug the phone in. Anybody else solve this yet?
one thing it should support the mcr r5 froyo sense rom
download setting profiles. It can tell between ac power and usb power. So in my dock it launches the desk clock, and in the car it launches the navipanel
I personally use "Tasker" (available in the Market), and it is SUPERB! It's a configurator/tweakers dream. So many possible combinations for what you may want, and the UI is great once you get the hang of each of the elements (read the help first!!).
It's about $3-4, but WELL worth it. You'll probably end up finding so many other ways to have your Android manage its self without any interaction by you (Tasker is basically a much cheaper, more powerful app like Locale).
Hope that helps!
for such tasks i'm using the app 'locale' incl. plugins. i've never found any better solution to control your device ...

the problem with locale is that it costs 10$ dollar and most of the plugins cost too
thanks for the apps i'll try them out
There is such an app for free floating around this forum. Don't ask me where it is 'cause i can't remember but a few moths ago somebody was asking about this and somebody wrote and app that put the phone into clock mode when it was docked, and it came with an app icon that turned the functionality on and off.
I downloaded it and it worked perfectly.
Hunt around here 'cause it was definately in the apps section of the desire forum!!

[Q] remove Cell standby

On the Nook in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888216
user xboxexpert managed to unload the phone tools on the nook and stop the nook from searching for a cell network. Since a few of us are off contract, I'd love to be able to do the same on my Tab. So I tried the same, renaming the files. It didn't work. The Tab ended up in an infinite loop of trying to restart the phone when phone.apk no longer existed. I didn't dare try restarting after renaming it when it was all I could do to get the Tab stable again without infinite app crashes slowing it down.
I like to use a bluetooth keyboard at work and airplane mode disables bluetooth, so no deal there. So does anyone have an idea on how we can disable the wireless network without being in Airplane mode?
I have the same question.... I want to use my tab Wifi only... anyone find a solution?
You can switch WiFi ob when in airplane mode.
Regards,
Dave
is there a permanent solution for it?
You can go into Phone Info via *#*#4636#*#* (or create an Anycut shortcut to Phone Info, under Activites) and switch the radio off there at the bottom of the page.

I suppose if I really want to do this then I need to get the dialer working? It seems kind of roundabout, I'm trying to disable the mobile network and phone options, but in order to do that I need to make it more like a phone first? I say that because I tried Anycut and under Activities there was no "Phone Info" activity. Thanks for the thought Hairy.
This is on a stock rooted T-mobile Tab, that I'm not planning to flash just yet. Maybe when Cyanogen is in a later beta. I'm just not that deep into hacking my devices, and while I appreciate people that do I just have other priorities.

Must be a ROM issue as I'm on JM6 and the Phone Info option is there on Anycut. I went through this myself for the same reasons, so good luck
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
i am also in perma-airplane at home and just having wifi or bluetooth enabled.
works perfectly

Rather presumptuous of you to assume that? You can use Bluetooth too (at least on the ROMs I've used)

Screenshots in honeycomb?

Hello everyone,
Is there any sort of key combinations to take screenshots in honeycom without installing apps like previous galaxy tab version?
I found some screenshot apps in market, but they need root previleges.
This is applicable to the Asus Transformer, so it might work with the Samsung:

Regards,
Dave
Thank you, Dave.
Unfortunatly that option is not available in the Android 3.0.1 bundled in 10.1v.
You can also use my app - its in the signature
Screen Shot It works great.
Erm if I,m not, mistaken this is simple and part of Honeycomb?!

Nope, that's part of TouchWiz.
If you prefer to use a stock ROM, you need a separate app.

[Q] trojan?

My A500 seems to be infected with something. Every google search done from the default search on the tablet goes to some creepy website supposedly about jokes. I'm hoping someone here can help me fix it. I have anti virus running but it didn't catch this.
I'm not tech savvy, and my tablet is not rooted. Thx for any help!
Do you have a windows based tablet?

It's not a virus. You probably installed an app that changed the settings for your search.
Open your search, then select the "settings" in the upper right corner. You can adjust your defaults search settings from there. Also might just see the app that changed it as well
Sorry. I thought the "A" in A500 indicated an Android tablet. It is Android, not Windows.
Funny...the concept of buying a Windows tablet is so unthinkable to me that it never occurred to me to consider that someone would think it was other than Android. LOL
THANK YOU Moscow Desire! That's exactly what it was. Now to find the offending app....grrrrrr. I didn't see anything in the settings to clue me in to what app did this nefarious act. I will find out though...and post a "review" on the Market.
Thanks again!

Great!
Another thing you might try if you see some strange apps suddenly appear, or you get strange notifications, is go to the Market and install an "air push detector" app. Not neccessary to run it all the time, but on occassion.
Thanks for the tip! I will do that now. Still haven't found the offending app. Nasty little buggers.

Have you installed lookout or avast to see if it could detect it?

Avast did not catch it. I use Avast on my desktop and my tablet. In any case, the problem is gone now that I fixed the search settings. Thanks!
Use AirPush Detector from market. It's free, light and looks for apps that for example put ads on your lower bar (the one with clock, wifi icon etc).

Yep...have done that. Thanks!
My Comment is late in this thread.. And im sure you have it resolved..
But here is what i do to catch crap..
go to the market get advanced task manager app. Its tiny app and can be turned off to not Run in the background.. Once you do that it will not take up cpu or memory .
once in a while start it up and look at the apps that are running in the background. In the apps settings you can tell it to auto kill certain apps. This feature can be good to trouble shoot and find apps that have evil programming attached to it.
I will add be careful what you kill with it. If you open a app like the above and keep killing or set apps that you DO USE to be killed you will be fighting the built in management in android. IF Apps are in there that you know your running. If those apps you are sure is not the issue . DO NOT KILL Them they are just setting static for the most part. Killing them will cause cpu spikes as they will just come right back . Use the above mentioned app ONLY AS A TOOL To find rogue apps. not as memory manager app. Android does a great job with doing that if the apps will play by the rules..
Just wanted to add this to the other GREAT Replies you received in this thread. I believe most of the others who have applied use this or a similar app to week at ROGUE APPS.
Good Luck..
Thanks erica_renee...I'll take a look at it. If it's too complicated though, I probably won't be able to figure out how to use it. LOL Many of these apps have no instructions. The devs assume we all know how to figure them out. Not so true. I see "reviews" all the time from people asking how to use these things.
