Firmware combinations - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi guys,
anybady know, what if i flash an old modem and the newest PDA, JVT for example.
I flashed JVT.JVT.JVT; CSC was for EU. But i've got a problem with the modem, somtimes nobody couldn't call me and i sometimes couldn't call too.
Now i've flashed back the stock rom wich has CSC = DBT.
Can I only flash JVT in PDA, but modem and CSC leave untouched?
Sorry for my english

you could.
But I suggest you flash JVT as PDA and the modem and CSC files of your choice at the same time.
That's what I did... JVR as PDA, KG3 as radio and CSC and it works perfectly fine here in Canada

thank you guys i will try it!

Try different combinations, but be careful, don't play with csc's

as long as csc contains your country data it is safe - so if it contains your sales code
only the blootware from it could fail to work sometimes if it has odex pair file, but that should not affect the overall phone performance
same with modem as long it is from firmware that were ment to support your country it is ok (so if it was in package with css for your region)
but well known fact is that hongkong modem is working well for eu users and so on - just do not use modems from other devices
also note that if youre on 3g and using connection you can not be called

Hi everybody,
I also have a question about firmware and hope that somebody could help me...
A few days ago bought gs with
firmware: 2.2.1
baseband: i9000xxjpy
kernel: 2.6.32.9
[email protected]#1
build: froyo.xwjs8
i was wondering can any 2.3.4 firmware can go, or i have to find a specific version... besides firmware is something else required to be updated?
tried to update through kies but is says that this is the latest version...
sorry for speling...

KE7 flash

Hello all,
I am from Slovakia and bought Galaxy S2. My firmware says GINGERBREAD.XWKE2 I9100XXKDJ.
I would like to flash it with KE7 but its not official via Kies in my country. If i do that via ODIN, which version to choose? Is there a big chance to brick my phone?
Thanks

Very very small chance that gets bigger if you do not follow instructions .

Hey guys, sorry for bothering.
I already looked for entries from german users regarding the ke7 flash thing, but didn't find any helpful?! Also i'm below 10 posts so couldn't start a post within the ke... thread.
I'm a noob and confused with the several version available. I already recognized the different csc for language regions, but i'm not sure which one is the newest or correct one for a german sgs2.
May anyone please help me? thanks in advance.
I'm currently on
PDA XWKE2
PHONE XXKDJ
CSC XXKE2
OK, thanks for the info..
So i can flash generic XEU for KE7. If something goes wrong can i revert back to stock rom KE2? Also, what about the region things? Will they remain the same as in KE2?
Ke2 KE4 KE7 KE8 and now KF1
CSC you just want one that includes your area that is XEU = Europe .
listed .

Or check dev section for latest or wait for your official upgrade via Kies .

I9505 lte annoying shutdowns

Hi Xda.. im following you for 3 different devices (gs3, xperia z, and now gs4).
i ve a problem with my s4.. originally it was a branded h3g (im italian) i9505 so i decided to make it no brand..
so, installed the phil touch recovery i choose the "android revolution hd 3.0" based on xxubmga firmware + wifi fix..
at this point my s4 begins to shut down suddenly during use.. always when the % battery is at 69% or lowest..
I realized that the baseband remained I9505XXUBMEA that of my old branded firmware (h3g - PDA I9505XXUBMEA CSC I9505HUIBME3 MODEM I9505XXUBMEA)
so i installed with odin the modem of xxubmga of android revolution hd 3.0 but the problem is not solved.. it he shuts down unexpectedly.. when im using whatsapp.. chrome.. etc..
now i used the code *#1234# and i saw AP I9505XXUBMGA CP I9505XXUBMEA (so it s not changed also after odin's replacement modem process) CSC I9505OXXBMG4
how can i fix this problem of shutdown? is a battery problem? or rom problem?
thank you.. and excuse me for my bad english
Check if there is any lump on the battery or you can try a friend's battery if he/she has an s4.

You're from Italy? What's your original CSC? If you change the baseband and the build, your CSC needs to be the same as the original because the CSC handles the communications with the operators. It won't work otherwise.
Now I don't know why that would cause shutdowns. Try changing your CSC. And then try a different battery.

Change battery as the first thing. Also you need to make sure that your Modem is same as the base, so flash a ME3 modem.

[Q] Custom rom and phone/csc firmware

Question : is the CSC / Phone firmware independent from the ROM?
For example, my phone says: Broadband Version = N9005XXUBMJ1
Can I flash N9005XXUBMJ3 over that using Odin's PHONE and CSC buttons?
Or should I wait until a new Omega ROM version includes the new phone and csc firmware?
My phone is a Note 3 (N9005) running Omega 2.3

In Odin you can flash 4 different things:
- bootloader
- pda
- phone
- csc
My question is if you can flash these independently, or if each has to be attuned to the other. For example would it hurt to patch "phone" and "csc" from XXUMBJ3 over Omega ROM 3.1 (which comes with XXUMBJ1)
If that's a confusing question, please let me know how I can improve the question.

[Q] Which region?

Hello,
I'm a little confused about which region SM-N9005 I have.
In phone settings -> about device it shows:
Model number: SM-N9005
Baseband version: N9005XXUBMI5
Build number: JSS15J.N9005ZHUBMI7
In Kies,
Current firmware version: PDA:MI7 PHONE:MI5 CSC:MI7 (TGY)
Latest firmware version: PDA:MJ8 PHONE:MJ4 CSC:MJ8 (TGY)
After a little research I have found out that TGY is the region code for Hong Kong, and the Build number seems to verify this.
But what about Baseband version? Doesn't XX mean European region?
I bought this phone on eBay. So its quite possible someone fiddled with it to make it work here (BTW I'm in UK).
Can anyone shed any light, before I flash the wrong region firmware via ODIN and brick my phone?
Also I have CF-Auto-Rooted (Thanks Chainfire), which is why I'm not updating through Kies.
Thanks to all in advance,
Jason

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, but I'm still unsure which Region firmware I need to flash. (I'm talking about stock firmware here).
If I flash The Hong Kong firmware, will my phone still work here in the UK? Will it change my phone language to Chinese?
I understand flashing the wrong region for your device could result in a brick. Is this correct?
I really would like a definitive answer before I do something stupid.
Thanks all
Update
Just a quick update..
I read through the entire CF-Auto-Root thread (50 pages!). A couple of posts mentioned that I could update through Kies if I first factory reset my phone.
I did so, and the update succeeded! I then proceeded to CF-Auto-Root again, to regain root access. Joy!
Now my 'About device' screen looks like this:
Baseband version: N9005ZHUDMJ4
Build number: JSS15J.N9005ZHUDMJ8
A couple of questions.
The baseband version is not correct for my region (UK, Europe (XX))
Will this have adverse effects on my connection to networks?
Is it possible to flash only the correct baseband? If so, how?
Thank you all for taking time to help me

Ok go to www.sammobile.com get firmware and download odin 3.09 and flash but don't know if uk firmware will work, if you're phone is working and you got signal don't worry about it just stay how you are

How to update the baseband???

The baseband of my Note 3 is at NB1. After that firmware, I installed some new original firmwares and the latest UK NF4, but my baseband is always the same.
How can I update my baseband?
Google maybe ?

There's quite a number of thread for similar question. You should try to search first.
but anyway, you could just pull out the modem.bin from that firmware, and flash it under CP at ODIN.
I have searched in all the forum, and try'd all the solutions presented, but my baseband don't change, is always the same.
I think it has to do with the bootloader, because mine is at NB4, the baseband if at NB1and all the rest is at NF4.
