Hi
I have a acer iconia a500 and i was trying to flash a rom using the acer recovery installer, i have dont this about 10 times but this time when i booted into the recovery kernal then wiped the chache and the dalvick cache and the battery stats then installed minimalist 3.1 it installed then i rebooted and it did not have the launcher and all my apps where still there. How can i fix this i have tried other roms same thing i need help fixing this
Not only wipe cache user data.i format partitions as well. Reboot back into car.and wipe cache again after flashing rom before booting into it first time.there is a thread about this
+1 to erica
You need to do a *full* wipe before flashing a new ROM.
if i do a full wipe will i loose all my data ie music etc also where is the thread about it?
If running it fro Acer recovery installer, just check the 'wipe data' checkbox. It won't erase your /data/media files. This is all I do when flashing a new rom. Have never had any issues.

Just flash the zip file through recovery. I did that, and i've my fone working like a charm so far.
But u can backup your app's data with Titanium, just in case your phone act funny after flashing the update. If it does act funny then u must wipe data/ factory reset, then install ur app back from Titanium.
As it is just an update zip, you dont need to wipe date/factory reset, it is however recommended that you wipe the dalvik cache. reboot your phone and everything should work fine.

hi
ok I upgraded to 10.2 successfully...
in titanium the ext4 partition on sd is shown...
I've read: For the HD2SD you need to delete Kyrillos App2SD script in init.d.
do I have to cancel that script?
I'm coming from 10.1 & Link2sd (wich was removed with the upgrade)
Please ask questions in rom-related Q&A threads.
Hi everybody! I have got a question, can I do only wipe cache & wipe dalvik cache when I pass from White rabbit(CM7 modified) to CM9?? Just to not installing all apps
Full wipe is recommended.
Definitely full wipe needed or else you will encounter some issues

Questions go in the Q&A section
As u are shifting major versions of CM u need to do a factory reset too.
1.Wipe data
2.Factory Reset(U ll loose everything. Except the SD card content)
3.Wipe Cache partition
Then flash the ROM.
It is recommanded in Defy update guide for CyanogenMod.
Hi,
I mean, When it can be usefull to Wipe Cache and/or Dalvik or I don't know.. ^^ for example after flashing a new nightly, if it can make the phone faster.
or when it's totaly useless to wipe something,
it would be very cool, thanks
Actually full wiping is only necessary while switching roms. And dalvik wipe when installing mods or kernel updates (quarx). You can actually do dalvik wipes without any bad consequences-Android just generates the cache again

Hi,
I had MIUI GB stable running on my defy and wanted to check out the latest CM10 build, so here is what i did...
1. Booted into Recovery and Cleared Cache/Dalvik Cache.
2. Created a back up of my existing ROM
3. Clean wiped my phone and installed CM10
But since i didnt like the CM10 build much i decided to go back to MIUI GB...but got stuck...
I Wiped Data/Cache but then when i tried to wipe the Dalvik Cache it simply did nothing...
And since then i am not able to wipe the Dalvik Cache and so m pretty much stuck with CM10 now...
Please help me wipe the Dalvik Cache....
Thanks
I am having the same problem. Did you ever figure out out?
