Thank the devs - EVO Shift 4G General

What's up with all the people saying the shift is dead and bashing roms. Its annoying give the devs time they have only had the GB source a few weeks and ICS source a few days, im sure the devs have a life other than just developing roms and posting on xda so give them a break.
Edit....This thread is to thank all the devs for their hard work show some android and xda love.
Thanks to all the devs for your hard work!!!

For some reason people think that dev'ing is a full time job and that devs get paid for it. They think that while they're at work making money, then coming home and taking care of their kids, oh, and don't forget about keeping the wifey happy, that devs should just be sitting in their free home using free internet making roms and themes for people all day.

How about we just switch the tone of the thread by thanking all the Devs out there who put in their time, work, talent, and effort. To provide us with Roms, Themes, and Mods,
THANK YOU to all the Devs out there

Agreed!
Thank you to everyone who works at making or phones better in any way. Devs. Themers and testers. There are plenty of us or there that truly do appreciate all the hard work and time you put into our little android world.

The Shift is far from death, I think it is only cause of the ICS euphoria right now..
I don't know why some people complain, I wonder what the Hell do they want their phones to do? lol...
I'm very grateful with all the help and support from these Shift forums, a lot of cool people and generous devs.
I wish my new phone had as much development going on as the shift lol.
Still love the shift and miss it as my daily ..

To all the haters, we still have new devs working for us. Just recently we have Fresh and Xplod roms. I for one wish I had the time to add something. If any devs want to tutor me I would love to give back for all I have received. Thanks again for the best phone yet

A Special thanks to all the Devs out there. . .

I just wanted to send a simple, humble thanks to all the Devs out there who spend countless (and manytimes thanksless) hours updating the Android OS's.
Without them most of us (if not all) would be stuck using the providers locked down and bloated OS -
thank you for all of your hard work
thank you for answering our many times ignorant questions
Thank you again -

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks yall!
Yes thank you guys. A new hobbie I've picked up that my wife hates....sweet life.

Indeed. I chose android solely because of the development community. I didn't just blindly grab any phone I could, I did a little research and knew it had to be android and it had to be HTC. And thanks to the support and quality that devs put into these devices I will be a dedicated HTC/android customer for as long as both exist.
A big thank you to everyone who puts in work, especially the cyanogenmod team.

BIG DITTO to this, exactly the reasons I came over to Android and in particular HTC.
I was completely unprepared for how much work has been put in by the devs and community - Bravo everyone and in particular the hard work of the modders!
To be honest... I bought this phone back in October bc it was NOT an iPhone which was very important to me. I didn't even know what android was. Now I'm addicted and my girlfriend hates my phone . Thank you so much devs for giving me a hobby. Idk that I can really be thankful enough for what y'all have done for me. My whole life really. I was just kind of wandering aimlessly before but not anymore!

Learning to be a dev takes a while because you need to develop skills that are necessary to code and such. Habits such as writing clean code and commenting out parts of code also need to be formed. I took an introductory comp. science course in college, but i haven't really practiced nor even attempted to look at developing for android as i know its a whole new world and i simply do not have the time to do it. But ladies and gentlemen, if you want to do it, nothing is stopping you, but just be sure that it is NOT easy and will take a couple of years or more until you are able to help with more than just bug testing unfortunately. And before anyone says that i am flaming or trolling, i am not, i am simply stating the truth and on top of that, I am in the same boat as you are, helpless to the devs. All I can do is donate some of my paycheck every now and then for exceptional work. I and we all owe it to these devs for making our phone work well and, as far as I'm concerned, they deserve it.
I would also love to help, but I just now started learning code on my "free" free time, its hard to remeber the format of the code, just that alone is a nightmare...
DOS was childs play compared to writing anything for android, I'm a pc guy, used to using windows UI or DOS back in the day when I was 14...

I'm definitely interested in some reading material.. while I can't help w/ coding and such (right now) I think it's a good time for me to get started reading and playing (on my device anyway)
I have tried MIUI
I honestly just dont care much for it it is built from its own source originally built in asia it is coded in I believe chinese and ported over to english and thus has been ported to different devices it was first ported to the og droid it is not built from aosp or any other android released source it is a ui built all its own.

Outrageous. Enough said.
KlugN said:
Recently one of the greatest developers for the Droid Incredible, NilsP, announced his resignation from developing some of the smoothest and most stable Inc ROMs ever seen because the XDA "higher ups" have rejected his application to be seen as a recognized developer.
Anyone who has ever used one of Nil's ROMs can attest to the fact that this is a huge blow to the development community.
I am hoping that with enough signitures, we can get NilsP recognized developer status, and that he will continue his amazing work for the community here at XDA.

Can't say that I've ever used one of his ROMs.
But what I can say is that he has a presence in the threads of other developers, and that, to this relatively noob, seems extremely knowledgeable and willing to help. I have seen his name in the list of credits of the various ROMs I have used.
What exactly is the XDA criterion for "developer" status, anyway?
So we have a dedicated developer / rom chef and XDA turns him down???
In my business field we call that sales prevention and bad practice. This is what XDA stands for at the core, individuals that step up an post great roms, mods, themes and apps, how does he not qualify?
I sincerely hope the "higher ups" reconsider because if they keep going this way we will not have any developers on XDA and thus there will be no more XDA. After all it is individuals like him that drive XDA.
+1 give him his deserved status. NilsP has helped me back on the old Omnia i910 days, (when XDA wouldn't allow the omnia on the forums because it was HTC exclusive forum, remember that, lol) and continues to contribute to the community. Thank you NilsP, we appreciate what you do for us, even if XDA doesn't!!
+1. His ROMS are solid.

Uhhh, no its not. Community Rom, Shooter Rewind, and also Newts Sensation Rom all have MMS over WiFi working. But back on topic yes Nils deserves to be recognized as a developer as much as any of them. He does awesome work.
+1 Nils
+1, any dev willing top put out great roms should be recognized
Bring him into the fold
NilsP should definitely be on the list of Recognized Developers. His ROMs, as mentioned everywhere in this thread, are some of the most stable out there.
+1 to add him.
I haven't personally used any of his roms, but he deserves to be a recognized developer for all the work he does.

I have left the Shift today. It has been passed on to my better half for her to enjoy.
Thanks to all of you that supported my themes, especially aamikam and prby1969.
Hope to see some of you on the ET4G forums or on the next device after that. I picked up this beast today.
This is a sad day . The Shift community will definately miss you. Thank you for all your work and help . Enjoy your new toy, but don't be a stranger .

Atrix 4G kernel appreciation thread

I felt I needed to put up this thread due to the confusion of what can and cannot be posted in the other kernel threads. I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the devs involved and the kernel testers. I am finally making use of the kernel thanks to epinters 10.1 ROM. Woah what a difference its like a new phone and still only alpha!!!! So to all the devs and the testers you are achieving things that I have seen go stagnant or fail on other projects for other platforms so many many many times. I hope this thread will help you all feel valued. This has to be one of the more hardcore coding projects and you are achieving milestones and a great rate. So if everyone would like to give thanks to those involved please use this thread so the devs will get the pats on the backs they deserve.
If a mod could add a complete list of the devs that would be great or if Kristian or epinter can send me a complete list I'll add it to the post, complete with their roles would be nice.
So once again your achievements truly are great may your success continue

Oh make no mistakes I'll will be making a donation, had I been working I would have already. I just think its important for the devs to read words of thanks, encouragement and praise for their efforts. I've posted in other threads before showing my admiration for what the devs have achieved only to have it deleted and my post I believed help give some idea to other users how difficult a task had been taken on. So please people if you feel the devs should receive a pat on the back then please post in this thread
