[Q] rooted my Note, now I'm seeing doubles! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi, this is probably a minor cosmestics problem but it's really bugging the hell out of me. I was wondering if anyone know what's up and how to fix it?
after I rooted my note, in the ringtone and notification selection menu I see everything is doubled up. I dug in using root explorer and I am pretty sure I only located ONE copy of the file.... does anyone know how to get rid of the duplicate files in the selection windows? much appreciated!

Did you do a full wipe from CWM recovery?

Have you restored system data with titanium backup?

Restoring backed up data with "Backup for Root Users" - it does not work!

Hi!
I've wiped everything from HTC hero, installed latest modaco custom rom (2.9) and all seems fast and fine.
Now I want to restore contacts, sms, and rest which I had backed up using the "Backup for Root Users" app. It does not work.
I tried both the old and the new version (=Backup). I know I have all the required sqlite .db files (I can even view them with other sqlite tools).
How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Finally it did work.
just for the record: next time would be helpfull to know why or how it did not work. this was more like: " my car does not start, but the gas tank is full. why?"
did you figure out what went wrong?
I would be very interested to know how you got this to work and why it was going wrong too.
When i tried to use it, i backed it up ok, could see all the required files on my SDcard, but when i went to restore, it didnt restore anything on my phone.
Can anbody tell me how i can use back up for root users to restore the back up.

Don't want lock sliders? No problem!

I wiped my system and when I got everything up and running I noticed that my phone wouldn't disable those pesky lock sliders. So what did I do? I restored my old settings using Titanium Backup. Now they're gone. This also got rid of my slide to answer function when receiving a call (bummer...), but I can live with it. If you don't want those sliders throw these files into your Titanium Backup folder on your SD card and restore it. Before you do, though, I'd recommend making a backup of your own files. There's no telling if there is a setting linked to just my phone. Please let me know if this works for you!
In Titanium Backup the item to restore is "Settings Storage 2.2"
Oh yeah, and one more thing. This isn't where your actual lock password/PIN/pattern is stored, so that won't be changed.
copying these files into the titanium directory will cause your titanium to not see any programs, backedup, not backed up, uninstalled, nothing. so i would not suggest this.

Gingerbread Help!

Hello all,
I just installed the gingerbread update for the droid x yesterday. I got to say I absolutely hate it! My music application doesn't seem to be working. My music files dont work at all. My phone doesn't run smoother whatsoever. I'm actually noticing a lot of lagging even when my phone is in maximum performance mode. On my texting app my keyboard doesnt work well. It also lags. I dont want to flash my phone but at the same time I want to go back to froyo. Is there anything I can do? If this isnt possible Id like to at least get my phone to work smoothly with GB. Any help would be greatly appreicated. Thanks in advance.
You can flash back to Froyo or you can try a factory reset on you GB config. I've seen some reports that it helps random issues experienced with the OTA GB.
I have the same symptoms. I don't really want to lose my application data, and I forgot to do a data backup before upgrading. Is there any application (like Titanium backup) that can save my settings without having root (unlike Titanium backup)? Is there any path for me that would preserve my app data? I have seen several postings that recommend SBF-ing back to Froyo and then using the rooted upgrade. If I follow this path, will I lose application data? It seems to me that the options are:
1) factory reset
2) SBF back to Froyo before updating with rooted Gingerbread
3) wait for root on OTA Gingerbread and do a Titanium backup
Option #1 is guaranteed to lose my data. Option #2 I'm not sure about. Option #3 is where I am now, and it's downright painful. My phone is barely functional at the moment.
Option 2 is option 1 taken a step further. If you don't wipe data, it may not boot. If all of your apps are from the market, they will just download again after it
I'm not worried about apps. I'm worried about the data. It will take forever to get three stars on every level of Angry Birds. It's not all about Angry Birds, but I think you get the idea. Does the data get backed up to Google as well? I don't think it would.
So, I have not gotten an answer to this. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can revert from the OTA update without losing my application data? For example, is there a way to mount the phone filesystem in Linux and copy the files?

Copy /data/data to your sdcard.

[Q] Best way to use (Titanium)Backup

Hey guys,
I am currently trying out some ROMs and for that I wanna know how to restore my apps/data the quickest way. Got TitaniumBackup Pro and I tried to create a update.zip with my wanted apps for which I don't want to backup the data manually but instantly when I startup the new ROM. But the .zip install failed in TWRP after I flashed the ROM and GApps. Or is the update.zip not what I want for that?
But even when I recover the backup for some apps, some of them still kinda need some extra work like LightFlow or SwiftKey and the Facebook Messenger App. For example some of them need notification settings changed etc. Is there any way to avoid doing that every time?
Also, I know there was some change in the backup directory from 4.2 to 4.3 in TB where you have to change to legacy or something but why do I still have to do that when switching between 4.3 ROMs? Or can I fix that by deleting all my backup and doing another backup so it will be in the new "right" directory?

Titanium Backup Fix

Hey all, just getting ready to update to a Latest rom, but can anyone tell me if there is a fix for Titanium backup. Anytime I go to do a batch back up it completely crashes the app when it gets to the selection screen of apps.
Looks like it has something to do with filters itself, because the app crashes if you click on them when navigating installed apps. Would rather not have to manually backup everything.
I know the issues stems from Android 5.1 as I had to restore manually when I first updated to it. Wasn't sure if there was a work around for match backups yet.
Any help would be much appreciated.
