Hey all... I just got my Fire units in today, and while there's an option in the settings to disable auto-correct/suggestions under the Kindle Keyboard settings, it has no effect on the browser keyboard. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere to do the same for the web browser? I like the suggestions but I don't want it to auto-correct as I'm typing...
i have the same issue, even when i turn off "quick fixes" and "auto-capitalization" in "kindle keyboard" option, it still suggests and auto-corrects my typed words, which annoys me so much.
anyone has solutions?

Just picked up 2 myTouch 3G Slide's and everything's great. I noticed something interesting though and am curious to know if this is a bug, or by design.
When I go to Settings > Language & keyboard -> Touch Input -> Text Input and uncheck 'Vibrate when typing' when placing a call the device continues to vibrate. Thinking maybe the Swype keyboard might have something to do with it I went back to Language & keyboard -> Swype but was unable to uncheck 'Vibrate on keypress'. The box is checked, it shows a light blue check vs a gray check, and the option altogether is grayed out.
To be sure I checked phone settings but found no other place where I could disable 'tactile feedback' for that menu/screen/app.
The device does not vibrate when typing in other screens (text messaging, browser etc). The ultimate desired result is for the device to not vibrate when typing unless we explicitly choose to do so
For what its worth
Swype Version: 1.35.21-2.6366 and I've been unsuccessful in uninstalling that version to see if the newer version of Swype, assuming the one at https:// beta[dot]swype[dot]com/android/get/ is newer, corrects this 'problem.'
Is this a bug in the OS, phone application, Swype, other or is this by design?
Whenever I press the home button, I see this message:
complete action using
- set Home as default. Do not use this as default default. You had been warned.
- TwLauncher.
Use by default for this action.
I've no idea how out of the blue this message keeps propping up. The warning sounds alarming as well.
Anyone knows why I'm getting this, what does it mean, and what should I do?
lol, that is funny. "You had been warned", sounds like a death threat
Did you install anything that would mess with the home button?

I installed the free version of Lock 2.0 and I think it is referring to this. Yes, it does sound like death threat, doesn't it
I get a similar message too but my options are Launcher Pro or TWLauncher (Touchwiz). I haven't set Launcher Pro as default yet (testing reasons) so i do expect it on mine. Underneath the options i have a tick box 'Use by default this action' don't you have that option Steve?
oh and i'd be more inclined not to pick the death threat one either lol

I just tried to install the Droid X keyboard. The procedure now results in the third item being shown.
Seems like a number of applications that we install are all trying to fight for thte default home crown.
I like TouchWiz interface very much, so know what to do now.
Thanks for your input.
How do you stop the keyboard click sounds? I've gone to Settings...Sounds and disabled "Touch Sounds" but I still get clicks when I type of the keyboard
???
Try to disable "sound on key-press" in the Android Keyboard Settings! For me it works
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1
Poster above has it right.
Settings>Language and Inputs.
Look for the "Settings" icon next to "Android Keyboard" (probably selected as "Default")
De-select "Sound on Keypress"
Thanks - that did the trick!
Glad to hear it!
So I'm in chrome browsing and when I click on a check box to check or uncheck it I get this magnifier popping up and zooming that part of the page. It is very very very annoying having to double click each time to make this go away. Could someone walk me through please on how to disable this feature???
Thanks.
Ps. In on a nexus 10, stock android rooted
If you "go" to chrome://version you will see the command line parameters passed to chrome. If you go to chrome://about you will get a full list of these chrome urls and clicking on them will in some cases allow you to change settings. I don't know what the magnifier setting is called. I'd start looking here https://developers.google.com/chrome/
So I found the problem and it's called "enable link preview" but it seems like no one knows how to disable this option. the only viable solution would be to choose a new browser
I guess it's bye bye chrome ....
Thanks for your help though
Im trying to disable the swipe left to right to call, and swipe right to left to message feature thats in the stock Messages app on the Verizon Galaxy s5. I find myself accidentally calling people Im texting, and trying to explain why I called. I like swipe functions, but this particular one can be quite annoying, especially since the option to turn it off isnt exactly the most obvious to me.
Ive tried going into settings in the stock messages app, and theres nothing there about swipe commands. I even went into the settings and tried the motions and gestures option, nothing. Language and input, nothing. I even tried to edit the settings in the phone app, and you can only disable swipe to call when youre in the phone app, but nowhere else, which seems a little counter intuitive to be able to turn it off in the phone app, and not in the messages app.
Is there something Im missing? It really isnt making much sense to me that it cant be turned off. The Messages app Im talking about is the one that looks like a white envelope, with a yellow sheet of lined paper coming out of the top, not the Message+ that comes with the Verizon bloatware.
If anyone can help Id really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
Cannot just disable the message portion you have to disable the complete swipe action. To do this, open dialer then select menu ->settings -> Contacts -> uncheck "Swipe to call or send message."
I know this is older but I am trying to disable the same feature. Un-checking that box only effects contacts, not the action from within messenger. Is there a way to disable it in messenger also or is the only option to not use the Samsung one?
I do hate when crappy "features" are not optional.
I ended up ditching the stock app and going with a paid version of chompsms. Works great and doesn't have this feature. To delete or call a contact from the conversation screen its actually a long hold action, which is a bit safer from accidental deletions.
Worked for me. Was so annoying, thanks for the help!

Hey guys! Still nothing? Are we stuck with this "ingenuity" for good?
Man, I hope just one of the morons who designed this feature read this thread one day. I hate this feature.
