Hi there,
I have been a member of this form for quite some time now.
I just got my Galaxy II and i am in love with it, however i got some issues.
As you can see from the title / subject (3) issues.
I will try to be brief.
Status:
--------
My Phone is rooted correctly
I have Superuser
I have 2.3.5 installed
The phone is not branded
I am in Germany
I re applied the secure kernel so i dont see the yellow triangle after the
rooting.
For more info regarding my device let me know.
1. VPNC Widget
------------------
I got it to work perfectly. I am using it with my Fritzbox (a common german router that does pretty much everything, including VPN service)
My only trouble is: It does not working over 3G.
Can it be the fault of the ISP, can i check the port maybe if IPSEC does not work ? I mean i tried Firebind to check the IPSEC port but it did NOT fail
so it is open. Is there maybe anything i forgot to set.
As i said i can go to a hotspot and it works fine, friends router, also fine, anything over WiFi works great.
2. Social Hub
---------------
I love social hub it includes my accounts
as in Facebook, MSN messanger, google talk, Work exchange server
My problem here: Google Mail (not app). It works again over WiFi but not over 3g.
HOWEVER, it does work over 3G with the Google Mail app.
I dont understand why i would have to setup the google mail account again
in Social hub if i already have it set up in the Google mail app.
But i tried and it gives me two different errors.
A. Over Premium it gives me failed to connect
B. Without premium it gives me cannot safely connect to server
Another remark or WiFi point B. works fine, IMAP does not.
Can it be that the google mail app is already using it and that is why a double connection cannot be created ?
3. ClockworkMod
-------------------
I installed ROM Manager just fine.
I updated and flashed via the GUI on the phone the first button in
ROM Manager the clockworkmod. This copies a update.zip in the root of my internal SD card. I then proceed to turn off the phone and use the
(Vol. UP + Power + Home button) to gain access to the blue menu.
Here i select install over SD card the zip.
Then i select the update.zip and it fails giving me a signature error.
This does not work i tried it over and over again.
Do i have to use Odin to actually flash the kernel patch for Clockworkmod.
Does this affect anything else ?
I know this is a lot of stuff but maybe there are smarter people out there besides me, i have been browsing the internet for solutions but found nothing useful for any of these. Suggest something to me and i will let you know if it worked.
I appropriate any help.
Thank you much.

Wife and 3g ... So there is no fix here 4 for sure
The vpnc i still need help with as well as the clockwork.
However it seems quit common for S2 users tl have to copy a downloaded zip with clockwork mod into the sd card. Slowly it seems k am getting closer

Hi guys,
I'm totally new to Android and XDA so please don't flame me into abyss
Well I followed several How-To's to install Android 2.2.9 on my Xperia X8.
All was fine I was happy...
But then i regocnized my Internet isn't working fine anymore.
First of all its slow as **** (maybe imaginary?) And sometimes it just stops loading
Well but that's not the reason why I'm here.
The reason why I'm here is that since I installed 2.2.9 I'm unable to connect to any HTTPS websites (such as login-pages)
Furthermore I can't log into Apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and so on...
In facebook i allways get the message: "SSL handshake failure, I/O Error during system call, Connection reset by peer"
Other apps are telling me nearly the same.
The browser says when entering a HTTPS site: "unable to create secured connection"
What I tried, to fix it (without profit):
1) Reinstalled 2.1 (with my backup file)
2) flashed old Baseband (006 instead of 015)
3) made hard reset
(4) put my SIM-Card into another Smartphone (there the Internet was 100% working)
Maybe someone of you got an idea?
I really like my new phone but without https and so its like: =(
Regards Lars aka RainOfChaos
PS: sorry for my bad language
anyone has found a fix for this problem? im having the same issues here. can't login to fb, google play store, and other sites which require login.

try too flash a new gaapps
OK... I flashed CM7.1(RC1), and also the latest Gapps...
Both of these were already on my SD card from prior to my resetting the phone back to Froyo....
SO... I am rooted (have not checked radio or simcard), but when I flashed CM7.1 and Gapps, and then rebooted.... I didn't have a market app.
So I went through the browser to an xda thread from this summer where I could download a market app. Installed it.
When launching market, it states I need to add an account-- and this is correct as I had not added a gmail/google account as of yet.
But when I go to Accounts under Settings.... It says I can setup an EXCHANGE ACCOUNT.... What is this???? I tried just entering a gmail account and my password, and it says it cannot connect to server.
What is going on...????? This has nothing to do with the market app... (I don't think).
Anybody have a clue??

An Exchange Email is for Microsoft Outlook users. It allows us to either get Pushed or polled email services.
if you cannot get the g/apps i would highly recommend wiping, flashing the ROM, then flashing the g/apps again. And it does use a specific g/apps package with 2.3 ROMS.

Thank you for your reply. After an innumerable number of hours I was able to root it (without using a USB cable.. I just switched to ADB wireless after temproot), I think I got everything the cyanogen guide is supposed to deliver... But I need to recheck in hboot.
Wow a lot of headaches. I might make a guide.

I am using P7510 wifi only model and living in China. These I tried varies methods and finally found the way to remove the market regional restriction without vpn.
I am using overcome 1.1 with pershoot kernel, which is based on a 3G rom I think(not sure if this helps or not).
1. install market access and fake tmobile provider
2. remove google account and disable network and gps location service
3. force close market and clear data
4. open market, add back my google account
5. now I can see all the paid apps and download them without error like "this item cannot be installed in your country".
ps. not sure market access will work on a wifi only rom.
Thanks for your post. I have struggled with market access every since bringing my tablet to China. I have found ways around it, but they are painful and only temporary.
I can verify that market access will not work on an wifi only version. It is interesting that you have flashed yours with a 3G version of ROM. I have wondered if this would then work and obviously it does. I am also using pershoots kernel but just flashed tasks new ROM and really do not want to change to another one. I have often thought that we just need to use some of the 3G settings in the build.prop to make the marketaccess program work but I have not seen confirmation of this.
Can you point me to the exact 3G ROM you are using? Thanks.
I am using overcome 1.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275751
but since its based on 3g rom, it gave me headache setting up exchange mail, and imap won't retrieve any mail, only pop3 works. I am waiting for overcome 1.1.1 which reverts back to wifi only rom and should resolve the email problem, but then market access may not work.......

How about after a reboot? I tried Market Access, Market Enabler as well as RootToolbox Pro and neither was able to handle the fake on boot option.

That is a shame. I spend a lot of time in a country where paid apps are not available and it is a pain to download the apps to my phone first (Market Enabler fake on boot works perfectly on it) and then copy them to the Tab, but what can one do. Maybe someone will come up with something better.

great news. I install overcome rom 1.2 which is back to wifi base, and my method works!!!
Very interesting and thanks for the feedback. I assume you flashed with the 1.2 version for the 7510 (Wifi only version) and this is what you say is now working? Or did you flash again with the 7500 version of 1.2?
I may try to flash with the 7510 and see if that fixed the market problem even though I had not previously flashed the 7500 version. I can't believe this will work but may give it a try.
Hi all,
I am hoping you can help me.
I have followed the instructions on this site and rooted my kindle.
Also I have installed Android market place again via instructions on this site.
I have a proper Googlemail account which I use to login and I can run the market fine, can see loads of apps.
If I want to purchase a free app, i click on it and get the option of download.
Click download, I get a pause and a box that just say "can't be downloaded due to error"
I have upgraded the Vebding file to 3.3.1 and I have checked its permissions
Any other ideas please as to why i cannot download from market.
Everything else works fine.
Regards
Ian
Bumping this: I am on the Galaxy Nexus and I am having the same issue.
Try setting your router to only use the g protocol if you have a b/g/n router.
update to new market, that might fix it and clear cache and data
is there a reason why some apps that show up on my droid x don't show up on the kindle? both have the newest market installed.
the market looks at your device and only shows apps that meet it's hardware/software requirements. this is to prevent you from buying something your device cant use.
Use Root Explorer or some file navigator and goto your SD card and delete the .android_secure folder.
Should be good to go after that.
I had this problem on my Droid charge and Kindle fire today and this resolved it.
Hello guys as u mightve figured im a total noob on proxies and i need to access youtube real bad but not as in only from the browser because inthat case i wouldve just used some random proxy browser app but i need to anness the website through the youtube app.or tubemate because that way i can download videos now it brings me to my first question regarding hotspot shield that even though it reconnects very quickly afer it has been disconnected (which happens every two mins) but i need to close my browser and open it again in order for it to start working again and it is in no way working with the youtube app or tubemate so thats my first question of why it disconnects so much .... Secindly i would want to know what are iptables because those are needed to set up transparent proxy on apps like orbot (which i had been using with hyperion rom which had ip tables but now i cant since im on stock rom now) where can i install these iptables to make orbot work again.....
I just need anyway to make tubemate or the youtube app to start working weather its changing my ip address and port in the wifi settings or maybe installing an app or changing some settings but i only want to remain on my stock rom because my phone bricks alot...... Anyways i would be REALLY thankful to anyone that helps and help the new guy at xda ..... Im waiting for your help..
use a custom kernel like hells fusion #50 and orbot should work
you can use proxydroid app and then seach google for a free proxy server address however you may have to try a few to find one that works and they are not always very fast
And where can i find this hells fusion kernel and i how do i install it please ?im a noob here

1. Download the kernel and CWM for galaxy y (if you're using stock kernel, google it).
2. Put it onto your phone's SD Card.
3. Turn off the phone.
4. Reboot to recovery by pressing Volume Up+Home+Power button at the same time.
5. If you're on stock kernel, apply update from SD card, then select the CWM zip. (Make sure that the CWM is moved into root of SD Card (not in any folder).
6. In CWM, mount everything (Mounts and storage>mount all).
7. Go back and select install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card and locate where you've downloaded the kernel zip and select them (you will be in AROMA installer, which is like Windows app setup)
8. After that select reboot system now.
