Like, the title says...I wonder what will happen to the I/O tab. No updates to touchwiz, will we get 3.2? Or will it be forgotten very quickly?
I am thinking it is forgotten. Remember there were/are at most 5000 of them. A very small percentage, and more then likely a large percentage are rooted and running custom ROMs at this point anyway (mine is not because I wanted to watch Google movies on it, but that turned out to be an epic fail, but more on that in another thread).
Since we got it for free, I can't really blame them, but I can still be disappointed I guess.

So the I/O got 3.2? Was it with or without Touchwiz?
I wouldn't say it was free. How much were the tickets, $900?

Didn't they get Nexus S phones aswell? .
I don't think the 10.1 I/O versions will get touchwiz, usualy developers for android wants a pure android experience?
The GIO is a developer build - which means it is great for custom ROMs - i am running Task's 3.2 ROM on it and it smooooooth and much more responsive than before
Can someone please confirm that the I/O got 3.2 also?

3.2 update was only for Retail tabs. I/O didn't get anything till now except for the Google movies update.
Well it got from 3.0 to 3.1 and the goog movie update.
But what is strange is that as a dev.device it doesnt get the 3.2 first. forgotten maybe?

We got to 3.1 with movies and no Touchwiz. I wouldn't be surprised if ICS turned up.

Well, it's not really like this tablet is google's "Nexus", right?
Yea i wouldn't say it is a dev tablet seeing as the xoom was the first out with HC all the major updates went to that tablet first. I think of it as a limited edition.

Indeed, now when you say it. I'm 99% sure that I heard someone from androids dev. team saying in a interview (when the xoom was new and everything was developed) that the Xoom was the tab everyone was "keeping in mind" when coding HC.
Just check with OTA and KIES.....still nothing on the I/O tab

So what does that mean for us zoom owners?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
That since they are both tegra 2 it is possible we could get it ported over
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Also to me it means that they were able to get the Radio enabled in ICS for Mobile Data, whereas it's still being worked on w/ the current ICS builds for the Xoom.
And hoping once it's up and running on the Galaxy Tab the port time to the Xoom should be minimal.

Supposed to be Q1 of this year.... I wouldnt bother waiting if I were you
Try out the ICS KANG in the dev section, IMO its good enough to be a daily use ROM, just the ROM alone has made the tab actually feel like how it should have always been since HC was garbage on the tab

yea way smother. HC kind of sucks imo. but i dont thing the current preview rom they have out is good enough for daily use. HQ video playback doesnt work. and that is a killer for me because i use my tab for Media mostly. But if thats not important to you then it is good enough to use every day. cant wait for the real thing though. Tablets need it bad because HC is rushed and crummy.
Yes ICS is a huge improvement over HC. I have a Galaxy Nexus and it is as smooth as an iPhone, and gets amazing battery life. I have the Kang of CM9 on the Tab and it so good I am leaving it on despite the fact my keyboard dock doesn't work. It is just too good to go back to HC.
I concur the kang is awesome. It's like ICS was made for this. Smooth and speedy. Despite no HQ playback yet I'm sticking with it no way I can go back to honeycomb now.
Patiently awaiting an official CM9 build soon.
Try it if no likey nandroid back to honeycomb.

Do you guys think Samsung will cancel upgrading our Galaxy tab 10.1 to ICS so that they push a made for ICS Tab later this year?
Anybody tried using the Kang on teh P7500? The 3G version seems like lagging in the update department in terms of custom ROMs.
Yeah p7500 owners don't have much to play around with. I was wondering if we flash a p7510 rom with a modem whether we will get 3g. Anyone willing to try?

Wifi roms work normally on 3g tab but with no 3g ,but personally I haven't tried ics yet .

All,
what about battery lifetime on Kangs ? Anybody have any figures yet ?
The kang works fine on the 7500. Its smooth as hell too. Completely on another level compared to hc. But without HQ playback I cant use as a daily driver.
Try it out if your curious.
T he Kang is for p75xx so it does work on p7500. Tried it for acouple of hours but had to revert back to honeycomb because of lack of 3g.

I think you can run the public's officially released galaxy tab10.1's roms.
As long as u open up metainf/com/google/android/updaterscript in notepad++ and delete the lines with assert get prop.

Yes. I think it's weird too. It was first to get 3.1, so you'd expect it to get 3.2 first especially since its running what looks like almost stock Honeycomb.

Also interested in upgrades to IO edition
As one of the other 5,000 who has the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Google IO Edition tablets, I've also been trying to track down the 3.2 upgrade. I've a spent a good chunk of this afternoon searching the web, deleting/re-adding my Samsung account to the Tab, and (gasp!) even installing Kies to see if it would unlock any necessary driver or other changes.
So far, nothing - same as what I read here. So, I'm looking forward to know if/when the 3.2 upgrade will be available to us IO Tab owners. (Though, I admit, I'd rather see ICS.)
Thanks for keeping us informed if any of the rest of you make any progress in finding a real, official update path that avoids the need to update/install ROM images, etc.

Honestly they're all almost the same.
Although I would put the latest (non-ics) in this order:

As far as I know there hasn't been official confirmation by Acer to the public yet but yes, several "blogs" have claimed that Acer has confirmed to them that the A500 will get Jelly Bean eventually. Personally I don't see why it wouldn't unless they EOLed the A500 and even then it'd really be a burn for them not. Take it as a grain of salt until you see Acer throw something up on Facebook though....which they may or may not do since they've gotten crap every time they promised an update (and it came later than promised).
Acer South Africa replied to my email saying that the A500 will be getting Jelly Bean but they don't know when.

Why, Oh Why, did I buy the flagship product from Acer (at the time)? Maybe I should have gone for a Sammy instead...
If JB is anything like ICS 4.0.3, then no thanks.
Best part about a500 receiving JB is possibility of XDA developers like Civato getting their hands on source code and tweaking it. If you haven't tried out his ICS Stryker ROM then flash it to see true potential of a500 hardware. I've been switching between that and CM10 JB ROM which is also very stable now. JB has serious potential especially once you include a kernel from ezterry or linuxsociety.
