[Q] Market Movies after root? - Acer Iconia A500

Has anyone had problems with movies from the market after installing a custom rom?
After installing Taboonay and Thor roms, I get error messages when I try to stream or download movies. The market 'help' experts say it is because it is rooted. When I reinstall a stock rooted rom, it works. Anyone else had this problem or know what I could do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Are u WiFi or 3g. Have heard of Carriers doing this....

I3 rom keeps losing root.

I just want to know if this is something that is happpening to anyone else? Some roots required apps work just fine but then I get some apps like wifi tether, busybox, and barnacle tether don't and even tell me I don't have root access. If anyone has had this problem please give me the heads up. If not ill assume its some sort of issue with how my setup is and ill Odin and start from scratch.

Try flashing su.
those apps are not supported on the ROM, you still have root

Marcusant told someone to download barnacle because Wifi tether wasn't working. You sure that one isn't supported?

Many thanks!
Did it work?
Can you please share the "telephone files" (baseband) so I can try the oposite (convert a US CDMA to 3G GSM/UMTS)

Changing build.prop to download app

Hi,
I'm trying to download a game, but I installed ICS (latest kang) and obviously it's thinking I'm running 4.0.1 and the game won't run on this. Is there a way to edit build.prop or any other file so I can buy the game before the rebate ends.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: All I'm trying to know is if it's possible to change a file to make the Market app think I'm running something like 2.3.4 so I can buy the app??

Yup exactly and I know it's not my phone since my GF has the same, but hers is running stock android.
did you change LCD density
Only time I have issues with incompatible apps is when I mess with density and set to 210
Default is 240

Do a backup in CWM and install a GB rom, buy the app and restore your ICS rom in CWM. The long but sure way to get there..

This
but make sure u backup the app with titanium before you restore ics. Because still you won't be able to download from market.

Oh well, I thought about that, but I hope there would have been a faster way.
Still thanks everyone
Have you tried to browse to market.android.com on your PC and buy it there? Yesterday I couldn't buy an app on my phone, for me it worked that way.
you're lucky....at least your phone has a reason to think it's not compatible....I'm running stock 2.3.4 and I get that error message for at least 75% of the apps in the market....including gmail, etc. It's obnoxious!!!
Seriously, this isn't even a dump from online or anything...this is my original ROM backup restored via CWM that is doing it.
It thinks you're running 4.0.1? If you are running ICS euroskank kang you ARE running 4.0.1....

But really, don't use ICS as daily driver, it's way too buggy and slow. Very soon we will have the ICS OTA and then things will be different.. I hope..

[Q] In need of guidance!!

I recently bought a epic 4g and I got a guy to flash it to cricket for me.
I have had this phone for a while now and I feel like I'm in need of downloading roms onto it.
Before I do so I'm sure someone has already gone through this so ijust want to be on the safe sie that after I get a custom rom eveything will work. Now I know I can root but I need to know more.
1. If I clockwork mod it and what not will my service till work?
2. After I custom rom it will I have to put my service again?
Someone please respond and explain to me what I can and can not do or wht to have caution with. Please make sure though.
Everything will work as long as the ROM you flash supports it. Just read the ROM's bug list to be sure what you need is working..
So flashing it will work no problem, if I want ics anything bad there?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
There shouldn't be..the ROM doesn't interfere with the hardware that connects to your service provider that I am aware of..if it's for the Epic4G, it's for the Epic4G...lol just make a nandroid backup with CWM when you get it installed.
If your wanting ics.. cm9.. then there is an alternative carrier fix that needs to be applied for mms to work but yes it should work just fine on a new ROM.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Not necessarily, afaik AOSP roms like ics do not play nicely with data from other carriers. You might want to change the title of your post to "will cricket wireless work on ics"

I used the CM7 ROM from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495754 to flash my brother's epic... for the most part it works, but he occasionally has some issues getting/sending MMS and (claims) he has to go into airplane mode to get internet to work once in a while.
I can confirm that MMS send/receive does work, it just doesn't seem to be 100% reliable. It could be the fact that he's dropped his phone numerous times, enough to crack the screen.
I'm thinking of just getting cm7, but I'm having issues rooting with odin. My computer doest wanna detect my phone.
