Using more than 1 kernal thats on CWM 5
when tring to install ay hing whn going to
-chose zip from sdcard
i get E:can't mount /sdcard/
whn changing kernal back to CWM version 4
every thing is ok and i cant mount and install
what is the problem
and btw whrn i go to mounts and storage
then i do to mount /sdcard
i get Error mounting /sdcard
Try the "install zip from internal sdcard" option, i noticed recently they swapped these things around in the kernel. If you chose install from sdcard it tries to install from the external sdcard that you put in the phone, same goes for backup and restore.

Are you trying to use ROM Manager? it doesn't work on Galaxy S II. If you're using CF-Root then use CWM app that it installs.
Just a tip: most members, myself included, don't usually respond to thread when the OP writes like you do. Personally it makes me think the person is thick and helping would be an arduous task so I usually avoid such threads.
Weird, /sdcard mounts working fine for me and backups and stuff always goes to the "internal SD"....

Good Evening Everyone,
I am opening up this thread because I am not able to use the Backup Current Rom feature in my Nook Color using ext3 or ext4 file system on my micro-sd card.
Is there any way to fix this problem without using fat32?
This is what happen:
I select Backup Current Rom
The nook restarts
Waiting for SD card to mount
Can't mount SD card...
Bye and thank you very much in advance

This sounds like you are running CM7 off of SD... you DO NOT use CWM for SD installs.
If you are not running off of SD... then I'd make sure you have the current version of CWM (3.2.0.1) and try mounting the SD from the menu's before trying anything else.
Hi, First of all, thanks for answering to my inquiry
Yes I run CM7 on from the internal memory of the Nook Color and yes, I am running CWM (3.2.0.1).
If I mount the sd card from the menu settings->storage->Mount SD Card, the sd card is mounted without any problems... The problem is when I try to Backup Current Rom
I tried also to reboot manually in recovery mood and do:
mounts and storage
mount /sdcard and I get Error mounting /sdcard!

Assuming you have a good flashable CwMR 3.2.01 uSD.
Plug it into the NC, when powering up, it should be automatically booted into CwM Recovery. From there, do the Backup.
No need to mount SD card. In fact, don't know why you would do that?

1- How do I know if I have a good flashable CwMR 3.2.01 uSD?
I have the one that comes with the CM7 updated to 3.2.0.1.
2- I went on ROM Manager ->Backup Current ROM but still, when I am in the recovery mode and I click on
backup and restore -> backup
I get the message Can't mount /sdcard
I have also tried to turn on the nook and enter into the recovery mode by pressing the n key but still, I get Can't mount /sdcard when I try to backup my ROM.
What do I do wrong?
P.S. In case my CwMR is not good, how do I remove it?

Ehhhh, honestly, no clue what you're trying to say.
Anyway, let's start from scratch.
Firstly, pls let us know your current system such ROM version, where it boots from, .....
Secondly, what are you trying to do? Make a backup?

The ROM version is CyanogenMod-7-11162011-NIGHTLY-encore.
I got it in download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore

It boots from eMMC (I think... I installed the ROM in the Internal Memory)

I am trying to make a backup on my micro-sd that has an ext4 file system
Bye and thank you very much.
Clear!
Now, if you did install ROM into eMMC yourself, then I assume you know how to create a flashable CwMR uSD and it is good.
Assuming the flashable uSD is fresh and good.
1. Insert the uSD into NC. Power it up. It will boot into recovery AUTOMATICALLY.
2. From the CwMR menu, using volume up/down button to to Advanced, then Backup. Let it run until finishes. Theoretically, the entire backup .zip file should be around 100MB.
3. Remove the uSD off NC.
4. The backup .zip file should probably be in the "clockworkmod" folder under ROOT. Transfer it to PC or other space to save.
That's it.
There is absolutely no need dealing with "mount SD" or "ext3" or "ext4"
Hi all,
i was trying to jump from kingdroid to criskelo what i did was:
i had already placed my rom in the internal sdcard.
installed CF-Root-SGN_XX_SEB_LQ3 through PC odin
went into cwm mode did a wipe
tried install zip from internal SD Card but now it says "file not found"
even rebooting dosent help it stays still at "Samsung galaxy note N 7000" logo
Kindly help
Thanks in advance.
Are you sure it's not on the other SD card?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
yes sir very sure even the other sd card says " E: Can't mount /sdcard/ "
That happens sometimes. Go to mounts and storage>mount /sdcard. Try toggling 'mount USB storage' a couple of times and try again. And you should really not flash anything with that kernel anyhow. Use the CM9 kernel.

as far as I'm concerned this error appears when you dont have external sd card inserted.
Are you sure, you chose "install from internal sd card"?
Hi all, I tried searching through the forums and I wasn't able to find a solution and was hoping you could help me out.
I recently tried flashing a custom rom and because it was giving me problems, I decided to go back and recover from my back up.
But everytime I tried, it tells me that "Couldn't open directory. No files found."
I found this to be odd, so I rebooted back in the rom and tried to see if I could go through the N7 to put a new .zip file to flash.
When I go into Nexus 7 in My Computer, it just shows up blank.
I'm guessing there is something going on that messed up my ability to access the device storage.
If I go into mounts and storage in CWM, my /sdcard and /system are not mounted.
So I tried mounting both. /system mounts up just find, but /sdcard doesn't.
I'm not sure if this is significant, but in CWM, if I go to "install zip from sd card" -> "choose zip from sdcard" it doesn't show up what it used to which was just all the folders and such in my N7.
It now shows, 0 /, clockworkmod/, legacy/ and obb/...
I also tried to reinstall all drivers on my computer in case that was what was causing an issue. But it didn't fix the problem.
Does anyone have a solution?
The device itself seems to be recognized by my computer..
Would I be able to use the Nexus 7 tool kit to flash back to stock to unroot again?
Thank you in advance!
I had a similar problem, but it was a while ago. Can't quite remember but I think uninstalling the drivers, unplugging the device, turning off usb-debugging and then plugging it back in fixed it. YMMV.
Hope it helps.

I believe that is significant. With 4.2.x, the "SD card" mount is now supposed to happen at
/data/media/0
instead of
/data/media
I use TWRP (not CWM) but I too experienced a "missing backup" issue, and then later found it at
/data/media/TWRP
rather than
/data/media/0/TWRP
If I were you I would poke around using a root file explorer and see if you have backup data in either
/data/media/clockworkmod or
/data/media/0/clockworkmod (or even)
/data/media/0/0/.../0/clockworkmod
then (a) use a recovery which can succeed at "mount /sdcard", and (b) move the clockworkmod folder using your (root-aware) file manager so it is within the /sdcard mount point of the recovery.
There has been some recent flux in the past few months with buggy behaviors in custom recoveries, including that 0/0/0.../0 phenomenon; it might be time for you to upgrade your current recovery to a newer version.
usually a mount failure happens for only one of two reasons:
- the mount point doesn't exist, or
- the file sysem is corrupted.
Seems improbable that it could be the 2nd of those issues - the "/sdcard" mount point is a little bit odd - it is sort of like a "hard link" or loopback mount with some behaviors that mask the underlying (true) file ownership information. If the underlying /data (ext4) filesystem was corrupted, then /data itself would also not be mounting. That would certainly wedg your ROM boot though, and it sounds as if your ROM is operating adequately.
Note that the possibility does exist that you simply erased or formatted your entire /data partition at one point or another and those backups actually got erased.
good luck
Guys, all of a sudden CWM can't mount the sdcard. I wiped the data in order to install Vanir's ROM. I was previously on Rayglobe's. Is there anyway to come outta this? I'm desperate guys, please help me. I don't want this costly phone to become a brick! It's D802 BTW.

Sorry, correct me if my knowledge was wrong - but how u want to mount a SD-Card when the phone has no slot for it?
Hi,
Yes, you can't mount sdcard in recovery with phones without sdcard (the recovery can't mount the link to the internal memory, even if it's called sdcard), if you have an USB OTG cable you can mount your external sdcard and make backup or put into it some flashable zip's...
If you wiped data, why you want to mount your sdcard , you have your rom in the internal memory so just flash it...

Internal storage is named "sdcard", even though that doesn't make any sense. I've Nexus 4 and it shows the same thing too.

I used to flash other ROMs through "sdcard" from CWM menu before, it was working perfectly until now. There's also "external_sdcard" sub-menu too.

Hum... No need to mount your sdcard to flash your rom... Like I said external sdcard is if you use an USB OTG cable, it's the link for your external USB storage.
In CWM navigate to the sdcard then where you put your rom, simple...
But if you wiped your sdcard in recovery, it will be harder for sure...
Or I don't understand what you mean
So I flashed TWRP D802 ver. from Flashify, but now I can't even do a factory reset as it says that it cannot mount /data. Now I can't wipe nor can I install a zip from TWRP. Please help me.
Just flash stock. Go to general section. "Go back to stock"
Hey Guys,
I am new this forum. I had Done my rooting and i installed a custom rom. I thought of increasing my Internal Memory by moving apps to sd. I rooted to CWM and partition my sd to 1 GB. And install Link to SD. Everything works fine. Guys i need a help is there any way to repartition to 512mb instead of 1 GB. So i could use more memory On my Sd.
Also
Do i need to uncheck everythning that i made during using link2sd in the process
Soloution
I know i may sound stupid for posting the solution since i am the one who asked for solution. I searched the whole internet to find the solution. Its easy to do that you don't need to partition etc etc. All you got to do is go to Settings -> Sd Card and Storage -> Unmount it -> And just format Boom You get your space back. I am writing this solution to people who have problem in removing the partition space
you can use cwm ro repartion your sd card or use computer to do it
cant mount sd

Format your sd card correctly from the phones settings
