When i started to use this ROM it did not work. I have to factory restore and reinstall everything again just to change the live address.
No one from Sweden that could confirm this?

yes, most things work with a swedish ID. two minutes of googling could have told you that also.

I did and did not find anything NEW that told me so. Maybe i'm a ****ty Googler
By most things do so you meen?

No problem with Swedish live id. But you will loose the ability to buy Zune pass. (unfortunately not released in Sweden yet)

We have marketplace access, but lots of apps are only in the US version. No Zune Pass, Local Scout, Local search, etc. I prefer using a US account.

China is blocking Market downloads since cyanogens 4.19 release.. any ideas?

Since I have upgraded to cyanogens 4.19 and later builds using the new market, It seems that 95% of my downloads are unsuccessfull. I am living in China and love my phone but can only deduce that China is blocking downloads. This occurs over both wifi and edge connections.
Any ideas how to get around this??????
Is this because of the new radio required by google? Is this because of the new market? Is this simple a flat out great firewall of china block? Are there any proxies available for the market? Any alternative to market? SSlide is very limited. Thanks
I can synch, but even that is not very stable.
I have used my phone since the dudes long ago and no problems through all roms until the 4.19 series...
Currently on c 4.21 stable... dream G1
Have you tried a different ROM perhaps? Or at the very least wiped/cleared ext3 and put CM back on?

this is real necessary for login google account & market due to damn&f**k GFW of china
I have tried the last 2 or three cyanogen roms. Also I have tried the stock google 1.6 dev rom. I have reformatted my partitions, and wiped several times. Thanks for your reply. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Doesn't China sensor certain things because it's an communist country? I'm not trying to be an ass, but that might be the reason. I think google sensors webpages and searches because of government regulations.

Great! Can you tell me how to do this! It is so annoying! I am having a problem even using gmail.
It has been a long time since china blocked something.
you can replace your hosts file.
Since you live in china, why not go to
www.androidin.net & www.hiapk.com
I know about these sites... the only problem is I can speak some Chinese, but not read or write it .... I hardly have time to learn so I came here!
Thanks for any ideas.. any one know how to edit the hosts as the posster a couple of posts up described?

upzip attached and copy to /system/etc with SUFBS or RootExplorer.
or use below in windows "CMD"
adb remount
adb push "path of hosts file" /system/etc
try this
extract the 2 files to 1 folder, connect your G1 with your PC
than run push.bat and enjoy it.
You need android usb drivers&adb before doing this.
If mine doesn't work,try Ayerwin's hosts file.
replace mine hosts with his, than run push.bat.
mine method is simpler ^_^
I used the abd method from aryewin first , rebooted and tried to install the speech synthesis files from the market...It is downloading as I type this. Thank you. It is hard to say if it worked yet because 5% of the time downloads work. I will test it using the new hosts file today and report back as soon as I get some time. Thank you so much for your quick help there are so many things I use from the market this can really help if it is successfull.
i am also in china now, if you do a logcat you see that the market cannot estabilish an ssl connection
for me, a reboot (or using wifi with china unicom) fixes the problem
are you on china mobile (edge) or china unicom (umts)?
i think it is just temporary, as for me 90% of download works, and also i managed to buy 5 paid apps using market enabler
edit: putting youtube.com in the hosts file will make youtube work?? it sounds strange, che GFC is so strict in its checks (lol try to go on wikipedia to take a look for freegate, and see the epic fail, the page will load and then "magically" return an error)
i tried on my pc and i get
很抱歉,在 www.google.cn 上没找到您要访问的网页
Click to collapse
(cannot find google.cn)
this is because google tried to do the smart guy, and put youtube and google on the same ip address (to avoid ip blacklisting)
unfortunately the gfc is not stupid and will do DNS poisoning on some domains...
btw i can do everything with my g1 in china, everything works, gtalk, maps, push gmail, market (except youtube, twitter, facebook, and nimbuzz)
i am using china mobile (cmnet), maybe is that you are using cmwrap+cmwap? it is no wonder that it will fail to connect if you do so...
Checking back in I can say the new hosts file made the market run great the last three hours. Its great to have unlimited access again.
Yes, I am too using cmnet. Its too bad we cant use Chinese 3g with our g1. My phone has also worked great since I got it. The best phone in the world I have ever had.
It has been my experiance that China blocks sites differently in different regions and cities. Using China Mobile here.
If you are having a problem, I would suggest you using the host file in this thread. Has worked so far for me.
cyanogen 4.21
Thanks for everyones help.

I heard you can access twitter by android platform frome China and have seen people tweet from China using twidroid. I'm not sure if which service provider they use. But this may suggest something else wrong there.
Moreover, try to set your google service as .com instead of .cn. That one's totally useless. Massive amount of keywords are filtered out.
Good luck bro. It's really sad they are doing this do mobile network. Dunno what would happen to the iPhone network tho.
yes, it looks the market it is working good with the new hosts, but i cant tell for sure
adding youtube/twitter on the hosts file has no effect
the GFW does packet sniffing imho, it detects i am going on blogspot even if i am using a proxy!
btw, for the filtered sites, on the pc i don't care, i've setup a VPN from europe for that
you can replace google.cn with google.com, but it is not the same. you can use the automated translator, and the cached page feature only of the chinese website
and the result is the same
if you search for "freegate" on google.cn you get a warning "illegal search"
if you search for that on google.com you get a DNS error that will "kick you out" from all google-owned servers unless you do ipconfig /flushdns
btw there is a chance to use the 3g on the g1 in china, with china unicom (umts)
too bad, i went to 8 different china unicom reseller and none of them were speaking english, so i was "forced" to use china mobile (edge)
the china mobile agent insisted to give me the 30mb/month flat, as 2gb "is too much", and insisted to come back when the limit was reached
she was shocked when i come back the day after "how did you use all of the 30mb in a single day???"

I'm in beijing, people in china must use proxy to visit twitter, like dabr. Market works for me without hosts change on cm4.2.1 and KiNgxKx ROM 2.0. Thanks for these great roms.
I can use china unicom 3g, it's works ok.

Google on my Hero thinks I'm in China - WTH?

Sometimes when I'm on EVDO and I go to google for searching the Google Search button says "Google" but has Chinese characters next to it. If I search for something it returns all my results in Chinese. If I go back to the main search page and change it to "search in english" things appear as normally expected.
Is there some reason my phone or Google thinks I'm in China when in fact I'm actually in California? Visiting http://geotoolservehttp.com currently shows my IP out of Kansas, though I haven't checked this site when this is happening to me with the Chinese issue.
Anyone else experience this?
Yes - mine thinks im in spain when im in conecticut. Even setting my google account to english it didn't seem to take. I set my homepage to google.com/intl/en to get around it

The fix for me was just to sign in to google.com with my Google account.

Yup got Germany. (I live in CO)
Had it happen to me also...in french.
I get an italian version every once in a while. Pretty annoying.
I had this happen on my Treo Pro 850 a few times and never found a solution. I haven't had it happen on my Hero yet, knock on wood.
Google is attempting a new cultural campaign whether you like it or not.
Happened to me in Spanish. Cleared the cache and it returned to normal.
No joke I had Elmer Fudd language turn up on Eris when I did a Google search(via the search button).
This used to happen to me a lot on my old winmo phone, I'm in Ohio but it thinks it needs to be in French. I got around this both ways I've already seen people say, google.com/intl/en or just sign in to google.
Anyways.. I just wanted to confirm that this isn't anything to do with the phone, but Google itself.
double posted somehow... sorry. ;(
Same is happening to me lol

Installing Copilot v8.0.0.327

Ok.
So i got it installed using a program from Market using AppsInstaller.
Its now installed on the device, when i boot it up it gets a error and closes.
Saying
"Invalid Library
CoPilots code cannot be loaded by the system"
Anyone got any ideas how to fix this at all?
Thanks
Just download the current version from the market It has been altered to be compatible with Nexus One.
Dayz
coPilot 8.0.0.327 is not compatible with Android 2.1, you have to install coPilot 8.0.0.571
Mod edit - Request for warez removed. You could be banned if you continue this behaviour
Y'know, its a really good piece of software that does its job at a very reasonable price. Also, you can try it out for 10 days first.

Cheers for the info mate.
Il check newsgroups for a newer version =)
I found this here: Mod edit: Linked removed - warez
XDA-Dev has very strict rules about warez for a reason. Pay for the app or do not use it please.
Has anyone been able to get ALK to transfer their CoPilot license from an old phone to a new one? I bought it on my G1, and I emailed them about getting new keys a few weeks ago but they haven't responded.

Yes, to several devices. I would use your google checkout email that you recieved from ALK - You need to send them your new IMEI and they have always sent me a new activation

Their support e-mail form is borked; it keeps telling my recaptcha responses are bogus .. and they clearly aren't. At least, most of them aren't.
Do you have a support e-mail address that works? I've tried [email protected]. I don't see anything published on their website.
My friend just bought it for £20 off Market. Think il invest since its so cheap.

My experience matches yours. Downloaded the app on my N1, entered my order number and that was it. No need to contact Alk at all.
You dont really need to contact them unless you subscribe to live traffic or anything "extra" subscription"
Another way around if you subscribe to live traffic, is grab your data folder for ALK.copilot from your old phone or backup copy, that you should have..
Install copilot on your new phone/rom, prior, before starting up copiolt. Copy the data folder into the new data folder it creates.
As i said before this is only for live traffic.

How did you download it via the market place without buying it? I could only see versions you had to buy to download?
When you buy from the market, you get an email from google checkout/ALK services which has a link to contact the "seller" about the purchase - I've always used that to tell them of new IMEI
Now, when I first changed my device (G1 to Ion) I thought i'd be OK just redownloading onto new device, since all the maps and copilot folder was still on my SD card cos I swapped it from my G1. However, after an update, it stopped working and kept saying it needed an activation code. after a few emails to support, finally figured it was the change of device, and the activations are linked to IMEI - just sent my Ion IMEI and all was good again.
What happens is that the purchase info clears you to install on a new device, but the LICENSE info is still linked to the previous IMEI. It usually works fine for a week or so (Probably a 10 day grace) then has problems. My advice is to let them know your IMEI is "incorrect" and send them the correct one. They usually (In my experience) reply quicker when your enquiry is via google checkout link - and have replied within 24 hrs to my requests. Reply often advises you to start again and redownload maps etc but i've never needed to do that.
I have now been able to use copilot on my G1, Ion, Hero, Milestone, and nexus without having to repay - the price of this software is excellent for what you get - don't stiff the company by illegally installing, people. ALK are doing a good job

Buying apps while travelling in countries that are not available?

I'm a US based Nexus user, with a US credit card and US based Google Checkout account, but I'm currently overseas (in Thailand) for a while, and just discovered that the Android Market wont sell me paid apps while I'm here, because Thailand isn't on Google's list of countries, or whatever.
Is there any way for me to get around this? It's really annoying.
You could setup a vpn tunnel back to the U.S. via your pc assuming you can use the pc as a wifi access point. This would trick the market into thinking are in the U.S.

Or you could simply use this application to change where the Market thinks you are. Enjoy. http://www.deathpotion.com/apk/MarketEnabler_3.0.4.apk
Are you using your US-sim card, that should work?
I'm living in Indonesia and couldn't access the paid apps with my nexus one. Thankfully had and old dutch sim-card laying around, popped that in and voila, paid apps available.

Market Not compatible - No app paid

Hello,
I know there is tones of topics about it, but i really cant find any solution about it.
The most annoying problem is the not compatible apps, that should be compatible. I use the market on my computer which show paid apps (my phone doesnt show it). And normal apps like Vlingo are shown not compatible.
Worst some app i installed before are now shown not compatible anymore.
I changed room from lightning to Revolution (2.7.1), but still get the same probleme.
Anyway, how can it be from my phone if my account on computer show it not compatible. It must be from my account right ?
Im in china now, (bought the phone in France) and my google account is French. Can it be a problem with the localisation ?
Another weired thing on my phone, Market 3.1.5, when i go to Filter app (sorry i dont know the name in english for the option) to choose what level we want to show.
I must select FOR ALL before select Level3 and next must select level 3 to select level2. Shouldn't it be the reverse ? I mean, first people would like to get the most safe app, Level 1 and after get less safe, Level 2 - 3.
Is it the same on your device ?
Thanks all, i'm very tired of it, and it ruin my android experience... got SGS2, and cant install regular apps...

It's the creator of the app that decides which devices should be able to buy/download their app, if they have decided you can't have it or buy it that's their decision.
If you want an app to be available and wonder why it's not showing for SGS2 send the developer an e-mail and perhaps they'll tell you why it's not available.
Have you changed the LCD Density? I did and a load of my apps came up as not compatible until I reverted back to the standard DPI and rebooted.

If you're using a Chinese SIM card you will get the Chinese version of market which doesn't have paid apps. That's why they are shown as incompatible or not shown at all. You need to use your French SIM or use marketenabler with the old market if you want the paid apps.
