All of the retailers are getting the specs from one source (which is incorrect). It has been officially confirmed by Samsung that it does not contain gorilla glass. This should put this matter to rest already.
Gee thanks! Just when I thought I might be able to escape ordering one before
the new year, Newegg has to get this in stock LOL.
Think I'll hold off just a little longer, let someone get one in the USA from Newegg
and see how it works out, before I order one.
I've ordered from them for years, never had an issue.
GNote shipped from newegg
put in order Sunday Night. Got tracking Monday Morning
This is really really odd.
It's not released in the US yet. So this is an import?
There's nothing in the product listing that says it's an import and that you have no warranty.
I love Newegg and have bought many things from them, but that's weird to me. Or is there a general disclaimer for unlocked phones from them?

Mind sharing the source? I remember reading about the curved glass in nexus line not having the gorilla glass but none for the note
Sweet! And the return policy is 30 days and they will do a refund with a restocking fee...but I can't seam to find the % restocking fee.
I really really want to sell my flyer and get one now. But I am trying to hold off till early next year to see if it comes to ATT with LTE. For a device this expensive, it would be worth it to start a new contract.

If you're a long time loyal newegg customer there is a high probability to get the restocking fee waived, but no guarantee.

There are many equivalents to Gorilla Glass, considering Gorilla glass was invented in the 1960's it is not proprietary
I would not worry about the glass the "or equal" products perform as well.

It also says that T-Mobile is a "Compatible Carrier & Service" which only means you can use the Galaxy Note as a phone for T-Mobile, but there isn't that precious 1700 spectrum for H+ speeds. You'll be stuck on edge speeds, until your in wifi range.
Damn! I really hope someday old Sammy will kick out a GNote that supports T-Mobile.
Maybe, wishful thinking.

Seeing as T-Mobile is not doing so well, and may be merged with ATT, I don't see any motivation for Samsung to bring the Note to T-Mobile with H+ when the phone already works on ATT's H+ and 3g and edge network(and larger network) at that)
Got mine a few minutes ago. Works on ATT perfectly, but you need to add the APN settings or data won't work.

Keep in mind that Newegg only handles the warranty for like 90 days I believe so after that there is no US warranty. You may be able to find a third party insurer but most seem to stipulate the phone has to have a US written warranty so these EU/UK phones don't qualify.

For Square Trade....
Seeing as the warranty is still good in the UK though, wouldn't the device still technically be covered under "warranty"?

I called SquareTrade the other night and was told the same thing that I had read others post after digging into more that they will only offer warranty on a product that has a US warranty.
I don't know how the International warranty works when the device is purchased here in the US whether you can maybe send it to a Samsung service centre in the UK/EU or what. I just know that Samsung won't handle service requests in the US since it is a non-US phone.

^^^^ Agreed. $400 plus shipping is the MOST I would pay for it IF it was in mint condition with not a single scratch on it i.e would pass for new with original box and accessories. Anything more than that would be highway robbery.

Brand New Google Nexus One SIM Unlocked (not tied to any carrier).
Seems obvious, yeah...but you have no idea how many people don't know that they all come this way. People want convenience.
You can even put in the description...
"if you want, I can unlock the bootloader and root the device prior to shipping"
I sold a friend's G1 on ebay "unlocked and rooted" for almost 600 dollars.
That's a good idea. Well it's not like I am trying to scam Google. There are really 4 specks of dust under the screen and I am pretty sure there are more coming. It will just be more convenient if they just send me a replacement with the 850 band. Is there a support number in Canada that I can call? I actually bought the phone in Hong Kong during my visit there in January. I can get HTC ship it to Canada now since it's officially sold in Canada, right?
If anyone is feeling a little desperate, I will buy your T-Mobile version right now for $300 shipped. I know it's low but the upside is that you'll get the money asap and have a AT&T Nexus One in hand by the end of this week if you're quick about it.

I just bought mine from an Amazon seller (Warehouse Distributors). It was $684 with free shipping.
It just shipped, so I'll update you guys. I am a bit worried that they will screw me somehow (seem small, don't have their own domain for email or website), but calling them got to a live person, and seem friendly enough. In fact, they were able to pricematch when their price dropped a day later by $14 (was $698 when I ordered).
I hope it's not an open box or a box of rocks. Actually, if it was a box of rocks, it'd be suspicious even without opening since the phone is super light!
Either way, I'll update you guys on how it went. I'm expecting the phone by the end of this week.
i placed my order @ mobilecityonline.com last week. it was $699 + $4.99 shipping - $20 online coupon = $684.99 shipped. however, its price has risen since then, so apparently it was temporarily on sale. basically, just keep looking around bc its always changing on different sites, and look out for coupons.

I was hesitant about buying from most of the import sites in the US but surprisingly mobilecityonline has far less negative reviews than other sites dealing the sgs2 such as popularelectronics.com or negri. I received it just like they promised via fedex no issues. They even called me and emailed me to confirm my purchase and stressed that i have 14 days to return it.
The only gripe is that they listed it as the UK version but when i got it, it said Samsung Romania on the label and included non-english manuals. Also, the US power adapter that came in the box isn't working for me. No biggie tho bc everything else checked out. Used it for 2 days now and so far im satisfied.

I didn't even think of them putting another country's phone in there. I would be expecting the UK version.

Finally got it yesterday. Was in a unpadded box. But turned out okay for the most part.
Had a US power supply. Looks like a Latin America model (primary language on the box was Spanish, and so was the manual).
I found 5 green pixels when viewing a dark gray background.
ordered mine last week from amazon for 689 with FREE prim 2 day shipping. I payed the extra 3.99 for one day shipping. I had no issues with the shipping process, everything went smooth. One important thing i will add though is that when i recieved my phone the battery was completely dead, i had to keep the phone on the charger for about an hour and a half before i could turn it on. Eventually i put the phone in download mode and then pressed the down volume rocker which restarts the phone. My version was in polish, so it took a few moments to find the language setting and switch it to english. I found the whole preces pretty cosmical and my friends think im crazy for purchasing an unlocked european phone. But then again they all have Blackberrys so there opinion is moot lol. Im loving my phone right now and dont remember the last time i was this satisfied from an expensive purchase.
edit... i just read that some people had some worries about the shipping condition. my phone was shipped in two boxes. the first was the standard shipping box. then it was in a bigger cell phone style box. similar to what you would get from a carrier. this box was a little beat up, but thankfully the official samsung box was inside in great condition and still sealed. so for who ever was wondering, my us dongle was in the second box not the official samsung box where the actual phone, earphones, sync cable, and euro charger was in.
Handtec is offering £404.98 (shipping included) for North American buyers. That's only 570 Cdn.... It's suprisingly lower than the pricetag on amazon or other non-Euro sites. The price's been decreasing, too. Anyone know why the price has been decreasing steadily (as mentioned in the previous thread)? Is it because of the upcoming iPhone 5 or because of market saturation in Europe? I might order one after Canadian carriers confirm their models. I refuse to buy a SGSII with the LCD variant
If I buy an unlocked version for AT&T where is the best place to buy one? I would want one with a warranty first and foremost. Also, is the home button one that goes out easily? Will the phone run as fast as the one that will come out on AT&T officially? I wouldn't want to spend a ton of money on an unlocked one to find out it's slower than the one that AT&T puts out for hundreds of dollars cheaper.
Next is what about warranty. How safe am I buying unlocked? I have read a lot on this board about yellow stains and stuck pixels. How common are these to get? I don't want to buy a phone that's so much money to be stuck with these problems.
Thanks all
AJ

Expansys-USA provides warranty support for phones they sell meaning they'll ship it back to the UK if it needs service. If you buy it from an authorized dealer in the U.K. it's covered by Samsung's two-year global warranty. Regardless, count on being without your phone for a couple of weeks if it needs repair. If you're looking for the safety and security of a direct replacement overnighted from your carrier and loss/theft coverage importing a phone probably isn't for you.

It seems sturdy and I don't think there were problems with the SGS1 which utilized a home button also.

Unless the AT&T version has an upgraded processor then it wouldn't be any faster. T-Mobile is getting a version with the same Qualcomm chip as the Sensation which hasn't benchmarked well. The leaked pics of Sprint's version appears to be a real SGS2. Nothing specific's been posted about AT&T's version so it could be a 4.3" display with an Exynos chip or a 4.5" display with a Qualcomm chip. They just announced there first LTE phone won't be out until the end of the year and code for AT&T's LTE network was found in one of the latest ROMs. This means their SGS2 might not come out for a while or they'll be releasing it sooner as an HSPA+ phone vs. an LTE phone.

There have been some QC issues with the screen and some variances in color temperature from device to device. If you but if from Expansys exchanging it would be fairly simple. If you buy it in the UK it'll cost you shipping. Stay away from Handtec, they were hassling people on display related exchanges.
You have been very helpful my friend. What would you do? Would you wait for AT&T? Or would you buy unlocked? I have also heard a rumor that AT&T is going to go with the 4.5 inch screen size is that true?

I would get international version for faster updates or bug fixes. You get to have SGS2 before many people.
Also, is HSPA+ phone as fast as the LTE phone? Will I even notice that big of a difference?

LTE only matters if you plan on keeping the phone for a long time. AT&T's only going to have 15 markets up this year. If you get an international phone you can get fake-4G for $10 a month. LTE, while faster, is $30 for 2GB of data and $10 per GB beyond that. And you can't tether at that price. I stream video and tether a tablet and have had no speed issues and I'm in a 3G market.
You sound really paranoid about getting an international phone. You need to think hard about the downside.
- Warranty work will easily take weeks.
- You can buy accident insurance from SquareTrade for $94 for two years but you can't get theft/loss protection.
- If there are QC defects out of the box it'll be a pain to exchange the phone.
The upside is you can get cheap unlimited data (via AT&T), upgrades directly from Samsung, and there's no carrier molestation with crap added or functions stripped out.
Personally, if AT&T gets the same phone T-Mobile is (4.5" display/Qualcomm chip), I'd skip it. Without the Exynos chip the 4.5" phone is an SGS2 for marketing purposes only.
Not paranoid just getting all of the facts. Is the att version going to be 4.5?

So do any models actually have a real US warranty? (I.e. Not the Expansys deal).
I didn't think Samsung offers any US warranty coverage since the GSII hasn't been produced for the US.
I saw the "International Warranty" model on Amazon but no one can prove it's actually warranted...they just assume it's covered in the US.

So do any models actually have a real US warranty? (I.e. Not the Expansys deal).
I didn't think Samsung offers any US warranty coverage since the GSII hasn't been produced for the US.

If you send a phone to Samsung for repair they'll ask for a copy of the invoice and possibly a credit card statement if they're suspicious about the authenticity of the invoice. Any phone purchased outside it's intended market of sale is considered grey market and therefore has no warranty. Same thing for purchasing it from a retailer not authorized by Samsung. Since no model of the SGS2 is intended for sale in the U.S. buying it from anyone in the U.S. means it has no warranty - no matter what the seller might tell you. Supposedly, because the warranty is considered global, a properly purchased UK phone should be repaired by Samsung in the U.S. No one's tested that though. Expansys, because they have offices in the UK, ships the phone back through their UK office for warranty repairs.
If I were to buy Expansys-US would be the place because they do cover it. Now only problem is what if I buy it and AT&T come out with theirs in two weeks LOL! Also, what's the fail rate on the screens, etc?

AT&T WILL probably have the Galaxy S II in a few weeks... if you can you are probably better off waiting to see which model you prefer. I heard US varients of the GS II were getting Tegra processors and of course AT&T will cripple the phone with bloatware and slow updates.. so I went ahead and got an unlocked one from Amazon that DOES have a warrenty. Who knows, maybe AT&T will surprise everyone and keep the Galaxy S II the way it should be.

So you don't think apple will keep it from coming out? I can try to wait a few weeks but man........it's tough. Also, hope there are not long lines like there was for the 3gs.......not worth it for this crap phone..(3GS I mean)

I doubt there would be long lines, if any for the Galaxy S II at an AT&T store. Now the iPhone 5... that's a different story haha . But yea I don't know what to say, the unlocked Galaxy S II is awesome if you have some extra money to spend... otherwise wait and see what AT&T has to offer.

Well I thank everyone for the feedback. I may wait because no warranty and the whole few weeks thing. I just hope att version isn't big as the infuse.
I want a galaxy note. (doesn't everyone?) Sadly, Samsung neglects those of us in the US, making us wait months and months after a phone is released before we see it. Even then, we only get the "carrier downgraded" versions.
So, I'm going to order an unlocked version online. Actually, I just placed an order with amazon.com for one that comes with a 3rd party 90 day US warranty, and is described as "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Unlocked Cellphone--US Warranty (Blue)" (Looks like I got the last one they have in stock, too.)
Does anyone have any idea what "(blue)" is all about? Is this the same Galaxy Note seen throughout Europe, or some US downgraded one? The model number is listed as "GT-N7000", but I'm paranoid... Perhaps it's just a different color batter cover?
Does the Note have 5GHz wifi, or only 2.4GHz? (I've googled for this, but some places claim "802.11 b/g/n" while others claim "802.11 a/b/g/n"
I've seen (and am thankful for) the sticky posted for US users on AT&T. The APN settings pretty much match what I'm using on my GSII (at&t downgraded version.)
Anything else I need to know before I start using this new phone? (I'm coming from a galaxy SII (at&t version.)
Thank you
Gary
The blue colour is the one which is sold everywhere. Its dark blue. I think the note supports 802.11 b/g/n both 5hz and 2.4hz

I would be more suspicious of that "US Warranty." Who's the 3rd party, and what are the terms?
Welcome aboard! I also come from S2 but International Version....I have the Gnote about a month ago... Yes...it's connect to WIFI 5G ( my router Netgear WNDR 3700). I have the ATT go phone plan, and getting average about 1.5 - 2.5 MB/s @ my area with the latest firmware. You have to flash the new firmware for the fast data speed. Very happy with these speed from a go-phone plan.
I also ordered from Amazon fulfilled (Global Mobiles) and got the German Version.
The battery cover is a very dark blue color. It's almost black, but in the light you can see it's dark blue. It's very nice.
What amazon seller did you buy the Note from?
Samsung doesnt make you wait, its the us carriers to blame.

its sold by and fulfilled by Amazon... Not a 3rd party seller. Not sure what company they use for that 90 day thing.

No matter what the product listing says, there is not a US warranty on any International unlocked Galaxy Note. This product was never intended for the US market and Samsung does not cover it in the US, period.

which was why I specified a 3rd party warranty...
I went with expansys us - which is a big reputable cell importer, has a huge supply of the Note ( 31 in stock currently) and many of its accessories, and when I called them explained that they had a real 2 year Samsung European warranty that you have to go back through them to fulfill. 2 yrs though with no cost.
$689.99, free ship. -- to me was the best $/warranty/speed to deliver deal with the reputable dealer.
Got it it delivered quickly and in my hands. They communicated throughout.
I've purchased my last two Notes from www.networkingrus.com , I have to say it is one of the best, if not the best, online retailer that I have dealt with. Service is first rate, with excellent and fast communication and very fast shipping. Just wanted to throw that out there in case someone was looking for a great place to get one!

Why does it say works with AT&T 4G?

Because using "G's" is a marketing ploy. AT&T market's its HSPA+ network as being "4G" even though it's basically a refinement of "3G" UMTS.
So, to the average consumer, who doesn't know/care what the difference between "4G" and "4G LTE" is, they just think they're buying the latest and greatest.

Ahh! Thank you! This had me confused because all I've been reading is "NO 4G in the states" lol
Does look kinda fishy but it looks like they sell on eBay and Amazon too?
I know Negri electronics has rubbed some people the wrong way but I ordered my Note 2 from them on Monday afternoon and it arrived at my door in Vancouver on Tuesday morning.

Definitely not. He really is great to deal with. Just drop him an email and you will see. Very good communication and very fast.
I and a few of my friends have dealt with www.networkingrus.com. They are legite. Customer support is the best of the best. Check out their warranties also. Well worth picking up the accidental warranties. I've smashed 3 phones and it only cost me $25 each time to have them completely repaired.

Thanks for your introduction, If I want to buy, I'll think about it!!
Thanks for the link! Cheaper than ebay and amazon PLUS warranty! Looks like they'll be getting my business.
Why wouldn't you just get a new one from Negeri's eBay page for $679.50 with $13.59 back in eBay bucks? Net cost = $665.91. With a 14-day return policy?
Just curious. Of course, this assumes you are in the US.
From the site it's 669 for the note 2. So only marginally more than eBay. Plus I can add accidental warranty. I emailed the site with some questions about warranty and they responded at 1am their time within like 30 minutes. That deserves my business.
