Seen this floating around and have to say it looks pretty snazzy, so was wondering whether or not anyone with mad programming skills would be able to port it over to/for the Desire?

This works great. But vibrate does not work... yet

vibration actually works but it's almost unnoticeable...
great keybd.. in symbols "&" symbol is "&" don't know why??
When i installed it my data usage went sky high about 0.1mb per second dunno what it was doing but i'm glad i saw this in time.
Got it now writing this now with it. Works well just missing. More feel from the vibration and it would been better.

Which OS you using? Stock SenseUI? Really want to try this on Froyo but don't know the first thing about porting or programming
I am using modacos custom rom r3.1 with the Detox theme from cubanso.
(Eclair 2.1) sadley not froyo.
Holy smoke it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! If only it worked on froyo..
I don't know if its just me, but what multi touch features does it have?
And for the ones that wants to know how it looks here is a screenshot.

First impression is medium. I make a decent amount of mistakes. But it looks good and has voice input (which I don't really use but whatever)

You took those words right out of my mouth...
To me, it looks okay compared to the stock but doesn't compare to the HTC_IME mod theme I'm using or BetterKeyboard. Sensitivity also seems lower. I need to read up on what exactly its special features are yet...

tried it, don't get on with the looks as much as the IME_MOD one.
Found the multitouch to be ok, it was inaccurate with letters on the same line. Tbh I think the implementation is unnecessary but its not bad
no vibrations
I have been working on porting this for a while. To check the full status of whats what, refer to this thread. Link
And yes i was able to get this *sorta* working on froyo. keyword *sorta*
Edit: Nevermind, read the post haha.
Thanks, will keep an eye out on it.

If you are talking about the team I think you are, they said they are waiting for official froyo to do it..
Once official froyo source drops. Things will go more smoothly.. its amazing that our devs here have made the progress they have given the lack of necessity available.

I was just about to make a thread asking about the development of this Galaxy Sense we heard about last month.
With launcher pro a custom dock and beautiful widgets you can make your homescreens look just like the sense ui if you want it for the ascetics or as a placeholder til it gets ported

Yeah I know alot of people like it pure google.
but to me it just isnt appealing or as functional.
the hero was my first android device so I did get spoiled
with htc sense. Just to my likings that it brought a better
experience and refresh to the Android interface. Widgets and apps.
I prefer it over TW. There are just a few things I prefer TW
over sense per say.
I think the rom was released and then discontinued for the galaxy s i9000 due to the devs having muliple issues that they were not able to resolve. Link to post --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877902
The only thing I ever liked about Sense UI were the widgets and the Weather effects.
With LauncherPro, you can get pretty much identical widgets, and then Beautiful Widgets will give you the same look of the clock widget. Plus, LauncherPro is infinitely customizable and you can do pretty much anything with it....
Sense UI has always been extremely laggy and slow in all the times I've used it, as a ROM port on my Nexus, and also stock on the Evo/Hero.
Wouldn't mind trying it out again on my Epic though!
The older version of fancy widget is also a wonderful alternative to the sense clock/weather widget.

+1 to this l, bro. However, given that there are no sense-based phones with an official gingerbread update from HTC, this seems highly unlikely to happen until then. Otherwise the rom will need to be built from scratch, which makes such a thing highly undeaireable from the Dev standpoint, I'd imagine.

alright, perhaps I need to rephrase. I find that, compared to the crap on the stock rom, a True sense-based ROM is much less bogged down with useless software (IMHO)and includes programs I actually like and use (reader, locations, htc hub for skins, etc). Yes, compared to an AOSP rom or CM, it is much more bloated, but all that comes from the polish applied to the UI which I happen to find quite appealing, but which some do not.
+1 to that... Sense is such a great thing, i love everything it has to offer! just wish the battery life could be a bit better~ other than that i use it as my daily driver!
I know alot of people who don't like sense, when I ask why they can't Answer why. Sense looks good and works great. If someone could combine it with gingerbread I would be hooked. My first sense phone was the hd2 and after coming to the mytouch and seeing how good the sense was I was pleased with what they did.

htc sense is very nice vs stock android.. stock android is sooooooooo boring and doesnt have all the nice widgets that htc sense hooks it up with and the nice looking ui. but the only good thing about stock android is it doesnt take up as much ram as the htc sense does. thats the only thing ive noticed different. also gingerbread is nice to run but i keep going back to htc sense for all the nice widgets.. i really love the weather one.. ive seen apps like it but they arent the same at all.

I for one prefer the AOSP look of Android. And loath Sense, It's so much bloat for not enough to warrant it. and if you want those widgets you get to download what you want. And Launcher Pro has a good chunk of those widgets included in the launcher.
as far as "weather widgets" the one off the LG 2X is perfect enough for me.
Do you think custom ROMs will allow us to have HTC's Sense UI 3.0 on this phone?

I'd love to have it, with the recent reports showing the horsepower that it have coupled with Sense 3.0 that would be the perfect phone to have
If people want the HTC Sense experience then they should look at a HTC Phone. Although a Port is possible, its very time consuming and by the time someone actually port's it over with all the drivers working, your device will be close to the yearly refresh and you will want the next best thing. This will leave the developer in a limbo where his efforts didnt truly pay off.

It's not possible, Galaxy S is half baked, Nexus S also try, half baked. Samsung uses totally different structure on android Nexus S can't even port TouchWiz and its the same manufacturer. I would love to get S II spec wise it blows the Sensation out.

Id say its all about taste. Personally I think motorola's UI is the worst, followed closely by the apple wannabe touchwiz. Funny, I actually hated sense as well at first, but now that im using it for a while, I LOVE IT.
Also, its because htc has added soooo much functionality, like finding/wiping/ringing from anywhere(laptop) incase its lost, or stolen, etc. Plus auto-backup of messages, apprx 100 very useful widgets, plus may apps wich save you a lot of time if you had to download one by one. Basically, its a complete package that looks good and offers functionality that no other manufacturer can even come close to, especially being built in from start. no headaches. I myself wish it could be ported but I doubt, especially with how "involved" its gotten lately

I had a Galaxy S, then Atrix and now Inspire. Next I'm buying Galaxy S II because the bootlogger is unlocked and I want the light weight, dual core processor power and video enhancements.
The Inspire is amazing. I like it far better than the Atrix because I can put custom roms on it. I was able to root the Atrix and do a few modifications but it was very limited. I strongly recommend the Inspire.
The Sensation is locked down as is the Atrix. If you want a good out of the box phone Atrix is as good as you get until the Galaxy S II arrives. Sensation will be great but probably about the same as the Galaxy S II.
It is hard to recommend a phone without knowing what you do with your phone. For me the unlocked boot logger is the difference between buying and not buying.
Personally I prefer Sense.I think that Samsung have basically copied the iPhone in design and UI. If someone could remove the native Samsung bloat and add sense, all would be good in the world(for me at least)

I think we can. If enough people that have bought a SGS2 ask for sense then I am sure someone(developer) will be willing to design it for SGS2. From what I have seen of custom roms so far, I think that there are some more than capable developers out there that could do it. If I could write code I definitely would(perhaps I should start learning. The only question is can an old dog(me) learn new tricks?????)
Hi guys!
I'm an HTC user and a sense fan however i am very interested in SGS2 and thinking of buying it except that I'm a bit reluctant about the user interface and the overall user experience without the beautiful sense which in fact does make sense!
So i was just thinking if anyone thought of porting a Sensation ROM to the SGS2!
Imagine all that software beauty on this hardware beast! IMO it will be a fantastic combination!
So guys is that feasible?! Did somebody try it?!

Talking about User Interface? SGS2's Touchwiz 4.0 is completely different from Touchwiz 3.0. It's more fluidic, intuitive, neat and bright. Try it once and I'm sure you won't want to have Sense in it,.
