Hi! Problem with LINUX DX( SIM card doesn't work)
I have got one problem. I have installed GingerDX v018 and I'm realy happy. My battery when I first time install v018 stay for 4-5 days. Because: 1.Clean abttery stats. 2.Turn off 'Allow mock locations'. [unconfirmed] 3.Freeze unused services 4.Download from market Brightness widget and I change brightness to 5%. 5.Turn off WiFi,GPS,Bluetooth and I install just Brightness app and Advanced task killer. But when I install about 10 apps my battery became very bad. And I saw that the Facebook start without myself soo I unistalled them and I install SEESMIC and it's helped. I saw the second option for drain battery: Full wipe, reinstall GingerDX
Use stock GingerDX for several days to see battery problem is caused by GingerDX or not
If it isn't drain, try installing one of your apps, test battery for 1 day, install another one, and test
and so on...
But i've got one big fu**ing problem. I unlock my bootloader and flash LinuxDX v04. All apps and diferent things work but my SIM card doesn't work. Soo I put my SIM card to my old phone SE S500i and my SIM work fine and I use my S500i for one week. Than I pissed because I can't use my x8 without SIM card so I go time back instalation. First I flash 2.1 C.... custom firmware but my SIM card not work and than I RELOCK MY BOOTLOADER and my SIM started to work but the BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT I CAN'T HAVE INSTALLED CUSTOM KERNEL LINUX DX because my SIM card doesn't work because I have unlocked bootloader without unlock loader I can't flash linux DX. Does anybody Know how can I use Linux DX with work SIM card. Thanks for all XDA developers the ginger dx version is the best!!!
Sorry for my badddd English I'm from Slovenia!

Hi, I'm running superram v1.5 with everything working great. I upgraded from an old darkstone rom that came with the phone when i bought it. I installed the superram, but the kernel included is not showing up in the settings>kernel. It's showing an old one, and my battery can go from fully charged to dead in 6 hours or less. I was on the phone for an hour last night, speaker phone, with the display on, and only lost 7% of battery. When I try to manually update the kernel I do have the phone in winmo mode because i don't have a micro sd card adapter. Is this my problem? I am doing a reboot before starting android and the kernel still won't update. Can someone please help?
*6 hours or less in standby that is.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
What did you do, step by step, to change kernels?

Hello guys, I have the following problems with my galaxy s. For 2 days now I am having the problem that the phone while working fine, suddenly reboots and my baseband is gone. I am getting baseband unknown in status.
With no baseband working it constantly reboots every 2/3 minutes. Sometimes it fixes itself and I am having the baseband again. Sometimes not and I try to flash the software (CM9 or CM10), or just the modem. Also tried to copy the efs folder. Nothing seems to work though. I just have to be lucky that it fixes itself after a reboot.
Does anybody experience the same problems?

the problem seems to get fixed once you plug into the power line to charge it. do you think it is the battery?
Have you tried flashing everything from beginning again? So GB via Odin, CM9 twice, afterwards CM10 (or keep 9)?
Maybe it's due to the battery, don't know.My phone is now 2 years old and I already replaced the battery 6 months ago, lol
i would also recommend you flashing stock GB version via ODIN and start form there. i could always solve every problem by going back to GB.
if it's the battery you should try out another one if you can.
I have this problem too, the only way to get back to normal is to flash back samsung ROM, problem occurs with all cm10 versions !!
Did you solve it?
I will ask here, because I don`t want to open new thread for this.I have one SGS on repair but I can`t use usb because my pc can`t recognize the phone(unknown device).I have right drivers installed. There`s no recovery on the phone too, only download mode.If I wanna charge it,battery animation only starts and then restart. If I wanna turn it on,Samsung logo and then Devil kernel animation is shown and then phone restarts.Any idea? Thanks

If you are trying to copy your EFS folder and it does not work - are you using a micro-SD card in your phone. If you are then doing a simple backup will save your EFS as part of the backup and you can have it saved on your microSD card also known as your external sd

That happened to me early on when i started to install custom roms - I did a search on the web for Samsung drivers and installed that and have never had a problem since.

Do you know anyone with the same phone whose battery you could borrow just for testing (SGS or SGS Plus)? I had a battery related problem with constant reboots, BUT in my case the battery level dropped from 80 to under 5 and that caused the reboots. My battery had also swollen a bit.
Experienced same issues until I replaced the battery
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app

Hi everyone
I have an international version of Note 3. The problem I'm facing is, after rooting my phone and installing Lidroid Custom ROM, the battery on my phone started draining badly. To get rid of the problem I reinstalled Stock ROM on it and also unrooted the phone. But the problem is still there.
Even without using the phone, the percentage drainage is about 1% every 10-15mns. Have removed all third party application from the phone, but to no avail.
Can something be done about this? I'm at wits end and need a solution badly. Please respond ASAP.
Thanks in advance.

Get wakelock detector from Google play see if it's a app draining the battery
Get into recovery mode and clean your cache, whatever bad bug went on with the custom ROM flash is still there. Once you clear it you should be OK.
Hey everyone,
I have been reading and learning a ton from the XDA threads over the past couple weeks so first off, Thank You! for all the useful info on here.
After doing some research I just rooted my Sprint S5 so I could tether free and use an international SIM when travelling. After rooting successfully, I tried several different tether methods; TreVe mod, Xtether, Fox Fi and finally Fabios WiFi Tether Router.
Fabio's tether is working sometimes but the result of all this work is that my battery is draining super quick, like 4 - 6 hrs. Also, my usual smooth performance is gone. Switching screens is choppy, using widgets is slow, internet is hampered.
I'm wondering if I rooted incorrectly or if remnants of tether programs are floating around in the background... I tried Dalvik wipe and ROM cleaner
Biggest problem... I didn't know about making a recovery file when I rooted... Yes, I'm a first timer :silly:
So my questions are as follows:
-How can I fix the battery drain?
-How can I restore performance
-Can I still use CWM or TWRP after rooting or is it too late?
I'm doing 27 hrs of travel in a couple days and have 2 kids so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
First, Did you keep location/GPS off? Coz, it sucks battery a lot..
Obviously you can use CWM/TWRP now.. Basically it's recommend to flash it after root..
Finally, if you're not happy with a rooted device, you can always go back to stock device by flashing with a stock firmware..

First off, Thanks Masum for your help!
Battery drain:
I was using GPS/Location the same amount before rooting and the battery was lasting around 12 hours; I have about 6 hours of battery life now with minimal use. Could using GPS after rooting make a difference? It seems like everything is slowing down and my battery analysis says that Connections Optimizer is draining 42% and Android System is draining 31%. Is that unusual?
CWM/TWRP:
My understanding so far with the CWM/TWRP is that you should make a recovery when the phone is running healthy so you can go back to that if your phone gets messed up (like mine is now). Possibly I don't understand Recovery correctly. Please clarify.
Also, when trying to install TWRP from the installer app, it asks for the Device Name and then leaves a message saying that I will probably brick my phone if I enter the wrong one. I cant find my device name anywhere (Sprint S5). How do I find it?
Flash to stock firmware:
I was hoping to avoid this if possible as all the tutorials seems to be pretty complicated (for intermediate and pro's) and I'm a little worried i'm going to brick my phone ;0) But if this is my only option i have a couple questions:
In order to flash with a stock firmware, do I need to have a recovery file in place? If not, could you point me in the right direction for instructions for noobies on flashing to stock firmware for Sprint S5 please.
Once again, thanks for your help!
