It'll come eventually, so I thought I'd start a thread now.
Looking for an awesome developer to port 2.4 to the Dell Streak 5!
A nice build (in my opinion) would consist of removed bloatware, performance increases andddd full functionality!
I'll start the donation list up with $50 towards the successful developer!
unfortunately i dont belive that we will see this soon or may be ever. thats why i sell me streak tomorrow. its a wunderful device.
but there is no CM7 for the streak yet. and building a working ASOP/CM ICS without drivers and a proper kernel will not be possible.
in my opinion a device that run CM7 will have a chance to see ICS.
so i am sure we will see ICS for htc desire and galaxy 9000. also even old devices.
but good luck!
the streak is device that will fit perfectly to ICS...
we will see.
everything is possible.
@Truaim
How can you possibly be overclocked to 1.6GHz when SimpleStreak 1.2 with perfupdate is oc maxed @ 1.190GHz? Please explain your technique in detail.
Thank you.

Well CM 7.1.0 for Nook color actually uses kernel 2.6.32. I just don't know how much remaining work to be done so it can run on Streak's 2.6.32 -- which we had

Tbh I'm not quite sure. I started with Streakdroid 1.8, then upgraded to 1.9, both had me at 1.4ish stable. I switched to Simplestreak's first release and SetCPU was allowing me up to 1.6, so I've kept it there. With a fresh reboot I can quadrant a little over 3k, but my battery is literally like 8 hours with standby and a movies worth of viewing.

That's what I'm hoping for. The knowledge is there, just need a pro to spend some time
Anyone else willing to chip in on development?
WOW! That's 2-3x faster than everyone else. I haven't seen a Streak quad that high since DJSteve himself with an experimental version around 1.6.1. Would sure like to see a screenshot of your 3000+ quad and your SetCPU main page.
Thank you!

How do I take screenshots?

Golly gee there haven't been enough of these threads lately.
Since you didn't have the best ROM on your poll, I had to come in here and type it out.
The Root Tooty Fresh and Fruity ROM of course!
what about the virtuous roms like virtuous galaxy or picasso, but they havent been updated in forever
Thor, but that's not on the list.
I personally liked THOR, but there were a few things left out since its not Acer stock ROM (such as hardware screen rotation lock).
I'm using lightspeed now and I would have to say I like it the most because it removed every bit of bloat the stock Acer had.

I agree. I have I'm still on it even though it has no updates. It runs great and fixed all the issues I had with the tablet.
Thor V12.
Btw. I don't spend much time over here so this may be a dopey question but... why doesn't Thor post on xda?
Wait let me guess...
Mods pissed him off

Add the first two to the fact that XDA won't let him post his work here because he won't publish his source code (like Google didn't post theirs for 3.2), and you have the master recipe.
Thor V12 is seriously an awesome rom, loving everything about it.

All the Thor comments seem to be positive, so I installed it, and it is pretty awesome!
Link for Thor
Rooted and installed my first rom yesterday. It was thor's. If i hadn't killed my battery in the process of installing/re-installing/re-re-installing (had issues w/ wifi and sd storage), i wouldn't have gotten any actual work done while on night shift. From what I did get to play around with, it was much snappier than stock, and allowed me to tether to my phone's data via bluetooth without any 3rd party apps. So not only did I become an instant fan of thor's, but I also might actually start watching Breaking Bad (streamed the first ep on netflix). lol
Here is a link to the ics update for the motorola xoom.
I have no idea if this is of any use to our developers but just thought it might in some way speed up the development of a fully working a500 ics custom rom.

there are already roms (or at least a rom) working fully except for the camera. Unless it has acer camera files, i doubt the xoom code will help much.

Am I the only one who would just love to see a community based repo for ICS on the Iconia, all GPL compliant?
I know it's not on Xda but just wanted to thank u guys for mentioning the ICS rom for the a500. It is by far the smoothest/fastest rom I've flashed on my a500. I'm just blown away at how great it runs. I could care less about the few things that need fixed. I'm now loving my Iconia. Thanks again.
Not correct

No, he's got a ICS rom (Android 4.0). I'm running it right now and it's amazing. The best rom I've ever ran on my Iconia.
Yes he does have it I had 40 running for a bit but SPB shell doesn't run along with a handful of other apps I have bought ill wait till app developers get the kinks out..
He's been working on it since October I think so its pretty good Cam and vpn don't work as of now we need Acer to release alot to get everything the way it should be...

And you owe me personally, about well, a lot of beers. And not just any beer mind you, but I like really expensive beer
In fact, if one would calculate 12 beers per day @.5L per beer since the time he got HW Accel working, No green screens, and 85% of all functions working, you owe me about 457 beers, give or take. But I'm not greedy. I'll settle for an even 400 x.5L.
The Pure ICS rom 4.x, runs damn good. Only 3 or 4 things left. Most people are using it as a daily driver.
But now, "Iced" cube, if you don't come through with your wager, on open terms as you set, Well... that would be considered "welching" on a bet.
Welp, there goes my weekly wage...
I did say "a beer", not "a few beers"
'tis all good, i'll drop some money in the tin.
That aside.... Time to flash the ROM, then!
What all does it take to make this run?

Well..........you'll need.....
An Acer Iconia A500 and an SD card. :-D
I'm using it while I type this, it's the best my Iconia has ever been, I can live with no camera for now.....
I don't get this...
When I attempt to flash this ROM (the one in the first post) to my Iconia, I get the following error:
assert failed: file_grep_prop("/system/build.prop","ro.build.fingerprint") == "motorola/tervigon/wingray:3.2.1/HTK75D/190830:user/release_keys [...]"
Is there a work around?

Youre flashing a xoom rom? That might be the problem. There is an ics build mostly functional for our device a few pages in to the dev forum (where we are) or you can google thor and try his which afaik is just lacking camera and rotation lock.
Which ICS rom is everyone running?
Just curious.. My wife loves MIUI! She has it on her Nook also..
I do beleive that there is a w.i.p posted for dl in the cm9 thread over in deveopment

Hello everyone,
I already have tried the following roms:
- Taboonay
- Flexreaper
- Lightspeed
- Icylicious
All them are considered stable releases but I got some bugs, all roms got particularities like: Can't install all apps, running slow, battery drain, slow fps, etc.
Maybe I've installed a wrong Kernel for these roms?
Which one do yours recommend to me? I'm looking for a stable rom and not many features.
Actually I've reverted to 3.2.1 using Thor Rom v14.2 and I was glad but this release is a kinda old and I still looking for updates, like chrome browser and some ICS new features.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks anyway
Use flex reaper 10 it has a modded or tweaked kernel but the others to my knowledge use pretty much stock kernel. I find flexreaperthe best as of now till acer has released ics for reals. I don't get bad fps except buttons on shadowgun and I'm an android gamer.

Give thors v96 ics a try. Other than the camera not working. It is very stable. V126 is a little rocky. I am waiting for the next update to give it another shot. I am running v96 again until then.
I'm using Flexreaper R10 by Civato and this rom is wonderful! Obviously, like every leaked version, has some bugs, but not too much and it's stable enough.
With tweaked kernel in R10 release the quadrant score is about 2700, not bad for a leaked..
Everything is working good, also the camera,it's not up to the best working but it's good enough
For more info take a look to civato's thread

I really like Lighspeed 4.3 + civato's tweaked kernel.... lag free combo.
As you can see what I am using, I like the Acer ring with mods with Acer print and lock screen, just watch out for Beta's. Use one that is one or two versions old, good luck
Acer Iconia A500 Rooted Running Flexreaper R7 ICS 4.0.3
currently under Thor 133, everything is fine.
i wanna give a try to flexreaper last one too, seems quite good
icy ics the best so far, very stable... tested for month no problem so far
Curently on flexreaper very stable , tried icylicious had some quirks but nothing worth mentioning

Please do. I can't fix what I don't know about, and since there are so few posts about "supposed" problems with it as opposed to the other lengthy threads with mostly complaints about stability, I'd like to hear all about them
humm best rom i do not know for sure.. Only trouble i have with any of them is THAT I CANT RUN Them all at the same time.. Maybe i need a few more tablets..
But i do think its in bad taste to start a thread asking What is better . READ THE FORUM THREAD of each rom try a few and decide for yourself . Dont make it sound like a competition. all the DEV/ Cooks work together in this Forum. the uses should do the same..
Hi all... by the way Just been spending lots of time with the kid the last few weeks. HE Left today off to College. WHOOWEEE no kids on the house. Med school will last many years as well.
I was currently using last Flexreaper version but some apps stop working randomly. Someone got something like this before?

Dear erica_renee,
I'm not trying to make it sounds like a competition.
I've just asked which one is the most STABLE rom and not the Best.
As you can see, I'm not looking for features. I already have given a chance for some roms but they got some bugs .
I've made a simple question , so if you dont have any information to share here, dont post nonsense things and stop flame on my topic.

If you post something like this you need to give info on what apps and if you followed installation instructions TO THE LETTER.
I only got one app that closed not FC once a week and that is Asus Taskmanager , it doesn't crash just stops and restarts.
Just for information: From time to time, I had with FlexReaper some FCs with GPS apps, like Google Maps. Then I found out that the FCs were related to SetCPU, which I still had on my tab, although it was without function. After deinstalling SetCPU I never observed any FCs.
Best regards, maris
Most of the time if you are experiencing stability issues with these ICS ROMs is because of something else, whether it is an app that hasn't been optimized for ICS, or old junk from previous apps. Other causes could be a bad flash or some steps being left out when wiping a previous ROM. For the most part, if everything is done right, all the ROMS that these great chefs have cooked up are really solid. I never have issues with mine.

I'll have to agree so far I haven't had any constant problems with civato's roms. As of now their the best out there. From what I've experienced unless its in alpha or beta stages, something you did or didn't do causes your problems. even if its just an app you use or how you restore data.

i recently installed FLEX REAPER for iconia a100, it runs incredibly fast and stable but i also notice my battery is draining like hell... and with ICS stock not...
i have wifi on and Hd widgets set to up date every hour and nothing else...
i turned the tablet at 7 am with 100% and now is 75% !!! with stock rom the tablet was at 90%...
even with that i like the rom...
