talking caller id? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Everytime I get a call the phone says the name of the person calling like a talking caller id. Even when I get a text message same thing. I may be dumb but I can't find where to turn this feauture off. Anyone can point me in the right direction on how to turn this off thank you.

Maybe Settings - Accessibility - TalkBack ?

Annoying message when imcoming call

When my phone stars to ring sometimes I get the message: "device is busy. Call is being forwarded" This is not quoted, because I have Dutch WM6.1.
But I think it must be something like that in English
Anyway.. When I get this message, the call is forwarded to my voicemail.
This is very annoying, because I have to call back all the time..
Does anyone have a sollucion?
ty..
I think this means you have accidentally pressed the call end button which causes it to go to voicemail...
Have you checked the settings in system options and turned off the auto reject call option?

I can't remember exactly or check at the moment because I'm using a 6.5 rom. But I think you can access it by pressing the call accept button, then choosing options from the phone menu. Then that should bring up a tabbed menu, and its in there somewhere. There's definitely something there though as I remember changing it when I was using 6.1 last to get mine working fine.
In the services tab?
I disabled all forward call settings already.. No changes.

Google Voice push sms and voicemail after app update.

After the Google voice app update I have no setting for refreshing every 30 mins or so. Has anybody notice?
Very cool, looks like voice is moving along nicely.
Come on VOIP!
Other forum alerted me to the update. Glad it finally got push in. Now I can turn off email notifications.
so do we have to manually install google voice (or any other preloaded apps) so that they can get auto-updates from market?
The default on the updated app seems to be disabled notifications for some reason... anyone know why?

Because you no longer update by a time schedule anymore. It's all strictly push now.

Right... but the box to "Synchronize the Inbox" was unchecked. I checked the box, which also turned the notifications back on. I used my gf's phone to leave a test vmail, and it instantly notified me.
Are you saying that leaving the box unchecked will still push the notification automatically? I thought that we had to enable synching the inbox...

No, I'm saying it was turned off because the old sync no longer applies and perhaps some people don't want push.

Ah... ok, that makes sense. So I was right to check that box then.

No problem... just be aware that if you reboot the phone you need to go back into those settings and change it again. I don't know if the new update has fixed that little issue, as I suspect it's not with the GV app, but with the software on the phone itself. Hopefully it will be fixed soon though...
Any word or clue to whether or not Google Voice will ever implement picture messaging ?
So I've synced my Inbox, have all my notifications set-up, rebooted my phone, and am still not receiving ANY notifications for TXT messages...Anyone have any idea what might cause this? It's a bit frustrating blah, especially since I use GV text for a side business
I don't get the VM notification emails anymore, but I still get that blasted second txt msg whenever someone sends me a GV sms =/

That will happen, but if you scroll down further that in Call Settings and tap Call Forwarding settings, you'll see it's going to your GV number. The voicemail option just changes where your calls get forwarded to for voicemail.

It also changes what number is dialed when you hit the voicemail icon in the dialer. Try rebooting your phone and clicking the vmail icon... it will automatically default to the Carrier. You have to change it manually in Call Settings as I described for the dialer to revert to GV for vmail.

Uninstall the update. When you re-install after the sign part there is the option to setup for voicemail.

Ah, well I never use it because what's the point with Google Voice. I can see them and listen to them on the app without having to dial in and waste minutes.

Incoming call text back feature

For the life of me, I can't find where to edit the responses without actually editing it when I'm receiving a call. Does anyone know where to find the list of responses for this so I can add a few? TIA
settings --> call settings -->All Calls -->> Reject Call With Message
You can add a message and edit/delete message by hitting the menu button.

Google Voice has the option to mark numbers as spam, so when I have to use my phone to call people I don't necessarily want to be able to call me back I use it and if there is a problem google Voice eliminates it. I don't give out my t-mobile number because then people will bother me.
Fortunately the person who i rejected with a text was not bright and asked who was texting. I apologized and said "Sarah", they said they didn't know a Sarah and I said oh, sorry wrong number... Then I called them back from GV later that night.

Hey Punk! Don't call in and get my messages!

I just activated a Droid Incredible. When I get a voicemail,I get a notification on the front of the phone, telling me to dial "*86#xxxx#"
The xxxx is my voicemail passcode for when I retrieve my messages.I have it programmed into the provider's voicemail system. When I long press "1" it retrieves my mail.
I need a notification on the phone when I have a voicemail, but to have my passcode in full view is not cool. How can I change that?
Have you tried Google voice? Its better integrated with our smart phones than the carrier's option, though I understand everyone has their preferences.
That's one solution!

Does that change the display only? Because what I have in there is what I want to dial when I hold down the "1" key.
I also don't want to have to listen for prompts and key in my code everytime I check for voicemails.
I'm pretty sure there's an option once you're in your voicemail to change whether or not you have to put your code in each time you check it from your phone. just listen to all the prompts and go through the options.

That is what I do now,it works fine.
But when someone leaves a voicemail,I get a notice on the display telling me of the time of call and to "dial *86p????#"
If I have my phone put down somewhere anyone can happen by and see my passcode.I am trying prevent my passcode from being displayed.Maybe I am missing something?
I am running froyo and the stock ROM.

Ah i see i misunderstood what you were trying to accomplish. I dont know of any way to make the notification not show your password. It is going to show what ever is programed in the voicemail settings.

There is no way around this. i use the same thing so i dont have to type my password in. you would have to use Google voice to get around it.

Quiet Mode vs Blocking Mode

Hi all, I had a GS4 before I got the G2, before going to sleep I used to turn on the blocking mode & I had set it up so that the phone would still ring if someone called me but there would be no notifications & the notification light would be disabled. The quite mode on the G2 in comparison when activated disables all ringtones & notifications (basically putting the phone in silent mode with a whitelist for phones numbers) & I will have to manually allow a list of phone numbers which can still ring through. This does not work for me because I receive important calls from various different numbers & i just want the notification blocking.
Can someone please advise me how to accomplish this.
Thanks
Not sure yet but I think if you uncheck the "block incoming calls" option it disables the whitelist and allows all calls to come through. If so, the whitelist is a nice additional feature for those who want to micro manage things further while not a requirement.

Thanks a lot for your reply but unchecking "block incoming calls" does not allow any calls to come through which is kind of strange!!

Yep I am seeing the same thing as you. Kind of makes me wonder why that checkbox even exists then. Possibly a coding error? There really should be a way to allow all calls. There's an option to select all contacts but I see where you are coming from...an important call could still come from a number not currently listed in contacts.
Also, I'm not seeing an option to disable the persistent quiet mode notification in the notification bar. I don't particularly want to be advised that its going into quiet mode tonight at 11am this morning.
