Hi, guys..
Everybody know that Sony Ericsson Eclair System is very very drained internal memory. In my phones (IND phone) the internal memory is 8 MB left. So slowly... free ram is 2x MB.
* x is a unidentified number
So i think i need to delete some apps at system that made my RAM is low. Example the Backup and Restore apps that is a inactive app (detected at TAsk manager) and use 1x MB ram. I hate this. What i dont know is com.blablabla.simpaytype.dfk (i don't know well what it's name), so i decided to not end that program.
can someone listed me some of apps that not useful at SE 2.1 ROM? Or a program to identify what apk is not useful?? thank you guys
Root your phone, create on your sd card second ext2 partition and instal from market link2sd and move all your programs to sd card...
the second partition on sdcard must be named "sd-ext", and the roms based on 2.3 mount this partition automatically.

I have a rooted phone and have Apps2sd but can only move some apps to the sd card, can someone explain why they all cannot move to the SD card?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Do you refer to stock froyo Apps2SD?
It can only be officially moved to sd if the apps built to do so.
However, u can force it using Titanium Backup or tools with similar features
I`m running the latest version of WildPuzzle rom, and have titanium backup but didn`t know it could be used to put apps to the sd card
with titnanium backup, menu->batch->move user apps to sd card. Then select which apps u want to move. Only use this method if not using widgets from the apps.
if you have ext partition, may want to try nice solution from Darktremor Apps2SD. Be sure to backup your rom before flashing it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925982
Hi many thanks for that. When you say only move apps that you are not using widgets from do you mean the ones that have shortcuts on the screen like messaging , dialler etc?
Sorry but i`m new to android and slowly getting my head around what you can do with it
It refers to applications such as: weather, clock ... if you hold down menu appears where you can choose the widgets, those applications should not be moved because the widgets do not work restart the phone, to be added again.
But you can try this "[ROM] [11.03] InsertCoin A2SD v0.2 Beta" (I use it and she looks like). He inclusively A2SD which uses the Linux ext2 partition, partition is not affected by the restart, widgets do not lose. Before installing this ROM you need to create ext2 partition on the sd card (512 mb enough), you can create the partition with: rom manager (market downoad) or Paragon Partition Manager if you use Windows OS. Format SD CARD WARNING LEADING TO LOSS OF DATA, CREATE A BACKUP BEFORE create partitions EXT2, FAT.
press the 1.2gb ext partition. Use that tool. I tried paragon, it is not working.

While restarting windows - software to complete the ext2 partition, it reactivated undeder Connect to pc disk drive option, in order to complete ext2 paragon manager. So running at me.
hi guys
pls help me, for few days with no installing new apps my phone is warning me abut little internal space, i cant get sms etc. i uninstall some app any time i get notice about running out of space and there after time im getting the info again and again... what can be problem? i dont use the phone but my phone is loosing internal memory space
im running stock 2.1
thanks for your advice...
2 options are there -
option 1 - create an ext2 or ext3 partition of your SD card, root your phone then either install app2sd or link2sd [link2sd is easier to install & use, but both won't coexist / work] . then move apps to sd card[in link2sd you can select which apps should go to sd card, apps2sd move all of your apps to sd]
option 2 - install a custom rom, i.e, either froyo or gingerbread, there you get the option to move ur apps to sd card.

Hello again, I need clarification with this subject...
I had a difficult time in rooting my android, thinking I failed. so for many times I rooted, installed xrecovery, then most importantly apps2sd. but I don't think it works, then I found all about Links2sd. I installed it, and each time after installing I always select the "link2sd" option, and I check the include davlik cache, but my phone memory is continually decreasing... is this normal or not? could there be a conflict with apps2sd and link2sd since I don't know if I have deleted apps2sd. sorry I'm an android newbie. Thanks..
Well... if you had app2sd link2sd would monit about it and asked you to uninstall it first.
If you don't know if your phone is rooted, look through apps - if you have a superuser app - you're rooted
As for link2sd working or not: connect your phone to the computer and open minitool partition wizard home. It will see your ext2 partition along with free and occupied space. If there are any apps on ext2 partition of your SD card - apps are installing there and the slight decrease of space is due to the existing shortcut files. Because you have created ext2 partition, haven't you?...
I did what you said and yes I found files on the other partition I created. but problem is, some files still go to the phone memory, for example the game app "ninjump" has 15mb installed on the phone memory while on links2sd it shows that it is linked to the sd card.
also, I tried removing the memory card, and when I turned on my x8 the programs were missing, so I suppose links2sd is working.
only problem is now is that some chunks are still installed to the phone memory. is there a way of totally redirecting everything to the sd card?
link2sd: Leave data files in Internal Memory, and you can choose the apps to SD
app2sd: Copy all data from the application to the SD, It's all automatic

Ok, here's the deal - how many times did you install ninjump in the past? If more then once, and meanwhile you moved it to or from ext2 it might have (though the probability is very slight) that you have two apps - one in internal storage and one in ext2 storage.
So, navigate into ext2 partition (it's a folder in root directory - sdext or so) and look for this app. It might be hard, as names of linked apps are somewhat messed up, but there should be icons If there is no app on ext2, try switching it back to internal mode and then onto ext2 again - perhaps without linking dalvik cache.

APP2SD
I having problem with the app2sd too..i dunno whether it works...This is what i had done..I had busybox, superuser, and xrecovery installed and rooted. But when come to partitioning the sd card, i partitioned it into 3 parts : FAt, ext2 and ext3...after that i installed the update.zip and custom zip of app2sd...the phone starts not recognizing the sd partition...anyone can help here??
I use titanium backup to see app2sd works or not. if a2sd decrease, so it work.
if internal still decrease, I guess some file or even some app just can't work with app2sd.
one question too, how or can I move games data from fat sdcard to ext2 partition? like gameloft data. I need my fat space for other file

I tried navigating to the ext2 partition using minitool partition wizard, and I indeed saw files that I have installed there. so do you mean that apps2sd is better than links2sd? thanks..
Well... I'm not saying anything is better, though I used both solutions in three different ways.
For stock SE ROM link2sd is better, since you only need to partition SD card into primary fat32 and primary ext2 - nothing more. Then you install an app and all works fine.
With custom ROM you cannot use link2sd, since they all have app2sd hack preinstalled (well, you can always modify files, but what for?). Problem occurs when you have this hack AND ext2 partition. The hack then moves automatically all your apps to ext2 memory along with dalvik cache if you install them in internal storage. If you install in external storage, the app goes to fat32 secure folder and dalvik cache remains in ext2. If you don't have any ext on custom ROM, dalvik cache is always in internal storage, while you can move any non-system app onto fat32 sd card.
The ext2 solution in custom ROMs may seem convinient, but for me it was not. When you use apps like phone locator, they should always dwell in internal memory, since SD card can be easily taken out, while deleting such an app from a remotely locked down phone would require flashing, otherwise the device is useless for the thief
Well actually both app2sd and link2sd are typically similliar. I've tried app2sd before and it still leave some files in internal memory. So will link2sd. But link2sd is much more easier to use because once your phone is rooted you just need to install it on your phone without going through the adb shell thing. Easy for newbie for sure. But you just have to manually link new installed applications and games. That's what differ link2sd with app2sd. Now I'm using link2sd. If you want to make sure, why don't you try those froyo phone. Try to use the app2sd stuff on those phone. They still install some applications on their internal as well although they have built in app2sd.

After searching a lot, I found a tutorial on a forum in English, which I did in my SE X8 and it worked. The idea was to expand the memory as to install a few applications and the phone's internal 128mb I were kids. As for now, the android has X8 2.1 (YES OR must have the 2.1 for this tutorial), which does not support installing programs on SD, we can use link2sd, which creates links to a partition you need to make to SD in order to free internal memory of the phone. It is very stable, and no speed difference on the phone. Yes, it is recommended that memory is of "high speed". The one I have, is 8GB SDHC Class 4. To do this, the phone must be rooted, so we can do it with SuperOneClick or Flashtool. It's easy ....
After this preamble, let the instruction itself:
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT CAN HAPPEN!
We will need a pair of programs:
Root on phone: SuperOneClick/Flashtool
Free program to partition the SD: Partition Wizard
To manage the applications: Link2SD
Hands:
1 - Root on the Xperia X8 whit SuperOneClick/Flashtool.
2 - Unplug and turn off the phone, then take the SD card, connect it to PC with a memory reader and do a full copy of it to the PC, because you need to format it.
3 - Using partition magic, delete the partition on the card.
4 - Create two partitions, in my case a 7.5-GB and one 500 mg (500 mg advise. Maximum). It is essential that the two partitions are primary. 4a-format the partition in FAT32 largest, where we will put all the backup back, and the girl in EXT2 partition, which should not put anything.
5 - SD copy in the FAT32 partition link2sd.apk in order to install it.
6 - Turn the phone and use a browser to install the link2sd.
7 - Run the link2sd, and we get a message "Root access required", which allow selected access.
8 - link2sd Once inside, select the application you want to move to sd, and select "Create Link".
9 - The application automatically goes to the EXT2 partition.
IMPORTANT!!
- Once you move applications to restart the device before using it - It is possible that applications appear in a different order from the menu. - Applications of the system, unable to move. - In the event the market, tells us that there are applications to update, we go and we choose link2sd MARKET FIX. - When mounting the SD on the PC to copy music or pictures, or whatever, do not touch the ext2 partition, what's more, windows or going to see, can only be read from a PC with Linux.
I think that's all.
Surely, this tutorial also applies to other phone models, use it AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
Sorry for the bad English. I translated it from Spanish.

If u are having bootloop problem while using it(happened with me once on stock Rom)
1.Then simlpy pull out SD card & ur phone will start normally.
2.u have to Format & recreate the 2nd partition as shown in above tutorial
3.uninstall & again install(not reinstall) link2sd
4.& u are done...
Cheers

Mistev your tutorial is very good.
But there is a small problem in using link2sd. It is a good application and is used by a lot of people if they are on the stock 2.1 rom with "no move to SD card" option. But once you have created a partiton and have linked your apps to the SD card then you cannot remove your SD card.If you do you will lose all the apps linked to the SD card. Its the only drawback of this app
good work. thanks
:highfive:
Link2sd is not fullfilling my all needs.. After getting 190 mb internal full.. I want more.. Plz tell me any rom with this facility.. Or any tweak or technique?? I badly need it..

Make a partition of SD card and link apps to SD
Just Google how to link to SD
U will get hundreds of results
Prefer xda ones
If u r a noob watch a video after reading the procedure ...
Hit thanks
If u still have doubts after doing all this post here ... we can help
use the almighty search tool!!!! search for terms like data partitioning etc. good luck

jonny789 I would love to know how you managed that if you are properly using Link2SD - just how many apps have you got installed?!
If you partition the SD using CWM recovery and choose 1024mb and 0mb at the two options (after backing up all data to the pc of course!) then reboot the phone when you open Link2SD it should ask you to confirm the type (EXT2/3/4 or FAT etc) - I pick EXT3 or 4 cos sometimes one won't work and I get an error so just use the other.
You will now have a second (hidden) partition and if you set your default save location to "External" all the apps you install will go to the main partition on the SD card. From there you can move them to internal storage (widgets, system apps like keyboards etc) or (preferably) link files to SD which will move a good chunk of the data to that hidden partition.
I have never come even close to using that 1gb of extra app storage and my internal memory is currently 61% free (73.04mb used, 117mb free). Of course lots of games and apps work just fine from the external storage anyway so you can just leave them there instead of linking them - really it is up to you.
The other way to use link2SD to free up internal memory is the system apps - you can uninstall a fair few of these to free up system memory which you can then use by converting non-system apps to system ones - this moves them from the "internal memory" to the "system memory" and hey presto you have more internal available. NOTE: Uninstalling system apps can bugger up your phone - search and read about it before you do this!
If you have already tried all of this then I apologise and humbly ask you to post a list of your installed apps so that we may all wonder at just how you managed to use all that internal memory lol
Cheers
