Hi,
After flashing so many times my device in search for the best rom for me i think i found a bug in 2.3.x stock roms.
Go to Privacy - Factory data reset - Reset phone
The phone reboots, the Samsung logo appears and you will be prompted to insert your pin.
Insert your pin, choose your language and press next until you finish the wizard.
Go to Call Settings - Voicemail and your voice mail number should be configured
Go to Date and time and check if the phone automatically set your timezone
NOW, if you do exactly the same thing i post but instead of typing your pin right away wait for media scanner to stop completely and then go to the rest of the procedures you'll see that your timezone will be the phone's default one and you won't have voice mail settings from your operator.
This is not a monstrous bug, but it's still a bug.
Also i don't know if other settings are missing, these are the only one's i found.
I could reproduce it in JVA and JVH stock roms, i'm curious if this happens in custom roms and most of all why it happens.

I have just found out that I can't send text messages, I can receive them just not send them. From talking to the phone company they have asked me to make sure my message setting number is correct but they couldn't tell me where it was and I couldn't find it.
Apparently this number is used when sending text, can anyone help by letting me know where this setting is.
I don't believe it is the rom or radio as since I found the issue I have been trying all types of roms and reverted my radio back down to 26I, no joy.
Currently I have CyanogenMod 5.0.8 installed
Found this answer from "Nexus One","BryanNexus1"
Dialing *#*#4636#*#* AKA *#*#INFO#*#* brings up a troubleshooting/statistics menu page. Dial that and select Phone information and at the bottom you can enter the SMSC (Short Mail Service Center) number. If the phone can receive but not send SMS it could be a carrier outage or issue 90% of the time. Morlin it is not risky to update the SMSC number. Kerorek gave the correct one for T-Mobile (12063130004). SMS is a voice issue and has nothing to do with data. Morlin try to update the SMSC number and powercycle the phone and test sending SMS.

for New Zealand the number is +6421600600
I had a similar issue some time ago. I remember trying to fiddle with various settings, but that didn't really do me any good.
I ended up wiping the phone and restoring all my SMS/Contacts/etc. Worked like a charm.
Just had this issue, after stupidly messing about in the very area I need to be in to fix it, ( pressed update smsc number with no number typed in, could receive messages, but not send them), full data+cache wipe did not fix this, nor did flashing other roms, since the SMSC reset wipes it from SIM I believe.
Looking up the correct SMSC number for my network and entering this fixed it however, and sms behaviour is back to normal.
So thanks for this, and remember folks, no matter how smart you think you are, all it takes is one stupid moment to remind you, you are just like everyone else

Yes, DI01 to DL09. DJ05 was never released, it failed to fix some of these bugs squashed here or created more than it fixed to begin with....
Hi
I have a little problem. Normally I should be able to just hold the "1 button" in the dialer and it should call the voicemail number stored on the simcard, but instead it says that the number is not setup and that I should configure it in settings. I then press settings and try to put in the voicemailnumber, but then I get an error that it couldn't be said and that I should contact my provider if the error persists.
I have called my provider but it hasn't helped much (they tried taking reassociate my voicemail from their side, they got me to change simcard and reset the phone, but still no solution)
So there are 2 problems:
Nexus4 is not reading the voicemailnumber stored on the simcard
and
I cannot manually set the voicemailnumber
This is on stock android 4.2.1 and the number is ported from a normal sim to a micro sim(and I know am running on another micro sim the said I should try)
Does anyone know what is failing and what I can tell my provider to get this fixed. I know it is minor annoyance and I am just calling voicemail from my contacts instead.
Best Regards
Hasse

Do you have google voice app installed on your phone? If you do try removing and then try adding the number,.
Thanks for the suggestions. The apn settings is correct - so they must have been read correctly from the simcard
I don't have Google voice installed(seems I cannot even get it in danish play store)
The problem also exists after doing a factory reset and 3/three has also replaced my simcard, but I still cannot set my voicemail number (in the settings of the dialer). So I'm thinking that 3/three in Denmark maybe are doing something wrong with the simcards? I will try later to put it into another phone and see how that work

i have BetaMax Dialer installed and up until about a week ago, when ever I went to make a call, a pop up would appear asking "complete action using" and then I could choose either BetaMax, Skype or the stock phone dialer.
Now for some reason, it doesn't do it anymore and goes straight to the stock dialer with no options popping up. I have reset to factory default 3 times now. Still, everything is greyed out under "Phone" in the Application Manager so no chance to "clear defaults.
I have even tried using other dialers trying to reset it somehow but no joy.
Anyone know whats going on or got any tips ?
Hello guys,
I flashed exodus rom (cm -- MM) last week and I am having a set back. Ive searched around and tried a few things but I cannot find a solution.
On oxygen os, in the dialer app, you could call from SIM 1 and SIM 2 even if you have set a preferred SIM in the settings. That was really handy.
On Exodus, I am using the Google Phone app from opengapps (Aroma installer) and I cannot find this option (as expected). I know I could set the settings to "Ask every time" but this would not be handy when I am calling from my car via bluetooth. Making a call from the car dashboard would not be possible since I will not be able to select the sim while driving.
I have tried a few dialers which apparently have this option but I cannot seem to enable it or something. I have tried zero dialer (for example) but when dialing a number I can see only 1 call button which uses my preferred sim settings. Of course, if I set the settings to "ask every time", while making the call it opens the phone app which asks for which sim to use. I am starting to think that these apps are not aware that the phone is a dual sim phone.
Has anyone faced this issue and found a solution to this?
Thanks
Edit
Check post 3 for solution
I am facing the same issue. I am on CM.
Well I found a solution.
True Phone Dialer and contacts actually gives you the option to choose sims. After installing the app, go to settings and enable dual sim. Now after dialing a phone number, hold the call button and a menu will pop up which will allow you to choose sims!
Since you do not need to set the phone settings for the sims to "Ask every time", you can still make calls via bluetooth connected devices. These calls will go through the preferred sim set in the phone settings for sims.
Hope this helps someone.
Hmmm
You should be able to set this in the sim options to ask every time.
Google phone doesn't have dual sim support, use default app..
Can't remember if default Exodus app has this option I guess it does
