Using the note as a handheld phone in public - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Since people love to talk about this, I thought a formal comment thread on this topic would be nice.
I was at the marathon today, and with everyone around, I made a very big deal of using the phone in public.
For example, I was using the GPS on my phone and walking around with it in my hand, so I would often hold it to my head and pretend to talk on it, and see if anyone cared. If someone happened to be looking at me, or in my direction, I might look at my phone and then pretend to talk about it.
I'd kind of turn away so they could see what I'm doing, then turn back a little so I can glance at them and see their reaction.
It was brutal. People were running away, Women were screaming, and children were bursting into tears. Someone called the mod squad and I got jailed for causing a public disruption.
Okay, I'm lying. The reality is not one person seemed to care. Seriously. Not one person.
When you hold the phone, I assume the phone is centered in your hand so you don't drop it. That means, for me, two thirds of the phone is covered by my hand. The rest kinda just looks like a shadow. I suppose a white phone would be more noticable.
It's just not an issue, folks. Although, this is new york, and we get everything.
I have always suspected that people will, at first glance, consider it a very unimpressive tablet and immediately lose interest in what you are doing with it.

I always use my Streak in Public as a phone

yeah i think ppl are started to get used to see bigger and bigger screen phone. i dont see anyone seem to bother or care what i am using againt my ear lol

I honestly don't understand why people are making a big deal of talking on this phone, especially compared to other methods. Mind you, I haven't gotten my Note yet, but I would think that it would just be a "Hm, that's a large phone" kind of thing more so than a "why is that guy holding an iPad to his head" kind of thing.
Also, I would rather talk with a large phone to my head than one of the small bluetooth headsets that are popular nowadays, as at least with the big phone its obvious you're on the phone versus the headset which is so small that it looks like you're one of those crazy hobos you see downtown talking to themselves.
On a side note, I am downright astonished that a phone this powerful puts out less of a SAR than the iPhone - 0.16 W/kg vs the iPhone 4's 1.18. Thanks to the lower SAR I'm actually looking forward to swapping to the Note, as my iPhone makes my head feel funny after a few minutes of calling.

Same, I've been a Streak user since Aug of last year, and the Streak is actually longer than the Note, but the Note is a tad wider. My close friends all had a giggle and when new coworkers see it they go "whoa what's that?" but it makes having a niche huge freaking phone fun. If that bugs people, the should probably just get the Galaxy Nexus which is .6" smaller with the same Super AMOLED HD screen. (well 720 vs 800 pixels on the smaller axis, but very close). It's never been a big deal at all, and it fits in all my jeans pockets, though I'm tall (6'3").

For me, the response has changed a little from when I carried the Streak. The SGN actually LOOKS more like a phone than the Streak--probably because the Streak had no visible protruding buttons...People used to say "Is that a PHONE?!!??!"
Now it's..."WOW! That's a big EFIN phone!"

i don't think anyone around really pays enough attention to care that it's an inch or so bigger than a GS2 ... my gf told me i'd look like a dweeb, but i barely take into account what she says anyway lol

It's like a pimple on your chin.
You think it's enormous.
Your friends think it's amusing for 2 minutes.
Most people are more concerned with real life.

Exactly, you folks worry about what others think faaaar too much

The Note is tiddly! Seriously. I spent a good chunk of the last 12 months using my Galaxy Tab 7" as a phone/tablet. Now that is big, and I didn't get arrested once, no matter how I tried .
The Note is a stunted cousin in comparison. No big deal. The ones to mock are those using tiny 3.5" screens as a "smartphone" .

Like I give a rat's ass what other people think about my phone. I wish a MF would say something smart about my Dell Streak or Galaxy Note. They gonna get their feelings hurt messing around with me, lol.

I haven't noticed anyone staring at me when I'm on a call with the Note, but when I sit down and put it on the table in company, it gets everyone's attention and is overwhelmingly positive.
Only one person, after playing with it, said, "To Big".
Mostly people were in awe of the big vivid screen and interested in the s-pen and usually dropped off when I tried to impress them with the specs of dual processor this and GPS satelites that.
One guy said, "That Steve Jobs was a genius".
I didn't bother to correct him that this was not some giant new iphone and that Steve jobs did not invent smart phones, let alone mobile phones.

Why not? Seems like the perfect opportunity to prove that Jobs was, in fact, not Jesus.

Seriously does anyone care what other people think of the size of the phone they are making calls with? Is anyone's life really that empty?

Why do you think people will care at the first place?
It is just a phone as far as they are concern.

Personally I don't care.
But it's a common question to ask for some reason,
and more upsetting is how so many reviews say/warn that you'll look stupid holding the phone.
It's really annoying.

HD2 In Public :P

I got my HD2 wednesday because we had a snow day
The next day at school EVERYBODY would be like "woah that's a huge fake iPhone"
that resulted in me getting it taken away by the teacher for the rest of class
What happens when you whip out your snapdragon goodness?

hahaha yeah I get asked if it's an iPhone constantly.
In my biology class this kid I didn't like asked me why I got my phone for $200 instead of an iPhone.
I told him "because I'm not a little puss like you!"
then possibly the only other android aware person in my school said "f*** you apple lover! f*** you!"
it was a great day.
although, I like people not saying "that's a brick!" every time I pull out my phone. The g1 was far too thick.
Buddy of mine saw it and started to make fun of it talking about how much better the hardware on his iphone 3gs was. The moment I finished quoting the specs...he gave me this look like his dog had died and then asked where he could get one. Told him it was on T-mobile only and showed how much faster the hspa in my area was...and he got pissed...

hahaha. yeah I just show them how thin it is, how it's rubber and metal, how gorgeous and giant the screen is and the ui.
However, one person said "that's pretty stupid, why would you want the clouds on your screen"
People seem to be impressed with the screen size - it's a monster. Never been mistaken for an iPhone, and when someone asks about the iPhone, I say, "iPhones are toys for children who needs Steve Jobs to tell them what to do. This is a phone for those who don't wish to listen to the Charlatan of Cupertino."

Most people just ask/say to me "is that an iPhone" or just say "you got an iPhone too"
when I brought my HD2 to Cleveland Ohio in February, everyone on campus was like "ooooh shiny" then when i showed them Swype for text input they were all like "oooooooooooh waaaoooww! where can i get one?"
I said, tut tut, not until late March

People in class are still wasting their money on the useless old iphone, and where I live it's $538 for an iPhone 3gs 16gb with a data plan and the HD2 cost only 50-100 more. Wanna smack em and tell them theyve wasted their money
After the "Oh, cool, another iPhone"
i reply "no, no its not" as my expression hardens
I finish off my text under the desk and start surfing the internet in class, pissing off all the iPhone users sitting next to me with its speed with its speed
all 20 of em!
only one person has ever asked my "why didnt you get an Iphone"
To which i simply said "Why didn't you get aids? Same thing really".
To be fair, I was in a funny mood.
90% of people I've talked to are impressed, but know little about HTC.
Almost all of them said they like it better than Iphone..
I read the whole thread and I must say some of the posted answers are really funny!
Unfortunately, on the "serious" side of things, this poll makes you wonder..
Even though I deeply hate the iphone, I gotta give apple kudos for engineering something that has become THE standard in the cell phone market.
They managed to create something that has become so popular that everybody knows it, children and elderlies included.
Tech sites and experts use it as reference when comparing it to every new phone unleashed, even if, let's be honest about it, the iphone isn't really that much of a cell..
What's even more depressing is the fact that whenever someone takes a peek at the HD2, he/she immediately assumes that it must be the iphone or worse, like a rip-off of it, not even knowing that the hd2 kicks the iphone's ass from sea to shining sea...
Aaah Apple, congratz!! You have created a share of market that really revolves around you..

Anyone fed up with the iPhone fanboys making SGS look bad?

Hm, the above looks a lot like a "fanboy" post....
People compare phones all the time, and like it or not, the iPhone is a benchmark device for many.
For me, some aspects of the iPhone are better than the Galaxy S, some are worse.
Overall, I think I'll stick with the Galaxy S, since I love the screen and believe that Android is getting better. But, currently, the iPhone does provide an overall smoother, more polished user experience, and definitely better battery life, IMO.
Being objective does not mean one is a fanboy. Posting threads like this on the other hand....
screen wise i'll take AMOLED over the iphone iris whatever screen.
lag... well only affects the non tekki people, but even if i was technologically challenged, i'd not mind rebooting the phone.
heck all the previous phone i've had, it was normal thing to have to reboot them several times a day, specially windows mobiles ones, and all the memory leaks.
on PalmOS it was only when a specific software hungs
I don't care one bit.
I bought this phone for a reason, it stands up to what i wanted from it, and more.
Even if the army of apple fanboys tries to take people "off" buying this phone, i don't know if you follow the news, but it sells MASSES. Crossed over 1 mil units since launch, and that's even before U.S carriers launcehd it.
Plus it's supposed to arrive in 110 contries total, while now it only sells in 13 or so.
So let the apple fanboys say and do what they want, i don't feel any obligation to "fight" them.
Anyone who will get interested and see it's a good device- will take it, regardless of what iZombies say.
lol macboy shutup, i cant be a fanboy you silly ass, ive never owned a samsung
my point is the guy who wrote an essay about how bad he thinks the SGS is and why he is returning it, has got nearly 2000 views on that thread. will put people off and we want more owners for better support.
thanks
OP, do you consider me one of the iPhone fanboys making SGS look bad too?
BTW, which threads are you looking at that make you feel so persecuted?
You're free to write an essay about why you won't buy an iPhone too... I doubt it'll get very popular though, as there are thousands of those out there already.
it really comes down to "to each their own" choice to get a phone they "believe" is working the way they "think" it is working "properly" for them.
there is no such thing as a perfect phone, else there would be no need for XDA forums LOL
Phone comparisons are done all the time. people come to forums like this one, some to voice their point of view, some just want confirmation, but most just want comfort after purchase.
Each to their own seemed to be the best way. If you go to iphone forums, you will see iphone bashing posts no worst for wear than any other groups.

All serious phone-blogs, that compared the iPhone 4 with the SGS
come to the conclusion, that the SGS is the better choise.
And for all the fanboys out there: the SGS does not drop a call
when you touch the bottom of the phone with your left hand!
You should go to a poor reception area and do a death grip on your SGS. This problem does affect SGS. I've tried it.

Bull, I tried and and at worst I lose a bar for a second or two.
I always laugh at people who think a phone is worth arguing over.
You pays your money, and takes your choices. There are some people to whom I would never recommend a Galaxy S TBH, and as an ex iphone owner, I still think the iphone is a great phone, but in the end, I was attracted to the google OS and the limitless customisation possibilities. I wanted this, but I also wanted a screen that could rival the iphone 4, and really only the Galaxy S in the UK can do that.
Frankly though, as a phone for the every day person, the iphone is so utterly superior - I wouldn't give my dad a Galaxy S, but I would give him an iphone. I dont think he could be bothered to flash firmwares manually or do NAND fixes or ROM upgrades. He just wants it to work straight away. However, its this "basicness" that put me off the iphone in the end. With some work, in my view, you can end up with a phone OS with Android that far surpasses any iphone in terms of sheer power and flexibility.
Each to their own though.

And a single official firmware upgrade rumored to come next week can change all that. It's way too soon to draw conclusions like that.
Best advice right now for "the everyday person" is to keep their money in their pocket for a little while longer since neither phones are working like they should.

Stop complaing... u know you like it ;)

For those who are complaing, because they still can not convince themseleves to keep a phone they spent $587 on; you should have thought about that before buying. if you could not afford it, you should have left it there for someone else to purchase. But stop filling this section with complaints, and waiting for others to to agree with you, so you can build up enough reasons to take it back... i must say, i really enjoy mine. I came from a G1, and THIS is the perfect upgrade for me. True, those coming from the N1 may feel as if it was not a significant offering to require them to move to the NS, but there is absolutley no reason to strike up a new thread everytime you think about the ratio of how much money you spent to the upgrades you are getting. #nogorillaglass... #volumekeyloose... WTF?
I'm not understanding this call for people to stop voicing their complaints and opinions about their purchases (or about anything, in general). No one is telling people who like it to "stop praising it." Isn't this an open forum to share and discuss our interests in mobile technology, including both negative and positive opinions?
I, for one, find feedback from both points of views valuable in helping my Nexus S decision.
I said this at the time the Nexus ONE came out...
I am glad to pay $600 for a phone... Hell, I used to pay $900-$1200 for unlocked HTC phones before android...

its a good phone. no one said otherwise. BUT. if you have anything from Galaxy S, EVO, Desire HD, hell. even the Nexus 1 or Desire. then its not worth the upgrade.
they all can run the same thing. its just a lil bit faster u cant amost notice it.
and honestly. i think the Desire HD is a much better phone - the front facing camera. next gen prcoessor and more than 250M Ram more. " which is where it should matters, Ram. since i can run many apps without getting low on me"
a 4.3 screen with high DPI and nice aluminum body > plastic body and 4.0 screen. you can argue if you want if you like the super amoled screen. but i hate the pinkish tint most of the phones has, or the pattern grid you see in dark gray colors in low brightness.

Right now its to the point there is more negative than positive feedback, and the negative feedback is over petty things, or things that people knew the phone lacked BEFORE they purchased. Im not saying they should not have an opinion, but damn, every thread is a complaint. Like i said, its like people are doing it in order to justify spending $600 or not spending $600... you not liking your phone should not be determined by the number of people who also agree with your negative findings.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AGREED
Sent from my Nexus S
I picked mine up earlier today and have been playing with it for the last 2 hours and all I can say is WOW, I came from a nexus1 and the super amoled screen on this phone blows the n1s screen away, I honestly didn't think it'd be that big of a difference, 4" vs 3.7" is the perfect size I think 4.3" is too big. Also I just finished setting up noled and this app is ****in awesome, I'll have to wait and see how it affects battery life but it makes me completely forget about having a notification led. Overall I am very pleased with this phone, especially the screen, it's goddamn amazing, I love how the blacks just blend in with the bezel and you can't tell where the screen begins or ends.

There is a difference between voicing an opinion and going into every topic voicing the same damn opinion. When people start going into different topics and whine about the same thing, it gets very annoying (especially when it has been mentioned a million times when the specs were first released) and that's when opinions become whiners or complainers. I'm fine if a person keeps complaining in one or couple topics, but going into every single topic to complain about this or that is not cool. Especially when the person doesn't even have the device.
There are only a couple of topics where I can read through a topic without reading about a person whining because it's Samsung or whatever their reason is. It's just becoming annoying. More annoying than the Vibrant or myTouch4G forums when those devices first launched (and I thought those were bad, especially the Vibrant forum).
Doesn't this argument go the other way too? What I mean is if there's an abnormally high general trend of people upset about the nexus s for this or that, doesn't that mean there's some truth behind it and Samsung or Google perhaps failed a little on certain things? I'm just saying its not like people want to be disappointed, they want to be the opposite! Do other phones get the same treatment? I don't think quite as bad as we've seen with the S. So perhaps there's a bit of truth in something if you see enough people feeling the same way. Just saying...
Long story short, I agree. This phone is great and battery life is amazing. I thought my G2 was great but WOW. It is what it is, some will like it some wont, but I don't understand why someone would post just to down the device, thats not voicing your opinion, its just *****ing. You don't like it, don't buy it. You don't want it, take it back. But don't make a thread just to bleed all over the forum. I can understand if your pissed at something that isn't working out for you, but obvious, never said it had it things are just pointless. If your on this forum you should damn sure know what Google is so Google it before your purchase. If not it wont be long before somebody's mad at this phone because they cant find Safari or figure out how to set up live tiles.

Five Android smartphones you should avoid buying (streak included)

I don't comment often but I knew I had to post after reading this
http://www.androidapps.com/tech/articles/8942-five-android-smartphones-you-should-avoid-buying
Is it a phone? Is it a tablet? The Dell Streak somehow combines the worst qualities of each. What’s the point of having a portable device that places phone calls but doesn’t comfortably fit in your pocket? In terms of computing, the comparatively small Dell Streak is clearly inferior to the iPad and other tablet offerings. But don’t just take our word for it. Wall Street Journal tech guru Walt Mossberg listed the Streak as one of the worst devices he reviewed in 2010. Android software updates to the Streak have made it a more usable device than when Mossberg published his original review. However, not even the most advanced mobile operating system in the world can make up for the Streak’s clumsy form factor.

Granted I've only been a streak user for about 4 months now, I don't understand why it made this list. The chief complaint comes from size, personally with a 5" screen the streak is a perfect e-reader and gps.
The article also links a review from the wsj, here the reviewer mostly had a problem with software. Being updated to 2.2, I've never experienced a random reboot or been told I didn't have enough memory to run an app..
Thoughts?
The Streak's size makes it a niche device. I use it as my do everything device and find it great for e-reading.
The guy who wrote the article probably never saw Dell Streak forum here. Here are many people who are using Dell Streak like phone and don`t have problem fitting it in the pocket (myself included).
And the screen size is very, I mean VERY addictive
He is writing that 5inch screen is not practical for phone, well for me it is very practical, now I am not buying anything with screen less then 5 inches.
So that article is just stupid
to be fair we could argue that each and every article reviewing something in the known universe is "stupid" mainly because no matter how much you struggle to keep out any personal opinions you will fail; moreover, even the reader will have his personal opinions and thats the same old song, each to their own etc. for example, if I was 20cm shorter (which would make me about 165cm) i would for sure point out that 5" is just plain too big for smartphone replacement purposes. turns out I am not therefore YES, THE DAMN PHONE FITS NICELY IN MY F'IN POCKET AND YES, I CAN USE THE SONUVABEACH IN PORTRAIT WITH ONE HAND. dare I say short people envy?
(btw, no offence meant to anyone, i'm just joking up a bit: like the author of the article.. or at least so I hope)
Desperate Apple Shrills
These people (the Moss guy especially) are known to be Apple shrills. The best thing to do is just ignore them and don't let it raise your blood pressure. They probably own Apple stock and the way Apple is going lately (look at the whole ebook mess) Apple shrills know that it is only a matter of time before Apple tablets go the way of Apple computers. A small market for a few, but everyone else will move on. More people own Android phones than iPhones and they will want a complimentary tablet to go with it. The same can be said for those who use Blackberry
The only reason that they are ahead now is because they were first with a real usable touch screen tablet. But their control issues are as usual going to far, and they cost too much. People are starting to catch on.
Remember; It is not how you start, but how you finish.
"Wall Street Journal tech guru Walt Mossberg" I remember reading his review when it first came out, the thing is he's pretty much bought and paid for by Apple. Nothing he reviews ever matches up the the wonderfullness that is whatever the latest Apple device is.
I think there's still a thread about that review here on the forum somewhere.
Lol I came specifically here to post about this article. I just saw it on yahoo too...honestly kind of gave me a scare since my streak is supposed to come in tomorrow and I have high hopes for it!
But I think the reasons he gives for it to be on the list are reasons why people end up loving it! And the author doesn't really seem excited about android phones generally anyways...
On a side note-- the Thunderbolt is on that list too. is it really that bad?

Trust me, you're gonna love it! Post a review for us after you use it for awhile. And you will love it even more after you pimp it out with the themes/apps on this site.

Plus one here. I'm keeping my streak beyond my contract I like it that much. I also have an Ipad, very dissapointed with it. I expected it to be better than my streak however its not. I prefer using my phone

The streak is the best phone I have ever owned. Obviously the writer of this article is a fanboy!

well.. well
the article refers DS as a "PHONE" to make a "PHONE CALLS"..
then how on earth he could write that in a web site that talks about android apps?
Although the 5" screen makes the streaker harder to handle (I dropped one a few times until the screen and mb gave out) than say, samsungs or htc' 3,7 to 4" screens, it is definitly more useful, especially for "robust" fingers and arms length viewing/ reading/typing, such as when in a car support for GPS usage.
And its still pocketable, unlike 7 or 10 inch pad. Also, try to use a 10" PAD for GPS car mounting, and you'll likely block out visibility, hence safety.
When I broke mine, I bought a second one, instead of going elsewhere.
IT might be a niche product, but its a hell of niche and its definitly not a toy, for surfing the net, unlike some of the fruty stuff.

" ....Let.em come stepp'n "up in my hauss" and try their mightest to take MY baby out of my grabby hands!...they will draw back a nub! Shooooot, dont talk about my Dell Streak TABLET/PHONE!..hmmmph!"
In my opinion the Streak is the best phone and tablet in the world (since I moved to Simplestreak 1.2)
But if you don't root or modify the streak to meet your needs it is crap. The stage UI is the worst thing ever made and some other launchers too.
But the hardware is good and the quality in general too.
I got it with stock 2.1 from a friend and it was so unbelievably slow. then I updated to 2.2.2 and it got somehow better. Then I flashed Streakdroid 1.5.3 which was worse again and then 1.9 which was ok. I got Streakdroid stable with BB351 but flashed 354. Since then it restarted again and again. So I went to SimpleStreak which is sooo incredibly fast!!!
I think I will stay there for now.
That makes me want to rage...The streak is an amazing phone. Anyone...Well, any guy atleast, that doesn't have pockets that this phone can fit in, is wearing too skinny of jeans. This fits perfectly in all of my pants pockets, even with the 4800mAh battery. Even with the commuter case on it. Fits just fine. And it's an amazing phone.

Jobd or an iphony, I mean, iphoner wrote THAT article just to make other phones including the Dell Streak TABLET/PHONE look bad.
We dont need nobody telling us what we neeeeeed to like or not. They got "little cell syndrome", theyre just jealous "ours is bigger than theirs"
The article is proof positive that size does matter.
Love my Streak 5....cant remember what life was like before it!

Can't live without mine!
Indeed lol. Have used a Streak several times and man is it bad :/ Why else do you think Dell has terminated it?

General Public

I was waiting for an appointment when several of the people noticed my Galaxy Note. I was amazed at all of their comments about how great it was to have a phone like this that looks more like a tablet and could you actually use it as a phone. They all called it my little iPad, very funny! Not one of the women commented on it being too large for them to use. The owner of the shop asked me where I bought it and proceeded to go online to Handtech and buy one, he's an iPhone 4 user. Most all the comments were made with a note of amazement. I was surprised at the general public's knowledge about unlocked phones and their use outside of the United States. Just wondering how many of you guys have had similar experiences. Everyone there wanted to know when it would be available and from what carrier.
similar experience with my phone whenever people notice it, a buddy of mine thought he was top dog with his 4.52 inch samsung galaxy s2 epic touch.... he said he wanted to do an ETF and buy this phone. Everyone also calls the phone "a little ipad"
I've only had positive reactions, especially when I show them how easy it is to go in my pocket. 1 week on, it just seems like a normal sized phone until I see someone else's.
I, also, have only had positive reactions. Several people did make ipad references (come on people, learn the word tablet!) When people ask how much it was and I tell them a little over $700 they typically are shocked, so now I've started answering "about $50 or so more than an iphone." The average American just doesn't know crap about cell phones and the subsidy model our carriers employ has them thinking smartphones cost $200. So rather than taking the time to explain how cellphones, including the one they're holding, actually cost $600-$700 and they're paying for it spread out over months without even knowing it, I just answer in terms they understand. And sometimes I'll explain how I bought a $200 icrap, sold it, and used the money to buy the Note (even though it wasn't actually in that order.)

I had two fanboy's come over to me today while I was using the Note at Best Buy, they kind of get sad, quite and a little depressed and walk away.
I'd say people either fall in love with it, or they are kind of not wanting to even try it.
I handed it to an iphone user whose first comment was, 'Wow, this keyboard is just wonderful'. (thumb keyboard 5" landscape).
One of my friends was mocking the size until I let him play with it and he started web browsing.
After some nodding he start mumbling, 'This form factor is quite nice, actually'.
My two best show off things are:
1) PDFs of the manual to show off text reading
2) playback of a movie trailer
I don't think you REALLY appreciate the note until you try to go back to a regular smartphone.
I started using my mytouch 4g the other day and after 5 minutes, I was thinking 'What is this? is this a joke?'

+1 lol. Nice one frank!
Get use to the comments. With my streak I am always getting questions. "Is that the new iPhone?", "is that an ipad? ", "is that really a phone?". Still get those questions and can't wait to get the with the gnote I just ordered!
i'm getting an extrange effect lately, most of my friends that have iphones don't seem to get them out of their pockets as often as they used too when I'm using mine.

I used to get that with my Archos 70 (iPad?!) and now with my EP121 (iPad?!?!)... Eventually I won't get as mad as I do now!
Yesterday i met 2 Koreans in Germany and they where blown away.
They asked tons of questions and i was impressed by theyre reaction and my smile gets bigger and bigger
In my opinion they are 2 groups:
Group 1 fell in love with the galaxy Note.
The other group says its too big.
I was at the radio city music hall today - Two of the security guards approached me and were really interested in it. As they were pretty big guys, they were immediately attracted to the big screen.
My friends (all iphone users) totally flipped out when I first played them the immortals trailer on my phone.

The usual remark i hear is that ots a phone on steroids...and 'wow thats a good screen..' even from apple reps wanting to know what its like.
