Screen Brightness always low - Galaxy S II General

Hello,
just got the white galaxy s2 and I'm not quite happy with screen brightness.
Though I can make it extremely bright in manual mode, the auto brightness is always too low. Sometimes it goes to dim mode and does not return back to normal even on bright lite from lamp.
already tried several roms not luck. is this a sensor issue or default levels on device?

Automatic brightness vs manual

Hi guys
Which preference do you use? Is automatic brightness option best for battery saving?
i remember it was an official battery saving tip for iPhone and wondered if it's the case for N1.
eh, just keep it on the lowest brightness... thats the best bet
the problem with auto-brightness is that it fluctuates a bit too much if you're in a room with localised lights and shadows... even in a seemingly bright area to your eyes, the display will go to lowest brightness... i just found it personally annoying, as it would usually fluctuate when i wasn't expecting, and to a lower brightness than i could stand... i've since stopped using it... i set my brightness manually to about 25%... for me that's a good balance between a usuable brightness for all conditions, while still giving good battery life...
I use auto brightness with locale which toggles it on and off based on my location. But even before I did that I really didn't notice to much of a difference in battery levels at the end of the day.
I just wish there were min and max settings for auto brightness. Cause I am pretty sure I have never needed the brightness turned all the way up.
i prefer auto brightness if it works. my 1st N1 had a glitch where the screen brightness used to flicker. on my 2nd N1 the auto brightness does not adjust on full scale........(if you go into 100% dark room, the brightness setting must automatically drop to 0)
I too found that the auto-brightness flickered too much. I downloaded Brightness Level off the marketplace and never looked back...
Auto-brightness fluctuates too much for my liking. So, I just keep it set to middle brightness.
the light sensor is unstable, so manually 25% all the time..
Auto brightness too dark
In my Nexus autobrightness works ok outdoors, but indoors it sets the light too dark. I wish it`d work fine because it's a waste of time adjusting it manually every time you move into different light conditions.
I've read Nexus users report different behaviours of their light sensors, maybe it is a bad quality component of the phone. Is there an app which can modify the sensibility of the light sensor? Would be great to adjust this sensibility and set brightness always to auto with a little more brightness indoors in my case.
manual, 25% - the best balance of battery and light for me.
i use about 60%. I hated the automatic brightness because it was darker than I would like most of the time.
My position is, I bought a phone that has a high resolution, so why not give it the brightness to make the color "pop" like they should.

[Q]there possibility to FORCE the SUN LIGHT mode?(very bright on Sun light mode)

is there possibility to FORCE the SUN LIGHT mode?( when the phone gets very bright on sun light....)
you know when you hold the note 4 with direct sun light on it, it gets extremely bright and you can see the screen very good...
i want to have the possibility to make it that bright when i want and not just on sun light (cause when i'm not in direct sun light it also hard to see)
i tried looking in setting but nothing there... i can put it on high bright but never like that brightens in sun light
any idea what i can do?? maybe some tweak or app?
thanks
p.s. if root needed for that - is there any root for note 4?! and any guide how to root it...? thanks
any body knows.....??
Can't you just set the brightness to MAX?
its not the same as it get extremely bright.. that why i'm asking
As I know auto bright should do trick , more than that may damage screen as I know.
nothing else i can do to force this ??
I'm really curious if anyone has found a way. It drives me insane how useful the feature is on a sunny day but if a shadow of any sort including my own head or hand goes over the sensor the screen dims. In fact with Auto brightness enabled it actually goes dimmer than it would with Auto turned Off.
back in the day when i had the note 2 there was a guy who made an app for that. It needed root to work though and you have to apply it every time you reboot the device.
The app was called: a brighter note
maybe he cares todo the same for the note 4 if you ask him
I also need this. it is not BRIGHTER it alters the colors of the screen (they appear paler more washed out) but this results in it beeing EXCEEDINGLY more visible in bright sunlight.
I use my note 4 as a 4k camear with my 60mm moment lens mounted to my SLR so I can shoot pictures and video at the same time. alas it ALWAYS switches away from this optimal mode unless I aim the sensor DIRECTLY into the sun itself. any deviation and it switches back rendering the screen nearly "black" relatively speaking. useless
but that high contrast brightness mode is a DREAM. quite usable ! I want to force that to stay on. also can I do it for a Note 3?

Does your Screen turn pink-ish at lowest brightness (adaptive screen ON/OFF)

So mine turns pink/reddish when setting the lowest brightness setting (ambient display on) - you have to be in a pitch black or very dark room.
When its off, it still does it but its not that bad.
EDIT: If yours does turn pink, will you RMA?
Mine does this as well. I rarely ever see the brightness go that low so it doesn't bother me that much. However what does bother me, is at 50% brightness unless i am looking at the screen dead center the screen has a redish, bluish, or greenish hue on it. Was very yellow the first day I had it, but the yellowish hue is gone.
I have adaptive on. Last night I set my brightness all of the way down. For the first time I saw a slight pink hue. Increasing the brightness fixed this. I am not sure if turning off ambient would have fixed it. If I see it again I'll try turning it off.
I thought was a known feature of amoled. I'm guessing they will all do it at low brightness.
Mine actually got worse. When I first noticed it, it was acceptable. Now its almost reddish already. Some people say its actually a feature of AMOLED. However, when I tried it on a different AMOLED Screen, Note 3 and 4 - i didnt see it.
No, I tried with adaptive brightness on and off and can find no color changes except maybe a slight blue hue when tilting the device and then almost rainbow effect at close to 180 degrees. Guess I got a good screen.

S8 Display turning Yellowish and dark lines with <50% brightness

Hi,
I am using S8 SM-G950FD on stock android 8.0.0 from year+, all of a sudden the display on the screen has turned yellowish, i have tried the adaptive display option and changed the RGB to max and low and the settings for edge colour but the display is still yellowish.
Also noticed another thing: If the brightness is <50% the yellowtinge with black lines come up but if >50% then the display is fine.
I tried to click photos/ take screen shots but the yellowish is not visible on photo, but the dark horizontal lines on whitebackground are clearly visible. have not dropped the phone but this has begun suddenly.
when the phone is under bright light the automatic brightness increases the brightness of screen and the display is clear, when the phone is moved into low brightness the mentioned issue comes up
Any suggestions on how can i resolve this?
Any help is appreciated, phone is out of warranty. Is there any any replacement circular for galaxy s devices, like FOC?

Do you experience brightness issue?

I've noticed weird brightness issue at Auto Brightness turned off and when I set it at full. It is actually going even brighter when is brighter outside and it's getting darker again when going into darker environment and it is making me crazy because firstly I don't want my battery to drain more when using brightness sensor and actually don't like the feeling of brightness going up and down that's why I TURNED OFF autobrightness. Could you reproduce the same behavior?

Yes i have this when dark mode is turned on, Even with Auto brightness off it will still change the brightness when i am outside in the bright sun and it also changes the way the text appears adding sort of black lines on the edges of the letters (to give it more contrast ?). It's a feature not an issue i think it also doesn't happen indoors even when lights change. For some reason it only happens when it's very bright outside.

Yeah, but every feature should have "turn off" button, but Xiaomi couldn't help it with forcing something on us as always...
Under Settings/Display/Contrast & colors try using either Increased contrast or Standard. NOT Automatic contrast.
