hey is motorola droid 2 getting cyanogenmod 9? - Droid 2 General

Just wondering.

wtf is cyan 9? ICS?

Yes ics is cm9

I doubt it would.. the hardware is just too old. If Nexus One won't run it well I wouldn't think Droid 2 would. I'm sure there will be a port but it won't be anything great...

Yes it will.

I'm running miui 1.11 on my d2 . It uses ics framework and it runs ridiculously great.

Revnumbers and jbirdvegas are working on it as we type...
The miui is based on a framework sdk and not the actually aosp code... so if it is smooth, then expect actual code to be butter.

I am running a CM9 Build on my Droid 2 right now, based on EncounterICS. The camera doesn't work, and there are some bugs with orientation sensing, and they keyboard, but in general, the ROM works great. I love the new Google Apps for ICS, and battery life is enormously improved over the CM 7.x builds. Performance is also excellent. Everything runs smoothly, graphics acceleration works great, and the task manager is fast and snappy. If they don't finish the D2 build officially, I am sure the community will; it's just too promising to give up on!

Stable ROM

What's the most stable ROM I can use for my Incredible, I am running nils buisness 2.2 but it isn't working out for me, can you provide a link for a stable ROM, preferrably sense 3.0 thanks

The one that has worked best for me is the Community Rom. I wish it came with the old lock screen as an option though. Thats my only prob with it.. other than that, it's been the most stable of all that i've tried!
The most stable ROM is FROYO stock. But that's probably not what you were looking for.
-xdadevelopers-user
Nils 3.0 v2.2 (or 2.1 or whatever version I'm on) is working extremely well for me, I think the bigger question is what about it isn't working for you?
The most stable rom you can use is decks aosp which is built to 2.3.5
No froyo space issues...or lag from the newer sense ports.

You haven't tried the new desire HD 3.0 roms. There is absolutely zero lag and it honestly runs almost as good as the OTA.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!
I actually have tried newts new one. I had phantom call issues.
I am not sure how you would know what Roms I have tried.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yes I agree I found a great Rom which is ace revolution 3d, I havnt tried the other devs version of their desire port, but if you have flashed all the diff devs ports, id like to know which is your favorite, I'm just not dissappointed at all with ace rev 3d ROM

This is the most stable ROM I've found so far.
I'm a big fan of Jermaine's I'm a big fan of Jermaine's In-Sensitive Minimalist ROM. It has by far been the most stable ROM I have used. If you're looking for Sense 3.0 he has a Dee-Zire ROM that is AOSP/Sense 3.0.
I haven't personally tried it, but if it's anything like his other work I'm sure it's top notch.

the video recording is choppy for now though but is stable and is sense 3.0
I'm running McSense and everything is stable and fast, but it seems to be taking longer to charge the phone.
No complaints other than that!
For the most stability I'd recommend something close to the stock GB that was recently released, with some enhancements. Two ROMs that stick out in my mind are jermaine's stock+ and mcd's mcsense. Both devs have senseless versions as well which are just as stable.

+1 Jermaine has the most stable ROMs as they are the closest to stock. I personally drive IM 2.3.1 and love it. He stopped his Sense 3.0 ROM in beta for not living up to his standards. You can trust his development to be 100% stable.
I'm running the 666th Sense ROM and loving it. It's the stock framework with some awesomely twisted tweaks, and with tiny's kernel the battery is running better than ever. I've lurked here for forever and have learned a lot - figured I'd throw in my $.02 for whatever it's worth.
Good luck in finding something you love.

What rom and why?

I am currently on CM7 and i am just wondering what rom everyone is running. And why they are running it like whats the pro's and con's to the other roms i am very happy with cm7 just wanting to know about everything else.
Very broad question. No real clear answer. If yer looking to stay with non-gingerbread based, I would suggest Neutrino, as its new, maintained, and is built on cm7 weekly 4. Highly themed,/ customized, and very fast. If yer looking for a stock experience, the new 2.3.6 version of gingerbread is available to flash in the fruitcake section and there is a rom called Gingermod built from it.

Cm9 kang. Honestly not that unstable, using it for 2 days now and its fine. Great breath of fresh air for my atrix

Neutrino 1.4-S EE because it's slim, sexy, fast and compact. It's also based on CM7 and Faux's Kernel(s), which pretty much covers all the bases for me.
MIUI once it is more stable. i use it because i love themes and it is super smooth. good luck. try everything for yourself and see what fits you best.
LiGux fore sure
Thanks AtriXDA Developers!!!
Galnet MIUI ICS , it's speed is unmatchable.
Pros: ICS Framework, speed, and great battery life. Oh and because its MIUI
Cons: Poor game support for some reason :/ I'm assuming its because of the ICS Framework but not sure.
Overall my favorite rom so far
Definitely go with Neutrino 1.4 EE-S, great battery life, smooth ROM, and extremely fast!
Aura here! I think CM7 will be the best rom, but still unstable until final version.
I use CM7 weekly #4 at the moment, mostly because of (a) power control in notifications, (b) lockscreen gestures, and (c) skip tracks using volume long-press. If any Blur-based ROM had those features I'd switch back to Blur, for WebTop (and conversely would not consider switching if CM had WebTop or HDMI mirroring).
Neutrino looks like it could be good, but to be honest I'm always wary of ROMs that promise to be "faster", "more stable" or "better battery life" than CM or Stock. 9 times out of 10 I don't notice a difference

Yup. I have noticed slightly better battery life than CM7 Weekly 4. It just seems to work fine and fast with no hiccups.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I highly agree. Its impossible to be faster that stock cm7.I hate how a Dev uses I'm faster than your rom techniques. Miui for me. Nuetrino and others promise so much but its so plain and buggy. Might as well have bling with my bugs

Darkside. It is incredibly smooth and trouble-free, supports as much or as little of Blur that I want, supports all features of the Atrix 4G, and has absolutely incredible battery life. Additionally, the developer is very responsive to requests and is diligent with upgrades.
For the Atrix I recommend the Neutrino rom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398819
He took cm7 and ripped out all the bloat for the Atrix
I also think that the Neutrino Rom is the best. I am excitedly awaiting ICS, but for now, Neutrino EE is what I am using.
Neutrino. Everything works unlike other roms right now

Had to move back to cm7 since every other ROM gives me screen bugs. Gonna try out the ics kang soon

Darkside for me. I loved cm7 but lapdock requires a Motorola Rom. Darkside is the most up-to-date with a superb developer.
For those who need lapdock functionalities, it's wonderful. I also feel the battery life is better than cm7.

i kindof feel a special connection to neutrino rom spent afew days being a flash aholic wile test builds were uploaded and downloaded by me
overall its real fast, smooth its been the best experience on a cm7 based rom to date

Fastest Most Stable ICS Setup?

Wondering what you guys running ICS as a daily are running as a kernel and with which scripts. I'm not very familiar with scripts I've never used them so any help would be cool. Also if you have any reccomendations for just a very fast stable setup that's not ICS any input is appreciated
Well....I'm runnin aokp's latest ics with papa smurfs build.prop tweaks. Smooth as butter for me. Of course minus the front cam, video recording and 4g etc.
Check out the dev section n flash a few diff ones.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
A very fast stable setup? Any of the GB AOSP roms are what you're looking for. I've been running ICS for almost 2mo, and AOKP build 25 is the most stable build of ICS I've come across, but of course, there are things not working yet.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I have to agree with them. AoKP Build 26 with Papa Smurfs build.prop script its pretty awesome. AOKP has the most customizable options as well like the battery percent meter.
Drews/Decks seem to be the most cutting edge and experimental tho. They've been working hard on makin HA work.
Thanks a lot for the replies guys gonna try AOKP with the smurf script. Is there an ICS kernel available?
You'll wanna stick with the kernel that comes with the rom for now. Tiamat did just release a new one, but it was pretty bad (still, obviously I'm super happy they're working in it)

CM9 Neutrino or CM10 Neutrino?

Title is self-explanatory.
In my experience, I found that CM9 was much more stable than CM10 - despite both having the same 'Nvidia libs' issue. CM10 also had the issue where mobile data doesn't work.
There are also other niggles, such as flash not being compatible with JB.
However, CM10 is in its very early days, so this could be an unfair comparison. Which leads me to think that maybe CM10 could be better for the long term - as development on CM9 is likely to slow down. I get the impression that CM10 could reach CM9 stability soon and personally, 'project butter' sure seems interesting to me...
What do you think?
Maybe both?? :fingers-crossed:
I vote CM10, I think it'll be a better investment in the long run.
both :good:
Def CM10, even if it's on early stage, that's the way to go, CM9 leads to CM10, and i've read many people saying CM10 is far much smoother than CM9.
(But i can't tell, i'm stuck with CM7 because of you :good
I just hope Motorola will give us ICS in time...
Just my two cents
CM10 would probably be the better way to go, but not until the proper drivers are available. CM7 may be "outdated" (which IMHO is horse****), but it's incredibly stable and reliable, which CM9 and CM10 are not (despite the commendable hard work by joker, turl, epinter and others, who are doing their absolute best with what they have to work with).

I vote cm10.

I suppose 10. Both have problems. Might as well go with the up to date problem.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
is it selfish to ask for both? =)
i say cm10.. it just feels like those drivers are right around the corner and that being the case cm10 stability is there too. so may as well start now?
I've voted for CM10. But I'd rather say that for now there is no sense to start developing CM10 or CM9 Neutrino for the lack of libs sources and appropriate kernel version. We already have tons of CM9 and CM10 unofficial mods that don't work in a propper way - problems with camera, UIs, hardware accelaration, etc. So I'd like to advice you to what for official ICS firmware or official version from Cyanogenmod (if it will be) and then start developing and modding in order to work out a stable completely functioning and suitable for everyday use mod unless you able to develop its yourself without official ICS.
In any way thanks for you servey and you Neutrino rom that is really pretty good.

i say cm10 skip cm9. you have a good stable cm7 to hold me over till cm10 no need for baby steps up to latest if its in the works.
While I think it'd be great to see both, I think CM9 would be taking away time that could be spent on improving CM10.

Well, it's not just that. MIUI is very easy to theme and, at least on my Droid X, very fast. In fact, it was the smoothest ROM for that phone in my opinion, and I was flashing just about everything for two years straight.
I guess MIUI is Opensorce project, see www.miui.us for more detail. and here https://github.com/MiCode/PatchRom/tree/jellybean
please anyone be kind enough to explant to the razr m
Love or hate MIUI, it’s an innovative and fresh take on Android, and one of the most popular custom ROMs out there. What didn’t sit so well with many of our forum members, however, was the fact that, despite being built on top of the open source CyanogenMod ROM, it was closed, with all development being done by the Xiaomi company. Well, was – it’s now in the process of being open sourced.
Besides the ROM itself – or, rather, a “PatchROM” that should allow developers to port MIUI to new devices – the various MIUI-specific applications are also getting their source codes released, all under the Apache 2.0 license. Not everything seems to be available yet, but then, we guess that the whole process spearheaded by the new MiCode community will take some time.
If you’re a developer, take a look at the source code on GitHub.
