Title says it all, I want to change the H to 4G in my status bar, is this possible?
I'm running stock MIUI 1.9.16.
You need to edit the image file on the system folder then replace it with 4g image. if you don't know exactly what you doing, I would not recommend it
Why complicate things? I like the H it's sexy.

Yea its not that hard if you do it on a theme bases, just unzip the mtz find system ui and place the4g icons there, been a while since I did it, I think its right. Search the site I saw someone explaining it a lot better.

you can use ninjamorph and change it right from your phone. super easy

Hey Guys,
I really like the option to turn the SMS MMS app into black in cyanogen so i replaced my oxygen app with the one from cyan7. But is there a way to get a black GMail app? Or did i just not find that option?
Thx a lot!!!

Would be nice if someone could make a 2.3 based black one. The text is black so you would have to edit the xml files to make the text white or light grey.
Ive tried this before on other apps, but unfortunately it is beyond me.

I get a not installed error.
UPDATE: I tried uninstalling Gmail and installing mikep99's apk and it still failed. I did get the droidforums version to install.

On a slightly related note, I've installed the black Mms.apk from the C7 via adb but it keeps reverting to the regular one on reboots. Any ideas?
EDIT: I pushed via adb and set the permissions and it's all good.
Thanks for your work! Black GMail would be awesomesauce! However I've tried to install it and I get "not installed" error. I'm using Redux 1.0 ROM. I didn't uninstall original GMail app first because uninstall button isn't enabled and it can't be pressed. I'm sure this is what causes error, any idea how get rid of GMail?

Use ADB if you're not S-OFF to remove Gmail.apk from /system/app then push the black one I posted to /system/app.
Make sure the permissions are the same as the other apps in that location.
Boot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
If you're S-OFF you can do the above through root explorer or similar...
Should be ok.

Brilliant thanks for that. Its not quite black, but the text is white, so possibliy I can edit the grey to black if it is controlled by .png files. It is version 2.3 too, which is the latest version that works for me.

Hi,
can I use this apk on my Desire rooted and without any rom??
I run CM 7 RC (Honeybred theme) and as much dark as possible (although never only black). I try to get working as much as possible from the brilliant dark mods in here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/blacked-out/
There's updated GMail apks available there too.

Yep and unlike 2.3.2, it actually works. I liked the 2.3 one I was using but would have preferred grey for unread email and black for read email not the other way around.
Thanks, this will help make Android more unified.
Hey people ..
I've played seven CyanogenMod mobile phone.

Look inside the Zip. It is probably an APK in there. More details as to which theme you are trying to run should help.
in zip framework-res.apk ...
i have new zip.. UOT-OW-03-08-19-25-1.zip
download and check for me.. ?
Link?

Probably incompatible with your version of CM7. Actually, I was referring to some link in XDA if possible, not the download link. :/
Anyway, if you simply want battery %age on your status bar, consider this theme. It is an APK file, and, can be applied using Theme Chooser in CM7:

Hey,
i want to change the smileys of the sms app. (no i dont want to use an other app for sending sms - im happy with the android app )
i googled arround and some posts said, that the images are in the framework-res.apk but i dont find any images with smilies?
so arent there any easy to install apks to change the ugly android smileys?
using hyperdroid cm7 2.1.0 @ EU HD2.
thanks for help..
greedings
What were you using to find the images within systemres? Try NinjaMorph, it will re-compile the .apk for you and everything. If theyre just not in there, then look in systemui.apk, its in /system/app. I cant remember which one theyre in, but it is one of the two, and with ninjamorph its pretty easy to replace them too. I too prefer the native messaging app

The easiest way is to use the UOT Kitchen using the Icons Mod. Maybe this Tut can help
Sorry forgot the rest:
The smileys are in “your_framework-res.apk_extractfolder”\res\ drawable-hdpi\ and named like “emo_im_happy.png” etc.
ah these images did i find.. but their dont match with the icons that are using in sms ? :/ hmmm
but thanks for your replies. i´ll take a look at UOT Kitchen etc.
Will anyone want to take on this task? I would really appreciate it and I'm pretty sure other people would be interested in this.
I've searched the forum and found a few flashable zips for this mod but none work for new sense 2.1, 3.0 roms. I've even searched google and still nothing. I also found a couple of threads here and on android forums on how to remove the clock and I would try it myself with apk manager but I do not own a computer.

I'm on unity right now. But its not my daily. My daily is panache. My tethering stopped working on panache so I'm waiting for drew to update. But I know alot of people use panache and unity. So if you or some one else that can, make the mod for both unity and panache sense versions would be great.

Depending on your rom, look into the settings an you can get rid of it

If I understand right, the easiest way would be to:
Decompile SystemUI.apk
Change layout.xml to reduce clock frame width to 0.
Recompile SystemUI.apk
If SystemUI doesn't hold dependencies on Sense framework, one file can be made for both ROMs. If it does - then it will have to be separate.
I'll try to do it some time today, and post the result if I get anywhere.
Miui how to ?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
In MIUI there's a menu option, if I remember right.
I've modified SystemUI.apk as per my own suggestions above.
Now I need testers.
The file is attached. I'm uploading APK on purpose - to avoid happy flashers that'll flash anything without knowing how they'll revert from it.
You'll need to push it to /system/app/.
Howto:
Reboot to recovery
adb shell mount /system
adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app/
adb shell unmount /system
Reboot
In case it doesn't work - to restore do the same thing with SystemUI.apk from your ROM. If you don't have the ROM available - please back up SystemUI.apk before overwriting it.
If it works - I'll make it update.zip.

Thanx for the effort but I tested it and it did not work. The systemui you edited breaks the signal icons and the clock is still there. It puts the signal bars infront of the 4G. Also the 4g icon is tiny and has the errows on top.

another possible way is to use root explorer or some other file explorer that has rw access to the phone. copy the downloaded systemUI.apk from sdcard and move to /SYSTEM. (DON'T MOVE INTO /SYSTEM/APP YET OR YOU'LL GET FC'S.) change the systemUI.apk permissions to rw-r--r-- and then copy over to /system/app (tap yes when root explorer ask if you want to replace).

So.. in Royal Ginger (and CM7?) i have this option..
Royal Ginger Settings>Interface> Status Bar Tweaks> Show Clock
I have my status bar clock turned off. Also, under tablet tweaks, i've moved my status bar to the bottom.
I wouldn't try reinventing the wheel here.
Obviously, RoyalGinger / CM7 are different ROMs, and have this option made in code and compiled from source. Sense ROMs can't be compiled, since nobody but HTC has the source, thus it must be made differently.

I have not heard of such a thing in sense, perhaps check the desire hd section that' where a lot of activity is, especially on sense mods. I know miui has the option too, but i see you dont use that.
