Download afile manager from PC or your phone and put it in your sdcard in iconia. Maybe you bought a faulty tablet? Try restarting your router and/or check the settings. Don't root yet. There is a possibility that you may have to use the warranty!

Is adb the only way to go? If so, what are the commands? I never got it to work since my g1 days.

Can't help you there. I don't remember myself! Maybe there is a thread in dev section of how to use advanced to install. I think it is adb install...blah blah... Tomorrow I'm buying a tab and I could help you once I got my hands on it, but finally I'm going for the galaxy tab..good luck with your problem

Here's a quick tut on installing using ADB:
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f4/how-to-install-apps-using-adb-4482/
Download file manager to your PC, then move file manager.apk to adb folder then connect your iconia to PC via USB, then open cmd and type :
cd adb
adb install filemanager.apk
then you should have file manager on your iconia. sorry for bad english.
use docs to go to find the apk on your tablet and then just open it. it'll ask you if you want to install. did this on mine to try to install pdanet on my tab w/o a wifi connection

Just get astro from market. It's better than aosp file manager. Sammy file manager does not work on aosp roms.
No, only Root Explorer will do every job you want; sure is the best because of the root access and possibility to copy/paste files wherever you want. No more need for any other explorer.
Root exploer is the best for me too.
super manager from the market is ok too!

Download any deodexed stock rom. Remove apk's. copy to phone install.
Try changing the manifesto to make it work or resigning the apk.
Or just use better ones from the market.

Just downloaded a small OTA update (5.16mb) for my Galaxy TAb 10.1 4G model GT-P7500M.
The description of the update was "Resolves connectivity issues with Kies", the update didn't wipe my data and didn't remove ROOT access.
New firmware version is P7500MUGKH6.
Android version is still 3.1 and kernel still 2.6.36.3

Use Market Enabler, Market Access or Root Toolbox. I prefer MArket Enabler with Donate Key as it gives the option to set it on boot.
Don't mean to threadjack, but I'm just wondering which root mod you used on your tab? I've got a Bell GT-P7500M as well and I'm thinking I need the 4G one, however it seems as though the 4G one is made for Verizon units only.

hi guys! Im new on the forum
Ok, i rooted my galaxy tab 8.9. Then i tried decrapfying my tab, including some system apps: talkback, talk, email, exchange services and ap and stock widgets.
Everything seemed has gone smooth, except now, the Social hub cashes!! seems like it tries to access email database. Can you guys help me and send me the email.apk and email.odex files please? I think the files from both 10.1 or 8.9 work as well.
I also hope that noone after me will delete email.apk as well Cheers!

Are you rooted? Did you make a nandroid backup?
NEVER delete any system apps, just freeze them with Titanium Backup, a much faster and easier to recover option.
Are you not able to re-flash it?

It's all down to individual needs - I always delete the Samsung Apps app, never bother backing it up because I will never want or need to use it.

As far as i know, there is no ROM or firmware for galaxy 8.9 available yet, so i cant reflash now.
I also received from a friendly forums member the email.apk file, but i couldnt install the app (in the files manager i clicked on the apk and selected install but it ended with a "installation failed" message).
Is there any experienced member who can help me?
Just use root explorer to move it into your system/app folder

no, i have tried it, it doesnt help, since it's not installation.
Do a full wipe and start over I guess...and dont forget to do a nandroid backup this time
but how can i do a full wipe since theres no ROM available for 8.9 yet? Or im i missing something?
Best I can do is a copy of the email.apk off my 10.1, good luck with your Tab.

yeah put it into system app then try to install it.
If not, you can try opening stock recovery and wiping through that.

This is exactly why I got a 10.1 instead of 8.9.... I was afraid I'd botch something before help was readily available. Great to see things went well anyway thanks to the folks here.
I did a hard reset on my phone. When it turns back on i have no homescreen. The "introduction" screen comes on as if it was BRAND NEW phone. Go through setup and i have no home page just a black screen with notification bar,Which shows regularly as if phone was fine. I can view recent apps by holding home screen and besides that, that's about it.
What do i do?
Ideas?

Reboot
Or try hooking up your USB and transferring an apk that you download from your computer for a launcher such as Go launcher or launcher pro ( you can do this using notification bar to mount) and then drag and drop from your computer.
Install the apk, and if your problem is no home screen app, press the home button and it will work.

The best advice i can give you is return the phone since you said its new anyway. And a word of advice, if you can return it and if you can exchange it, i would get a different phone.
So I did what "rockstarar" said and it worked.
Now i then went into Rom manager and chose "install rom from SD".
did a backup and then when the phone finished it rebooted and stuck at the CM9 Mod Bootscreen...

Sooo, why does every Android device I've ever installed it on go through a tremendous amount of effort to get vending.apk to system/app?
---------- Post added at 11:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 AM ----------
I tried to edit the above post, but I kept getting "invalid thread id."
I wanted to say, I'm not arguing with you. I'm asking a question.
As a for instance, when I wanted to put the Play Store on my wife's Nook Tablet I had to root it first to be able to put the apk in /system/app.
