Hi,
I'm trying to install XGin 4 onto my X8 because a few people on these forums advised me to.
The problem is when I try to install it I get an error saying ''No files found'' in Xrecovery.
This is only my second time to install a custom rom so I could be missing something very simple here but any help would be appreciated.
I downloaded the rom here:
http://shpitisme.blogspot.com/
I placed that in the root of my sd card
I booted into Xrecovery and wiped the cache
Then chose install custom zip from sd card
When I select ''XGin_4.0.zip'' I get the ''no files found'' error
Can anybody help please?
Xgin 4 is given as a restore ROM.
Extract the zip on your computer and you will find a folder there with 4 files inside.
Put that folder in SD > xrecovery > backup > *put folder here*
Then go to xrecovery, backup and restore, restore and select XGin 4
P.S. Make sure that the folder's name does NOT have spaces or you'll get errors.

Thank you very much!
Please forgive me guys if this has been asked before ..........I've searched the forum without success......but my problem is with this
;
Universal_GB_ROOT_v9.zip mediafire.com/?a99wthh9p98bm0y
I followed the advised procedure but when I get to the choices screen and select install from SD Card, I am then shown this list of options:
../
.android_secure/
Android/
DCIM/
LOST.DIR/
META-INF /
system/
Where do I start, I have tried going through in sequence with no success/response, I have then tried just selecting META-INF / & system / in sequence, again no joy....... could someone give this inquisitive old duffer a walk through, or show me what I'm doing wrong, PLEASE:fingers-crossed:
You are not supposed to extract the zip. Just select install zip from sd card, then select the root zip. Don't extract it and you will be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply......I have not extracted anything, I just downloaded the zip file went nowhere near extraction and the file in my SD card says META INF & system, no where is it named as zip.
Would you by any chance have a good link for the zip file instead.....be grateful.
You're using apply update from SD card in CWM right?
Well location of your zip file should be..
/sdcard/*here*
If you are using atock recovery then the zip file should be on top of the list.. It SHOULD be a .zip file
if you are using clockworkmod recovery then the .zip file will be at the end of the list.. Good luck
Press thanks if i helped you

I have absolutely no background knowledge of anything in a smartphone so bear with me. My device is rooted though.
Ok you know how Samsung Galaxy S4 came with all those stock apps? I want to be able to delete all of them.
With some simple google searches I found this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307355
I attempted some of these steps but I have absolutely, not even the slightest how to complete those steps that person has outlined.
Here are the steps:
Download the zip file "TrulyClean_v1.6_MEDIUM_SBROWSER" extract it.
1. Use the default script or edit the script after your taste. (see "hidden "tutorial above!)
2. Copy recovery.zip to phone.
3a. For best experience - do a full wipe, install a custom rom and then flash TrulyClean.zip.
3b. Script only removes apps in /system, so you have to uninstall any updated apps manually.
4. Flash in recovery (I use PhilZ Touch) & run script after every time you flash a new rom.
5. Enjoy and tell me what you think!
So I downloaded the zip file and extracted it, there were two files into: META-INF and busybox.
Ok so I put them in a folder on the desktop called recovery.
On step 2 I zip the folder I created, so now it's called recovery.zip
On step 3 I don't know anything beyond that, are there step by step tutorials with pictures that illustrate these steps?

Hello,
This is ROMCleaner - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348256
It is a simple zip which you flash in recovery and also comes with a ROMCleaner_user.txt which you serves as the list of apps you want to delete.
Very easy to edit and use.
Also,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507931
This is a great ready-to-flash script you can try if you are a little unsure of editing your own custom list.

Hi.
U do not need to extract the two files.
U only do this if u want to remove any system apps u don't want to remove in the update script.
Just copy the zip file in yr sdcard and flash in recovery.
That's it.
Cheers.
Wait, if your rooted. Why not just buy (yes buy, it's worth it) Titanium Backup or Rom Manager Pro and freeze, backup, and uninstall the apps you want removed. And then you have a good end user friendly GUI to work with.

Heres a flashable zip built from the new Lollipop OTA containing the required Data / Preload files which get deleted when you unlock the bootloader, these work if you are on 6.09.401.11 and possibly 6.09.401.12 and are required to update successfully.
Copy zip to your internal storage and boot into TWRP recovery, flash like you would with anything else, reboot the phone, then boot to fastbootUSB and flash your stock recovery, you should now beable to update.
The zip can be edited and the files in the preload folder can be replaced with your own if you are not on the 401 international RUU, you can find your own files inside your OTA.zip/data/preload, just copy it to your PC, extract the contents of that preload folder found in the ota and replace the files in my flashable zip, save, copy to insternal storage, and then flash as per above instructions.
