Rogers has FINALLY updated their website with the new SGS II Skyrocket which they have been saying they are getting since the beginning of the year.
The page still says "NO PAGE TITLE FOUND" when you open it so in case they mistakenly put it up too early, i screenshot it. Its apparently supposed to be released this week (which is pratically over), or early next week (im guessing the 6th, or 7th, since thats when AT&T in the states gets it)
UPDATE: Looks like the Samsung section of Rogers website is giving code 500 - Internal Error, maybe they're updating the homepage to display the new phone, or they are removing the page lol.

Yes I too was looking at this phone, and was interested in getting it. Was not sure if previous SG2 Root guides worked with the 'LTE HD'
Guess we will have to wait for it to get into customers hands.
Has nothing to do with the Galaxy S II.
Samsung fails at preventing brand dilution. The ****rocket has no business carrying the Galaxy S II name. It has NOTHING in common with the I9100 or any of its derivatives.
interesting... so you would say it is worse? just as good, or better then the SG2S?

Entropy512 you must either be a hater or just want the S2 LTE but can't get an upgrade. haha
In every thread with the S2 LTE mentioned in it, you're on it like fly on ****.
So with the S2 LTE it is a completely revised phone from any of the other galaxy series ? I am curious because I am looking into getting this phone, provided it has root access... I am new to the droid scene so any help is appreciated. Thank you

Right now there is a root method and a way to install Clockwork by using the TMo version GS2. As for ROMs and Dev support, I'm assuming once the SkyRocket is out in full force in the US we will have better Development for it.
I have both i-9100 and 1727, I like it for the LTE support and the screensize. Otherwise, they both feel the same in terms of responsiveness and speed. In fact, the browser loading speed is faster on my 1727 than my i-9100 (and I haven't subscribed for LTE yet)
Awesome, well that makes sense because it just launched in Canada. I am still reading and researching and trying to understand how to root these phones. I basically don't want to get the wrong files and brick the phone with the wrong firmware or .rom
I figured this phone was pretty dam close to the same functions as the SG2S, but had the better network protocol/SIM and the bigger screen.... perhaps that can make for some dev changes for how the phone works with root files and so on.
Hey guys, the Skyrocket just got it's own thread. Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1399

Cool spreadsheet bro
Nicee, I say that we'll get a update by end of April. Just a gut a feeling
Nice spreadsheet you whipped up there.
Thank you for bringing this to us.
My only concern is that I do not see Epic 4G listed in that list. Yes, the Galaxy S is but as we all know, Samsung doesn't seem to consider the Epic a true Galaxy S phone (based on previous articles excepting the Epic numerous times when referring to Galaxy S). Until I see "Epic 4G", I'm assuming the only chance I'll get to see Gingerbread is through CM7.

I see Galaxy S on the back of my phone. If Samsung offers the update and Sprint declines, that is one thing. But to not develop a ROM at all? I'll be upset.
It also does not distinguish whether its CDMA or not
sorry guys, guess I should have been a little more clear.
I did not create this spreadsheet, "I stumbled upon this" through an article posted on the NBCbayarea blog (here is the link):
http://www.nbcbayarea.com/blogs/press-here/Have-Android-Gingerbread-Check-With-Your-Manufacturer-119735574.html
and yes, you're right..this spreadhsheet does not specifically indicate "Samsung Epic 4G", we can only hope that they are generalizing all Galaxy S phones!
sorry for the confusion everyone...
if the link doesn't work just copy and paste:

The way it has worked in the past is that the non US version (base version GT-I9000) gets the update first. In fact that's the phone for the GB version that already leaked. It is plausible that that version could get the release later this month, but what ever the case expect at least 3 months after that before we see any official US versions.
Isn't the Nexus S 4g going to be closer hardware to the Epic than the GT-I9000? Won't that port be quicker?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Who cares.
Once we have CM7 we'll have GB.
I'd rather they spend their time fixing the modem and whatever issues remain (slower data speeds, GPS issues, etc).
GPS is a lot better than it was in DI18, but every once in a while I'll turn on GPS and fire up Google Maps and it won't get a lock. Then I have to back out of Google Maps and go back in. Annoying when you're in the car in the middle of traffic and you have to figure out why GPS isn't working.

Kudos to the dev team, but one half functioning version of GB is no more useful than the half functioning one that Samsung has yet to release.

And usually when Samsung says Galaxy S, what they mean is the GT-I9000 and not the others. You'll know they mean the rest of us when they start saying "Galaxy S devices."
Eh...their sources are random blogs across the web. Nothing definitely. Its a cool spreadsheet to look at and speculate from...but definitely not something we should bet on.
Looks official and hope it is. Exciting stuff, definitely my next phone.. Evos been good to me but can't wait for this! Also looks like it's coming equipped with 2.3.4

there is no 4G stamp after Sprint on the back so it is a nice fake.
also word on the street is that all the US variants of the SGS2 will have the Nvidia Tegra2 chipset, so not much of a difference from other phones on the market. I personally wont own another Samsung for awhile, as they have little to no support for the community , and really just suck for delivering stuff that satisfies US carriers so updates coming to the US take forever!

I don't have any info one way or the other, but that wouldn't make a lot of sense. The Epic has it. The two current phones it will sit next to (Photon and E3D) have it. This is flagship phone, and it wouldn't make sense for it to lack 4G.
Not saying you're wrong, just saying it wouldn't make sense.
It wouldn't make any sense for this phone to NOT have 4G, what are you smoking?
Even if Sprint switches to LTE, it won't happen anytime soon, so that surely won't impact this phone.
Also, the rumor about the U.S. variants having Tegra 2 processors isn't entirely right, it was rumored other territories might have the Tegra 2 included, but the U.S. is the least likely to have the Tegra 2. Not saying there's no chance, but it seems pretty slim.

So while we reported yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S II won’t be heading to Verizon, the silver lining comes in the fact that the three other major wireless carriers will indeed be getting their own models. So, the big question regarding whether or not Samsung would take the previous path in releasing these new models, in creating different looking devices for each carrier has been the question since the beginning. Thanks to Pocketnow, we can finally say that we (may) know what the handsets will look like.
There isn’t a lot of information going around here. In fact, where the above image came from is anyone’s guess. And because of that, we may want to take the above leak with the normal amount of salt on hand. We’re not sure if these are the final devices for each carrier, but we imagine that it’s certainly possible. So stay tuned, as Samsung’s event is just around the corner and we’ll have all the details we could ever want (hopefully).

Keyboard (a good one, not some PoS without a dedicated number line) is make or break for me. That's why I chose the epic over the other decent phones w/keyboards out there to begin with.

Sprint usually keeps the premium phones around the $199 mark, so I wouldn't expect this to be any different. No price has been announced, but I would expect that price point, but certainly nothing higher than $249.
Me personally, I'm waiting for details on the Nexus Prime to do anything. By then, the Epic will have GB and other goodies to go with it, and the SGS2 will already have ROMs etc associated with it. I have to rely on my phone quite a bit for business, so I'm not too eager to be an early adopter. I want to ensure all the small kinks and quirks with the SGS2 are worked out before I jump on it.
Nice to see confirmation of the design in the previously-shown pic that we assumed was Sprint. Looks like a solid design. I'm going to have a real problem deciding between this and waiting for a Sprint Nexus Prime variant.
Also, thanks for citing your source instead of merely ripping off an entire article as your own.
When the SGS1 EPIC came out it was $249 and then after the 2011 the price dropped. I hope they start out at $199 cause im just gonna add a 3rd line to my account to buy the SGS2 and give my son a phone! My wife will be taking my EPIC...
After waiting months for SII's release, I just shelled out 700$ on SII and now a NEW and a better Galaxy SII, probably with 720p screen is coming soon. Samsung is just around the corner to announce it at IFA Sep 1st. In less then 4 months, a better Galaxy SII? I feel my phone is so outdated. What are your thoughts guys?
There's always going to be something better right around the corner

I doubt current sg2 delevlopers will be jumping ship anytime soon.
That is the NEXUS PRIME which Samsung will rebrand and sell
Just like the Desire by HTC was a rebrand of the NEXUS one
So is my THeory
Actually it's called the SGSII S (I assume stands for special) and has Nexus Prime specs. Hardly that big a difference, I underclock my phone so the .3 GHz doesn't do anything anyways, the higher DPI is cool though, even if it's not a must.
Thanks for replies I'm gonna hang on to S2 and customize the hell out of it. Where should I start? Root? Easiest and safest way to Root?

Good option. Rooting and customising your phone will keep you happy for a long time.
I rooted my phone within 30 minutes of getting it home.
A particularly easy way ( How I did it) is simply to flash the Lightening ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274 ) as its a single flash using ODIN on a new ROM & rooted kernel with recovery etc .
Follow the instructions on the thread. But basics - Switch off phone. Restart whilst holding home and volume down key to start in download mode. Plug into PC USB port. Run ODIN on PC and you simply select the rom file and flash it.
It will only take you 10 mins for the whole process.
Then, if you want to try another ROM, you stick the zip file on your memory card, reboot into recovery mode and flash it there. SAme goes if you want to try a different kernel too.
Then you can get setcpu and start overclocking and underclocking and undervolting the phone to get better performance and battery life
A whole new world opens up to you
might be a bit noobish, but I thought the SGS2 can already be bumped up to 1.5 ghz cpu power by overclocking and undervolting. But yeah, in the end there will always be something better. I got this phone last tuesday so.
I wont buy another phone for at least 2 years, considering I upgraded from a Samsung Omnia
Already posted, and its named Celox..
